Well done! These are the same things that all of us who have left the cult have dealt with.

  2. The lies of the ACOG is the very reason I prefer to attend The Church Of God (Seventh Day). At least they follow the teachings of Christ and not the false prophets HWA, Gerald Flurry & David Pack.

  3. So true and painful to read.
    It's a life sentence.

  4. You know, I never had that reaction at all.
    Maybe I didn't "get it".
Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

  5. I guess there is text in those pictures I'll try pasting them into MS onenote later & c if it'll read the text.

BTW I haven't seen anything about what y'all think about season 2 of a&e's Scientology show so far, looks like pissing off Leia reimi might have been one of their biggest mistakes they've ever made lol

  6. Hoss. These are by women who have exited the church. Hearing their stories as they tell them shows that they suffer more than men do in the cult.

  7. Hoss,
My impression when I attended services was that the ministers basically left some members alone. Similar to school teachers ignoring some students.
I don't think everyone was equally impacted by the church.

  9. What is going on in these groups? Sometimes I think the ministers enjoy provoking and insulting the members. Just look at this most recent Living Church of God sermon, Maintaining Truth and God's Watchful Care. Seven seconds into the opening video, there's a clip of a shepherd herding goats rather than sheep! What kind of subtle message does that send to brethren watching the video?

  10. In my past life as a WCG member I was essentially left alone by the ministry, but I suspect that it was only because I was a generous contributor. I never did fit in to the churches way of doing things. I adamantly refused to join Spokesman's Club even though I was constantly harassed by some members to do so. One local elder even signed me up without consulting with me, so that led to some interesting conflicts later on! I hated that damned club with all my being, and I didn't spare my words on a few occasions when the harassment got a bit heavy. I never did fit the proper church member role, and I always made a vacation out of the FOT even though it wasn't politically correct to do so. My sense of fashion wasn't the greatest either, and even with my sometimes disheveled appearance and long sideburns, I wasn't bothered.

It amazes me now that I put up with all the nonsense for so long, but within the group of fellow church members that I associated with, there were an awful lot of things going on that the ministry wouldn't have approved of. So in a sense I was living two lives, the one life with the shallow churchy veneer, and my real life where I continued to pursue my own interests and priorities, and to hell with what Armstrong would natter about when some trivial issue got his goat!

After my wife and I left the WCG and attended a mainstream church for ten years it finally dawned on me that neither one of us were "church material" and never would be. It took a long time for me to realize this, but now that I do, I feel free of any spiritual obligation for us to join another church organization. But I still maintain my faith in God and a Redeemer, and can rejoice in the fact that I don't have to listen to no man any longer with regard to spiritual issues.

My rather "lone wolf" standoffish nature earned me few friends among the higher ups in the WCG church hierarchy or with a few local die hard members, but it kept me away from a lot of the stupid crap that has affected others so terribly.

  11. Mitigator: Good for you. I too left the WCG after four years a year after graduating from AC in 73. I spent ten years teaching at a Methodist Church then left altogether. Now, a small group of other believers meet in our home on Sunday night for a casual meal and Bible study. We (about 12-15 adults) filled over 2,500 Samaritan Purse Christmas Shoe Boxes last year and I go to Tanzania each year to teach theology to a group of Methodists. We also sponsor an orphanage there. Bottom line: you can do more good with a small group of committed Christians than some large organizations do, especially when they are more social clubs than real churches. When people question the way we do things, I just tell them that I can justify what we are doing from Scripture better than they can with what they do in building church buildings, hiring a large staff and people attending a worship service where there is no interaction.

  12. Was in the PCG my entire life.
Attended their college, gave sermonettes, led songs did prayers etc but Nome of those apply to me.

I'm free. 100% I left and I am not a freaking victim. Get over your past.

  13. A typical comment made by an insensitive prick trained at the feet of one of the biggest spiritual abusers the church has ever had. Flurry has abused church members and treated them like dirt for decades. I suffered under pricks like you for years.. You assume no accountability for your actions and are too weak to hold Flurry and his prissy little son accountable for their abuse. How many sermonettes did you preach exhorting members to abandon their children or turn their backs on family members? Did you slap Culpepper and Turd-geons back as they mistreated members? You were part of the filth and you sit there condescendingly tell us to "get over" the abuse? One of my relatives DIED because of the ministry of the church, of which you were a part of. You have blood on your hand's just like Flurry and prissy Stephen does. Did you sit in the atrocity called Armstrong Auditorium clapping for gay Malone and his screeching wife and for Flurry's grandkids doing a jig on stage? The church members have paid for every dance lesson these privileged little shits have had, for every Old Testament staged production and the orchestras. Widows and poor members paid for this shit and your salary as you strutted around with your nose up in the air or in Stephen's ass.

  14. They say, There are no victims only volunteers. So, stop complaining all of you! You deserve every bit of everything you had ever experienced in Armstrongism. It's not like someone kidnapped you, it's not like it's a human trafficking, you wanted it, you took it, you enjoyed it, so why the heck are you complaining now?
