Doug says Paul was referring to the Hebrew Scriptures when he spoke, because the Christian Scriptures (New Testament) had not been written yet. But then he turns around and says Paul teaches that we are to keep everything Scripture says in both the Old and New Testaments.
Is the Old Testament Obsolete?
Many Christians today believe that the Old Testament was for the Jews and the New Testament is for Christians. However, Jesus taught that we are to live “by every word of God” (Luke 4:4). The Apostle Paul wrote that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). Paul was primarily referring to the Old Testament when he wrote these words—because the New Testament did not yet exist. When Jesus and the Apostles quoted scriptures, they quoted from the Old Testament. Paul also told Christians in Corinth that the Old Testament examples were “written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come” (1 Corinthians 10:1–11). He was clearly stating that we need to learn from the instructions and the examples in both the Old and New Testaments—which is why Jesus emphasized that we must live by “every word of God.”
Have a profitable Sabbath,
Douglas S. Winnail

LCG members understand that Doug has no credibility on these matters. He chose to disobey Deuteronomy 24:1-4, preferring to commit what those verses call an "abomination" by remarrying the woman who after divorcing Doug chose to marry and then divorce another man. So much for "every word of God."
ReplyDeleteDoug will tell you that this passage doesn't apply to him... but that's exactly what other law-breakers say about other Old Testament passages that they find inconvenient. And as long as LCG's Weston supports Doug in this, he is consenting to what the Bible calls an abomination, so it is no wonder that LCG has stagnated and become filled with many other abominations.
Most difficult to have a profitable sabbath when the words preached and the lingering attachments to the fake apostle are most unprofitable
ReplyDeleteI find it mind-boggling that Weston lets Winnail blather on like this, as all it does is make LCG look stupider and more corrupt. Winnail must be holding some serious blackmail over Weston's head to be allowed to continue.
ReplyDeleteThey (LCG) pick and choose what is obsolete in the Old Testament. For instance:
ReplyDeleteJeremiah 33:17-18 For this is what the Lord says: ‘David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel, nor will the Levitical priests ever fail to have a man to stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.’” NIV
Now according to them throne is in Britain, but today they understand that Christ is the High Priest. Armstrongism allows them to pick and choose.
At least PCG is consistent, teaching that Gerald Flurry is the true King of Israel (and also That Prophet, and Christ in the flesh), LCG is just confused and self-contradictory.
DeleteYou do have a point 6:52.
Delete4.00 pm, I think what 6.52 is saying is that lies told repeatedly with confidence have an impact, while teaching contradictions do not. So LCG need to get their own set of nonsense to repeat with confidence.
DeleteDoug Winnail, usually in a self-righteous manner, stated that the apostle Paul: "...was clearly stating that we need to learn from the instructions and the examples in both the Old and New Testaments—which is why Jesus emphasized that we must live by “every word of God.”..."

Well, Doug, some wonder (e.g. Anon Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10:22:00 AM PST) why you don't live by "every word of God?" Doug, do you really expect us to believe that you live by every word of God?
Doug, what if we do not live by every word of God? Will we need some grace (Gal 1:6), perhaps? What say you?
Doug, why do you only quote a portion of what Jesus said/wrote and take His words out of context? Shouldn't we read all of Jesus' words. Where in the Old Testament can you find Jesus' words? Did Jesus' God, Jesus' Father, the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob, write those words in the Old Testament someplace? Why, Doug, are you only quoting a few of Jesus words and striving to get us to believe we, today, can fulfill those "written" words?
Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
Luke 4:4 "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
Doug, shouldn't you know by now that Jesus Christ was the only 100% human being to do what Jesus said there? You aren't doing it, and neither am I, so why do you burden people with those words of yours, especially when you aren't even living by every word of God?
Can people even have a profitable Sabbath: whatever that means?
Where, Doug, in the Old Testament can you find those words Jesus spoke?
You can't. Do you know why? It's because Jesus was speaking about what man SHALL do in the future after Jesus' God, Jesus' Father, makes His Spirit (Zech 4:6) available to guide/direct human beings, and Satan's spirit is not in control of one's life like it is today (e.g. Eph 2:2, James 4:5; Heb 12:9; 2 Tim 2:26, etc.). IOW, those words shall apply later when Satan and his angels will no longer reign as "gods" over this present evil world, like they do today...and did reign in the Old Testament days.
Wasn't that Israel's example to us/you? They could not and would not (Deut 29:4) keep God's law: live by every word of God.
Are you and those of your manmade organization, and the other hirelings of the former WCG, really living by "every word of God," or perhaps are y'all being guided by another spirit, to preach another gospel, and another Jesus (apostle Paul's words 2 Cor 11:4) to your followers?
Time will tell...
John
How does anybody know the scriptures did not include the Talumd. Or maybe the works of Josephus. Or of Plato?
