Dave Pack: I am going to ask Christ About Facebook...It is the tool of the Devil!!!!!

Dave Pack is NOT happy that ministers in various COG's are on Facebook.  FB is the tool of the devil.  Dave is so irritated by ministers using FB that when Jesus Christ walks onto the Wadsworth compound he is going to to walk right up to Jesus Christ and ask him about Facebook. His "christ" is going to tell him to throw FB down the toilet.

Now, God is upset with the ministers. We saw that…Haggai 2 and Malachi 2, “And now, O you priests”…That’s a different group than the “sons of Levi.” It’s a longer discussion, but they’re not completely the cause of the atrocious spiritual condition of thousands of people in 400 groups. They’re not. They’re a big part of it, but people are big boys and girls. They go get a tattoo—they did it themselves. They break the Sabbath, commit adultery, go on Facebook and just celebrate vanity—look at me, look at me, look at me. I’ll tell you what, I’m going to ask Christ…But when the kingdom is established, He’ll tell us Facebook should be flushed down the toilet. There’s nothing on Facebook that you should ever do publicly. It’s a tool directly of the devil. Now, if you can use it privately in some way, fine. But here’s Facebook, let me summarize it—me, me, me, me, me, me, me—everybody, see me—see me. See how wonderful I am. See my pictures. See everything about me, me, me, me, me—that’s Facebook. Now, those are its good points. You want me to give you the bad points? [laughter]

  2. Same argument as used in the fifties for television on which his master was a pioneer broadcaster. Of course when your emotional problems prevent you from narrow casting or establishing relationships.......blame facebook.......Nck

  3. What Dave sees as vanity or ego is often just an innocent attempt to share personal news with friends and family. There are Christian Pastors out there who encourage using Facebook in maintaining wholesome, normal family relationships. They use it as an alternative to periodic phone calls. I'm sure that even Gerald Flurry would approve of a family displaying a portrait of one of their children in a PCG Irish dancing costume on their Facebook page.

Dave is blinded to this, because through his own personal filters, he only sees the ways in which Facebook is used against him, in competition to him, in defiance of him, or to share or promote activities which Armstrongian Phariseeism identifies as sinful.

Get with your old boss, Dave. Herbie Always taught that it was not "the thing", but rather the "use of" the thing which makes something bad or sinful. Facebook has accomplished as much good as the telephone, photography, and letters mailed through the USPS.

  4. Dave Pack is all about me, me, me, and me. There is no other than David Pack. He is numero uno. If Facebook is evil so is Mr. Pack.

    “A vast library of literature, cutting edge web sites, initial staff and ministry, headquarters campus, buildings, immense infrastructure of all kinds and more;
an amazing campus, so stunning, so visually beautiful as to stagger the imagination has been built. This truly magnificent campus is almost complete- at just
under a 100 acres, its central features parallel Pasadena and Big Sandy with even some reminders of Bricket Wood: it can comfortably handle over 100 more employees
    immediately…

An extraordinary video filmed last Fall introduces what will soon be everyone’s headquarters- as gorgeous as the campus was then, it has advanced far beyond what
the video reveals. The last polish phase should be done in a couple months; any final buildings would come later.”

"...look at me, look at me, look at me."

  6. He's right the is alot of 'me me' vanity on social media but it's hypocritical of him as his publications and website shouts 'me me me me' at viewers. His whole campus is a expensive exercise in 1970s vanity. Trying to recapture AC putting himself in hwa place. It was vanity in Herbert day and it's vanity in Pack too.

Dave is a tool of the Devil. That is why Dave initially talked about restoring everything that HWA had taught, but then ended up teaching totally different things.

  8. Yup, "me, me, me". When he wants it to be all about him, him, him.

  9. The thing is, for it all to have gone on so long, someone back in the '70s would just have to know that proponents of Armstrongism would have started going crazy years ago. Who knew that we'd ever be cuing up videos of Leslie West (a personal favorite guitarist) doing a duet from his wheel chair of Mississippi Queen with Miranda Lambert? Or that Barry Newman, the protagonist of Vanishing Point (the film in which the original version of Mississippi Queen was featured) would be an elderly, white-haired grandfatherly type gentleman?

Surely, we can realize why the remnants of these ACOGs, and their teachers, would be going a little crazy! I mean, even Sonny Barger is now in his 70s! People would need to have become better grounded than their Armstrongism, or of course there would be all manner of new observations and restrictions, if nothing else, just for them to maintain a semblance if sanity!

I rest my case about Dave and projection. Makes you say.."But that's what you do!"

  11. As I've mentioned it here before, the greatest taboo on this planet is self love. I read that in a book, and after years of observation, concluded that the author is right. Herb preached it with his 'beware the evils of self esteem and the evil of competition,' and Dave is endorsing it with his complaints of me, me. me, me etc.
The true message, as some here have discerned, is 'don't love yourself, rather love me.' 'Don't pursue your hopes and dreams, but rather pursue my hopes and dreams'
Dave like Herb, believes that the world revolves around him, so everyone should devote themselves to serving him hand and foot. Hence the demonizing of self love.
It's the wolf talking the lambs, the fox talking to the chickens.
Embrace self love folks. Love your self and be proud of it. Dave and similar can go weep and gnash their teeth.

  12. Comment by the Pack man said: "...They break the Sabbath, commit adultery, go on Facebook and just celebrate vanity—look at me, look at me, look at me. Well, not that Satan couldn't use facebook, but that is so stupid to say.

For one thing, without facebook, Satan could accomplish the following:

"And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will." 2 Timothy 2:26

IOW, the Pack man, Dave himself could easily be snared and not even know it, but by Dave's fruits.......well, that could tell us something.

But ask Christ? No need to do that to tie facebook to vanity, b/c Jesus Christ would most likely give the same response that the apostle Paul gave:

"For the creature was MADE SUBJECT TO VANITY, NOT willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope," Romans 8:20

Maybe Christ would preface that comment by Paul with a simple: "Duh!"

But Dave need not worry, b/c there is really hope for Dave...for all of us.

    And time will tell...

  13. Social Media, WWW, Blogs militate against a cult leader's need to isolate his followers from family, friends, academia.

  14. Of course, whatever pops into his head will be the latest revelation directly from Christ. Yeah, right! Just like British Israelism and anti-makeup was to Herb. I also remember when that old fool forbade drama clubs at Ambassador because it was teaching us kids to be play actors (hypocrites). That lasted until we had a chorale to put on things like South Pacific and an auditorium to host all those professional "hypocrites" so he could hob nob with all the great of the world and pretend to be a great patron of the arts.
