Every once in awhile a loyal LCG member will pop on here and make the accusation that no one in LCG reads this site. We know that is not true.
The day Rod Meredith said from the pulpit for members not to read this blog, the viewership shot up.
Articles on Living Church of God and Restored Church of God draw the most views.
The recent article about Weston firing and disfellowshipping Monson and Fritts is now at, 2,590 views.
LCG members know they never get the full story when news comes out of Charlotte. COG leaders have never been transparent with things that go on in their groups. It is actually pretty pathetic that LCG members have to come here to find things out their own church.
Has anyone heard anything from Munson or Fritts? Also, which congregations did each of them Pastor over?
ReplyDeleteSomeone in my family recently heard from Sheldon Monson. I don't know if I can disclose any information. So I will only say this. Sheldon Monson will connect to a YouTube livestream COG Event scheduled for tomorrow, August 15th at 2:00pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time). August 15 2020 Sabbath Services 2:00pm EDT
DeleteYou can find the live stream event at the COG Broadcast Youtube page. COG Broadcast.
There I'm sure he will discuss the current situation regarding him and LCG. But I cannot promise you that.
I always look forward to reading about RCG. Please post an article soon.
ReplyDeleteDitto!
DeleteLCG???????? Oh yes, the Living Church of God. Who's ever heard of them? Doing a"worldwide work"? Probably NOT. Membership going down, aging membership..............with a leadership out of touch and ......."Jesus wept"...........Frightening example of all that is wrong within the COG.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is a thorn in LCG's side. They know people read it. I have heard it discussed in meetings at HQ. They don't like that members report things here or even participate on the site.
ReplyDeleteI know Tulsa, OK is affected, I/ve heard that I think it's Munson is the one in Tulsa & that several members left also (my info is like 3rd or 4th hand so I sure wouldn't bet money on what little I've heard) That reminds me I need to go check if lcg took me off there members list like the asst. minister said he would.
ReplyDeleteGood luck y'all
TTFN Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo as Tigger bounces away :)

ReplyDeleteMe too, RCG is my Favorite spinoff-cultette from Herbert W. Armstrong's Great-Depression-Millerite/Adventist-'Restorationist'-Apocalyptic-Doomsday-Cult!
Both LCG & RCG prove there's still a vast amounts of money to mined from Armstrongites

In the post titled UPDATED: LCG Breaking News: LCG Members Outraged After Weston Fires Sheldon Munson and Jason Fritts Over Masks, Concerned Sister wrote at August 12, 2020 at 2:04 PM, about Walrus Smith speaking, from the LCG pulpit, about Sarah lying about being Abraham's wife. If I understand her correctly, and if she is framing the Walrus correctly, he said that it was right for Sarah to lie because she did it to obey government. The Walrus' statements should nauseate all LCG members. These ministers believe lying is fine if it furthers their cause. The leadership of the LCG has no problem with lying to the tithe slaves to keep them in service to their corrupt government.
ReplyDeleteSadly I believe LCG is cowing down to the government and will continue to do so. They are afraid of persecution it would seem. I strongly believe that, because of what I've heard from people and from my own experience. I believe LCG in the future might even recommend or cow down to covid vaccination. A Cog Minister believes something will happen regarding covid vaccination. Time will tell. The US doesn't even have a vaccination yet so we will see. I want to be that surprised of lcg did something regarding that. I've heard a lot of bad things about them. Ive also experienced some bad things after I left lcg with regards to them.

ReplyDeleteIt is called justified lying. Its what religious leader do to their followers. All cult groups do likewise.
Conundrum exercise!...
ReplyDelete"Everything I say is a lie!"
We know Tonto.
DeleteSarah lied? Here I thought it was Abram.

ReplyDeleteReagan tripled the gross federal debt from $900 billion to $ 2.7 trillion. Ford and Carter under their combined terms could only doubled it. Reagan was the Pier Piper of government debt which presently stands at $26.6 trillion.
Paleface Reagan spoke with forked tongue.
The gist of Smith's argument as I understood it when I listened to it was that Sarah was right to go along with Abram's lie to Pharaoh about their relationship because God's will in the home is for the wife to be submissive to her husband and that if she doesn't support him even if he is wrong, it won't work well because she is not submitting to how God designed His government to work in the home. In The case of Sarah it was argued that God worked it out anyway, and that it is up to God to make the husband realize it if he is wrong. He then launched into the argument for binding and loosing, and equated Weston and the LCG "Council of Elders" with the "Council of Elders" that met in the book of Acts, implying that the LCG council is the one God is working through in the twenty first century.
ReplyDeleteI have numerous issues with this approach. First of all Smith is cherry picking examples that he thinks fit his argument and ignoring others. As I mentioned in the other comment I made, Abigail did not go along with Nabal and did exactly what Smith says a wife should not do. In fact she went out without his knowledge and took provisions to David and his men, while Nabal got drunk and partied at home. She didn't inform him of what she had done until the next morning. As a result Abigail and her household were spared from being slaughtered in David's wrath, Nabal fell over dead within ten days, and Abigail then became one of David's wives. So my question is, was Abigail correct in this instance to circumvent her husband's wishes, or should she have just meekly submitted to him even when the servants came and warned her that there was going to be trouble as a result of Nabal's arrogance and foolishness?
Another issue is the idea that LCG's leadership and council are equivalent to the "council" who met in Acts, and they have a right to bind and loose decisions on how to apply God's law for the rest of the church. If the "church" consists of the entire assembly of believers, and these believers are scattered among numerous groups with different councils and different shepherds, what makes Smith think the decisions of his council carry the same gravity as the group of people who met in Acts? The Apostle Paul didn't even give the meeting in Acts as much weight as Smith gives his council. A reading of Galatians 2:1-10 demonstrates this point. I could also add that reading the rest of the chapter would demonstrate that Paul did not view Cephas or Peter as some pope figure who was above criticism or reproach with the power to bind and loose, even if he was wrong. Galatians 2:11-14 demonstrate this point.
If we cherry pick scriptures that only fit the scenario we want to promote, this is not gleaning the whole truth of God's word, and can be misleading, because we have left out part of the story. It also isn't honest, which goes to Smith's argument about Sarah. Is it okay to go along with a lie if your husband tells you to, and if so, will God always work things out in your favor, or will you suffer the consequences along with your husband? The story of Ananias and Sapphira might be instructive here. Acts 5:1-11
Concerned Sister
We all know Concerned Sister that many a female in the Church simply keeps stum when their husband does wrong.
DeleteNow don't forget to brew the tea immediately after Sabbath services or else..
@anon 7:38 Sheldon pastored the DC area. IKD about Jason. Sheldon was placed there by LCG and now likely stuck with a ridiculous house payment because he lives in one of the most expensive places in America. I feel sorry for him.

ReplyDeleteSheldon was as popular as popular gets in Armstrongism.
ReplyDeleteI Feasted with him in Hawaii and he was always surrounded by a flock of people.
His dance card stayed full 365.
The kids loved him too.
LCG wants to pretend this is no big deal and that nobody cares but that is not reality.
Wally, Wally, Wally.
ReplyDeleteI am so disappointed in you.
The Bible gives the negative examples of people, including its heroes, as warnings to us to not do the same. I am sure you used to know this.
David committing adultery with Bathsheba and then murdering her husband is a prime example of what not to do.
Smith's sermonette in which he justified lying if it is for the sake of government should make it clear that LCG members can never trust anything the LCG leadership says!
ReplyDeleteConcerned Sister and TLA - your examples from scripture show a lot more understanding of God and the Bible than Wallace Smith's sermonette.
ReplyDeleteGod never condones lying.
God often made/makes good things happen out of the mistakes of humans.
Abraham and Sarah's bigger sin was not trusting God to protect them without fabricating lies. Obviously, Wallace Smith and the LCG prefer and practice lying over trusting God!
I have not been a member of any COG for over 20 years but I met Sheldon and his family several years ago when I was visiting the DC area with relatives who are still involved. I was extremely impressed and if he was as kind toward the members of his congregation as he was toward us, I can understand that they are upset.
ReplyDeleteI hope this turns out to be a blessing for him.
God wanted Abraham and Sarah to trust him to protect them. Abraham and Sarah sinned against God by lying. Abraham and Sarah got themselves into a dangerous and embarrassing predicament. God did not condone this sin but rather demonstrated mercy by working the situation out for them. This reason this story is in the Bible is to instruct all to trust God. Contrary to Wallace Smith, the point of this story is not approving of lying when it is in support of Government. Smith is not immune to condemnation for contorting scripture and condoning sin because he is part of the presumed government of God. On the contrary - the people of LCG should require him to publicly repent of his rebellion or leave.
ReplyDeleteI know people in LCG who love the posts about RCG and PCG! All COGers cannot resist gossip and I guess stories about the other mini-sects make them feel like their own isn’t the craziest in the land. However, I know one guy who seems a bit jealous RCG and PCG have their mini-auditoriums and campuses that just sort of resemble Ambassador College. How did the craziest cults get better “HQs” than the slightly less crazy COGs built from their tithe looting?

Hopefully mine have not been censored but some posts I’ve made here never make it. I’m giving this site the benefit of the doubt tho and say it is a technical error.
"All viewpoints should be welcome here - unlike in LCG,"
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that's far from the case here. If Gary doesn't like your viewpoint he won't post it here. Not a bit different than the cog!
I wonder if he'll post this.
I rarely don’t approve posts here except for those that are they are pro-nazi, anti-holocaust, filled with profanity or ones calling me all kinds of names like you regularly do. Go whine somewhere else. LCG members are certainly a lot more friendly than you are and regularly keep in contact with me.
ReplyDeleteI think this decision to remove them was actually a good thing. They were opposed to health measures (wearing of masks and singing in their hearts) that would protect the LCG brethren.
ReplyDeletesinging in your hearts how stupid has our church > We see many with no faith !
ReplyDeletekim, is it faith or tempting God?
ReplyDeleteWhen in the wilderness Jesus told Satan not to temp the Lord your God, Satan's come back could have been "don't you have faith".
Stupid is questioning anothers faith when you are the one tempting God by not wearing a face mask or insisting on singing when it could spread covid..
