Gerald Weston: LCG Women Should Wear Pants Suits Like Condoleezza Rice

Proper dress for LCG women

Not ok for LCG women, even if it is a pantsuit!

Oh, the wisdom of Rod Meredith and Gerald Weston!  Where, oh where, would we be without them?  Apparently, women in LCG are too stupid to know what kinds of pantsuits are ok for church, how to dress modestly, and not to wear clothing that emphasizes their cleavage.

Clothes considered stylish by this world are often lacking in modesty. They are often overly revealing of the female body: very short shorts, skirts that are overly tight and short, low-cut dresses that emphasize cleavage, and so on. Double entendre slogans on sweatshirts and T-shirts, also, are suggestive and inappropriate. When a woman is constantly trying to stretch her skirt to cover more of her thighs when sitting down, maybe this should tell her something.
Part of the problem with dress is the ever-changing culture. Some things considered immodest in past generations are considered very old-fashioned today. There is also the issue of occasion. A tennis skirt may be modest on the court, but not for an algebra class. Swimsuits would not be appropriate for Sabbath services.
Then there is the question that comes up from time to time regarding whether women can wear pants for Sabbath services. Dr. Roderick C. Meredith made it clear a number of years ago that a nice pantsuit may be appropriate. This may especially be true for individuals who have leg problems or who live in very cold climates. But, here is the problem: All that some heard when he explained this was that “pants are okay,” but that is not what he said. He spoke of nice pantsuits and gave the example of Condoleezza Rice (former Secretary of State under President George Bush) who often wore pantsuits in the conduct of government business. He was not talking about sweat pants, jeans, or casual pants.

  1. i have been all over the united states and i must say that the most attractive women i have met are the mennonite ladies dressed in their skirts...call me old fashioned, but i know for a fact that there are plenty of men that do concur...

i also must confess, though maybe i am biased, but my growing up i never saw my grandmother in anything other than a dress...i can remember her playing softball at a church picnic, running barefoot in a dress..

  2. I recently saw a portrait of Mr. And Mrs. Gerald Weston posing at their home. It was a remarkable painting. Someone had even named it. American Gothic, I believe.

  3. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14

Way to stick to the important, world-shaking stuff, G.W.!

  4. In my first sermon to my new congregation in SC, where I was replacing Gerald Weston, I was endeavoring to illustrate who I was and how I thought etc. I chose the random phrase “I’d rather have a Snickers Bar than drink a bottle of Dom Perignon”. They laughed but it seemed a bit too much. Later I was told that GW always mentioned Dom Perignon as something one might want to get for the Night to Be Much Observed, as I recall, to have along with their best dishes and such and they thought I was taking a shot at GW. What I said was just a coincidence but it got me off to a good start with most. Not the Deacons and Elders...no...not them.

    1. (shrug) Get one on the back or side of neck and I guess you'll never be attending any services ever in your lifetime.

    2. Perzactly! Imagine some teenager who had left the church coming back several years later with a Jesus tattoo on his or her neck! A leper would receive more of an outpouring of love!

  7. Dennis you barbarian you.

Dom Perignon, along with Harvey's Bristol Cream and some others were the official Ambassador Quality, Apostle approved specialties for the occassion.

To have that go along WITH a dish would equal having a snickers go along with a dish.

You gotta appreciate the intricate findings of that French monk from Hautvillers.

Ah well. In the end chocolate wins. (it better be slave free chocolat then if we are to usher in a better world)

And to stay on topic. Should the curvy legs of my coffee table be covered in summer, or only in winter?

    1. I don't know, nck. I like Budweiser, Jose Cuervo Especial, White Zinfandel wine, Blue Moon Belgian White Ale, and an occasional Mudslide. Even if I were at a hoity toity party, I'd go for any one of those over a Dom Perignon or Harvey's. Matter of fact, I'd take a Mickey's Big Mouth over Dom.

What, like covering up all the other real life human foibles and failings. Dress proper and pretend to be holier than..."

Why do they continually overlook /ignore "clean the inside of the cup and the platter and the outside will be clean"? Even if we have a few dings and chips and marks from a former life.

  11. I showed up to an LCG dinner dance during the Feast at Lake of the Ozarks in a beautiful $2000 St. John's pants suit and Gerald Weston told me that I (a 33 year old grown woman) wouldn't be permitted to dance because I wasn't wearing a skirt or a dress. I think that was 2002 or 2003.

It certainly seems he'd have bigger issues to address at this point.

It continues to baffle me that Mr. Weston is nitpicking about ladies clothes, birthdays and TV shows but he does nothing about the rampant corruption at LCG headquarters and he does nothing to stop Jim Meredith's outrageous expenditure of tithe payer cash on extravagant trips or the grossly wasteful spending within Living University.

I had hoped that he would be man enough to deal with liars like Rod McNair and Wyatt Ceiseilka. I have no doubt that Weston sees them for what they are. Meredith was oblivious but Weston is astute. He obviously knows but has consciously decided to just look the other way.

Weston is a lot of things but I never took him for a hypocrite. It has been shameful to see him go with the flow of ungodliness at HQs. He's apparently okay with Rod McNair's lies and evil works but kids at camp had better have those shirts tucked in OR ELSE!!!

LCG HQ is a deeply corrupting environment. Many in LCG can cite the example of at least one or two people they knew before HQ hired them, and can testify firsthand how these formerly decent people quickly became apologists for HQ corruption, and soon enough became very corrupt themselves.

Weston has it within his power to put LCG "back on track." He was there when LCG formed out of Global, so he knows that you can get more done with a smaller staff of converted people than with a larger staff of corrupt people, and he saw for himself how God blessed LCG after the split with GCG. The only reason for him not to fire a bunch of liars and perverts and incompetents is if he fears the HQ demons more than he fears God, or if he himself has become corrupted by the HQ demons.

To be fair, Weston hasn't had full control of LCG since a little while after the Passover this year, with Feast of Tabernacles preparations already well underway. By Passover 2018, however, we should know whether Weston will put LCG "back on track" or whether Weston will be satisfied hanging on to a corrupt organization until he dies.
