PCG: "Yoke yourself to church literature, yoke yourself to the sermons coming from GF and God’s ministers

More craziness from Brad Macdonald of the Philadelphia Church of God cult. He wants all of PCG members to "yoke" themselves to Gerald Flurry, church literature, the ministers, and of course the law.

It is interesting that whenever a yoke is invoked in the New Covenant or with Jesus it is always considered a burden. A heavy weight from keeping the law that brings no redemption or salvation that constantly makes the lives of people miserable.  Yet, Jesus says his yoke is easy and the burden is light. There is peace in being yoked to Jesus. but not to Gerald Flurry or any of he crap literature he writes and particularly with the PCG ministry.

From Exit and Support Network:

Told how HWA was was “yoked to God’s law” [Note from ESN: God’s Law translates to the Law given by Moses. See Nehemiah 10:29] and he was absolutely vigilant about it. If we begin to compromise, we will let Satan get a foot in the door. There was no place for compromise in HWA’s life.[Note from ESN: To see whether or not HWA ever compromised, see our section on Herbert W. Armstrong

Macdonald doubles down on smartphones again because this gives people access to information that lifts the burden of PCG from their shoulders. Macdonald comments about church members not speculating on the return of Christ is hypocritical since Gerald Flurry does it every time he opens his mouth. I get it though, church members are not to speculate, but Flurry can.

He also doubles down on PCG members treating their own family members like dirt because they no longer are part of the PCG cult.

This is the approach that we need to take with Laodicean families, with smartphones; speculations about Jesus Christ’s return.” [Note from ESN: Who is it that has been speculating about Christ’s return? Hasn’t it been PCG ministers, especially GF?]

He said some individuals in PCG have done a lot of research and he told them to “stop doing it.” GF in his Bible Study said God wants His people to be thinking and asking questions, but we can’t yoke ourselves to them, “because one day you will be called out on it and if you are yoked too closely to it, it will be very, very difficult to change.”

He wanted everyone to be alike and said, “We want to be yoke fellows, all of the same mind, all of the same view. [Note from ESN: There is to be no individualism allowed in cults.]

He equated eternal life to PCG doctrines. “Either we hang on to what we’ve learned, or we lose our eternal life.” [Note from ESN: We cannot lose our eternal life once we have it. Read: “Can we ever lose our salvation?” (Q&A)]

“Yoke yourself to church literature, yoke yourself to the sermons coming from GF and God’s ministers.”

Talk about yoking ones self to a life of misery!

  2. "We cannot lose our eternal life once we have it?"

Well, Satan and his demons will end up in the lake of fire.

There's no doubt in my mind that many members are laying low, thinking that once in the kingdom, they can safety shed the Mr nice guy persona.

    1. Angels originally were never in the same position as humans as far as salvation is concerned.

  3. Ought they not to be telling their members that they should be yoking themselves to Christ?

It seems that in many ways we of this generation are copying the ways of NAZI Germany.

Get in step there. Think the same, talk the same, and do the same. If Yahweh wanted zombies He would have created clones.

  4. This is one of the major drawbacks of being a member of any corporate church, be it a ACOG or mainstream. They all give their members a certain mental diet, a certain map of reality that is always part truth and part self serving for that organization. This means that members pay through the nose for their membership benefits. Trying to "cheat" by acquiring one's own map of reality is very difficult in these groups because of the constant brainwashing which is designed to crash members mental barriers.
As long as one is a member in these groups, one's growth will always be stunted in areas deemed threatening to the group.

There's always some who need to attend a group in order to be able to stay spiritually afloat, but if a member is strong enough, they should consider being a stay at home "independent Christian."

  5. Basically, they are exhorting members to be cultic, to allow the cult to do members' thinking for them. Apparently, such a method of focus is the key to avoiding Laodiceanism. Don't confuse yourselves with the facts, we'll tell you what the facts are. Anything that could potentially make you disbelieve what the cult leaders tell you should be avoided including your former "loved ones".

Alright, PCG members! See how this works for you! Or not.......

  6. DIFFERENT APPROACHES

In January 1995, the APOSTATE Joseph W. Tkach, Sr. OPENLY threw out of the Worldwide Church of God virtually everything that his predecessor Herbert W. Armstrong had taught up to the time of HWA's death in January 1986.

That FALSE PROPHET Gerald R. Flurry in his own little PCG cult that he started in December 1989 DECEITFULLY edited, changed, warped, mangled, and perverted Herbert W. Armstrong's teachings while falsely claiming to be faithfully holding fast to all of them.

Some people who rejected the massive doctrinal changes of the WCG APOSTATE Joseph W. Tkach, Sr. went on to join the little PCG cult and ended up trapped and enslaved by that FALSE PROPHET Gerald R. Flurry and his gospel suppressing, family wrecking, sexually immoral, Irish dancing cult.

  7. The phrase that more accurately describes the state of affairs in the world today is "god's ministers" when the first word in the phrase is not capitalized.

  8. Yoked yokels...

"HWA was yoked to God's Law" - if that is referring to HWA's adherence to the Laws God gave to Israel through Moses, it's way off. HWA, as we all know, chose Laws that made sense to him, or could be used for control.

In Bob Thiel's analysis of which laws to keep and which to abolish, he dismissed a number of the hygiene and quarantine regulations, some of which would be worth following, particularly during the pandemic...

  9. So tired of the Macdonalds. Brad is just trying to move up the chain of command and help his family do the same. His dad is the regional director in canada and from what I heard is like a tyrant who has caused many long time members to leave the PCG because they can’t handle the abuse. I guess the whole family is like that.

  10. Yes. The problem with Australians in general is not so much that they descendended from convicts, the actual problem is that they descended from the wardens!
