A comment on the Dale Schurter and David C Pack: The Love Story That Wasn't
- I have the shameful confession of being a member of the RCG for 7 years, from 2008 - 2015. I never knew Dale Schurter, but he spoke like a very genuine and nice fellow. It is easy to make jokes, but the reality is people in groups like the Restored Church of God are genuinely trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately the reality has nothing to do with members deluded perceptions. They (once me too) are held captive by their own shortcomings as a christian, i.e. lack of diligence in discerning the truth. The result is destroyed lives for members and their families.
With regard to the fish in the pond episode, the truth is stranger than anything you could make up. I remember sitting and listening to two sermons where Pack ridiculed Dale Schurter. The first one Pack was raging (for well over an hour) about the lack of Godly fear amongst the congregation and ministry and used the carp being put in the lake as an example of self willed arrogance, of complete ungodliness. Then a few weeks later Pack announced the culprit was Dale Schurter, and that Dale had early onset dimentia, and was being retired. No apology for the previous cursing of the man.
After I left the RCG in late 2015, I contacted several ex ministers, one of which had worked with Pack at 'headquarters' for over 10 years. He related how Pack had sanctioned the whole fish in the lake exercise, dragged all the staff away from their work to witness a cutsie ceremony at the lake, to witness the genious of 'Gods' natural means of controlling weeds in waterways.
Later when the fish had eaten all of the weed, the water turned muddy and became an eyesore, and unfit for 'Gods' headquarters. Pack now claiming complete ignorance of the ungodly act undertaken in secret by a lone perpetrator, sought a scape goat. He did so in a public and vicious manner.
Pack is simply insane, and most likely demon possessed, so his conduct is not that surprising. To me the most sickening part of this element of the RCG story, is that the whole drama was watched by dozens of 'true' christians who thought it more righteous to see an innocent man humiliated in front of the entire 'world wide' congregation, and allow an open and public lie to go unchecked, than to obey any essence of christianity or common decency.
Pack is the definition of high level narcissistic personality disorder. The 'fish in the lake' is the very tip of the iceberg concerning Pack.
I noticed that Malm on his Shining light blog, now claims that at the end of Christs one thousand year rule, humans beings will inhabit this planet another seven thousand years. These people are all going nuts. It's as if there is a Olympic Games type competition for who can make the most outlandish claims. Move over Doctor Strange.
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one who's seen the "demon" issues!!
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the suicides in his past church areas, there are accounts where he "brought something with him" when he went to members
I am very very sad for all the members of RCG....that man is NOT what RCG members think he is..this is serious
May God have mercy on the RCG membership.
Their nightmare may have already begun
The solution is simple. Disfellowship Pack.
ReplyDeleteDave has never and will tolerate "carping" in church much less his sacred ponds of purity. He'll freak when it fills with unauthorized fish brought in compliments of fish eggs stuck to visiting birds feet which is how we explain "who put fish in my pond?"
ReplyDeletePack tells WHALES of lies, is very FISHY, a vicious SHARK , is CRABBY and a BOTTOM FEEDER , who unfortunately gets other people to bite into the bait and get hooked.

One of the extremely serious problems I have noticed with the religious leaders on the so-called COG scene is that you never really know in advance what all new ideas they might come up with in the future after their followers have invested (that is, wasted) too much time listening to them, and have gone to too much trouble following them (such as wrecking their families), and have spent (that is, squandered) too much money supporting them, to be able to walk away easily. The doctrinal changes that false religious leaders can slip in slowly, and sometimes suddenly, can be quite shocking.
Personally, I tend to view the false prophets like Gerald Flurry and David Pack as being specially sent and directed by Satan to try to utterly destroy those who were just sincerely trying to hold onto some of the things that they had been taught by Herbert W. Armstrong. That is why I am sometimes reluctant to refer to some of these false prophets as self-appointed. The way they behave, it really does look like they were appointed by Satan himself and specially sent and directed to lie to, steal from, destroy the families of, and kill, former WCG members.
At the start of the Restored Scam, David Pack taught some things, and even wrote booklets “proving” them. A number of years later, he deleted those same booklets of his own that he had written, and replaced them with a bunch of noise that supposedly “proved” some totally different things. How could anyone have seen that coming? Well, one of the early employees at RCG headquarters said that David Pack changes his mind about things more than anyone else he knows of. Another warning that I can think of is that after David Pack had written so many booklets, he said (for some strange reason) that the Devil would not go to all the trouble of having him produce all that literature just for him to go bad in the end. Someone commented immediately that, “Yes he would.” When he decided to start promoting himself to higher offices, David Pack claimed that all the writing he had done was one of the “proofs” that he was an apostle. Does deleting his own booklets that he wrote also delete his promotion to apostle that he gave himself?
You mentioned a “lack of diligence in discerning the truth.” Looking back on everything with the supposed advantage of 20/20 hindsight, can you think of any way that you could have seen through David Pack earlier on?
To answer an earlier anon's question-
ReplyDeleteFYI, Miguel de la Rodente's says his beliefs are inconsequential, and he's the alter ego of Byker Bob.
"He's the alter ego of Biker Bob."
DeleteWowee Zowee! I too have now been insulted by one of the anonymous wonders! Somebody quick get me some brie laced with Abilify!
Pack is now preaching that Christ comes physically and takes the throne in Jerusalem. He does this, before returning as King of Kings.
ReplyDeleteDo people get what this man is saying?
He is preaching for the Anti=Christ, for that is what the Anti-Christ does.
10.50 AM. When I first stumbled across Dave Packs church and started reading his literature, the Holy Spirit warned me away from joining Daves church. So yes, there was a 'way that you could have seen through Dave Pack.'

James Malm rebelliously left the Worldwide Church of God in 1985 to try to “think for himself” while Herbert W. Armstrong was still alive. James' wife got into that “sacred names nonsense” and divorced him for not going along with it too, and James got into “calendar confusion.” Having never paid attention in the WCG, James also “garbled the gospel.” Now, the apostle Paul's double curse might catch up with James. Some sort of triple or quadruple curse will probably catch up with those who listen to and support James. When people reject what HWA had taught, and listen to James instead, and then imagine that they are finally “thinking for themselves,” that is all part of the curse. They have lost their minds at that point.
James Malm has criticized HWA for various things. According to James, HWA was wrong and bad. Now, you are supposed to reject what bad, old HWA had taught, believe everything that wonderful James comes up with instead, send your money to James, and imagine that you are finally “thinking for yourself.”
As someone noticed, you can learn the “odd” thing from James Malm. Actually, you can learn many “odd” things from James. Nevertheless, James is still just a small-time, amateur nut. It could be even worse. Much worse. David Pack has the real, competitive, Olympic spirit necessary to surpass even James Malm at saying crazy things and showing everyone who the one true nut really is. Move over James Malm. Move over Gerald Flurry. Move over Dr. Strange.
How many of us, if we had the means to have a pond or lake on our properties, would have just shrugged the carp-weed damage off as a learning experience? Stuff happens. Nobody died, no buildings collapsed, and no permanent damage. Seems like a good fishing party, or a cherry bomb and M-80 extravaganza could remedy the whole sad situation. Pack could open these activities to the greater Wadsworth community, charge admission, and award prizes.
ReplyDeleteI think it was very clear to most of us precisely what would eventually happen to Dale Schurter at the hands of Dave Pack. Unfortunately, same as generally happens to everyone else who volunteers to become one of DP's codependents.

10.50AM Daves original government booklet was off. He kept saying over and over, that the church leader decides the 'truth,' passes it on to the ministers, who in turn, pass it on to the members. The ministers, as part of their terms of employment, are obliged to teach their employees doctrines. But the members are not obligated to blindly believe what is 'passed on.' That is, Dave from the very beginning, gave himself the perk of lording it over members faith, something strongly condemned in the bible. Now why would he want to lord it over peoples faith if he was going to teach the truth? The truth is in harmony with reality, so there is no motive to lord it over others.
ReplyDeleteJust saying, this was a big tell tail sign that Dave was trouble.
Not forgetting, Dave cashed in on his lording perk, by demanding that members give him all their money.
Hi Miguel,
ReplyDeleteIt's not an insult I believe. I was not surprised by that comment at all.
My computer told me the same thing. That you and BB are the same.
But hey, I do not believe in the infallability of the computer. It might be a glitch in the blog software. Or may be not.

Dear Connie,
ReplyDeleteFrankly SCALLOP, I don't give a CLAM about Dave the Rave.
Holy MACKEREL Connie, Dave FLOUNDERS around and SKATES by on issues. He CARPS about everything and just needs to SCALE back on his FISHY ways.
Dave COD do better but he doesn't really try. He hooks others to do his work then thrown them back into the deep when the waters get rough.
Dave does this stuff on PORPOISE too! No accidents at all. He is aware of his own slimy ways.
But Connie, I DOlPHINETLY think you are onto something but I will take some time to MULLET over.
Love,
senior citizen
Luke's story seems to be a little off. I am pretty sure the fish added during the little ceremony thing were not the same as the carp that caused the problems.
ReplyDeleteIt was confusing and odd though so I am not surprised that people didn't understand what was going on.
Holy MACKEREL, I feel another splinter coming on:
ReplyDeleteThe Restored 'Carpe Demon' Church of God\
They'll be fishing for members soon for the CRAPPIE church. I feel it in my SOLE:
This news ain't just coming down the PIKE- I SMELT it coming.
Be sure to TUNA your radio in to listen, as the KINGFISH SLIMEHEAD, TRUMPETERs the World TOPMINNOW broadcast, lol!
(He won't exactly deny MOLLUSKing his daughter, either.)
