The Lily-White Church of God Leadership

Living Church of God Council of Elders
All white men, one hispanic, no blacks, no asians

Philadelphia Church of God ministry
All white, one token black, one asian

United Church of God
All white, no blacks, asians or hispanics

Restored Church of God
All white

COGWA
Only COGWA has one black man in a leadership position, no asians or hispanics

For a church that claims to be God's restored truth on earth, a church that is supposed to be the remnant of Paul's ministry to the Gentiles, it is a church that is almost exclusively white in it's racial make up.  Do they really think Paul took his ministry exclusively to the caucasians populating the Middle east/Mediterranean at that time? The people living in that region were mixtures of all kinds of races.

Because of the British Israelism malarkey that the church has taught for decades it has led to the all white leadership in the COG. Even the progressive types, no matter how much they pretend to dismiss BI, they still all promote it to this day.  Without it they could not exist.

This is why deep seated racism is still prevalent in almost all of the Churches of God.  It makes them uncomfortable to have gentile blacks in leadership positions. "Gentile" was the favorite catch-phrase thrown around Pasadena by the ministry and leadership when talking about minorities in the church and world around them.

According to the malarkey of British Israelism, its the chosen white people from the 12 tribes that are God's most highly favored.  Those few gentiles that happen to join up only receive blessings because they chose to join the "truth", otherwise they are always outside the circle.

Because the church still places all of its religious significance upon Jewish laws while ignoring Jesus, its no wonder that they find this verse so discomforting:

Sunday, June 26th lectionary readings for the day were the very verses that make the the "chosen people," the Judaizers, and bastardizers of the law so uncomfortable in the Churches of God. These are the verses that push the buttons of James Malm, Rod Meredith, Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry, and Vic Kubik.

Galatians 5:1The Message (MSG)The Life of FreedomChrist has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.

Galatians 5:13-26The Message (MSG)
13-15 It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. If you bite and ravage each other, watch out—in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then?
16-18 My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. For there is a root of sinful self-interest in us that is at odds with a free spirit, just as the free spirit is incompatible with selfishness. These two ways of life are antithetical, so that you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how you feel on any given day. Why don’t you choose to be led by the Spirit and so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence?
19-21 It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on.
This isn’t the first time I have warned you, you know. If you use your freedom this way, you will not inherit God’s kingdom.22-23 But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
23-24 Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified.
25-26 Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.

There is neither Jew, nor Greek nor gentile, but the Church of God has missed that message somehow, though as long as you are white and male you have it made.  Church leadership is just waiting for you.

  4. To me, a white congregation should have a white minister, a black congregation a black minister and a Asian congregation a Asian minister etc. The reason is that different cultures have different weaknesses and issues to address. This is found in the NT. Different congregations, different cities, and different problems. A square beg in a square hole and a round beg in a round hole.

How about there are human beings leading regardless of their label .
Don't you see that this obsession with race is the real racism?

If you want to find a problem with this look at it for what it really is, an inner circle of guys who run stuff, not because of their race but because they suck up to the big guys at the very top.
We've had ministers of all races in the church but I think this is simply because of good ole boy networking.

  8. Excuse me but why is the black man "Token" in your estimation and not there because he merits it? If all we see is a 'token black man' we do have a problem.
Should they maybe begin Affirmative Action in churches now? Affirmative action is based not on merit or skill but on color.

Well it’s William f Butler, I was baptized in 1981, we know that what Jacob who’s name God Changed to Israel blessed his two grandsons,Ephraim and Manasseh, one would be a League of Nations, England, one a great Nation America, they are the only people that fit the description! Controlling the enemies sea gates And having the best farmlands which means having the most food, I go to living and have never been treated unfairly, Please show me in the Bible where the Other nations were in charge in the Church, how many of Jesus disciples were Black, Noticed how many nationalities in living! Because each has that same minister’s leading them, so you need to stop trying tear us apart God places in His Church whom He wants to, so please do yourself a favor and stop trying to break up the church! 14. Yes I know that it's not politically correct, but there are genetic differences between nations. For instance, Africa is a economic basket case, because they are morally challenged. When the British ruled India, they built 30,000 miles of railway. Since independence, the Indians have built only 6000 extra miles.
The parable of the talents points to differences in talents, one to ten. The differences are not just in the colour of the skin, as some claim. Another example, go to Fiji. The locals are naturally very lazy. A church member who visited there, told me that he would fire them if they worked for him.

  16. This reminds me of this quote from John Tuit. From Banned by HWA's pasge on this book.

"(pg 51) Elbert atlas is one of the few black ministers in the Church and he only black area Coordinator Unfortunately, he (pg 52) appears to very sensitive to this fact and ever-mindful of the feeling of some of the top officials in the Church. He will probably never forget the statement, by Roderick C. Meredith, a top-ranking evangelist who was later to become Director of the ministry “that one of the signs of God’s displeasure with America was the fact that many blacks were ruling over us.” And he called particular attention to the black mayor of Los Angeles [Tom Bradley]. He further stated that no black man should ever have authority over whites." (John Tuit, The Truth Shall Set You Free, 1981, Chapter 4.)

Once again the toxic influence of British Israelism is exposed once again.

-"morally challenged aboriginals lived in the outback for 20.000 years. You, would die within 10 hours from leaving the airconditioned car. Who is challenged?
-Last time I looked for Fiji, the genetical ancestors of the Fijians had to row for thousands of miles. How did your church friend sail. Feast cruise?
-India. Oh yes, that is where you call for help when your computer doesn't process your little racist diatribe.

I must be stupid to bite this rotten fish.

Politically incorrect would be when someone deliberately makes outdated statements since knowledge has progressed. But your statements about genetics were never in the realm of knowledge so one should not even be mad just sad about what you wrote.

  18. What about Dr. Thiel's church? With all the Africans that are with him, surely he must have a few ministers of color. The majority of the USA (COG organizations are mostly white). It's no wonder that the hierarchy would be. Most of the people of other races either stayed with the WCG, went to other churches (non COG), or abandoned religion altogether.

Before the UCG split, I went to the Feast in Branson. The majority of the audience (and it was packed with people) were old, gray-headed white people. Hardly, a dark-headed, blond, or red-head to be found. There were also very, very few children.

  22. Wow 9:36, I guess the United States must be an exceptionally lazy country since according to Wikipedia (article "History of rail transport" in the section about the United States):

Route mileage peaked at 254,000 in 1916 and fell to 140,000 in 2009.

According to you, India continued to build track after the United States started tearing it down. What industrious people the Indians are!

There are a lot of reasons for the plight of Africa and many of them have to do with inept and corrupt colonialism by European powers.

  23. Anon said, "Africa is a economic basket case, because they are morally challenged." Really, perhaps they are poor because they were exploited, their mineral wealth taken, held down by racism and then, when there was little left, the colonial powers "gave them their independence." I visit Tanzania every year, and they do have many problems. But I doubt that their problems are because they are morally challenged. Do you recall how King Leopold treated those in the Belgium Congo? He basically was given private ownership of the country and had worker's hands cut off if they didn't meet production quotas. Who is really morally challenged?

  25. When we entered the Radio/Worldwide Church of God in the 1960s, there were a couple of Black only segregated congregations. I remember Harold Jackson was Pastor of one in Chicago. Feast of Tabernacles had separate facilities for our black brethren.

Let's face it, it was hard to be Black and be in the old Worldwide Church of God. Constantly referred to as Gentiles in a negative way. The racial inequity was the big white elephant in the room so to speak. Listen to Glynn Washington's audio program about some of the absurdities they had to endure growing up in WCG.

Perhaps this is the proper topic to post a prophecy quote from that famed WCG traveling Evangelist, Gerald Waterhouse (by the way, did you know Waterhouse means "Go Water the house of God"?). A prophecy for the wonderful World of Tomorrow (that never seems to arrive but is only 3 to 5 Meredith years away for 50 years), DRUM ROLL PLEASE:

"Noah will solve the racial problems"

There you have it folks! The God's official answer to all racial matters as proclaimed by God's traveling evangelist Gerald Waterhouse whose face when I look back in my mind 45 years ago, looked like an alcoholic which would explain the mindless dribble that came out of his mouth for hours on end in 2 - 4 hour sermons.

Even the Vikings sailed, your ultra super fit, super stamina Fijians rowed. You are such a funny man Nck. The computer support from India is crumbs from the white mans table, nothing to write home about.

5.30 AM states like California started removing railway tracks because of the widespread use of the car. This is not the case in India. India is still a poor under developed country.

6.03 AM Many African nations are rich in natural resources, but corruption means no internal capital accumulation or foreign investment to develop these resources.
The exploitation by foreigners is debatable, since most of Britains investments in that colonial period was invested in England itself. The return on investments in the colonies was small in comparison. In fact, some economists believe that the colonies were a over all drain on Britains resources. King Leopold was the exception in Africa. His demonic behaviour, such as killing mens wives if they failed to meet their quota, was condemned by the other nations at that time.
At any rate, Africa has had adequate time to prosper since the end of colonialism, but to no avail. Compare Africa to such nations as Singapore, a non morally challenged nation that rose from poverty.
It seems that many are in denial of what is plainly stated in the parable of the talents. Different groups are given differing talents, with differing results with what is given. The 'we are all the same' appears to be a false idol in today's culture. I use to hear this crap in the church all the time, the 'don't think you are better than me.' I was, and still am better than those losers.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Che Guevara travelled to Africa following the Cuban revolution, in order to foment communist revolutions in several of the newly decolonized or emerging African nations. What he discovered was that due mostly to the predominance of tribalism, there was no sense of nationalism. The culture and government of the underdeveloped African nations is the obstacle which retards and suppresses progress. That is all in the hands of the warlords.

We know today, that men and women whose ancestral roots were in Africa have been able to become educated and to rise into prominence in the medical profession, the arts, education, and government, following exposure to a more hospitable environment for several generations. Yet we find no Neil deGrasse Tysons, Oprah Winfreys, Barack Obamas, or Henry Louis Gates in the upper echelons of Armstrongism. Why is that? Could it be that these people constitute human evidence disproving the racist theories of HWA and British Israelism?

You have to break down the parable of the talents further, to take it to logical conclusion. Talents are not 1-10 according to someone's hierarchy of the races. Like Jews #1, and Blacks or Fijians on bottom. Talents are 1-10 within each individual race. But then, Armstrongism always was simplistic and anti-intellectual by nature. Educators and behavioral scientists have not been able to identify which ingredient is most important in contributing to an individual's stature, 1) environment or 2) heredity. The ACOGs pretend to know that it is heredity. That notion supports B.I.

California (Greater Los Angeles area) NEVER developed a public transportation system since the embryo of that development was aborted in a very early stage by the automobile lobby. Funny huh.

My point on India is not so much about the reason why that country is still early in its development face (while being much richer in comparison to your great great great grand
fathers country of origin.) Since both India and China are not ascending but merely returning to their original place of being the greatest nations on earth from an economical perspective. Mr. Winston Davis and his son Brian Davis don't like blacks and have no use for them! I learned that on one of my first sabbaths at HQs when I moved to Edmond! Those two do not hide their racism.
The members also openly talk about how Carolynn Coats the receptionist is the church token. Everyone says it was a good move on GRFs part. Put a black girl in the front office and no one will ever think you're racist!

  33. People somehow seem to be able to spin or put a friendly face on their anti-humanitarian view points. Like, how many times have we heard that the Civil War was really about states' rights? Well, excuse me, but I am sure that we would all have been much more receptive to the intellect behind that if the first fight hadn't been over the "right" to own people.

You can call it anything you want, but if it hurts people, holds them back, treats them from second to last class, or enslaves them, it is just plain evil, and unjustifiable. A theory like British Israelism causes all of the above.

  34. 10.23AM My, how the losers live to quote Phil 2.3 and similar. Like drowning people, they latch onto certain scriptures, and hold on for dear life. In fact, the scripture is in reference to people who are genuinely arrogant, and relate to others from top dog position. This is therapy, not a moral principle.
To discern the truth, I suggest you look at all the relevant scriptures, rather than cherry picking some. All emotional currency has to be earned. It is the result of cause and effect. Hence scriptures such as 'give honour to whom honours due.' It doesn't say 'give honour to whom it is NOT due.' Daniel was esteemed by God. So was Christs mother Mary. Others were not. Finally all evil people have a negative self image, the penalty for breaking Gods law. This negative self image includes, self hate, inferiority, worthlessness, self condemnation. Notice, feelings of inferiority, not esteem.
10.23AM, you have to earn self esteem, there is no father Christmas.
No forgetting, your 'arrogant, smug, SOB' and similar accusations, is typically the bully beating down the victims, to give themselves the top dog position.

Hmm you are now narrowing your social economic analysis down to your church group. Your percentages for accuracy are skyrocketing, but still not above the 10% level.

Look I like to watch television programs like "Who do you think are USA and WDYTA Britain.

In some of these episodes we see the appaling conditions in the cities of the Empire. The worst of man (as judged by the standards of that time) are shipped to penal colonies like Australia, Tasmania etc.

Well what do you know, some 100 years later some of the descendants of these people are judges in the supreme court, leaders in industry and professors. What is that? A case of sudden evolution of the genes or circumstances changing. And yes it helps if those inherent talents you speak of are given a chance to be applied.

Morality is of course something different. Some of the most evil people ever, obviously had great managerial skills to mobilize their resources and people and run other empires aground. Very clever, very intelligent, very blessed with talents, but not very moral.

Surround yourself with people that are better than you are. First you will learn amazing things, second you will learn humility and third you might feel compassion for those that are in need of the particular superior talent you hold.

  40. 12:15, the pop psychology self esteem fad seems to have peaked, in part because studies have shown that criminals, instead of having a negative self image as you claim, generally have very high self esteem. A criminal thinks very highly of himself or herself and that he is much better than you so he deserves to have your money, your car, your house and all your things. Does this remind you of anyone you might know? David C. Pack perhaps? The man who says that everything should be held "in common", that is to say, everything belongs to him?

Pack, Meredith, and Flurry all have self esteem that is off the charts. They "earned" this self esteem by lying, bullying and cheating their way to positions of power.

As for Romans 13:7 (Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.), the passage is addressing the Christian's relationship to civil authorities. Jesus had little good to say about rulers but Paul says Christians must honor the office regardless of the qualities of the person holding the office. (Jesus made a similar comment about honoring the Pharisees who occupied Moses' seat.) This has nothing to do with God esteeming Mary as you seem to think.

But that is not what bothered me the most. It was the preposition that "differences of perception" is caused by race or DNA. Right now, we are having "differences of perception" and that it was not already predetermined by our DNA or race.

June 29, 2016 at 3:31 PM "My personality is this weird combination of disliking myself while simultaneously thinking I'm better than most people."
That was my psychoanalysis of an arrogant, smug, SOB. No social economic analysis was implied. Well, except for maybe you and your "trade complex" projections. For example:"All emotional currency has to be earned." I don't know what you mean by that.
Or, maybe my sarcastic joke, "If you can't see this, then I pity you for your logic-challenged DNA. ;)" tripped you up.

  43. Well, I don't know about genetics making me close to some ethnicities, but I know that the Asians are definitely my cousins! After all, I happen to be Cauc-Asian!

Hey, come to think of it, I am also a frickin' American. And, I grew up as a pseudo-Jew! Man, we are all inter-related!

  44. BB,

Are you Africkin' American and a pseudo Jew?
    Man you are a Rastafari.

I read an article today on the Celtic mummified family found in northern China. Tartan and all. Warning contains rather large big photo of the baby mummie.

  45. Looking at all of those photos showing all of them self-credentialed males and what do they have to show for their employment in their man-made groups, associations?

And they are the "protection" so that some "one man" can't decide doctrine for their group/association?

What really is their purpose? What fruit do they bear? What fruit have they borne? Anything of value?

Do they have enough committees? That was so popular with Joe Tkach Senior.

Once upon a time, about 17 years ago, I heard the following comment made from some sign that one could hang on a wall:

"Thank God that God so loved the world that He did NOT send a committee."

    Time will tell...

  46. P.S.

    Which one is "the servant?"

So often, in the Bible, we read that God works through this one, and then that one, to accomplish His will.

Is there no "one servant" today on this earth? Are some just waiting for some "two witnesses" to show up on the scene in lieu of "one servant?"

It is probably a good thing we don't get a vote on any of this...kind of like no choice. It just happens. Life just goes on...like time...it just goes on.

If all of these elders think that God just cannot work through any "one servant," and that were a true fact, then how did they ever think that God could, or magically must, work through 7 men, 8 men, 12 men, any sized group that they would vote into office???????????

If God can't work through one man, then how did they ever expect God to work through a group of men in their man-made organizations, groups, associations...?

What kind of a Mickey Mouse Millennium do they really expect to occur with any of them in charge? Do they expect some human utopia to occur? How could they when what we seem to see today is mass confusion from any of the leaders on down? And so many of them were just "little helpers" to Herbert W. Armstrong...or they thought they were........so far, they have only proved to be fleeing hirelings(John 10:13) who didn't care much, if at all (:12), for the sheep, whether they were God's or not. None of them could stand up to the "wolf" (John 10:12) even if they sensed that vile, evil, thing amongst them.

Oh, well, I was just having a "thought" on a Sabbath, and time will still tell...b/c life and time goes on...just how impotent all these men were/are...

  47. The United church council of elders photo you have is very out of date. Melvin Rhodes is on it an he has been gone for years.

  48. So who replaced Rhodes 1:27 AM? Another white guy perhaps?
