A Personal Note:

There may be some here on Banned who know Karen Fuessel Diehl, the mom of my two boys, Jeff and Chris Diehl.  I just returned from time with the boys, grandkids and Karen in South Carolina. Karen has been diagnosed with 4th Stage  Glioblastoma. She currently is having difficulty with expressing herself with the correct words etc and cannot write or read words. All symptomatic of this type of brain cancer. Karen and I spent some quality time talking on this recent visit. She is undergoing daily chemo and radiation treatments for the next six weeks.  She is woman of great personal faith and has as good an attitude as one can have in such a situation.

If you wish to keep updated , please feel free to email me at DennisCDiehl@aol.com .  Karen is unable to talk on the phone or read cards and respond at this time.

Sincere thanks to all who have been so kind to date.  She deserves all the love and consideration due her for her life well lived in her faith.  Thank you Gary for this venue to inform those who may know and love her but would not know of her situation without my access to this site.

Dennis

  2. Dennis, If Karen was known as Katie years ago, we were campers at SEP back in the 60's. I remember her well, she was a leader, a lot of fun. I'm so sorry she has to go through this, seems like so many are being betrayed physically in our supposed "golden years." I'll be praying for her! Debbie

  3. Only tyrants live a long life without suffering. Good people are set to suffer for some reason. It is enough to push a person towards atheism.

  4. Dennis, I offer my most sincere sympathies.

My FIL is currently recovering from a series of strokes, and has even less ability to communicate now than the little he did throughout his life.

Odd thing is, he still blasts through his scientific magazines.
I'll tell him you are well, if that's ok with you. I think that would bring a smile.
He's one of the many from the Columbus OH congregation who sometimes, on 'Sabbaths', traveled "out of the assigned area" to hear you speak, Dennis.

  5. Opinionated: Some tyrants suffer too. Life is a crap shoot, and no one can be sure what's coming just ahead.

  9. Thank you all for your kind comments. GB is incurable and the treatment is palliative in nature

  10. Dennis, sorry to hear about Karen. My brother in law passed about six months ago from Glioblastoma so I know how hard it is on them. He was 50 years old with two boys.

May you and yours be comforted.

  12. My condolences to you & yours. Know pretty much how you'd be feeling. My dearly departed (of 50+ years)suffered 6 years from an undiagnosed stroke...not enough physical evidence to pin point same for effective treatment. Until the BIG one came along leaving her a "vegetable" for 13 days until sent home to die 3 days later. Sometimes life just SUX...no 2 ways about it.
No place for platitudes here. All we can do is "hang in there", best we can, 1 day at a time.
Going on a year come 3 days past Thanksgiving Day this one. 1st was when I was at Spokesman
club, in 65. She was only 25 1/2 ys old. Was left with 4 little kids. Not a bit of help from family...just a sympathy card w/$20. so I believe I can truly commiserate with you.

  15. I wish my thoughts and words could make this go away, but, alas they can’t. Best I can do, Dennis, is to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May pleasant memories from the past assist you through this difficult time. Peace
