Will God listen to LCG brass for calling another fast? Apparently time is short once again, and Weston and friends feel that they need to make the brethren afflict themselves in order for the big boys to do a "great work" in these horrific, vile and dangerous end times. Apparently the big boys in Charlotte have been weak in the "correct motivation" department and they expect the brethren to afflict themselves so they can do a mighty work.
For decades the leadership of the church, and especially the LCG leadership, has been filled with career boys who lived a high lifestyle with nice homes, great cars, even greater ministerial stipends and loads of other perks that the normal membership can only dream about. The members suffer while the leadership indulges. Just look back at Lil'Jimmy's escapades as he did and still does reconnaissance for festival sites.
God is NOT going to change any plans he has for the world just because Weston and friends think they can influence God to shower blessings upon them. It has not worked in the past at any point in LCG's history, so why will it now? The big boys want their followers to believe it does, but it never has.
February 09, 2017 By Gerald Weston Greetings from Charlotte,
The March/April Tomorrow’s World has now gone to the printers and will be coming out shortly. This issue is expanded by four pages to make room for Dr. Meredith’s first installment on the Protestant Reformation. We hope all of you will read this eye-opening series as it is clearly one of the most important statements ever written on the subject. The semi-annual letter that went out in December continues to bring in responses. So far, we have more than 38,500 individual requests for the DVD “A Culture in Crisis.” As all of you long-time members know, we usually have at least one Church-wide fast during the year. The subject came up at one of our executive luncheons and Dr. Meredith immediately agreed that this is something we should do. Our time to finish this Work is limited and we can never finish the Work on our own strength. It behooves us to truly draw closer to God the Father and Jesus Christ. Heart-felt fasting with the correct motivation is the greatest tool we have for doing so. Therefore, we have set aside the Sabbath of March 18 for a Church-wide fast to draw closer to God as our world becomes more and more divided and storm clouds rise higher on the horizon. We will have more information regarding this subject in subsequent weeks.—GEW

ReplyDeleteMore fake history? Meredith, the Dr. Hoeh (who was illegitimate as a doctor) of our time will present a twisted view of history to make his tithe slaves feel special and unique.
His final lie shall be discerned then mocked. To the lake of fire!
James quoted: Dr. Meredith’s first installment on the Protestant Reformation.
ReplyDeleteWasn't that the topic of Rod's masters thesis? I vaguely remember skimming through it a few years ago...
What is ironic is they decided to call a fast during an executive luncheon. Nice. Did anyone notice Gerald's initials? GEW, which could be pronounced Goo, which by definition is a slimy mucous like substance.
ReplyDeleteIf you keep making people do things, it keeps them engaged. No requirements to the org would gradually allow members to float away and achieve independent equillibrium. They know this. Hence, yet another fast.
ReplyDeleteThe ACOGs behave like a needy ex-wife, codependent friend, or invalid who requires constant attention. Certainly, at this point, nobody is attracted to an ACOG for its strengths. Old habits + fear of social isolation is all that keeps them plodding along.

"Our time to finish this Work is limited"
ReplyDeleteThis catch-phrase often heard from the COGs just sounds more ridiculous each time you hear it.
Even the largest of the splinters, nor even the original WCG in its heyday, was nowhere near "preaching the gospel to the whole world", not even in their dreams.
Such a small percentage of the world that even knew the WCG existed. So much even lower now as to be difficult to distinguish from 0%.
Although to be fair, I think Meredith's group got some semi-national coverage when their shooting occurred, someone could correct me if Im wrong there.
(Not quite a gospel message of course...)
It's an interesting aberration when one thinks about it. Trying to impress "god" and get his attention by suffering. I used to take part in that nonsense too. If that fictitious being knows everything and controls everything, what's the point?

How is fasting on the Sabbath a day of rest? The only reason they have it on this day is that it allows the members to be bullied by the leaders and their lapdogs on this point.
ReplyDeleteI bet Rod was tempted to dedicate the fast to his healing... again.
"If you keep making people do things, it keeps them engaged. No requirements to the org would gradually allow members to float away and achieve independent equillibrium. They know this. Hence, yet another fast."
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, always something to keep your mind focused on "the Work." Endless fundraising, newsstand drives, driving two hours to services each week, etc. Not to mention twisting news every week, because we only have 3 to 5 years left! This all helps to keep people's minds so focused on the "end just around the corner," that you cannot think about anything else.
Just like at the Feast each year, so many activities and services, you barely have any time to yourself, or with your family, to do what you want to during "God's vacation for you." Of course, there were other reasons for this, like turning in all of your excess 2nd tithe which you couldn't spend; (because you are always in services). That is, if you actually had enough in the first place.
Fasting is nothing but making yourself hungry.

ReplyDeleteIronic. Discussing ordering required fasting while masticating.
And, as I've written before, fasting on the Sabbath is not done, except if it's also Yom Kippur or Tisha B'Av, or an urgent situation. I don't think the reason considered by the LCG execs qualifies as an urgent situation.
"Will God listen to LCG brass for calling another fast?"
ReplyDeleteThe cults that I have been through didn't do this all too often, or not any that I can remember.
What is their "sky pie" logic? How or why would this work? I know it won't work but I'm interested in this fallacy from an armstrongists view.

Isn't God an all knowing merciful God who knows your every need before you ask?
ReplyDeleteAnd if it is God's Work, why would He abandon it so that you have to beg to get Him interested in again and fix problems? Is He such a flake that He starts something and then just forgets about it?
Moreover, why doesn't God just answer the prayer of one person? What ever happened to 'the prayer of a righteous man avails much'? Why does it take a GROUP of people to pray before He provides what He needs for His Work?
Furthermore, why does this GROUP of people have to fast to get God's attention to get Him to do what He was supposed to do in the first place to 'fix' His Work?
In the immortal words of President Lyndon B. Johnson upon learning that all power to New York City was off, "Something must be wrong here".

ReplyDeleteEven more ironic: Those "executive luncheons" are paid for by LCG. Ministers don't bring their own lunches. The brethren's tithes paid for the meal at which the executives decided the brethren must fast.
The "tree of life" in the garden of armstrongism!
