The International Dateline and the Sabbath: Straining at a gant and swallowing the camel...

It is amazing to watch the lengths some COG "leaders" go to defend their beliefs and "prove" that the Sabbath is required. Never fully studying about the Sabbath requirement for New Covenant followers, they rely fully upon COG publications written by a myriad of so-called educated leaders. Even then, certain men have decided that COG "proofs" have not gone far enough to suit their hyper-legalistic minds so they come up with even more bizarre scenarios and teachings.

Case in point, the International Dateline, and Sabbath-keeping.

The problem the COG has as a whole is that they have to deal with that pesky International Dateline which causes some people to keep sabbath on one day while in other parts of the world have yet to keep it or may have already done so. This causes a conundrum to a lot of diehard Sabbath-keepers who think the entire world must stop at the same time.

Never fear though, COG members and some "leaders" have an answer for everything. OzWitness, an Australian COG site has determined that the International Dateline is WRONG and is causing "true" Christians to keep Sabbath on the wrong day. So, they have come up with a new "dateline" to ensure that the entire world keeps sabbath at the same time.

OzWitness states:

The International dateline is not something that most of us have considered. Most of us have just taken for granted that we keep the Sabbath on the seventh day, as scripture requires. Those who travel across it though and those who live East of Jerusalem but West of the present dateline, may have wondered if the Bible has anything to say on this subject, so let’s examine the biblical evidence, and then come to our own conclusion.

"Coming to our own conclusion" is the reason the COG is in such a horrendous mess. With hundreds and hundreds of bloviating men making all kinds of idiotic proclamations, no one, and mean NO ONE, has any idea what the COG even stands for anymore.

Yellow highlights are mine, colored word highlights are the original author's:

We know that God has provided the instruction and examples in the Bible for the month and the year and He would not fail to provide the needed information on the dateline, because the fact is that, though many people have not thought about this, there has to be one somewhere – a definite line on the earth where God’s day begins. Any conclusions drawn without including that vital dateline must be invalid!

No well-researched religious scholar, no Jewish rabbi or theologian, no mathematician, no scientist, and not even Arab geographer Abulfeda and explorer Magellan were/are as correct as a lay COG member.

This is simply because the earth rotates. If we travel East, against the rotation, the day is shorter as the sun seems to come towards us, and sunset is earlier. If we travel West, with the sun, the days are longer than 24 hours. Of course, without knowing where the true dateline is, those of us who live East of Jerusalem, but West of the present International Date Line, do not securely know when to keep the annual Holy Days which Jesus Christ kept.

But a COG member sure does!

Also, we are concerned to make sure we keep the seventh day Holy. Genesis 2:3, ‘And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.’ We need to keep a tight check on the days, and we know that at the time of Jesus the Jews were keeping the correct day. Jesus vouched for that by His agreement of both the Sabbath and Holy Days back then. Since then, the Romans drove many Jews from the ‘Holy Land’ in a great diaspora, but, no matter where they went, East or West, they carried the same day with them, and no matter where they ended up, today most are in agreement about which day is the 7th, from Hong Kong, to Cape town, to San Francisco.

They did this without any reference to an international dateline, because travel back then was slow. They had no watches and they would not have noticed that the day was either a little longer or shorter, depending on whether they were moving West or East. Actually, the dateline had not been invented then anyway, it only came about after men began to circumnavigate the earth in ships, and depending on which way they went, they either seemed to ‘lose’ or ‘gain’ a day against the calendar they started out from. When the Sabbath was restored at Sinai, the Israelites began to keep it, though they were not in Israel, and later Daniel kept the Sabbath in Babylon, as did Ezekiel and Ezra, though they started it long before it commenced in Jerusalem. Paul travelled far to the West and kept the same Sabbath, but much later than those at Jerusalem. Obviously then, there is no rule that we should keep the identical time with Jerusalem.

So, the fact is that, no matter which way the Jews travelled from Jerusalem, even eventually as far as America, West, or China East, they retained the knowledge of the true Sabbath, even though much later, disagreements arose amongst their scholars, which have not changed the majority of Jewish practice, and to this day the vast majority of Jews worldwide keep the Sabbath on the same date.

So if the knowledge of the "true" Sabbath and the fact that Jews all observe Sabbath, then what is ht issue?

Well, this is the Church of God and after all, it is ALL KNOWING on EVERYTHING imaginable.

So, why is it that among some Christian 7th Day Sabbath keepers, there is some confusion about which day is the seventh? Well, these days we travel by air and it is not uncommon to cross half the world in 24 hours. It then becomes very noticeable that you have ‘lost’ or ‘gained time’, and the world has had to agree on the dateline, the longitude East or West of the prime meridian which was placed at Greenwich, England, where a new calendar day begins.

Because England was the dominant seafaring nation when this occurred, all longitudinal lines are based on Greenwich, as 0 degrees, and, as a result, the dateline was set at 180 degrees East, on a great longitudinal circle that encompasses the globe (there are 360 degrees in whole) exactly on the opposite side of the earth from Greenwich. That was where each new day would start, at twelve midnight, and the day would progress West around the earth.

This proved very convenient, because 180 degrees East, is over the Pacific Ocean, the largest and emptiest body of water on the planet. Although they bent the line a little to avoid one or two islands, it avoids all land, which is the third vital requirement to avoid confusion. Imagine if the dateline went over land. It could happen that people on one side of a street were keeping Friday, and those on the other, Saturday, an impossible situation, so the choice seemed logical enough.

This positioning of the start of the day in the Pacific Ocean, upsets some Christians though, because of the scriptural belief that Jerusalem is the centre of the world, Ezekiel 5:5, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.’ And 38:12, ‘To take plunder, and to carry off spoil; to turn your hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, who have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.’ And that the law must go forth from Zion, Isaiah 2:3, ‘And many people shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.’

This is quite true, for all our attention is centred on Jerusalem, and observations from there with regard to calendar issues, and the Biblical dateline must include this principle, but then, too early conclusions, such as, ‘those to the East cannot start the Sabbath until it has started in Jerusalem’, have been drawn, because certain scriptures are not recognised or considered.

Men have often felt the need to introduce their own ideas and traditions, without biblical confirmation; witness the disagreements of the obscure Jewish sages about the dateline. Jesus condemned that approach, and told us to look at scripture. Without those scriptures, some have suggested that Jerusalem should be the dateline. This is totally impossible because that would mean half the city keeping one day, and half the next. Others have suggested a boundary of Israel at Euphrates. That suggestion is equally impractical, as a look at the map will prove, for such a line would also cut through Africa and Asia, once again providing similar problems in many more areas of the world, and there are no dateline scriptures to back this suggestion.

When the prime meridian is redrawn from Greenwich, and based upon Jerusalem, and then projected around the globe, it forms one great circle, and once past the poles becomes 180 degrees East or West of Jerusalem right over the waters of the Pacific, when Jerusalem is 0 degrees. This, I believe, is what God is describing in Job 26:10, as a statute, which actually determines the biblical International Date Line. Thus, that statute (a law which will be active in the millennium) directly links Jerusalem to the circle which now marks out the division between light and darkness, the beginning of God’s days, fulfilling the requirement in Isaiah 2:3, that the law will go forth from Zion, or Jerusalem. ‘And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.’

In fact, as we have seen, we are told that God created the dateline first, in Genesis 1:4, and then later positioned Jerusalem on that line (when it is extended around the globe). How wonderful and awesome are His far sighted powers!

So what is the solution?

He ensured this by placing Jerusalem directly opposite what seems to be the biblical international dateline, on a great circle which goes right around the globe, actually appearing as the longitude 144.8 degrees West today, ( Jerusalem is now 35.2 degrees East of the prime meridian at Greenwich, so +180 degrees = 144.8 degrees West).

The New COG dateline, conveniently skirting Alaska.

This line then lies 35.2167 degrees East of the present international dateline (which has been bent to avoid islands) right through the largely empty Pacific Ocean, but crosses Alaska unless, as a boundary, it is bent to skirt its shores.

In this way, even New Zealand and Australia share most of the Sabbath with Jerusalem, as does Europe and even the Americas, and the problem of the position of the true international dateline, which cannot be over land, could be solved (Genesis 1:4) while fulfilling the statute of Job 26:10.

You can read the rest of this here: The Biblical International Date Line

There are hundreds of other sites by non-COG people who call the International Dateline, pagan, satanic, etc., so this is not really something new. Conspiracy theories keep religion alive, especially for Sabbath-Keepers/Messianic Jews/Yahwehists and others.

For all of these groups, the emphasis is upon days and never upon that inconvenient dude that beckons for them to follow him. Following the letter of the law is more important than walking in freedom.

  1. The international date line is a much easier problem to resolve than the question of how/when to keep the Sabbath when north of the Arctic Circle.

I suggest that we dump Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in exchange for Jerusalem Mean Time (JMT) in situations where we're not on earth.

Ac 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Ac 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Ac 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

    Note:

Lk 4:16 on the day [hemera] of the sabbaths [sabbatwn] into the synagogue
Ac 13:14 on the day [hemera] of the sabbaths [sabbatwn] and sat down

(In transliterating I use "w" for omega as it is close to the lower case script, instead of the transliterated long "o" due to the incompatibility with some word processors).

Mt 28:1 After then [the] sabbaths [sabbatwn] it being dawn towards[ the] first [day] of the sabbaths [sabbatwn].

Lk 23:56b and rested the sabbath [sabbaton, singular] according to the commandment.

In Luke 4:16 and Acts 13:14 the plural “sabbatwn” is used for the singular “sabbaton”. The plural “sabbatwn” is also used for “week” in Matt 28:1.

  13. Paul didn't keep the Sabbath? Nonsense. What does Colossians 2:16 actually say? Does it say Christians shouldn't keep the Sabbath? No. Does it say it is not important? No. Does it say it is wrong to keep the Sabbath? No. It says that when you do keep it, don't let anybody judge you for doing so. Clearly, this gentile church was keeping the Sabbath and Holy Days. Paul would never have brought the subject up if they weren't keeping those days. Yes, it is a shadow of things to come. Who casts the shadow? Jesus. The body is Jesus Christ. He casts the shadow that is the Sabbath and Holy Days. Keeping the Sabbath and Holy Days reminds us of the future coming of Jesus Christ. And don't let anybody judge you for doing so.

  17. As Colossians came up earlier this year, I have re-posted part of my response to provide a little context to the heresy:

Col 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

“The apostle ... offers two reasons why this “philosophy” is “hollow and deceptive.” First of all, Paul propounds, it is predicated on “human tradition.” In Paul’s perception, the “philosophy” was manufactured by humans, not given by God (cf. 2:6)...

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

“Until this point in the epistle, Paul has spoken of the “philosophy” in rather general and polemical terms (1:23; 2:4, 8). Here, however, the reader is belatedly given concrete clues concerning the commitments of the movement against which Paul is reacting...

“Certain unnamed people were apparently advocating dutiful observance of certain days, including religious festivals, New moons, and Sabbaths... Presumably the “philosophy” was prescribing certain religious activities in conjunction with these special days, perhaps with a promise that these observances would enhance congregants’ purity and spirituality. It is now impossible to know precisely who were seeking to pass judgment on the Colossians ... and exactly what motivated them to act as self-appointed arbitrators [Jewish regulations and/or theosophical asceticism?]. The paucity of textual particulars results in interpretative uncertainties. While such ambiguity does not sate our curiosities, “biblical studies are not helped by being certain about the uncertain” (Brown, 596)” (Todd D. Still, Colossians, EBC, Revised, Vol.12, p.311, 316-17).

  21. Living near the International Dateline...

My first local pastor (who was exNavy) had solutions for things like living in the Artic/Antarctic areas, which was to determine a 'day' from the local timezone.
There was something about a small island near the dateline where the people were apparently given a 'choice' to make the day the 'leading edge' (GMT+12) or the 'bleeding edge' (GMT-12); eg., the day could be, say, Saturday orSunday, your choice. Thinking about this now, that's just confusion; the point was that SDAs on the island apparently chose 'Saturday' to be what the majority would call 'Sunday'. This was of course not acceptable for the WCG...

  24. In mathematics there are some geometric objects that do not have a beginning or an end. One example of this is a Moebius strip. Another example is a sphere. Identifying a cyclical change related to a position on the surface of such objects is entirely subjective. One place is just as good as another from the point of view of mathematical properties. There is no natural or a priori dateline.

At the time that the law concerning the Sabbath was given, the Jewish reference point for everything was their homeland. Nobody knew Samoa existed. Ancient Semitic cosmology posited a flat earth. So there are no detailed data in the Bible about what you should do about Samoa.

I once told a faculty member at AC/BS that north is depicted at the top of maps by subjective convention - that there is no "top" and "bottom" to the earth. Her reaction was that she got a pained facial expression and said "Don't tell me that." She was an intelligent person; she just did not want to think in relative terms or acknowledge that some things are just subjective conventions.

Let me put a plug in for the Midrashic approach for issues like this. Note the following statement cited from this post:

"Jesus condemned that approach, and told us to look at scripture. Without those scriptures, some have suggested that Jerusalem should be the dateline. This is totally impossible because that would mean half the city keeping one day, and half the next."

This is an illogical attempt to cloak over subjective decision making. First the writer states that Jesus condemns attempts to resolve such matters extra-Biblically. (The writer cites no exegesis to underpin this statement.) Then admits there are no scriptures. Then makes an entirely subjective deduction about how the dateline cannot be in Jerusalem. It is like that earth-shaking question, "Does fish food containing yeast have to be thrown out during DULB?" Someone in the WCG made a subjective decision that it does not have to be thrown out. You can bet they did not find something about this in the Bible. Do you think that these sages of Pasadena felt condemned by Jesus for that fish food decision? My guess is that they were proud of their zeal.

Christ stated: "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Does this nullify the Jerusalem Council of Acts 15? Or any Midrashic statements about the dateline? Given this statement from Christ, how does Armstrongism justify its extensive denominational "talmud?" Such as staying in hotels for the FOT instead of the Biblically mandated brush booths?

And, of course, the dateline is a non-issue in the Christian community but that is the rest of the story.

It seems that way, as the theme of this piece includes "Never fully studying about the Sabbath requirement for New Covenant followers".

The "Old" Covenants are detailed in the Torah, but I'm yet to get a half-decent answer to where the skinny of the "New" Covenant for "Christians" is spelled out in detail. Jerimiah 31? In Hebrews? In Galatians, where it's written (chapter 3) that you don't just set aside one covenant with another?

Well, whatever arguments appear in Banned, they are still way, way better than some of the flimsy excuses Protestant ministers give for Sunday worship.

How convoluted are the rationalizations of Sabbatarians when confronted with clear Pauline texts!

HWA had a rule of hermeneutics - actually quite a good one - "Let the Bible interpret the Bible" (pity he didn't follow it.)
So when we encounter a 'difficult' passage like Colossians 2:16, we let Paul interpret it: he says the same thing in Galatians 4:10, 2 Corinthians 3, Romans 14 ...

Exactly right. Every time the Bible refers to the church, Meredith said that means "the church leaders", and of course, Meredith was the leader of the leaders, resulting in dictatorial power for Meredith. Examples are Matt 18:17 "tell it to Rod Meredith. But if he refuses even to hear Rod Meredith, let him be marked and disfellowshipped." Acts 6, Rod was quick to point out that the deacons were "ordained" (v6), but he never mentioned that they were chosen by the multitude (verse 5). And, as mentioned, 2 Col 16-17 "Let no one judge you on these matters but Rod Meredith."

I have not seen Weston make any change in these wrong teachings.

  28. Galatians 4:10 "You observe days and months and seasons and years."

Yes, Paul is criticizing the observance of days and months and seasons and years, but he is criticizing those in the church who have returned to their "weak and beggarly" practices (v9), which led to bondage, which they used to do before they knew God (v8). He is not speaking to the converted Jews and their practices. Paul would not have said that the Jews did not know God. Paul would not have said that the Jewish days and months were "weak and beggarly". No, Paul is talking to the Gentiles in Galatia, who were reverting to their pagan observances.

  29. These arguments over the International Date Line show once again how terribly deficient the Armstrongite movement has been in providing answers that actually withstand scrutiny. Did anyone who got deceptively recruited into Armstrongism think that this just might be a problem?

Armstrongism is built on a foundation of denying that the vast majority of Christians are Christians at all using whatever excuse is convenient depending on the topic under discussion. So when one learns to ignore any other potential source of authority it is not such a leap for them to deny governmental consensus regarding how to measure time along the International Dateline.

I would recommend if Armstrongites happen to be near the International Dateline they should follow the laws of whichever place they happen to be in and observe their ritual days along that stance. I advise such people to follow the laws of the government.

This comment is intended to discuss this topic in regards to those influenced by the false prophet, Herbert Armstrong. In regards to others I view that as a separate topic.

  34. True and false religion

Isa 1:14 YOUR new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

“The tendency of the Hebrew people is easily understood. Throughout the history of religion the trend has always been to maximise the physical while minimizing the spiritual” (John N. Oswalt, The Book of Isaiah Chapters 1-39, NICOT, p.96).

Mt 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

“Become a burden (14): i.e., the rituals are not themselves a burden, for the Lord commanded them to start with. It is not the use but the abusive of divine ordinances that vexes him...” (J. Alec Motyer, Isaiah, TOTC, p.13).

Gal 4:10 YE OBSERVE [para-tereo] days, and months, and times, and years.

“Ye observe: The whole meaning of the verse depends on the sense attached to this word. It is compounded of a verb which means to observe and a preposition which [by usage] implies that either the purpose or the method of observation is bad.

Jn 14:21a He that hath my commandments, and keepeth [teron, verb] them, he it is that loveth me:
1Co 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping [teresis, noun] of the commandments of God.

“The simple verb and corresponding noun are commonly used in N. T. in a good sense, e.g. “He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me”. John 14:21, ‘Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; but the keeping of the commandments of God.” 1Cor 7:19.

Lk 14:1 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched [para-tereo] him.

“But the compound is never so used. Mar 3:2; Luk 6:7; Luk 14:1; Luk 20:20; Act 9:24. Comp. for the noun, Luk 17:20.

“St Paul is not condemning the observance of ‘days and months and times and years’ but their mis-observance. Jewish Christians might continue to keep them as hallowed customs of divine origin, but not as grounds of justification. These were not to be sharers with Christ in the great work of salvation. Bondage to these rudiments forfeited the liberty of the Gospel. Gentile believers were never bound to such observances, and if they yielded to the Judaizing teachers and submitted to the yoke of the Jewish ceremonial, they were no longer partakers of the liberty of Christ...” (E. H. Perowne, Cambridge).

Gal 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

“Those who wish to be “under the law” (live according to the Mosaic law in such a way that Christ is eclipsed) need to read the law in light of what God has done in Christ” (Scot McKnight, Galatians, NIVAC, p.230).

Gal 4:8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
Gal 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

“What is revolutionary here is that Paul considers “moving into Judaism” as nothing other than a reversion to “paganism” to “non-gods” (cf. Gal 1:6). He asks, “Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?” Their move from idolatry to Christianity and now to Judaism is for Paul no different than a venture back into “idolatry” or “paganism.”

  35. “R.N. Longenecker says it well:

“Beyond question, Paul’s lumping of Judaism and paganism together in this manner is radical in the extreme. No Judaizer would ever have accepted such a characterization of Torah observance; nor would those in Galatia who acceded to their message... For Paul, however, whatever leads one away from sole reliance on Christ, whether based on good intentions or depraved desires, is sub-Christian and therefore to be condemned (Galatians, WBC, p.182)” (Scot McKnight, Galatians, NIVAC, pp.247-48 (Scot McKnight, Galatians, NIVAC, p.230).) p.217).

Gal 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

“To begin with, Paul uses the middle voice here, expressing the notion of “submitting oneself to the rite in a personal way.” But simply being circumcised is not the issue. Rather it is the reason for circumcision that provokes Paul. If the Galatians go ahead with circumcision because of the influence of the Judaizers, they will be confessing, in the act of submitting to the rite (hence the middle voice), that they think Christ is insufficient, that the Spirit is not a good guide for living, that Moses needs to be obeyed for acceptance with God, and that one needs to become a Jew to become a child of God. This is what Paul reacts to in our letter - not circumcision per se but to circumcision when done was a confession of faith in the Mosaic law and the superiority of the Jewish nation (cf. Rom 2:25).

“So Paul spells out the ramification: “Christ will be of no value”... (Scot McKnight, Galatians, NIVAC, pp.247-48 (Scot McKnight, Galatians, NIVAC, p.230).

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

“... it may reasonably inferred that justification is not attained through law, but by grace through Christ. But as grace on God’s part points to faith as the appropriate response on the part of mankind ... we may interpret “by grace through Christ” to mean: “by faith, through incorporation into Christ and on the basis of his atoning work. Once again, therefore, justification by faith is by implication clearly contrasted with justification through the law...” (Ronald Y.K. Fung, the Epistle to the Galatians, NICNT. p.223).

Ro 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

    What about Colossians 2:16?

  37. for Zippo:

"It seems that way, as the theme of this piece includes "Never fully studying about the Sabbath requirement for New Covenant followers" "

the "new covenant" simply means greater reward (eternal life) for obedience, obedience at the spiritual level, not just physically ceasing from work, but spiritually connecting with our Father on His day of rest, which He created for us...we don't sit around planning what we will do when the Sabbath is over...the new covenant in no way changes the day of observance, or abolishes the Sabbath commandment.

much like the commandment against murder was raised to a higher, spiritual level...not just refraining from physically killing someone, but refraining from hatred.

I was hoping to hear yet another "explanation" of Colossians 2:16
Seems every year another ACOG has a new "explanation" of Col 2:16

Yes, but that was 21 hrs ago, I was expecting a new less convoluted ACOG "explanation" by now:

"At the time that the law concerning the Sabbath was given, the Jewish reference point for everything was their homeland"

What about an even slightly earlier time before the Jews had a Sabbath; before they borrowed it from the Babylonians?
...when it was fixed to the new moons? (making today's sabbaths 'wrong' for another reason, compounding the HWA/SDA Dateline error)

  42. The comments and replies to comments on this blog are clear and definitive evidence we are in spiritual Babylon! So many opinions. So many interpretations. They can’t all be right. “And every man did whatever was right in his own eyes.”

You don't have to be a mere outside observer; jump in and join the babel!

..because if the Sabbath originated in Babylon, "babel" is right word!

  44. Yeah, the original sabbaths, as practiced by the Babylonians, then Jews, were re-sync'd to the New Moon every month, creating a bigger crisis than the Dateline-Fiasco for ACOGs/SDAs...(Colossians 2:16)
