Australia Reeling from More Disasters: “In just over a year, the Clarence Valley and Kempsey have experienced drought, floods, bushfires and now another flood. Many other communities on Australia’s east coast are also dealing with their third or fourth significant natural disaster since 2019” (The Guardian, March 23, 2021). Thousands have been evacuated, bridges have been washed out, 200 schools have closed, and homes have floated away (BBC, March 22, 2021). Millions of spiders have invaded neighborhoods near Sidney in an attempt to escape the rising flood waters, and snakes are seeking refuge in trees (The Guardian, March 22, 2021). In Australia, many of those spiders and snakes are deadly poisonous!
At the same time, unusually heavy summer rains spawned a massive eruption of mice (Deutsche Welle, March 19, 2021). One farmer observed, “At night... the ground is just moving with thousands and thousands of mice just running around,” and many farmers are concerned the plague of mice will destroy this year’s crops.
The Bible clearly states that one of the consequences of disobedience to God’s commandments would be that disaster “will come upon disaster” (Ezekiel 7:26), including troublesome plagues of wild animals—especially in the Israelite-descended nations, such as Australia (Leviticus 26:21–22; Revelation 6:8). While these disasters in Australia are not the prophesied end-time plagues themselves, they demonstrate one way in which such plagues may come about. To learn more about what is happening now and what is yet to come, watch our enlightening telecast “2021 in Bible Prophecy.”—Scott Winnail, Chris Sookdeo, and Francine Prater
Yes brethren, let us scare you with doom and gloom, but be assured that these are NOT end-time incidences happening. We know it's just weather and stuff like this has been happening for centuries on a regular pattern, but we like to keep you whipped into a frenzy fearing for the end times, that way you will give us more money for the final push when we say it is time.
Be sure to watch their "enlightening" telecast for direct revelations from God on what is happening! Woooo!
“2021 in Bible Prophecy.”
ReplyDeleteI remember "2001 in Bible Prophecy" which predicted various disasters but not 9/11.
Parts of Australia, particularly northern NSW, are prone to cycles of drought and flood. And there are the annual bushfires, exacerbated by climate change.
Instead of giving biblical exhortation to keep your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2) LCG wants you to be fixated on typical weather patterns - a poor bait and switch.
ReplyDeleteIt's maddening to think that it took three salaried staff to "write" this sorry, worthless rehash of Herbies weather warnings. Is this acceptable to the LCG tithe payers?
It does not appear that this Herbie-rehash has been working for the LCG to get the public to view their tripe. As the definition of insanity, LCG repetitively uses the same fruitless pitch - perhaps it's not just insanity, but also a lack of caring on the behalf of Scott Winnail and the people of the LCG who accept that.
Although LCG remains committed to the Herbie-weather-rehash, I noticed that they have dumped Herbie's other mantra of "The Germans are coming! The Germans are coming!"
Given all the present xenophobia, perhaps LCG would attract more viewers with Herbie's German warning. Although, they'd also certainly attract some viewers who were expecting a bit of international porn.
My mother told me about this incident years ago. It happened, I think, when I was away at college. My mother and little sister went to a Shriner's parade in the large midwestern city where we lived. The Shriner's were famous for throwing candy into the crowd and kids really looked forward to this.
ReplyDeleteAs she stood with my sister near the curb waiting for the parade, my mother saw a several girls, about middle school age, approaching. They had a little boy, about five years old, with them. She overheard their conversation. The boy was the little brother of the girls. One girl made him sit down on the curb and then she told him solemnly "If you don't sit here and be quiet, God won't love you."
The girls stood a ways off and chatted animatedly. The parade came and the crowd moved forward and it left the little boy sitting on the curb surrounded by a wall of standing people. My mother went up to him and asked him if he wanted to get up from the curb so he could see the parade and maybe get some candy. He declined and sat still with his head down while the parade passed. His sisters paid no attention to him and enjoyed the parade.
You get the picture.

Friends, the exact time of the Second Coming is known only to the Father (see Matt. 24:36).
ReplyDeleteThere are, however, signs that scriptural prophecy relating to that tumultuous day is being fulfilled.
Jesus cautioned several times that prior to His Second Coming, “many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matt. 24:11).
The weather is not nearly as important as the fulfillment of Matthew in the persons of Pack, Flurry, Thiel, Weinland , Cox and many more.
Here's something else to watch. If you ask the question carefully enough, LCG ministers will be forced to admit that the letter of the law allows you to use your second tithe not just to go to the Feast of Tabernacles, but also to go to DULB services or even weekly Sabbath services.
ReplyDeleteSo, if you fill your gas tank on Friday or Sunday because of Sabbath travel, DEDUCT YOUR SABBATH TRAVEL from your second tithe! Don't let the bastards claim it as "excess" 2T when there are many legitimate ways you can spend it all during the year.
"snakes & spiders in floodwater"
ReplyDeleteNEO: were there rattlesnakes at Big Sandy, did you come across any?
Anonymous (8:49)
ReplyDeleteYup.
I always like how the COG prophet types rattle off the signs of Matthew 24, where it says, "see that you be not troubled" and then use all those to trouble you into church membership to save your ass.
ReplyDeleteMatthew 23:36 "Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon THIS generation." (That's the generation Jesus was speaking to)
ReplyDeleteMatthew 24:34 "Truly I tell you, THIS generation will not pass away until all these things have happened." (That's the generation Jesus was speaking to)
Matthew 16:28 "Truly I tell you, SOME WHO ARE STANDING HERE will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom." (That's the generation Jesus was speaking to)
I know, I know, apologists will twist these scriptures to say that Jesus was speaking to a much later generation when certain conditions would fit the "end times." But can you really imagine that the people who heard Jesus say, "...some of you who are standing here..." really believed he meant, "...none of you standing here..."?
If Australia had God's blessing, there would be no droughts, mice plagues or floods.
ReplyDeleteyup all you've got to say NEO. hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteIt's just weather
ReplyDeleteIts always been understood that 2T is available for the spring feasts or the regular weekly Sabbath as well.
ReplyDeleteLCG still promotes the Germans are coming.
ReplyDeleteGot to have a little variation each week in their 2 articles in their weekly prophecy news letter
I am a seventy plus Australian, and believe me these events have occurred again and again over the years, although I have noticed that they are more sensationalised by the media in recent times- partly to support the idea of human caused climate change, and partly as a general trend to exaggerate stories generally. I remember stories in the PT back in the 70’s about events in Australia which left us locals a bit perplexed!

ReplyDeleteMatthew 16:28 refers to a Christ's transfiguration before some of His disciples, shortly afterwards.
You're the one who needs to apologize for not knowing your bible.
April 10 at 1:05 PM: "If Australia had God's blessing, there would be no droughts, mice plagues or floods."
ReplyDeleteThen Antarctica must be the favored continent. It enjoys the blessing of having none of those ills. Also no wildfires, tornadoes, or sandstorms. Must be nice.

Big Sandy area infamous for rattlesnakes.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at view of now rusted, abandoned Big Sandy tabernacle bldg.
NEO: Was it hot in that un-airconditioned building during Septemberfest?

4:40, I'm well aware of the transfiguration hypothesis, another strained explanation to make a circle fit a square hole. However, look at the context, the previous verse explains what Jesus meant by "... the son of Man coming in his kingdom." Matt 16:27 "For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done." And then the kingdom arrives... Apology accepted 4:40.
ReplyDeleteHaving a brand and name change NEO ? Still doesn't fool anyone. Not really. Not at all.
ReplyDeleteClimate change has no takers here. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteGrittyMan
ReplyDeleteBible commentaries give a spread of explanations regarding Matthew 26:28, so I'm sticking with the most obvious, which is the transfiguration. I don't believe that Matthew 26:27 inherently discounts the transfiguration. Also keep in mind that Christ said that the kingdom of God is "within you." A proper translation is "among your midst," meaning He was the kingdom of God. This fits in with Christ's transfiguration qualifying for "the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."
Apocalyptics drawing on the Bible will always recruit disasters to underscore their view of reality. And there have been plenty of disasters to recruit. It is an unending process. Their framework of reference, their reality, centers on the End of the Age. This is what imparts meaning to their lives. They can scan the scripture, overlook the Gospel, and focus on supposed predictions of a disastrous near future. And The Great Tribulation becomes the living, throbbing heart of latter-day apocalyptic Millerism.
ReplyDeleteI have a hypothesis about this. Admittedly, my research materials are thin. I believe that the Millerites of ca. 1844 were not so focused on disasters but focused on their entrance into paradise. They all sat peacefully in the countryside, wearing their special white garments, waiting for Christ to appear. Where was The Great Tribulation for them? It was Victor Houteff and Herbert Armstrong who introduced the "countdown" to the End of the Age with all of the tribulational disasters as precursor. This model leveraged the use of fear and played to growing feelings of vulnerability and insecurity. This gave the apocalytic Millerite movement a new energy that seems to exist as an inexhaustible reservoir. The good news of The Great Tribulation. William Miller built the car but Houteff and Armstrong started the engine and found the accelerator.

Herbie was the original Climate Alarmist!
ReplyDeletePerhaps the leftist would like to adopt him as their patron saint?
Herbie and others using terror religion to recruit and get away with abusing his members does not invalidate the bible writings regarding the tribulation.
