The soon to be defunct Living University is going full steam ahead with its spring semester and is offering this tantalizing class:
THL 345 – Christian Men. This course examines God’s expectations for true Christian men. It deals with Christian men as husbands, fathers and masculine leaders of the family and society. Topics include the purposes God made men for, being a loving leader and head of a family and key areas in which Christian men are challenged to mature and excel. This class is a must for any man wishing to develop his true God-given potential as a Christian man. It is also helpful for those married to and even raising Christian men (ladies). Why is it that the Church of God has to teach its men how to be men? I see plenty of masculine men in the neighborhoods around Pasadena, along with men who know they are men at church. yet the COG has a problem with this. Why?
Take a look at the masculine men who comprise the Living University faculty. Several seem like they would be much better candidates for a chess club or a flower arranging class than for any truly masculine endeavors. Rod Meredith surrounded himself in Charlotte with some of LCG's most effeminate ministers, so it's downright bizarre that these ladyboys are now LCG's arbiters of masculinity.
ReplyDeleteWhy, you ask? Because modern society is turning men into wimps.
ReplyDeleteHaven't you been watching cable news lately? Or seen the cover of the latest Time magazine???
OK, that may be stretching things a bit. But still, I can imagine some COG preachers claiming that.
Is Roderick C Meredith teaching the class....?? Thats about all he talked about in Bible 101 at AC....
ReplyDeleteI remember him saying that it was appropriate to bash a guy's head on the curb while waiting for the police if the dude had assaulted a co-ed...
A lot personality is covered by basic genetics. Acting is a well-known cover. Think Tab Hunter. I knew a lady who was into horses, and because Tab Hunter was also into the same hobby was quite well acquainted with him. On screen, he projected a really macho image. Marine. In person, his personality was completely different. One of the problems with the ACOGs is that they are all about outward appearance, and that often causes deceptiveness. This is yet another example.
ReplyDeleteLiving Uniperversity teaches deceit. Why not teach people that whatever and whomever you are, be real and sincere? Also, nothing wrong with a little polish.

Masculine men in Charlotte? ROTFLMAO! Masculine men in LU, even funnier!
ReplyDeleteI remember some of the men in the Tupelo, Mississippi, Florence, Alabama, and Jackson, Tennessee congregations in WCG needed to stay the hell away from the kitchen table. Yes, they needed to be on a diet.
ReplyDelete1:14 PM, surely you are not saying the men were fat?! PMSL
DeleteSyllabus for THL 345 – Christian Men.
ReplyDeleteCharacteristics of a Masculine LCG Man:
1. Pays all his tithes regularly to LCG.
2. Gives generous offerings above and beyond his tithes.
3. Always remembers to pay tithe-of-the-tithe before the Feast of Tabernacles.
4. Submits gladly to the directives of the LCG ministry.
5. Keeps his wife in submission to the LCG ministry.
6. Keeps his wife in submission to her husband where that submission does not conflict with the role of the LCG ministry.
7. Teaches his children to submit to the LCG ministry.
8. Teaches his children to submit to their mother and to him where that submission does not conflict with the role of the LCG ministry.

10. Obeys the Old Testament Law in emulation of Jesus the Christ.
Will the class include steroids and testosterone shots that will be administered by a registered nurse?
ReplyDeleteIf the church ministers were real men they would admit they were wrong about America's wars and stop slandering so-called gentile leaders as evil. They are not qualified to rule because they are afraid to be unpopular and just want to believe the fake history of the corrupt leaders who keep lying us into one war after another. And, if they were Christians, they would speak out against these wars instead of acting like Americans are heroes for maligning and attacking the Japanese and Germans and all the other nations they lie about.
ReplyDeleteThat's WAY off the topic, and yet I sympathize with the comment. Wars are about rich guys getting richer.
DeleteSo a church that robs its members of their adulthood by treating them as irresponsible children, is going to teach masculinity.
ReplyDeleteAn obvious contradiction. But these churches have never tried honoring the reality that God created. Instead, church culture is everyone pretending and faking reality.
Hang with me, learn the laws of the jungle, and me teach you how to be a real He-man.

There is no reason to take such a class if your church mandates that only their ministers can be the alpha male. What good is it to be something if you can't use it?
ReplyDeleteBB
maybe they should have classes on how to buy a home for those who lived in families without money. Or how to invest. Things that will help the poor get ahead in life.
ReplyDeleteDid you notice that in Gerald Weston's December 7 update, he announces that Jonathan McNair will be moving to Charlotte to coordinate the new educational initiative?
ReplyDeleteFor anyone who might have thought the new initiative would downsize the Headquarters bloat, it seems that the opposite is true. Now that the University administrative bloat is being discontinued, wouldn't you think that Michael Germano, Scott Winnail, Ken Frank, Peter Nathan and Doug Lindly would have a little more free time on their hands to repurpose LU resources for the new initiative? Apparently not! Notice, too, that of all the possible field pastors who could be brought to Charlotte to oversee the new project, Weston chose a man from one of LCG's "royal families." The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Anon 620 "Did you notice that in Gerald Weston's December 7 update, he announces that Jonathan McNair will be moving to Charlotte to coordinate the new educational initiative?"
ReplyDeleteThis made my jaw drop.
It is EXTREMELY telling of the direction in which Gerald Weston in going to take LCG. Jonathan McNair is as harsh, unloving, tyrannical, merciless, ego-centric and maniacal as his wicked little brother Rod.
Weston obviously prefers this brand of harshness to Doug Winnail's "softness". I've been waiting to see in which direction LCG would go after RCM's death.
I predict that this is the beginning of a further decline into the right ditch for LCG. I further predict that the Winnails (Doug Winnail - LCG Head of Church Admin and Scott Winnail - LU) will be "transferred" (aka demoted) from LCG headquarters.
When the Winnails fall from grace, it will be interesting to see if they wake up and make a move (likely to COGWA).
Doug and Scott are super indoctrinated but they are also intelligent (actually smart, not just in their own site like Wyatt Ceiseilka and Rod McNair who have a combined IQ of 150).
They have been making excuses to themselves for years to dismiss the wickedness they see at LCG headquarters. They tell themselves, "be patient, God will work it out in time".
When the machine turns against them, it will be interesting to see if Scott and Doug are able to maintain their cognitive dissonance!

If Doug moves to COGWA, he will have to repudiate his new "Falling Away" doctrine. Winnail may be a softie, but he is very egotistical when it comes to matters of his intellect. I cannot imagine him admitting that he was teaching a false doctrine. Weston will probably purchase his silence, and Germano's, with comfortable retirement packages, and then assign Scott a pastorate within a day's drive of his father. LCG members, brainwashed into believing that they are the main group preaching the true Gospel, will see more of their tithes diverted away from preaching the gospel in order to finance the ministry's comfortable retirement.
I’m dying today know who’s teaching this class! I almost choked when I learned that Wyatt Ceisielka was a “professor of theology”. Clearly their standards aren’t very high.
ReplyDeleteThe Winnails aren’t “manly”. The mcNairs are weasels (actually a favored character trait at LCG HQs). Jerry Ruddlesden can’t give a sermonette without crying. Germano wouldn’t stoop low enough to teach such a class. And all the other options are either in geriatric diapers or effeminate.
Does anyone know who will be providing this manly man instruction?
People would be shocked to know how much the ministers at headquarters are being paid. Scott isn’t an anomaly. Several make six figures.
ReplyDeleteIf you’re an LCG member reading this, can you honestly believe they have been stewards of God’s money?
They lost $900,000 on LU in ONE YEAR. Think of how much they lost over its existence.
What could that money have done to feed the flick (hire new ministers) or preach the gospel?
LCG isn’t the COG. It’s merely a business that is being poorly run by greedy, self-serving men that have bamboozled a group of people into believing God is directly inspiring their leader.
Many already hit the nail on the head. Masculinity is "taught" because the ministry are the bosses, both spiritual and mental. A husband is treated as secondary to the minister in the life of the husband's wife and family. What the minister says, goes. Grown mature men, supposedly called of God, are to just submit to some minister; it is an evil system.
ReplyDeleteThe ministry then try to redefine masculinity within the strictures they allow. Remind that a husband sacrifices for his family; this makes the man feel that sacrifice and subordinating your desires/beliefs is part of being a Christian man, and you just need to accept this. So, when the sacrifice and subordination is actually toward the Minister/COG instead of Christ, the man somehow believes this is a good and masculine thing when in fact your masculinity and spiritual leadership is being stripped.
But, Ekklesia, isn't that what it's supposed to be? That we are to "sacrifice and subordinate our desires/beliefs to be a Christian......(wait for it)....woman/wife? You say that the husbands deal with this yet I have to say every single wife also deals with the same thing.
ReplyDeleteThere have been many occasions where great distress has come due to 'having to submit' to the husband's authority. It's almost as if there are 2 ways to disobey God.
1). Even if your husband is in the wrong spiritually, in one area or another, you are to 'submit' to him. This hurts because it feels like disobeying God's many other directives. Especially when there is clear as crystal instruction in the bible.
2). If a wife goes against her husband's authority/does not submit to him and does what her heart, faith and conscience tell her to do... here she is AGAIN disobeying one of God's other directives of "wives submit to your own husbands" as well as, "whatever is not of faith is sin".
Seems often like, wrong if we do and wrong if we don't. All I can say is, it hurts. It seems like individual faith and belief must be thrown to the curb. Conscience is damaged. Spirit is broken.
So, is a wife to 'submit' to her husband no matter what and let the consequences fall where they will? Same goes for the men, are they to 'submit' to whomever a so-called minister is and consequences be damned?
