This information originates from a source connected to Sheldon Monson's splinter group. I have removed the child's name from this post, but the full letter is rapidly spreading within the Church of God Assembly, violating minister/member confidentiality. Rather than seeking immediate professional medical counseling, Monson attempted to perform an exorcism. The "battle" reportedly continues, with the entire church expected to begin fasting and praying tonight (July 7, 2025). This young individual will likely face lasting stigma within the church, with members shunning them and parents restricting their children from associating with them.
Church of God members should be aware that privacy is virtually nonexistent in any Church of God. The Worldwide Church of God effectively trained its splinter leaders in this regard.
Good Evening Brethren,
We just returned home from Summer Camp this evening and thought it important to send this request out immediately. We are requesting prayers and fasting for B____. This past Sabbath I made an announcement just before the stream to those present at camp. I read Ephesians 6:10-13 and requested prayers for B____ stating he was in a spiritual battle and needed God’s help. It seemed prudent to announce the issue in this manner and to allow the children and campers to return home in order for parents to address this in a manner of their choosing.
Midway through the second week of camp it became clear that there was something wrong with B____. His dad and I pulled him out of the dorm and took him to our home where we spoke with him about what was going on when it became very clear that he had become possessed by several demons. From that moment on we isolated him from the entire camp. Only the minsters and their wives and few close friends were informed of the problem. All of the children in the house were removed to spend the night with other families. All five ministers present prayed fervently throughout the night Thursday and on several other occasions on both Friday and Saturday rebuking these demons and commanding them to come out in the name of Jesus Christ (Mark 16:17). It was clear that we were dealing with many demons as they constantly referred to themselves in the plural form and revealed themselves in different ways. One particular demon referred to himself as “Legion” on more than one occasion (Mark 5:9). On the trip home today one of these demons claimed to be the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. Some strong demons yet remain. It is for this reason that we are asking the entire Church to pray and fast beginning tomorrow evening at sunset, Monday, July 7th. Christ said that there were some demons who only come out by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21).
Today as we were about to leave camp they claimed that we had failed in our attempts to cast them out. Tomorrow several of us in the ministry will be traveling to Murfreesboro to continue beseeching God to intervene and cast these demons out. God is making it clear that no man will be able to take the credit for what He alone has the power to do. The glory goes to God – He will demonstrate His power – He will prevail. In the meantime we will pray and fast. We will not waver between belief and unbelief (James 1:6-8). We will continue to persevere patiently waiting for God to deliver B_____ from this trial. As we know “all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28); (Deuteronomy 8:16).

If your father is a bigwig in an ACOG and you're being forced against your will to attend a brainwashing summer camp, a response like B's is not just understandable but probably a very good coping strategy. If word of this spreads to other ACOGs, will we see an epidemic of "demon possessions" at camps this summer?

ReplyDeleteI'm reminded of the day John Amos (then in WCG, before moving to PCG) spent a long time during "announcements" at services speaking against marrying outside the church.
ReplyDeleteI was visiting the area and wondered what this was about. It turned out Mr. Amos was focused on a young man in the hall - a man who recently had done that. (That young man told me so afterward.)
Mr. Amos didn't name names, but many people there probably knew who he meant. For Mr. Monson to go beyond that is stunning.
I saw where Amos died last year. He was in that Pierce Brosnan movie, “The Last Rifleman,” about the WWII vet, but I will always remember him from “Good Times.”
DeleteI would urge these ministers to make sure that this young man is provided with proper medical care immediately. There are known mental illnesses which can be diagnosed and treated. There are also deadly toxins such as ergot and jimson weed, which when ingested, can cause hallucination and other systems.
ReplyDeleteIt also seems conveniently suspicious that a church-raised kid would choose spiritual names right from the pages of the Bible. Healthcare professionals would be able to see through a ruse. The young man could have had it up to here with his parents religion and could be retaliating in a way which mimics a power that the church people all fear. Again, healthcare professionals would be able to make a proper assessment.
Both psychologists and psychiatrists are legally bound by confidentiality laws. Violating these laws can result in lawsuits, and the lose of their license. But this doesn't apply to ministers of religion. History is that information given by members ends up in a church "dirt file." It's often passed along by word of mouth by other ministers and elders. While such information might be genuinely helpful at times, eg, member X is a psychopath, more often than not, it's used as a control mechanism against members. And not only that, but members can't even know what their file contains or challenge it's inaccuracies. How can the ministers say "mind your own business" to members regarding their file, since it personally impacts them?

Based on ministers past behavior, it's wise to keep one's problems exclusively with God alone.
Yes, and unfortunately ministers or not usually mandatory reporters of abuse and such (thank you, Catholics). Normally, animal welfare is the only place I break Left politically. But I might actually agree a little bit with political liberals here on this one point, and would love to see that changed.

ReplyDeleteExorcism is an all or nothing. I remember the late Ron Dart talking about exorcisms, and he seemed to have a point. It’s not a drawn-out process. “In the name of [INSERT DEITY, MESSIAH FIGURE, OR CHILD MOLESTING FALSE APOSTLE HERE], I command you, demon(s), to come out of this person!” And if the demon doesn’t come out, when you get out, because either there’s something more going on, or you’ve made a big mistake.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was some way I could contact this child and offer my home as an escape. Exit and support should be the focus here. This is clearly either an act of rebellion to free himself from this overtly racist cult or he needs professional psychiatric care. Either way, I wish I could provide him with a safe place. If he's reading this, please DM me on social media and I will help you escape. My last name is hidden but I'm a member of the largest family in the church so I'm sure you can figure it out. I'm here for you.
