Yahoo also has another Group called OrginalWCG. These people have taken Armstrongism to the extreme. They allow no questioning of anything HWA or the church taught prior to 1986. If you dare question you will be kicked of the forum after they first rake you over the coals for daring to question God's apostle. The site is highly entertaining just for the sheer number of stupid comments that are posted. This quote below is one of them.
Bet you never knew Jesus made mistakes. Nor, that Herb was obviously so righteous he is right there next to Christ, co equal, co-god's.....
--------------------------------------------------------
But he grew into Godly character, to become like God, per the
instruction of Christ in the Scriptures. And please, let's not pick
on Mr. Armstrong for his mistakes. After all, Jesus Christ, as the
Logos, made mistakes in some of His judgements, as Moses pointed out
to Him. Whatever mistakes Christ, HWA or any other Godly people make
are INADVERTANT mistakes, since their INTENT is always to do what is
right and good, and so they are eminently forgivable.
No, I definitely remember that being taught (not that Herbie made mistakes, but Jesus did); that was part of the whole "Harmony of the Gospels, IIRC; but it had something to do with the parable of Melchizedek, not Moses, again IIRC. But the teaching that Jesus made mistakes, before he was baptized, at least, was common sermon material, especially around Passover.
ReplyDeleteYou don't remember that, NO2HWA?
I honestly never remember them saying at Pasadena that Jesus made mistakes. Maybe I was already tuning some things out at that point.
ReplyDeleteProbably why I have some sanity left after all those years!
Oh, this wasn't at Pasadena (I was in the far-flung reaches of the Ephraimite Commonwealth, growing up), this is how I remember it being taught from the pulpit.
