Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

Only The Best For The Leaders

I had to laugh when I read the following news story this morning that someone sent me.  It immediately reminded me of the hypocrisy of Armstrongite church leaders that claim to be "Just stewards" of the tithes of Church members as they live lives of luxury.

Mr./Evangelist XYZ is God's TRUE Apostle/leader/Pastor General who needs to interact with world leaders at their own level.  Therefore we MUST have the best. Best Westerns and Marriott's are NOT for us!  We must have our luxury suites, drive the best cars, wear the best tailored suits, etc.

While the people suffer, the leaders revel.

As we can see from the following article, hypocrisy knows no boundaries:

Occupy Wall Street Leader Reportedly Pitches Golden Tent at 5-Star Hotel

Hell no, we won’t go — unless we get goose down pillows.

A key Occupy Wall Street leader and another protester who leads a double life as a businessman ditched fetid tents and church basements for rooms at a luxurious hotel that promises guests can “unleash [their] inner Gordon Gekko,” The Post has learned.

The $700-per-night W Hotel Downtown last week hosted both Peter Dutro, one of a select few OWS members on the powerful finance committee, and Brad Spitzer, a California-based analyst who not only secretly took part in protests during a week-long business trip but offered shelter to protesters in his swanky platinum-card room.

“Tents are not for me,” he confessed, when confronted in the sleek black lobby of the Washington Street hotel where sources described him as a “repeat” guest.

Spitzer, 24, an associate at financial-services giant Deloitte, which netted $29 billion in revenue last year, admitted he joined the protest at Zuccotti Park several times.

  1. NO2hwa - Your first paragraph of this article reminded me of a discussion 5 or 6 years ago between a very small group of us folks and a man who traveled with the "apostle" in the early 70's on his trips "to interact with world leaders." He shared a story that fits your comments.

On the return trip of one of several visits to the middle east, a non-scheduled stop was made in London. Several days were spent there - at one of the finest luxury suite of course. It seems that the "apostle" went shopping and returned with a $20,000 crystal wine cooler for his personal use. He was so happy about his purchase. The man relating this story said to the "apostle" something to the effect that the money he spent was a sacrifice by the brethern and sent in to help "do the work". He did not think it was right for the money to be spent on such expensive personal items.

The response was "The brethern need to learn to sacrifice."

    How blind we were.

  2. Thankfully, not all COG ministers are this way.

I can name you a spinoff group pastor who recently rode a Greyhound BUS cross-country back to his home, after helping a daughter move to another state. They rode in her car one way; then he took the bus the other way.

He explained the obvious - it saved money over catching a flight.

  3. Isn't it funny? Yes, this does illustrate where such archetypical attitudes of HWA came from, and sorry folks, it was not from God. Jesus was able to operate from a totally blue collar base of existence, astounding the "officials" of His day with His wisdom.

This desire for a status based ministry places trust on the physical, rather than on God, the message, and whether He wants that particular message to get out.

Both this leader, and the leaders of most of the ACOGs, once again, earn an "F".

  4. And out of this prodigal lavish spending by The End Time Apostle False Prophet, just how many leaders were converted? Where are those 8 Japanese "sons" we were going to be dumped for? Did a single leader begin keeping the Sabbath as a result of these expensive trips we all paid for?

Did a single despot stop oppressing his people as a result of the visit by the "Prime Minister"?

It's all insanity and the money went down a rat hole.
