Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

No Moonies Allowed

Leave it to Armstrongites to be caught up in all kinds of silly conspiracy theories.  One of them has always been that Amercian astronauts never landed on the moon.  Various employees in Pasadena were really wrapped up in this one.

The Kitchen clan has now settled that controversy!  In between the slobberfest of bowing down at their Herbert Armstrong altar, fighting with the Scarborough's, and stealing copyrighted works to put on their site as if they owned them they, they get all giddy over chemtrails, germ spraying, and all kinds of early morning AM radio silliness.

  1. "WE" meaning the rest of us , indeed never went to the moon. But 12 brave men did !

Not mentioned in the original post, but a growing movement, even amongst Sabbatarians, is the idea of "flat earth". All I can do is shake my head in wonderment about some of the nonsense that people will believe and have faith in.

  2. Look, I really apreciate the contributions based on science, knowledge and a lot of opinion by the new blog contributors.

Somehow no2hwas biting, acid sarcasm gets to me, giving me that cheshire cat grin.

I dont know. No2hwa feels to me like when our pastor returned from "refresher program" and the boring subsitute was silenced again for a year.

  3. Benjamin Franklin said that two people could keep a secret only if one of them is dead. Imagine the number of people involved in the Apollo space program. If it was a hoax, it is difficult to believe that the secret hadn't been revealed long ago by many people involved. I also notice that these folks who believe such ideas always quote one another as "proof."

  4. The Mythbuster series did a segment on this. They explored the major accusations of the landing being a fake. One example, it's difficult to fake the astronauts "bounce" on the moon. They tried weightlessness in a plane and thick rubber bands, but it still looked fake. At any rate, Apollo 11,14 and 15 left behind light reflective strips.
All such silliness detracts members minds from what really counts ie, following Christ.

  5. "Not mentioned in the original post, but a growing movement, even amongst Sabbatarians, is the idea of "flat earth"."

Just a little bit of fundamental science knowledge (you know, superior mirages, Coriolis effect, jet streams, solar positions, and oh - satellite/space/shuttle/spacex/nasa imagery is more than enough to silence the "flat earthers". They choose to live in the dark ages.

As far as the Sabbatarian Conspirators go? This is what happens when you focus on everything except what you're supposed to focus on. Everything's a lie, everything's "off", everything's out to "get you". As far as this post subject matter goes? It's just sad. Someone is in need of some new Kitchen Upgrades and Refurbishing. ;)

  6. "Flat earth", "chemtrails", and "no one ever went to the moon"?!?! Why is it that some Christians & some atheists believe that crap???

  7. These diversions are a good reminder that Armstrongism is in fact a form of gnosticism. Your salvation depends on the knowledge of prophecy, the knowledge of British Israelism, the knowledge of Church Eras, the knowledge of when time zones matter and when they don't (Sabbath-keepers ought to research how Sabbatarians have adjusted when the International Date Line has been moved around various islands in the Pacific Ocean), and so many other jots and tittles. In Armstrongism, God will use you as His mouthpiece even while you are raping your daughter, but He won't resurrect you to immortality if you spend your life doing humble service to others on Saturday rather than attending a church service.

In such an environment, which is predicated on the idea that a great conspiracy kept true Christianity hidden for 1900 years, is it any wonder that some people gravitate to other conspiracies?

  8. Years ago I got a book from the library (I can't remember the name of the book or the author but it was an oversize book) trying to "prove" that going to the moon was a big hoax. They said that it was done in the deserts of Arizona and the jumping was done as slow-motion photography, etc. Being steeped in armstrongism at the time, it left me quite confused. It didn't help that my then husband was deep into ufology vs. demons, etc. What craziness.

  9. Doesn't this clan believe in the flat earth hoax?

  10. No conspiracy can be judged as crazy until the EVIDENCE on both sides has been examined. What most people do is dismiss all "conspiracies" out of hand without examining the evidence.

  11. With modern computer graphics, it would nowadays be easy to fake a lunar landing.

  12. WCG false prophecies include a number of space achievements that were predicted not to happen. Ironic that the first man to walk on the moon was named Armstrong.
Interesting though that apart from being an expensive undertaking, no other country has yet attempted a moon landing. After Yang Li wei's Earth orbit in 2003, China proposed to get a taikonaut on the moon by 2010. A colleague and I joked about it, translating some Apollo mission phrases into Chinese, such as yi xiao bu... ("one small step"). But so far, it hasn't happened...

  13. The problem with conspiracy theories is that they are supported by additional conspiracy theories rather than fact. Ever hear a conspiracy theory that actually spawned positive attitudes and happiness? Every one I ever heard added to the misery quotient! Caused fear and paranoia. It is exactly because Armstrongism also caused fear and paranoia that church members and many ex-members embrace all that crap. They're perfectly comfortable with it. If you believe the stuff we were taught about Simon Magus starting the Catholic Church, then believing the moon landing was fake is easy.

  14. Hoss.

It's probably a huge prank by God to have have him select armstrong as the first man on the moon. Just like in the future the most dangerous storm or place on earth ever will probably go down in history under the name Petra. As the nwo or near future technological control state dystopia will be known as "the world tomorrow."

Anyhow god has a way with names.

  16. I'd like to ask Tim Kitchen, what does that have to do with the Gospel of Yeshua Christ ?
