The vengeful god that Armstrongism worships is getting ready to spank the East Coast with a hurricane. We have all heard the stupid comments coming from preachers in the COG about natural disasters.
Here is what a hardliner HWA lover posted today:
The earthquake in Virginia was the same day as Hurricane Katrina hit on the Hebrew calendar. Now a very bad hurricane is heading up the coast.I believe we are being given very graphic warnings and America is in deep doodoo.
Apparently the sinful US did not learn it's lesson in New Orleans, so now will be spanked on the East coast. Of course COGers are excited about this. They think it further validates their beliefs. They WANT disasters and tragedies to happen. They want to see non-believers answer for their unbelief. It really ticks off Armstrongites who try and keep every bit of the law they can and still suffer while the pagans are thriving and living prosperous lives. Bitter angry people need a bitter angry god to act out their vengeance!
The problem with this perspective is that, as far as anyone can tell, the CoG preachers are even more wicked than the people they assume are going to be punished. This is one strange obsession. The CoGs have been a terribly bad job of being the Watchman. There is no credible witness warning the United States. You know, all those false prophecies and false prophets, the minister liars, the deception about church history, the fantasies of provably wrong doctrine and people getting drunk at the Feast of Tabernacles. Since the CoGs aren't being punished for their sins, just how should any average Joe citizen in the U.S. supposed to know that these utterly natural disasters are punishment from God? Well? How?
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, what did Jesus say about the tares? They are going to be left until the lake of fire. So the tares represented by the CoGs are going to be untouched.
Judgment, if any, awaits.
And the CoGs scoff at the judgment awaiting them... it's almost as if they are atheists....
I'm pretty sure RCM and the LCG down here in Charlotte will be taking up offerings and sending relief supplies to stricken humanity after this weekend in NY. No wait..that's Dave Pack...nooooo, Flurry? Hmmmm, I forget.

No, they'll be begging for offerings themselves after the hurricane passes through their own neck of the woods, even if they suffer no damage.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, not only are they not charitable towards outsiders, but also amongst themselves. You won't see UCG, PCG, RCG, or others taking up a collection for their fellow sabbatarians in LCG in the aftermath of this hissacaine.

If the economy crashes all these tares will feel the wrath of starvation. Just what will their god do for them?
ReplyDeleteSpankie, will he die from hunger?
Flurry, will he feel the pangs of hunger?
Will the membership give from their children's mouths to those who place themselves in the role of gatekeeper and prophet?
Just how will they the ministry suffer?
I've been asking why God didn't use that earthquake to finish off the Washington Monument completely, instead of leaving cracks at the top.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, COG ministers told me for years that monument was a "stench in God's nostrils" because of its shape.
The best explanation I've heard from other brethren is that God will tear it down eventually. OK -- but in a year with so much tumult and disaster (as any good COG minister would tell you it's already been), why would God wait?
The NYC hurricane of 1938 called the Long Island Express, had 180 mph winds, killed over 600 people and caused 7 billion dollars damage (todays dollars). Natural disasters have always occured and always will, on this globe. I admire the survivability of humans. Unfortunately we still have to put up with the stupid religious doomsayers and the like among us. The four tools of religion, fear, guilt, ignorance and superstition...are still here since the middle ages. When will we learn!
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny about your Armstrong-polarization is that ALMOST ALL 'Christian' faiths in the world would fit your repetitive rants.
ReplyDeleteThey all do what the WCG did, just different names, doctrines, circumstances, and minutia.
In fact, ALL of man's organizations have the same awful characteristics that you obsess over in this rag.
Just thought you might like to know to improve your very, very narrow scope a little bit....
Unless you just really like to hate HWA, well, then go right ahead. It really doesn't matter what you say if that is the case.

ReplyDeleteHere's an exception: After the Haiti earthquake, UCG-San Diego donated $1000 to LCG to use as they saw fit in service to the Haitian brethren.
This graphic is much closer to the truth:
