For many years now the American religious scene has been filled with one outrageous comment after another by men who claim to have an inside track with their god.
Every time there is a hurricane, flood, tornado, earthquake or some other natural disaster the god-haunted men start running off at the mouth about how their god is punishing the country for the sins of all the gay people out there. From James Dobson to Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins, to Bob Thiel, James Malm and Rod Meredith, the list goes on.
Robertson has claimed that the 1994 Northridge earthquake here in LA was the result of the gays.
Hurricane Bonnie was the result of Disney World allowing "Gay Days" at the resort. Leading up in the days ahead of the hurricane Robertson claimed it was heading directly to Florida because of Disney. It bypassed Florida and hit Hampton Roads, the area that Pat Robertson is based.
Joni Jacobs claimed that the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" was the root cause of the Japan earthquake and tsunami of 2011 that killed close to 16,000 people. Japan suffered and tens of thousands died because of President Obama.
Then there was Jerry Falwell who made this statement after the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.
"I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularized America. I point the finger in their face and say, 'you helped this happen.'"
Then there was Michael Margave who claimed Hurricane Katrina happened to New Orleans because of the gays. Jumping on that band wagon was one of the biggest theological liars in the country, John Haggee. He claimed that Katrina happened because of a gay pride parade in New Orleans the prior week.
In 2012 Pam Olsen claimed that the US was being hit by horrendous tornadoes, earthquakes floods an fires because of marriage equality.
Susanne Atanus claimed that gays are causing autism and dementia in children and older adults.
Rick Santorum blamed the 2008 economic collapse on the gays.
Then there are the Armstrongite "ministers" who claim they have a direct line with their god and can cast about all kinds of accusations and speculations. Even though every single one of these men have been proven to be liars, there are still find a few out there that get turned on by their predictions.
For decades Rod Meredith has been on an anti-gay rampage. Something set him off early in life that leads him to continually run off at the mouth in every single letter, article and broadcast Maybe part of that reason is because his idol, Herbert Armstrong, mentioned decades ago that he found Meredith to be rather effeminate at times. Having to work over time to buff up his body he started boxing and has never let any of us ever forget he was a 'golden gloves" champ. Over compensate much? He is filled with so much hate that it is unbelievable at times and makes him look extremely foolish.
Then there is Bob Thiel and James Malm, These two run off at the mouth anytime they can about the gays causing one disaster after another. Their eyes glaze over at the thought of their god punishing gays in the lake of fire or thrown into a concentration camp somewhere the Midwest or Canada.
These "men" had better be careful as to what they wish for. Case in point...
MOTHER NATURE HOMOSEXUALS, OF COURSE!
Saying that the flooding in Louisiana was of “Biblical proportions,” Perkins described to guest host Ken Klukowski how he and his family had to take a canoe to escape from their home. Perkins added that he, his wife and their five children will have to live in a camper for six months while their house is being rebuilt. The duo also discussed the idea that god brings trials and tribulations to the faithful to make their faith stronger. That is not an uncommon idea, and many Christians will point to the Biblical story of Job as evidence that sometimes god does rotten stuff to (allegedly) good people. But the notion, advanced by Perkins and others in the past, that natural disasters are punishment for evil-doers, never enters into the conversation. Is that what Thiel will say when an earthquake devastates his home in Arroyo Grande, CA at some time in the future? Is it punishment from his god or a test to see how faithful he is? What about Rod Meredith? What will he say when a hurricane or some other disaster causes havoc in Charlotte? Is it a punishment from God at how they mistreat members or is it a test from their god to see how loyal and faithful they are?
This is why no one pays any attention to these delusional men any more. Decades of outright lies, false prophecies and idiotic bible interpretaions being made against others while their own lives and churches are cesspools of depravity, make their comments invalid. None of these clowns will ever have a forceful message or a message of warning to the world at large. Even their god mocks them!
If I were these men I would learn to keep my mouth shut because their track record has already been 100% wrong. Scapegoats are always needed in order for the self-righteous to feel superior.
UPDATE: Tony Perkins responds to claims:
BATON ROUGE, LA – Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement today responding to the fallacious internet reports regarding causes of natural disasters.“Deceptive claims are being circulated on the internet that put words in my mouth about God’s role in natural disasters and what causes them. Those claims are inaccurate. What I have said, which I repeated yesterday in a sermon at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church, is that I don’t know what was behind this flood or any other natural disaster. However, as a follower of Jesus Christ, I believe the Bible which makes clear that God is sovereign over the elements of nature and can and does use them for His purposes.“He also allows those same elements to be used as a means of testing our faith and devotion to Him. Is this a test of our faith or a chastisement from God? I don’t have that answer. Regardless of what’s behind natural disasters, our response should be the same – we are to be on our faces before God, giving thanks in everything, and placing ourselves in total dependence on Him. We know that in walking in obedience to Him, God will never leave nor forsake those who search for Him and walk with Him. As we cry out to God, we must also reach out to our fellow citizens who are hurting and need help. We can do this with hope and confidence because God’s Word also tells us that ‘in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.’“The flood has brought together this community as never before as we are learning to depend more on each other and on God. We are thankful for the volunteers and resources that are beginning to arrive from across the country which are so vital to the relief effort as we look toward rebuilding. We are very grateful for Samaritan’s Purse which arrived at our church within 48 hours of my call for assistance to begin helping the members of this community. Please join us in prayer that God would use the Church to minister to this community in a powerful way,” concluded Perkins.
All I can say is that by leading such a quiet life as a gay church member, I sure have caused a lot of disasters! Sick deluded men.
ReplyDeleteRod Meredith has preached that the United States will fall apart because, instead of practicing God's form of government, there is voting. Does this mean that Living University, or LCG itself, will fall apart because Dr Michael Germano continues to vote?
ReplyDeleteMichael P Germano NC Public Voter Information
Maybe Dr. Germano doesn't really believe in voting, but chose to vote as recently as 2014 (after being spanked for political campaign contributions in 2008) in order to bring on LCG the persecution that Rod Meredith has for so long foretold? Or maybe Dr. Germano has figured out how Jesus would really vote for President?
As a side-note, now that this information is out, can't we all picture Rod McNair frantically searching the Web, looking for information about which other LCG members in North Carolina have secretly voted? I'll give him a hint: There is at least one other in Charlotte.
It's like all things that are good or bad getting filtered through one's religious belief system.
ReplyDeleteWhen good things happen to a religious person, they are declared to be divine blessings, divine protection, etc, from God.
When bad things happen to a religious person, it's ascribed to Satan, or maybe even their religious shortfallings and need to learn a lesson.
Funny, how amazingly similar mixes of good and bad tend to happen to people of all beliefs and non-belief - no matter which god they worship, or not!
King Solomon's 1000 'wives' robbed him of his ability to be faithful to Gods way. Ironic considering he wrote most of the book of proverbs. In American politics there's the famous adage that of 'how can a man be faithful to the constitution, if he can't be faithful to his wife.'
ReplyDeleteSex and morality are closely related.

One in five people have herpes. And that's just a generality. In the wrong crowd, it would be 100%. Your nuts if you don't keep it in your pants.
ReplyDeleteNot forgetting, there is no cure for herpes, only drugs that suppress the symptoms, causing long term damage to various organs.
I have been wondering which xcg'er would be the first to declare that the recent Louisiana floods were due to god punishing people or trying to get their attention. The city of Denham Springs, LA must have been particularly inattentive as a reported 75-80% of homes there were flooded. But those sinners actually pulled together and tried to help each other during the devastation. I wonder if having god drown my niece's kitten in the flood made her question her Episcopalian views. Maybe it was an unusually evil cat. Theology sure gets confusing for me.
ReplyDeleteComment was made that: "...Robertson has claimed that the 1994 Northridge earthquake here in LA was the result of the gays..."
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I were visiting with friends in a city just south of LA when that quake occurred early in the morning. The size was about 6.6 on the Richter scale. The home we were staying in had lots of French windows, which made a lot of noise. We had never been a quake of this size. We immediately sat up in bed and then strived to walk across the bedroom, while the floor felt like we were walking on Jello and it was still dark out. Only damage was from a little lamp that toppled over the top of a piano causing a scratch. We were very fortunate.
Subsequent to that quake we actually read in some magazine or newspaper that Northridge was the Pornography capital of the US...as if that "magically somehow" had something to do with the seismic activity of the earthquake.
I just happened to be reading a book titled: "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist" (ISBN 1-58134-561-5) by Norman L. Geisler and Frank Turek. Yesterday, I was up to Chapter 4 on the subject of Divine Design, which mentioned numerous things that need to be happening as they are, and if they varied one way or the other just a little life on earth would not be possible. I was surprised to read that one of them was seismic activity.
On page 106 it stated: "If there were more seismic activity, much more life would be lost; if there was less, nutrients on the ocean floors and in river runoff would not be cycled back to the continents through tectonic uplift. (Yes, even earthquakes are necessary to sustain life as we know it!)"
Regarding Northridge in 1994, we have no reason to blame/judge human beings for that earthquake. Perhaps we ought to just be thankful once in awhile for earthquakes (not to mention also things like: centrifugal force of planetary movements, expansion rate of the universe, water vapor levels being what they are, Jupiter existing in its current orbit, thickness of the earth's crust, rotation of the earth, the 23-degree axil tilt of earth, atmospheric discharge rate, etc)....and just let it go.
And time will tell...

"Funny, how amazingly similar mixes of good and bad tend to happen to people of all beliefs and non-belief - no matter which god they worship, or not!"
ReplyDeleteYes, anon. A religious filter polarizes reality into only good or bad. A ready-made response or action keeps it simply simple for the zombie horde to bang their drums to, while they hunt for the brains(minds) of others to devour.
"And time will tell..."
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that somebody will still be listening when it tells it's tale!
Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, have happened throughout history, and will happen in the future. They are natural events, caused by water vapor, hot and cold temperatures colliding, stress on rocks underground, etc. Man must blame someone on the "outs" as the cause for these events. Pick whatever group you wish to blame. Divine intervention would be if your location was surrounded by flooded homes and you house had a 15 wall of water hovering over you, but not flooding your house. Other than that it is just time and chance and the decision one took as to where to live. The chance of hurricanes and earthquakes are slim at the North Pole.
ReplyDelete"I wonder if having god drown my niece's kitten in the flood made her question her Episcopalian views. Maybe it was an unusually evil cat. Theology sure gets confusing for me."
ReplyDeleteFor anyone with the REAL Spirit of God (and I'm talking the REAL H.S. and not the false Episcopalian kind), it would be obvious that this is a lesson that Father God and Jesus, too, think she should have had crabs instead.
Crabs may not be as soft and cuddly as kittens, but, after all, would better help her prepare for the Invasion of Infidels into the USA which is now fully underway and fulfilling Biblical prophecy in shocking, mind-boggling, unmistakably mighty ways.
6.28AM Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods are natural events. However, if peoples were pleasing God, He would eliminate or minimized them. See what happens in Christs one thousand year rule. God is under no obligation to protect people if they choose to live in flood prone areas. The 'don't tempt God' thingy

ReplyDeleteThe various self-appointed, money-collecting, religious leaders in the United States need to realize that rejecting and trampling on God's Sabbath day (that was commanded by God in one of his Ten Commandments to be remembered and observed) in order to observe their own custom and tradition of Sunday-observing is a serious sin no matter what word games they play to try to get around it. They, too, are sinners who disobey God, even though they try to make themselves out to be different and better than some other people who disobey God. They do not realize that all their own Sunday-observing “righteousness” really is as filthy rags. If sinners get washed away in a flood, the Sabbath-profaning Sunday-observers could be among them. They are fooling their own selves if they think there is safety in numbers and that they can get away with such regular, weekly disobedience as long as professing “Christians” everywhere are doing it.
A homosexual was quoted in a newspaper article as asking, “Why should we obey God's laws?” He pointed out that “Christians” do not obey God's laws, and he specifically mentioned that they reject God's Sabbath and observe Sunday instead.
ReplyDeleteFear not the earthquakes, but rather fear the earthquacks.
Personally, I never worried too much about Homosexuals causing earthquakes or floods. I did worry about them spreading acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
In the same way, I never worried too much about other sexually immoral people causing earthquakes or floods. I did worry about them spreading sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Likewise, I never worried too much about illegal drugs or smoking causing earthquakes or floods. I did worry about them frying brain cells and causing lung cancer and strokes.
Furthermore, I never worried too much about the current gambling mania causing earthquakes or floods. I did worry about it causing massive financial losses.
This is not to say that too much sinning cannot eventually lead to earthquakes or floods, but there are more immediate consequences than that.
Of course, there goes someone spouting about "where people choose to live", while blithely ignoring the fault zone, dormant volcano, tornado alley, etc they write from as inspectors are busily checking the nearest nuclear and chemical plants.
ReplyDeleteResponding to August 19, 2016 at 8:19 AM:
ReplyDeleteKeeping the sabbath or sunday does not build character. It only pacifies their child-like mind
that they will be seen as acceptable and deemed worthy in the eyes of their human leaders. Think about that for a moment. They are in fear of disobeying whom?
DBP
It's clear that the natural disasters are punishment from God to punish a people who allow false prophets in their midst.
ReplyDeleteWe could perform a simple experiment: Kill off the false prophets as the Bible commands and then see if the weather gets better.
Start with Roderick Meredith....

ReplyDelete1.01 PM you are ignoring levels of risk. If it wasn't for government mandated insurance laws, companies would refuse insuring homes in high risk zones.
ReplyDeleteSaid the folks living near Chernobyl.
ReplyDeleteThe original post concluded with saying: "...If I were these men I would learn to keep my mouth shut because their track record has already been 100% wrong. Scapegoats are always needed in order for the self-righteous to feel superior..."
ReplyDeleteBecause of all of the ignorance that has been displayed by so many, that is excellent advice for all of them!
Then in comes an update from Tony Perkins, who openly admits his ignorance when he wrote this: “...He also allows those same elements to be used as a means of testing our faith and devotion to Him. Is this a test of our faith or a chastisement from God? I don’t have that answer..."
That's right, Tony never did "have that answer." He was ignorant. If Tony were living back during the time of the ancient Israelites back in Moses' day, he could have performed a burnt offering for that ignorance (Numbers 15), but this is today.
Besides, does Tony even know the difference between God and god? And a "test of our faith:" what is that? Why test us? Doesn't God know that we would all fail? And a "chastisement from God?" Again, why chastise us? By what standard?
We all have a lot of ignorance, if truth be told. Yes, Tony admitted something worth repeating: "I don't have the answer." Now, if only Tony will remember that he wrote that!
And time will tell...
