It is the start of a new year and the various Churches of God have a chance to start doing something right for once. How many will step up to the plate and be beacons of light in their communities?
WCG offshoots and their lack of good deeds
I have been in the COG circles for many decades and one of the most disheartening aspects of the COG is the lack of good deeds. One would have thought after the collapse of WCG and all the evidence that HWA and the WCG leadership were corrupt that the WCG offshoots would have repented of their selfishness. Unfortunately, with a few notable exceptions that has not been the case.
The WCG offshoots for the most part not only do not love their fellow man or each other the way they should, but in some cases justify their lack of good deeds by claiming that Christians are not here to make the world a better place. The late Roderick Meredith explicitly taught this theological garbage, and the moribund LCG sadly continues walking in this delusional path.
The Bible is very clear that followers of Jesus Christ are to do good deeds, and to love others to the point that their good deeds shine noticeably for all to see!
Matthew 5:14
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
1 Peter 2:12
“Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”
I urge members of the COG to truly honor God by directly helping those in need and to stop emulating the delusional leadership of the COG. It is time to light up the room with our good deeds!

They're going to have to work hard and qualify for the opportunity to be lights, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteAs a COG’er, this one has pained me deeply for a long time. We have been woefully short.
ReplyDeleteWhat 'good deeds' do you accomplish with this blog? Fake names in abundance. You drive this blog in the darkness whilst patronising others from on high.
ReplyDeleteIt's the height of hypocrisy for an anti-God blog run by THOSE FROM WITHIN COG GROUP, who hide in darkness, to point hypocritical fingers saying COG groups don't do good deeds.
This blog is darkness personified. Double life living never ends well.
What does Jesus Christ think of this blog ? I reject and expose your hypocrisy and staggering arrogance.
You who destroy Churches from within by apathy and politics then turn and spew out criticism when the members are prevented from doing anything under such rule.
Hypocrite.
To the minister posting anonymously at 11;15 PM, your complaint about "fake names" is absurd on its face, as you haven't shared your own name. Furthermore, you should know that one reason for the fake names and anonymity is that we have come to you and your peers many times with our concerns, yet have been abused when we share with you our honest Christian concerns and then found ourselves (to use your words), "prevented from doing anything under such rule."
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. 11:15, if you are like too many of your ministerial peers, you are a little man who imagines himself to be a big man. You chafe under the authority of Mr. Flurry, Mr. Franks, Mr. Shabi or Mr. Weston, thinking yourself their peer or their better, yet you rule harshly over your congregations. Until you do us the good deed of signing your post(s) with your name, your comments reveal YOU to be the hypocrite you accuse others of being.
From the old children's song---"Let there be Peace on Earth, and let it begin with me".
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to get any kind of collective to act in unison. Be the best YOU for God and man, try to be helpful when the opportunity arises for all people, whether in your church or out of it.
Evaluate yourself and always ask--"Am I a part of the problem?"
Deceit in all forms is always part of the problem Tonto.
DeleteTo Anon @11:15. I pity you. I truly do. And I must "reject and expose" your arrogance and IGNORANCE of this blog. It is NOT ANTI GOD!! It is anti COG, and that is an enormous difference. The majority of bloggers and commenters here are believers. Not all, but most. At least this blog allows ALL viewpoints, which is far more than can be said for any of the COGs!
ReplyDeleteSo, please Mr/Mrs Anonymous, do your homework before you make a fool of yourself and accidentally reveal your lack of knowledge. You are a pitiable, pathetic, yet typical example of a COG minister/wannabe. Shame on you. I pray you find Jesus, because it would appear you have never met Him!
No shame on you. I notice you do not deny being from within COG.
ReplyDeleteThis blog has been widely called anti-God by many for many years.
No need to pray for me to find Jesus I've known Jesus since a child. Pray for yourself as running this blog for so many years you clearly must be hurting over alot.
When did Jesus give you his judgment seat to arrogantly decide who knows Jesus?
DW is not the administrator of this blog. Are you not bright enough to notice that? And yes, people who do not take the Ninth Commandment very seriously do love to exaggerate from "anti-COG" to "anti-God". It is a favorite trick of people who like to invent things to cry about.
DeleteWho's crying ?
Delete...."an anti-God blog run by THOSE FROM WITHIN COG GROUP"....
ReplyDelete__________________________
Uh, what "COG group" is that??
Axially, I believe 11:15 thinks his computer screen is a pair of binoculars or glasses which enable him, her, or it to see all of us as we live our lives, and to know what we think, and what motivates our posts. Wishful thinking on their part!
ReplyDeleteProjecting again 3:41.
DeleteThe problem with the WCG splinter groups is not just their lack of good deeds. The problem is the abundance of all their evil deeds. Too many of the leaders of the splinter groups are actually evil people. Too many evil little people go to the splinter groups to do evil to other people. Never mind doing any good deeds. If they could merely refrain from doing so much evil continually, that would already by a vast improvement.
ReplyDeletePal do not see the glory of Herbert Armstrong and the truth is the good works is called the give way.
DeleteHello 11:15: I think that it's interesting that this blog you criticize actually preaches the Gospel more than all of the COGs combined - despite preaching the Gospel not necessarily being the mission of the blog.
ReplyDeleteThat preaching of the Gospel is one very good work the blog does; I am glad that COG members and former COG members can come to this blog and learn about biblical concepts such as grace, redemption, and justification - the concepts that the COGs refuse to teach.
I pray for the COG members visiting this blog, as I'm sure other posters do too; we pray that the people of the COGs may come to know Jesus and the biblical topics mentioned above.
I've prayed for you too.
Another good work this blog provides is exposing all the non-biblical concepts the COGs preach, and the lies and hypocrisy of the COGs.
You're welcome!
Who's the 'we' ?
DeleteContrary to biblical definition of true religion, HWA and his ministry have always played up the notion that the only thing members should do to help the world is keep donating to their church.
ReplyDeleteAll of the financial sacrificing of the members has had almost no impact on "reaching" the world.
Even the majority of new COG members gained, have at some point seen the light and have left the COG, with their scars and trauma.
Armstrongism has had a net negative impact on the world.
HWA defined and set the standards for good deeds in his church, and the members have largely adhered to these throughout the history of the Armstrong movement. Most members, therefore, if they are still living out HWA's definitions, would tell you that their church is doing good deeds. Since HWA is seen as a quasi-Biblical character, ("God's Apostle"), it does not bother the members that they are missing the good deeds which are the natural outflow, or fruits of the Holy Spirit, nor does it bother them that they act in the complete opposite of the understandings and traditions of the greater Christian community, and also of Jewish understanding that it is a Jew's purpose to repair a broken world, in whatever ways he or she can, and to make it better. Many Jews believe that this is why God allows there to be a broken world in which all of us must live. When you think about it long enough to get past the cliches, that is actually the only explanation which makes sense. Applying a key concept of Armstrongism in a way in which Armstrongites are guaranteed not to grasp, these sustained individual efforts to improve what we can of a broken world are about the only training one could possibly receive to "qualify" for rulership or any sort of administrative position in the Millennium or the Kingdom. Thinking you can ignore and do nothing now, except support your church, and that somehow God takes a funnel and pours experience into your brain when you receive your "crown" is really not compatible with Jesus' parable of the pounds or talents. It also is not compatible with the character of a God who loves His children unconditionally and rains on the just and the unjust alike.
ReplyDeleteWell said.
DeleteThe claim that this blog is preaching the gospel is the fox talking to the chickens. Without doubt this is a self righteous, sanctimonious blog giving themselves preeminence of being more christian than thou. The character of Jesus Christ is yet to be found in this blog of destruction.
ReplyDeleteLook out for those who walk with God, with a limp. Beware of the Pastors who strut walk to the podiums.
This is so confusing. Depending on the day, "this blog" is either run by anti-God athiests and "evilutionists", or megaChristians of the Protestant type, or COG ministers being double agents. I dont know how you Anons can be so readily inconsistent.
DeleteOr better yet, when Thiel calls Gary or Tonto or Dennis "accusers of the brethren". Complete nonsense, since they're quite clearly accusing HIM, not the brethren, but it isnt as defensible to say "theyre accusing me".
DeleteThe inconsistency rests with the perpetrators"RSK".
DeleteThere are doctrines and then policies and traditions which relate to how the doctrines are executed. The entire goal of Christianity is to elevate normal human behavior, to a transcendent state, a more spiritually developed set of behavioral patterns.
ReplyDeleteHerbert W. Armstrong applied his doctrines in such a way that members were taught to practice the way of "give" primarily towards the church itself and its extreme financial needs. To do this, doctrinal justification was found for excluding others whenever moneys which "should be going towards the work" was concerned. Don't waste your money on the homeless. Don't contribute to "this world's" charities because they seek to help the people whom God is punishing. Don't even privately give assistance to needy brethren that you know in the church, the ministers will make all such decisions. Don't help non-WCG family members. They are not being called at this time. Unless your children are attending "God's college", let them pay for their own education. Don't save money for retirement, the end is coming in 3-5 years.
If any reasonable person were to look back on similar situation involving fellow humans, he or she would recognize hundreds of ways that HWA used his doctrines in such a way that they excluded others from your help in ways that all civilized society at large would normally encourage and even expect. He was all about give when it came to you giving to his church, but it was all about their evil desire to "get" when others legitimately needed your assistance which he felt would divert your financial resources away from his little pissant work.
I could respond to this by mentioning some of the "good works" COGs are doing in various places.
ReplyDeleteBut if I did, this blog would accuse me of arrogant self-promotion and ego. And rightly so, because we're not really supposed to let anyone know about the deeds we do (Matthew 6:3-4).
So if this post is a trap along those lines, I won't step into it.
So I guess that if you don't see them, they didn't happen.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how judgemental the folks on this blog are, all while accusing the COG of it.
Anon127,
ReplyDeleteThis blog has taught the Gospel. Granted, there are many barbed arguments against Armstrongism that are offensive to those in the COGs, but showing the false teachings of Armstrongism is the initial purpose of the blog. Still, the Gospel message is presented regularly.
For you, the initial sting of arguments against Armstrongism might make that Gospel temporarily offensive (understandably), but for those that are questioning Armstrongism or being first introduced to Armstrongism, the arguments act to show the falseness of Armstrongism and hopefully allows the true Gospel to be communicated.
You talk about those in this blog positioning themselves as "being more Christian than thou." Because the WCG/COGs claim all outside the COGs are not Christian, it is necessary to point out what makes a Christian and where the COG teaching fails. Obviously, there are many pitfalls in that discussion. Most of us came from the same teachings, so there is no place for posturing.
We are all things to all people…. 😈
ReplyDeleteI have a history with Worldwide and it's offshoots since the early 1970's. Unfortunately it is true that too many of the churches in the Armstrong tradition did or do little in the category of good works. Too many have focused on HWA or that particular group's leader as " That Prophet" or that he has inherited HWA's Mantle but did little to be a shining light to the world. HWA's trips abroad were basically worthless expenditures of church tithes and donations. You rarely heard of any assistance to widows & orphans. Too much focus was placed on garbage teachings of church government, church eras and rank.
ReplyDeleteDIRTY DEEDS
ReplyDeleteThe Roman Catholic Church has about one billion people. Its Protestant daughter churches have almost another billion people. So almost two billion people out of the current eight billion people on earth are professing “Christians.” That is about 25% of the earth's population. What are the results of this? Has any good ever come of any of this?
If the Roman Catholic Church and its Protestant daughter churches are named in the Holy Bible as “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Revelation 17:5), then maybe their deeds are not so good either.
Indeed, the Roman Catholic Church and its Protestant daughter churches are all about opposing God's laws, customs, and ways. Yet they try to pass themselves off as holy and righteous. But, of course, as the Holy Bible explains, all of their own so-called “righteousness” is as “filthy rags.”
There's no doubt in my mind that 11.15 is a minister. Who else talks in such a haughty, top dog manner? Christ by contrast was humble and talked TO people rather than talked down to them like King Tut. The author's tone means he feels and treats members as having no rights, yet he preaches to us.
ReplyDeleteChrist said "follow me" 23 or 24 times depending on how one verse is translated. Has this minister once given a sermon or sermonette on following Christ, pointing out that Christ leads every member DIRECTLY without a middleman minister? I attended services for 10 years and never heard such a sermon or read any such article in church literature. Instead I was hit over the head non stop with "obey, yield, surrender, submit." all referring to the ministers of course. This is the ministers usurping Christ's role, the same sin as Moses.
This author's tone betrays that he is guilty of this sin.
Why doesn't he do the honest thing and call his church The Church of HWA or similar, and pray to Herb rather than God?
Btw, HWA likened conversion to Japan's unconditional surrender during WW2. The implication being that members have no rights before his ministers. So forget about "obeying God rather than man" or not having their faith lorded over.
ReplyDeleteIn fact Japan surrendered according to the Potsdam Declaration, which defined the "unconditional surrender" and permitted the role of emperor. America never touched Japan's culture or religion. General McArthur passed a law that if any American soldier struck a Japanese, they were to get a 5 year prison sentence. This is very different to church members "surrender."
This is another example of HWA twisting and distorting most everything.
16:52 You are the one distorting with "implication." It meant surrender or submission to God not the ministers. And any of Japan's unconditional surrender's terms were "granted" through the "unconditional". BTW HWA got his medal for our Good Works regarding the return of Okinawa to Japan. Serving billions of people to this day (like all WCG 's good deeds) as we see use it to contain China. Nck
DeleteTo the author of DIRTY DEEDS at 5:50: wow, what a stunning display of Armstrongism brainwashing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will consider checking your beliefs against history and the Bible.
After stating that the world has about two billion Christians, you asked if any good has come of this - with the inference that no, no good has come from those who profess Christianity.
In the US, every small city has a hospital with a Christian affiliation; in larger cities, it's common to have multiple hospitals affiliated with several denominations, such as Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Babtist, and Lutheran.
Christians founding and operating hospitals has been throughout the ages, and across the globe, missions of mercy to the suffering and needy.
There's also historically and globally been Christian missions dedicated to feeding and educating those with no other opportunity to have their needs met.
In the US, there are several prominent (and legitimate) universities that have a Christian affiliation - which is a testimony to the centuries-long tradition of Christian Universities in other countries.
Much of what we enjoy in life now has some connection to an education system touched by Christianity, either through invention or improvement.
Hopefully, you can agree that there has been some good in the efforts of Christians described above.
I don't think you'd agree that any of the Christians you're disparaging have enjoyed better lives through worshiping God - but, I hope you will acknowledge that within the wider group you are criticizing, many are considered to be culturally Christian but not so much religiously Christian.
For example, many people from around the world label the US as a Christian nation.
In reality, about 54 percent of the US population identifies as Christian (surveys vary) - and many among that 54 percent are not practicing, but rather cultural Christians.
Certainly, there have always been some bad apples among those in Christian Churches - most would assume that these people were never part of the body of Christ, despite being within the midst of the Church.
Armstrongism has the same types of people.

"If the Roman Catholic Church and its Protestant daughter churches are named in the Holy Bible as “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Revelation 17:5), then maybe their deeds are not so good either."
Well, the Bible does not name Catholics and Protestants.
That is one of the myths of Armstrongism that cannot be proven from the Bible.
Challenge yourself to become free from doctrines that are not explicitly spelled out in the Bible.
You also wrote:
"Indeed, the Roman Catholic Church and its Protestant daughter churches are all about opposing God's laws, customs, and ways."
Before condemning others, challenge yourself to go through the Old Testament and identify every command uttered by God that the COGs refuse to obey - and - look to the New Testament for depictions of how what God requires is very different under the very different New Covenant.
You also wrote:
"Yet they try to pass themselves off as holy and righteous. But, of course, as the Holy Bible explains, all of their own so-called “righteousness” is as “filthy rags.”
You criticized the righteousness of others but neglected to identify any righteousness or good deeds of the COGs.
Is the conclusion you were drawing something related to the "good works" of the COGs, their contribution to the planet, their legacy for future generations, is just condemnation and criticism?
"Indeed, the Roman Catholic Church and its Protestant daughter churches are all about opposing God's laws, customs, and ways. Yet they try to pass themselves off as holy and righteous. But, of course, as the Holy Bible explains, all of their own so-called “righteousness” is as “filthy rags.” "
ReplyDeleteWell said. That is exactly the "christianity" espoused by many on this blog, all while claiming to be under grace.
LAODICEA ERA
ReplyDeleteAccording to Herbert W. Armstrong's Church Eras Theory, this would now be the Laodicea era of the church. Do NOT expect all sorts of “good deeds” from the WCG splinter groups. Rather, expect their behavior to be so very bad that they will need to, and fully deserve to, go into a “Great Tribulation” to help them to get smartened up.
Anon515,
ReplyDeleteIt would be helpful if, at some point, something specific was actually pointed out to show the protestant churches oppose God’s laws, ways, and customs.
Do you mean murder, stealing, bearing false witness, adultery, incest, taking God’s name in vain, worshipping another God? I’d like some specifics.
Is it mainly the Sabbath?
Are the Messianic Jews orSeventh Day Adventists considered Christian by you; I mean as Christian as the WCG under Armstrong.
Specifics are needed to understand your position.
NO GOOD FRUIT FROM THORNBUSHES
ReplyDeleteIt needs to be UNDERSTOOD and REMEMBERED that some of the WCG splinter groups, such as Gerald Flurry's PCG and Dave Pack's RCG, are satanic imposter cults. In order to attract Herbert W. Armstrong's former followers and their wallets and income streams and estates, both Gerald and Dave falsely claimed to be holding on more faithfully to the teachings of HWA than anyone else. This was a deliberate, dastardly, devilish deception. Satan did not found the PCG and the RCG to have them hold on faithfully to anything that HWA had taught. Both the PCG and the RCG exist to do extreme evil, especially to former WCG people, not to do any “good deeds” at all.
Hello 5:32
ReplyDeleteIf those of us who claim to be under grace really are as opposed to God’s laws and ways as you believe we are - does that make sufficient cause for the COGs to avoid preaching about grace?
If those of us who claim to be under grace really are as dirty as filthy rags - is that sufficient reason for the COGs to neglect to preach about being justified by the righteousness of Jesus?
One frustrating thing about attempting to converse with Armstrongites is the widely practiced habit of condemning others as a means of avoidance of dealing with COG faults.
My sins and standing with God have nothing to do with your church devaluing the saving power of the Savior and the grace and justification he offers.
How do you personally vindicate your church for not preaching the biblical doctrines of grace and justification?
It's never been about making the world a better place. It's about learning love, caring, compassion, gentleness, and mercy, so that we can grow to be more like our Father and our elder Brother.
ReplyDeleteIn Manecheistic or Dualistic worldview as WCG theology was it is IMPOSSIBLE to make that which is of dust better or a better place. In Calvi ism one can only loose God's grace that has been predestined before time, not improve it.
ReplyDeleteNck
Anon822,
ReplyDelete"It's never been about making the world a better place. It's about learning love, caring, compassion, gentleness, and mercy, so that we can grow to be more like our Father and our elder Brother."
I believe you cannot separate these two, which is a major failing of the COGs.
ONLY ROTTEN FRUIT FROM THE GODLESS
ReplyDeleteThe main reason for the creation of the UCG was so that the unemployed former WCG ministers could continue to collect paychecks and get retirement plans. I suppose it could be argued that they were trying to do themselves a “good deed.”
The UCG basically did away with the laws and ways of God early on in actual practice by allowing everyone to believe and behave however they wanted to. All sorts of unrepentant, unconverted, unbelieving sinners and weirdos showed up to behave very badly while playing church. The true believers were expected to put up with all the very bad behavior of all the godless freaks and weirdos in order to “show love” to them. This was a major departure from the teachings of the WCG under HWA, and nothing but evil ever came of it.
Trooisto on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 4:03:00 AM PST said... something about being able to ignore the laws, customs, and ways of God as long as you do supposedly “good deeds” such as founding universities and hospitals.
ReplyDeleteI have read in the New Testament of the Holy Bible where Jesus and his chosen apostles taught people and miraculously healed people. Can you point out where they founded universities and hospitals?
Frankly, it seems like you picked a very bad time in history to praise universities and hospitals.
The main teachings of modern universities are the Theory of Evilution and gross sexual immorality.
The main purpose of modern hospitals is to perform abortions, transgender surgeries, and to kill people.
The “Fauci Protocol” in hospitals in recent years has been to give people a PCR test set at such a high cycle rate that it gives 95% false positives, then give the victims Fauci's favorite deadly drug Remdesivir (pronounced by some people as, “Run, death is near.”) to destroy their kidneys, and then put them on ventilators to finish them off. The hospitals get paid big bucks every step of the way for calling it a COVID-19 death, rather than calling it paid murder for money by the hospitals. Some people say that the hospitals have become the new killing fields. The hospitals were used to give people the newfangled, mRNA, gene therapy, Poison Death Shots that have caused spikes in excess mortality around the world wherever and whenever they were introduced.

Hello Anonymous of Saturday at 8:42:
ReplyDeleteYour post is highly valuable to this conversation.
I hope readers who are contemplating joining Armstrongism and those contemplating leaving Armstrongism will seriously consider what you wrote.
You displayed three very common workings of the COGlodyte mind.
It is truly fascinating how this mindset devises an alternate reality and how that alternate reality is so widely shared amongst COG members.
While your post is highly instructive as to how the COGlodyte mind interprets the beliefs of others and the word around them - the piece I'm missing, and desperate to understand is the WHY?
The three common COGlodyte traits displayed are:
1. Bearing false witness against others whom the COGs have methodically demonized.
2. Articulating beliefs that are strongly held but easy to disprove with facts easy to obtain.
3. Being prone to swallow and pontificate about odd conspiracy theories.
For example, you wrote:
Trooisto on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 4:03:00 AM PST said... something about being able to ignore the laws, customs, and ways of God as long as you do supposedly “good deeds” such as founding universities and hospitals.
That's a perfect example of bearing false witness.
I never said, in that post you cited, or ever, that anyone is exempt from observing God's commands, customs, or ways.
However, I have said that the COGs do not understand what God's commands are.
I've also said that COGs refuse to follow most Old Covenant commands and have altered other Old Covenant commands to suit their preferences.
The Old Covenant command that forbids bearing false witness is no longer in effect - it has been replaced with a broader requirement that includes a prohibition against lying, plus prohibiting all evil thoughts and motives that are related to the formulation and articulation of the lie.
Despite God's instruction, COGs seem to have no problem twisting the words of those they dislike, as a continual effort to demonize their foes.
This COG tactic violates both the Old Covenant command and the New Covenant requirement.
Regarding your statement about hospitals, you wrote:
"The main purpose of modern hospitals is to perform abortions, transgender surgeries, and to kill people."
Just searching statistics, just for a few minutes on the internet, would show anyone who is interested in the truth that the actual numbers prove that your statement is very far from the truth.
An interesting (to me) side note: I had a friend who was a doctor in one of the hospitals you've disparaged.
He was an atheist but would often tell me of patient events that he said he could only describe as a miracle.
I believe Jesus and his followers still do perform miracles - often these miracles happen in hospitals.
Regarding your screed on the “Fauci Protocol” - yes you can find all types of information on COVID - from reputable and disrepute sources.
The COGlodyte mind is drawn to hard-core immersion into dubious conspiracy theories; for example, the COGs are obsessed with elaborate "biblical prophecies" about Germany - despite the fact that Germany is never mentioned in the Bible.
While I hope that those contemplating their future in Armstrongism will seriously consider your words, I still am interested in discovering why Armstronites are driven to perpetuate the three traits detailed above.
8:42, can you help me understand the why?
Trooisto on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 9:53:00 AM PST said...“8:42, can you help me understand the why?”

Hello 1:42
ReplyDeleteYou’re probably right, I may never understand why Armstrongites do what they do.
I should just keep praying for them and leave the matter in God’s hands.
Trooisto on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 9:53:00 AM PST has his three points exactly BACKWARDS.
ReplyDelete“The three common COGlodyte traits displayed are:
1. Bearing false witness against others whom the COGs have methodically demonized.
2. Articulating beliefs that are strongly held but easy to disprove with facts easy to obtain.
3. Being prone to swallow and pontificate about odd conspiracy theories.”
1. It is actually the Roman Catholic Church that slandered and demonized true Christians, calling them “anathema from Christ” and having the state torture and kill them unless they recanted and converted to Roman Catholicism. It was the Roman Catholic Church that was “drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus” (Revelation 17:6).
2. It is actually the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church that are easily disproven with facts that are easy to obtain. A book called The Story of Christianity that was written by a Catholic says that, “...pagan festivals were taken over to become Christmas and Easter, and a place was found for pagan philosophy and literature in Christian thought.”
3. The Covid-19 Plandemic/Scamdemic was a military grade Psyop or Psychological Operation. People who knew nothing at all and never looked into anything at all suddenly and mindlessly parroted the script that the Poison Death Shots were “safe and effective.” Now, nobody wants to look into the data about the adverse reactions to the jabs.
Hello Anonymous of 7:49: I've been wondering if you are a COG minister or just spoofing us.
ReplyDeleteEither intended as classic bully tactics of a minister or done for the sake of humor, your COG moves are highly instructive for people contemplating joining or leaving a COG - so please keep it coming.
I can't believe anyone would fall for your tricks of word twisting and lying - yet - the COGs are populated with people who've been duped by the very same cons you plainly display.
Any and all lies told by Catholics can never remove your sin of bearing false witness about what I wrote a few days ago.
Look to Jesus to pay the price for your lying and cleanse you from your guilt - instead of seeking absolution via condemning Catholics.
Forget about the speck in the eye of your neighbors, the teachings of the Catholics, when the COG vision is marred by rejecting Jesus as a Savior who gets the job done, a Savior whose grace forgives all your guilt and whose righteousness justifies you in the sight of God.
Instead of preaching about the evils of the Catholics, preach about the glory of Jesus.
Even if you were completely correct about your COVID conspiracy theories, that victory could never outshine the thousands of COG predictions, uttered in the name of God, that failed to come true.
Though your preaching illuminates COG beliefs in a way that is uniquely helpful to save those contemplating a future with the COGs, I will continue to pray that you will come to enjoy the light of Jesus.
COGWA is trying to do what you're encouraging:
ReplyDeletehttps://foundationoutreachintl.org/projects/hilltop-outreach-program
I don't care who you are, but it just feels so fucking good to do good or nice things for other people when it's completely unexpected, and there's no strings attached, and no payback expected! If you find excuses to avoid doing good things, you're robbing youself of being one of the folks who is putting something back instead of always taking out!
ReplyDeleteIt's especially a gas to give or do when nobody has just commanded you to be a cheerful giver for the umpteenth billion time!
There seems to be a massive amount of apparent COG members and ministers getting offended about the articles and the comments on this blog page.
ReplyDeleteThey are very quick to shout 'hypocrite', anti-god and all that so if this blog is so offensive to them then why are they lurking here and putting the effort into commenting?
If the pro COG's are that disturbed by what is written then maybe it's hitting a deeply hidden sore spot. A sore spot that needs to be acknowledged and acted on.
I'm quite sure god is quite capable of smiting this blog if he so wished and I'm also quite sure he doesn't need a mere human to do it for him.
So, our good deeds don't count unless you see us do them?
ReplyDeleteUnlike the Catholic/Protestant version, we don't go about tooting our horns as we follow God's instructions.
“ Unlike the Catholic/Protestant version, we don't go about tooting our horns as we follow God's instructions.”
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! You do nothing of the sort. Catholic and Protestant outshine you in every aspect of the Christian walk. Nice deflection, but it doesnt work when Armstrongism is involved.
"we don't go about tooting our horns as we follow God's instructions."
ReplyDeleteThat'd be a first.
Associating COVID 19 with a post questioning the COG's response to doing good works is laughable. Does your monitor fog up from all the mouth breathing you do on a daily basis? It's all a conspiracy from satan .. Catholicism .. Protestantism.. But your version of Christianity amalgamated in the early 1900s after the failure of Millerites is somehow inexplicably the true church. Armstrong is the Elijah of the movement.. And you wait with baited breath for the next prophecy affirming what you've always known is true but few see.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your gnostic cult while you can.
Years ago, there had been a fire close to where we work, we'd all seen it and were discussing it over our morning coffee. The prospects of arson were being raised. Since I was a little late that morning, one of the guys asked if I had stopped to watch it. I explained that I wouldn't do that because cops probably watched the lookie loos for suspects. One of the guys said, "The cops aren't looking at people who stopped to watch the fire, they're watching for people who are jacking off to the fire!"
ReplyDeleteI guess I was a little bit naive in those days, but I had never known that arsonists often had bizarre sexual proclivities which motivated them to start fires. It was the only way they could get off. I learned that this is apparently a thing, a principle. It applies in other areas. People often indulge in weird practices because it gets them off sexually. From time to time, reading a lot of the pro-Armstrong comments here, I've wondered if certain Armstrongites maybe might have something in common with the arsonists. There is no doubt that Armstrongism is a form of mental masturbation.
