Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

Which Church of God Would Jesus Choose?

When Jesus Christ returns to this earth many leaders in the Church of God seem to think he will be returning to their specific church.

Gerald Flurry has the new throne Jesus Christ will return to and sit upon in Oklahoma.  Dave Pack has the most superfantabulous church headquarters ever built in the entire history of civilization, THE place where Jesus Christ is coming to walk with Dave as they plan His 3rd coming.

What is a church member to do?  How will they know which church Jesus Christ approves of? Or, rather it should be asked, does he approve of any of them?

With the death of James Malm recently, the winnowing down on which is the true church keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Never fear though, we have a new animated video up to tell us WHICH Church of God Jesus Christ is most favorably impressed with.

I hate to post this so that he gains viewer clicks, but this is so incredibly STUPID and historically bad that it is beyond belief.  Bob Thiel plays himself in the animation.  Woah nellie, just take a listen!

Remember this is a man who claims to have a real Ph.D. from a real university where he had to defend his dissertation before a board of highly qualified men and women in the subject he supposedly has his doctorate in.  I have a feeling that when he thought he heard he would have to defend his dissertation he actually heard, "go to the dessert station."

After listening to the above animation this man makes it quite clear he is NOT a speaker. This is the worst thing he has done.

It is no wonder Jesus has not returned if this is what he has to come back to!

  1. WTF did I just watch???? You are right about how bad it is. He can’t even read his own script with proper inflections. How embarrassing!

James D. Malm got winnowed out way back in 1985 when he left the Worldwide Church of God while Herbert W. Armstrong was still alive to try to think for himself.

James Malm was just a rebel trying to spread his own type of calendar confusion and his own wrong prophetic guesses.

Robert J. Thiel got winnowed out at the very start of his CCG cult in 2012 when he claimed to be a true prophet of God while looking to demons, pagan prophecies, and fake news on television to help him try (unsuccessfully) to guess the future.

Gerald R. Flurry got winnowed out at the start of his rebellion in 1989 when he taught that the Great Commission to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God had ended with the death of Herbert W. Armstrong and that his own new PCG cult had been given a “new commission” for a new church era to “warn the Laodiceans” by acting like complete jerks towards all other former Worldwide Church of God members. Gerald Flurry soon got winnowed out again when he started to teach that he himself, rather than Jesus, was what he called “That Prophet” of Deuteronomy 18:18-19 that everyone had to listen to.

Gerald Flurry also did many other things to get winnowed out, such as plagiarizing and revising The Letter to Laodicea by Jules Dervaes to produce his Malachi's Mess. book, claiming that his Malachi's Mess. book had been “delivered by a mighty angel” and that it was the “little scroll” mentioned in the book of Revelation, editing and changing Herbert W. Armstrong's writings including Mystery of the Ages, and flooding the PCG with much “new revelation” (usually about what an amazing little runt Gerald supposedly was).

David C. Pack got fired from the Worldwide Church of God in 1993 because even the apostate Tkaches knew that he was a problem. Then David Pack got fired from the GCG splinter group in 1999 because they figured him out too. Next, David Pack started his own RCG cult but got winnowed out yet again when he started to vomit uncontrollably all over his RCG cult members. As one of the most unstable people who ever lived, what he teaches can change significantly, even if he supposedly previously proved something with dozens of “proofs.” Promoting himself to Apostle, Joshua the High Priest, Elijah the Prophet, That Prophet of Deuteronomy 18:18-19, and now planning to become Messiah, shows a disturbing trend. David Pack's 260 part (so far) sermon series of complete nonsense literally speaks volumes about his insanity.

  6. This is so unrealistic! What young woman today, would just walk up to a strange man (holding a Bible), and ask if he knows much about Christianity? She's not wearing a mask, sporting several large tattoos, or maintaining social distancing.

  7. eh, any organization that claims to be the Whole Church is one you should run from, and quickly...

  8. Where did ANYBODY get the loony idea that Jesus would "choose" a church? He would do as He has done twice previously. He would start a new one, His own!.

  9. If Jesus returned and attended Bob's CCOG, Bob would claim that his double-ordination puts him in charge of the never-ordained Jesus. I don't think Jesus would want to go there.

  10. Hmm, so 'John - time will tell' plagiarized his anti millennium belief from the Catholics and Protestants. Well, he certainly has numbers on his side.

  11. There is much to unpack here. Let me take just one part of it. The cartoon ministers assertion that many churches deny the millennium is an inaccurate by way of over-simplification. All churches seem to have some form of millennium. They know the scriptures are there and they have an interpretation. What the minister means to say is that some churches do not believe in Post-tribulational, Pre-millennialism like he does.

The impression you get from the cartoon is that churches either are ignorant of the Biblical scriptures concerning the millennium or they know the scriptures are there and decided to just simply not believe in the millennium to be contrary to God. Many amillennial churches such as the Lutherans base their beliefs on the fact that the term 1,000 years seems to be a figure of speech that means "a long time" rather than being a precise duration. I do not believe Armstrongist literature addresses this issue.

This is a technical point of eschatology that is not precisely defined in scripture. It is kind of like the calendrical problems that Millerite Apocalyptics love to endlessly involve themselves in. ("But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.")

Views on the millennium can be leveraged by the Machiavellian to create division. For Millerite Apocalyptics, the millennium seems to replace weightier topics such as - grace, mercy, forgiveness and spiritual formation.

I watched the "animated" Bob Thiel video and listened to his comment about the Mickey Mouse Millennium (MMM) where Bob says beginning just beyond the 4 minute point: "...For another example, early Christians based on passages like those of the twentieth chapter of the Book of Revelation (20:4-6) taught that Jesus would REIGN ON THE EARTH WITH the resurrected Christian saints FOR a 1,000 years after He returned….The millennium is something that Christians should look forward to…”

Yes, that MMM was rejected by others? Why? Is one reason enough?

    Read Revelation 20!
:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This [is] the first resurrection.
:6 Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Can anyone find the word "earth" among any of those words?

Yes, Jesus reigns, but how does anyone use these verses to establish Jesus reigning on earth for any 1,000 year period; it appears that the animated Bob believes in "another Jesus."

No wonder others rejected the 1,000 period that the animated Bob believes in. And Bob professes to be some sort of a prophet? Well, perhaps a Mickey Mouse prophet.

    Time will tell...

  17. Dr. Bob states that true Christian's don't participate in competitive violent sports yet here he is sulking about in a public park participating in the grandest sport - seeking the minds of the young naive and attractive teens to first of all stroke his ego and then to create violence in their minds. Jeffery Epstein did the same thing, just in a different way.

Dr. Bob then goes on in his competitive sport and with sharp words creates offence against: the Greco Roman religion, the Luhtrens, the Eastern Orthodox religion, the Catholics, the Protestants, those with pretty buildings, and all of the called COGs.

For the next episode I would like to see the bible toten Bob explain to those at a Rainbow gathering why love isn't enough.

For the final episode (I know it would be the final episode) I want to see Dr. Bob enter an inner city and explain to the entrenched and ruling class youth why they should join him in God's true church.

Bob may learn very quickly why many Christian's participated in competitive violent sport for over a thousand years, although not of their choosing.

So where will the resurrected saints reign if not on Earth? Will they reign in heaven? Angels are tens of billions of years old, so one would think that things have settled down in that realm, with no new reigning necessary.

  22. Anon, June 18, 2020 at 3:34 PM, asked: "...So where will the resurrected saints reign if not on Earth? Will they reign in heaven?..."

Why did you have that question? Revelation 5:10 says otherwise:

"And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." Revelation 5:10

This verse says nothing about a 1,000 year period with these kings and priests reigning on earth. Many assume this verse applies to the same period as is mentioned in Revelation 20:4-6, but this reigning on earth as kings and priests will not occur until beyond that 1,000 year period after several other events occur. The resurrected saints will reign on earth, but much later than most assume.

Christ has been reigning for about 2,000 years now from Heaven. The resurrected saints will later be joint-heirs with Him.

FWIIW, those resurrected saints will be trained before doing any reigning on earth.

Christ did tell some of His followers that He was not preparing a place on earth for them, but was going to prepare a place elsewhere for them:

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also."

Christ will not be reigning on earth in some kingdom to fail for any Mickey Mouse Millennium, which later fails b/c Jerusalem is taken over and destroyed by Satan at the end of that MMM after that thing is loosed from the bottomless pit and people again learn war.

Anyone wanting to know the condition during that 1,000 year MMM period need only read Amos 8.
:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
:12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find [it].

Who knows, but Bibles may not even exist during that MMM. Why such difficulty with that "word of the LORD?" God's Church, those resurrected saints, won't be around until after that MMM. Who will warn the world about Satan when it gets close to the time that Satan is to exit that pit? Nobody!

And if this is true, then no wonder we read that someday it will be said that "...the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night..." 2 Peter 3:10; I Thess 5:2.

It happens to the earth's inhabitants unexpectedly, but...

    Time will tell...
