Football season has arrived with the start of September here in the United States. Both College and NFL teams are starting their seasons off this month. Football stadiums will be filled to the brim with diehard fans. Televisions will be tuned to the games and food and drinks will be overflowing with fans.
But not in Grover Beach/Arroyo Grande, CA! No sirree, Bob! Our favorite crackpot, self-appointed, and deluded prophet is back getting his holistic undies tied up into another indignant knot.
After numerous quotes about sports injuries during the games, he has to open his undignified sacred mouth and make a royal ass of himself, once again. Satan is the father of American football and the Great Bwana to Africa is having none of it!
The National Football League (NFL) season is upon us as the 2024 NFL season is set to kick off on Thursday, September 5th.
Should Christians support this?
Early Christians would not have watched sports like it.
What kind of sport is NFL football?
A violent and damaging one. One that will hurt people this season.
The Great Bwana is "crying aloud and sparing not" when it comes to football. He is a beta boy when it comes to preaching about Jesus, but not when it comes to football! He speaks with force and power for all to see and hear!
Many non-Philadelphian Christians do not wish to seriously consider that American tackle football is harmful, despite the facts, and would prefer that I not post about it.
The Bible suggests otherwise:
1 Cry aloud, spare not;Lift up your voice like a trumpet;Tell My people their transgression,And the house of Jacob their sins. (Isaiah 58:1)
The reality is that American tackle football is evil–the players get harmed. This really is not debatable as it is an established fact.
A little later he has to drag Living Church of God into the mix due to the bitterness still raging inside him after all of these years. The Great Bwana Bob suffers from LCGDS: Living Church of God Derangement Syndrome. It eats away at his soul daily ever since the church rejected him en masse when he apostatized.
Clearly with any who have eyes to see, the fruits of this ‘sport’ are evil.
Over the years, I have seemingly stood alone among Church of God leaders in the 21st century warning against American tackle football. I first spoke against it at the old Spokesman’s Club in the Worldwide Church of God last century. And, when I brought the subject up in the Living Church of God, it made many uncomfortable enough to take steps leading to my departure from that group.
There is no doubt that American tackle football is dangerous to health. While some in the world consider watching it to be an ‘ethical uncertainty,’ true Philadelphia Christians (as well as many who are not) realize that something about this sport is physically harmful and should not be encouraged.
Let me state that there is a human tendency to try to justify sin. Many think if something feels right to them, it must be. According to the Bible, that is a wrong attitude:
9 “The heart is deceitful above all things,And desperately wicked;Who can know it?10 I, the Lord, search the heart,I test the mind,Even to give every man according to his ways,
Bad Philadelphians are also displeasing God by watching football and those scantly clad cheerleaders. Sigh.
I could not reconcile loving my neighbor as myself and cherishing my flesh and not doing violence to any man by watching others do it in a football game. Consider also the following:
9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10)Jesus also said:
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God. (John 3:20-21, NKJV).
Is watching American football a deed that would be pleasing to God?
He drags in Apostle Paul to prove football is wrong:
The Apostle Paul wrote:
12… they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.(2 Thessalonians 2:12) 29 … they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:29-32, NKJV)
The Great Bwana Bob then has to drag Herbert up out of the grave to use him to support his LCGDS:
The late WCG Pastor-General Herbert W. Armstrong categorized American tackle football as evil.
You may be telling yourself, well since my church does not (presuming you do not support a group like the Continuing Church of God which does) condemn football and/or possibly encourages it, the Bible really does not apply here. If so, be careful about accepting that type of tradition. Jesus Himself taught:
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:8 “These people draw near to Me with their mouth,And honor Me with their lips,But their heart is far from Me.9 And in vain they worship Me,Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. (Matthew 15:7-9)
14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. (Revelation 3:14-19)
The Great Bwana Bob then goes off by letting you know that in his household NO ONE watches evil satanic football and those who do are Laodiceans (especially LCG members who refuse to heed his call).
I do not watch American football. I consider that it is evil (also, no Christian can really defend how professional football cheerleading females are often publicly dressed and displayed). Others want to falsely act like there is nothing wrong with watching it.
Some may not wish to hear about any of the evils of violent sports, and instead prefer smooth things, but hopefully I have tried to follow the Apostle Paul who declared:
26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. (Acts 20:26-27)
The bodies and blood of those who engage in violent sports is important. It does not show Philadelphia love.
Regarding American football, do you believe that Jesus or the Apostle Paul would endorse it? This is something that Christians, and those that claim to be, should think and pray about.
Those Laodicean Christians who are fans of American tackle football are NOT Philadelphians and will be subject to violence themselves as they will have to go through the Great Tribulation if they do not repent (Revelation 3:14-22).
Encouraging violence in sports does not show brotherly/Philadelphian love.
Philadelphian Christians do not watch American tackle football–whether the USA or Canadian version of it.
American tackle football puts the participant at risk of one kind of brain damage.
ReplyDeleteArmstrongism, especially Bobism, puts the participant at risk of a different kind of brain damage.
You pays your money and you takes your choice.
Haven't you read: Thou shalt not watch football. Oh wait! Oops.......where no law is there is no transgression. I read that somewhere........
ReplyDeleteMy question is who the hell is going to allow pussy-boy Thiel to define "Philadelphia Christian" for them, or to decide who gets kicked out of that club? He is nobody and nothing, and his vote doesn't even count.
ReplyDeleteNothing that beta-boy Bob Thiel preaches or expounds upon is of any worth to anyone. His so-called Christianity is morally and spiritually bankrupt. He sticks his nose into things he has no reason to. He is an abusive authoritarian. He isn't the guardian of truth any more than David Pack is. These guys are all liars.
ReplyDelete''...A violent and damaging one. One that will hurt people this season..''
ReplyDeleteOdd indeed such people rail against damage caused by football, elevating it to a sin such that they don't dare to watch. But it is a fact these churches ex Armstrong , including Armstrong himself, inflicted significant damage on many believers for a considerable period.
I am not going to try to rank the damage between football and these churches, such would not be possible. Suffice to note the large amount of damage they have caused over many years via their conduct and false teachings.
BOB THIEL IS AN EGO DRIVEN BIG BOY WANNA BE LEADER, THAT RELIES ON HIS AFRICAN WITCHDOCTOR CONN MEN TO STROKE HIS EGO WITH BULLSHIT DREAMS AND DELUSIONS OF PROPHETHOOD- HIS OLDEST SON IS ON RECORD YEARS AGO DENONCING HIS FATHER, HENCE HES STILL IN LCG, I BELIEVE HIS OTHER SON IS ALSO- WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU; SADLY BOBBY IS LETTING SATAN DECEIVE HIM THROUGH HIS OWN VANITY- WHICH IS WHY BOB BELIEVES ALL THOSE FAIRY TAIL EXCUSES OF EVANS OCHIENG AND RADSON MULOZOWA, HENCE THATS WHY THE SPELLS THEY CAST ON BOB WORK SO WELL, SATAN HAS GOT BOB WELL AND CONTROLLED THROUGH BOBS SIN OF PRIDE, EVERYBODY BUT BOB KNOWS THE TRUTH, TIME FOR BOBBY TO EAT SOME HUMBLE PIE 🥧 🤪😜
ReplyDeleteAmerican football is way too dangerous. Guys built like gorillas ramming into one another? How stupid. Their life span is in the 50s, so no, it won't be allowed in the millennium. The rednecks will have to find some other form of entertainment.
ReplyDeleteBtw, WWE type "wrestling" won't be permitted either, so they can gnash their teeth on that one as well.
Will there actually even be rednecks in the Millennium, or will God have healed them?
DeleteThey want to do it, so it's not our place to criticize.
DeletePlayers nurture the will from the days of Pee Wee football and devote tons of time and training in search of their dreams of performing at top tier level, gaining fame and incredible recompense.
Beats the hell out of translating one's own farts into prophecy and fear-mongering people into paying you their non-biblical tithes for the rest of their lives!
Now we understand why Bob finds it such a breeze to endure constant verbal beatdown. Wonder what will ever happen to him if the persecution ever morphs into an NFL level beatdown. He didn't play tackle football, so he won't be prepared!
I remember when all the OT prophets as well, of course, as Jesus disciples, Jesus himself, the Apostles Peter, James and John and Paul railed on the Roman games and gladiatorial combat, to the death, as too dangerous. They also ranted against the Caesars and government officials for allowing such displays of violence. Short swords, tridents, fire and wild animals were simply too dangerous to those so disposed. Don't even get me started the Coliseum and the misuse of public funds on that miserable public disgrace. And on the Sabbath! Unbelievable...
ReplyDeleteIs he just upset when war is going on. War is far more dangerous than football.
ReplyDeleteWhen is BOOBY going to attack "pickle ball" ??? :-)
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Bob condemn rugby, a violent sport very popular in Kenya? Is Bob afraid that his Africans would abandon him? Thanks to its play-by-play pauses and its extensive safety equipment, our Petulant Pansy Prophet could probably survive a game of football, but a proper game of rugby would probably get Bob killed. Have Bob's witch doctors blinded him to the evils of rugby? Or does he not care about the health of his African members?
ReplyDeleteLittle Bobby Thiel said, "The late WCG Pastor-General Herbert W. Armstrong categorized American tackle football as evil".
ReplyDeleteMY COMMENT - I do not believe this Bobby Thiel statement is true. I am calling little Bobby out on it. Please provide documentation of HWA making YOUR statement categorizing "American tackle football as evil". I never heard him say it or write it during my years attending WCG (1968 - 1976). My family in Armstrongism goes back to the 1950s, and long after I left, my mother went on as a member with GCG/LCG until she died. My mother use to host family Super Bowl watch Spaghetti dinners particularly when the Washington Redskins were in the Super Bowls. She would never have done that if she knew HWA categorized "American football as evil". And she listened and read every HWA word VERY closely.
I trust my mother more than a fake prophet/HWA wannabe. So, put or shut up on this one little Bobby, and provide your source documentation for your claim.
This might surprise little Bobby Thiel, but some things in life are much more dangerous and violent than American tackle football. Here are a couple of examples, just to give little Bobby Thiel some perspective:
- There are roughly 40,000 automobile fatalities in the USA. Far more dangerous than American Tackle football, yet I am sure that doesn't stop little Bobby Thiel from driving. Ask Richard Armstrong's family which one is more dangerous - playing American tackle football OR going on a baptizing tour in a car with Alton Billingsley?
- Which one is more dangerous - playing American tackle football OR attending the Milwaukee LCG congregation on the Sabbath when Terry Ratzmann killed 7 brethren. Attending an ACOG can get you killed. Just ask the family members.
Thiel's annual denouncement of American football is nonsense. It is not what a real prophet would focus on. Morph yourself into your Cartoon Bob character and focus on the open door you claim God gave your grossly misnamed Continuing Chuch of God.
Richard
A lot of good points there Richard.
DeleteRichard, I don't agree with you. The 40,000 auto accident are in the category of a business-mans-risk. There's risks in all endeavours and this risk is acceptable. Nations allow cars and associated accidents since the alternative loss of every manner productivity is greater. It's the lesser of the two evils. This is not the case for American football and rugby for which there are alternatives.
DeleteA teenager in my state was turned into a paraplegic after a rugby tackle at a high school game. So forget having this sport in the millennium.
I guess you could say the COG groups compete against each other like a sport instead of coming together.
DeleteThe late WCG Pastor-General Herbert W. Armstrong categorized male effeminacy as evil. AC had an annual Field Day where young men pushed themselves to excel physically in ways that the dainty-soft Bwana Bob could never manage. When you consider the level of aggression that HWA encouraged in AC faculty basketball games, it becomes clear that while he didn't like violence in sports, he abhorred even more the idea of effeminacy in men. In his youth, Bob's soft mentor, Rod Meredith, could get out on the racquetball court and smash his opponents. By HWA's standard, Bob really is the Pansy Prophet.
ReplyDeleteIf HWA encouraged young men to excel physically on occasion, it's only the Pharisaic mask of masculinity. The ACOG culture has always been that of grooming its members to be docile and passive. There was only one article in the old Plain Truth or Goods News magazine about assertiveness, and that was sneaked in just after Herb's death. Scratch the surface, and Herb s church bred effeminate men.
DeleteRiding bicycles produced more deaths last year than the NFL games. Golfing has about 1 or 2 deaths per year too, mainly due to lightning.
ReplyDeleteWe all have a healthy dose of that gladiator spirit in us. It's either something that God put there, or it's a remnant part of our nature from an earlier period of mankind's evolution, but it is even present, albeit in different forms, in those whom we once called sissies. It is perfectly normal to face down danger, or even to just passively live with it for prolonged periods of time. There are myriad ways to do this, and it is easy from the comfort of one's armchair, to criticize the ways in which others deliberately confront danger.
ReplyDeleteThe guy who looks down on football players, boxers, or race car drivers might drive his car like a maniac, smoke cigarettes, or indulge in sky diving. Someone who would never do any of these might simply deliberately avoid regular colonoscopies. People intentionally present themselves to others in ways that makes others hate them. Whether that person happens to be transsexual, or a strict Christian, it is the gladiatorial hardwiring of human dna which causes them to willingly face the dangers their behavior might bring upon them.
There are also exceptions and anomalies. Some individuals are afraid of life, and more or less hide out, never testing themselves, never taking any risks. Perhaps these are the most intense gladiators of all, because their very passivity makes them instantly recognizable as perennial victims. Alas, I'm probably wrong on that. In order to be a gladiator, you must be intentional. Passive ones usually cluelessly wonder why others constantly hurt them and take advantage.
As if Bob could love ANYONE as much as he is into himself.
