How To Rebuild Your Social Network After Leaving a Cult

  1. Leaving a cult is a shock. Luckily, there were a few with similar mindsets when I left, so I didn't feel totally alone. But, they soon scattered to the four winds.

I knew I needed new friends and since my wife decided to divorce me, I was thrown into the singles organizations world and found square dancing, soon joining a singles square dance club. I made a lot of good friends and met my second wife there.

The key, as with this young lady, is determining the kinds of things you enjoy and going out to find those who share similar interests and desires. It takes the emptiness away that afflicts those who leave a group that was the whole center of their life.
