Radio Interview On Journey Out of Armstrongism

When the Sunday [Satruday] sermon blamed the delay of Jesus’ second coming on women wearing makeup, Angela Himsel began to wonder if God didn’t have more important things to worry about. This began her on a spiritual journey that took her from the Worldwide Church of God to Orthodox Judaism. On today’s Leap of Faith, Penina talks with Angela about her spiritual journey and how sometimes there is more than one right answer. Join Penina for another inspiring episode of Leap of Faith.

  1. "With God, all things are possible." - Matthew 19:26

Why Matthew left out the "unless you wear makeup" part of Jesus's sentence, I have no idea. He MUST have added that.... right?

  2. Well, this was pretty goofy! No idea why you put this on here, but maybe it does make a point. There was a reason why God put man in charge of the family and according to Paul the church as well. I understand many want to lay this aside because God and his apostles were wrong, and desire to follow the reasoning of women. Women are persuasive and we normal males love them! Look, why wouldn't the 'independent' movements embrace Pam Dewey as their leader? Face it … she IS more knowledgeable than most, hates HWA as least as much as anyone, is intelligent and wants women to lead, (despises the American nation in so many ways), BUT is not so much a follower of OT traditions, (which should endear her to this site), not to mention she was a follower/collaborator with Ron Dart. (Not sure that gains any points here). Point being, that Pam --- agree with her or not, is much more skilled and informed that this lady on this show. (Pam might actually agree with her on some points -- me too).

Wouldn't it be great to turn this site over to Pam? Nah, I know, she is old, but 10 years ago she would have loved he opportunity. ;-) Frankly, she knows more, understands more, and is still wrong, so she would fit right in!

Attacks from whoever and for whatever are pretty silly, imo. Search the world to find someone who now hates what they grew up in! Whatever, Pam is better because she at least uses some logic at some point, and I am only a friend and certainly not a fan! :-)

    1. Pam already has a couple of awesome sites of her own! They are chock full of well-researched information. I’ve spent many hours enjoying them, and being educated.

Back in the bronze era, it was not a contrived thing for men’s brute strength to put them in one mold, and the abilities to educate and nurture children, and to maintain a household to put women in another mold. That was the state of a good, working partnership at that time. To insist that those roles are an eternal truth, the only true mold, in the advanced state of humanity today would not only be contrived, but also a waste of intelligence and skills, and therefore patently ridiculous.

I have no problem whatsoever with female authority, female intelligence, and females competing in all areas. That does not offend my sense of manhood in the least. I enjoyed having a wife (a supervisor at her workplace) with whom to discuss the days events, knowing that she had faced just as many challenges and frustrations on her shift as I on mine. We’d play off one another and sometimes help one another with useful solutions that led to career advancement.

These days, in the workplace, every man is going to meet women who have authority, and women who are better educated and more intelligent than himself. If you cop an attitude and fight it, the system is not going to advance you. Don’t believe me? Try smarting off to a female peace officer who is a veteran of the
middle eastern wars, an excellent marksman, and martial artist, and graduated at the top of her class in the police academy!

Best to get with the plan, show some respect, get advancement, and make some money. Most of these ladies recognize a difference between the guys who respect them and are loyal to them and the small remnant of guys who believe women should be kept pregnant and barefoot.

I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I want what’s real! No artificially stacking the deck against women (or minorities!) to exalt self. Everybody’s got a brain and some gifts and talent. Why would anyone want to suppress half of humanity?

My advice to the ACOG men? Grow a pair. Learn not to feel threatened by the ladies who are higher than you on the food chain.

    2. Nah friend of Pam, Pam worship is no better than Herbert W worship.
Anyway isn't Pam the one who posts funny videos of cats on social media? Not sure about her leading the COG movement.
When with Ron Dart she was known for her Wild West COG book.

  3. I've listened to about half the program. She never went solo by studying her bible or examining and evaluating other ideologies. Instead went from blindly following Herbs organisation to blindly following another organisation. Truly a sheep. I'm not impressed.

    1. It made sense to her, and she’s happy now. You can study these things into the ground and still not get any definitive answers. In fact, that’s most likely why so many threw up their hands, made a quasi-Biblical figure (apostle) out of a mere man, and let him do all of their thinking for them. At least now, Angela participates in an accountable faith sysyem with layers of overseers instead of just one autocrat.

  4. The makeup thing was a stupid dictate based on HWA's new "wife" (con artist) and was a cultish black mark. But it went away along with the stupid birthday debate.

For her to convert to Judaism without examining why the Jews rejected Christ is shallow. Have her explain how Is. 53 is not foretelling the first coming of the messiah. I've seen rabbi's attempt and they sound foolish. A YouTube I have seen is a young man reading Is. 53 in Hebrew in a town square in Israel and most Jews said they never heard these scriptures. I was very enlightening to see their ignorance.

  5. Anon 7:52 AM needs to do better research. Even those Christians who understand Isaiah 53 as a reference to Jesus should be honest enough to admit that the Jews have their own legitimate understanding, formed within their own faith, in which the Suffering Servant is seen as the personification of Israel. Look at Isaiah 43:10, just ten chapters earlier. The "Servant" (singular) is identified as "My witnesses" (plural). In Isaiah 41:8, we read God's words, "You, Israel, are My servant."

Why would Isaiah write about Israel as God's servant for ten chapters, then suddenly in Isaiah 53 change up his imagery so that the Servant is God, not Israel? Yes, Christians have made their case for that, but let's not pretend that there isn't substance behind the long-held Jewish understanding of these chapters.

  6. I love this, a german turning jewish.
    5.999.999 to go.
On the other hand I do like the strict german ladies.
Me thinks the rule based living is atractive to her.
I always try to annoy the germans by crossing the zebra crossing when no cars are visible within a mile but the light is still red. It's my little racist pleasure.

  7. Amazingly , COGS apparently still have hangups about applauding for special music, or even a dynamic sermon. Weird!

  8. Children endlessly ask their parents how the world works. It's universal. For a adult to give up this quest is the proverbial burying of ones pounds in the ground. It's a betrayal of 'becoming perfect' and being made in Gods mental image.
So what if "she's happy now" in her Borg religion.
