Remember the foolish myth we were taught where we would all be given planets to rule over in the millennium where we would whip the non-elect into shape?
I don't think the average Armstrongite ever stops to think how incredibly stupid that belief is.
Just take a look at this video to see how vast the universe is.
Just further proof on how ridiculous so much of the belief system in Armstrongism is.
And that one universe may just be one grape on one cluster in one row of one vinyard in one place.

The fact is that our generation is the First to get to face the size of our Universe. It has not been all that long since Hubble dared to think our galaxy was not the only one. It has been even less time since we have come to realize there are BILLIONs of galaxies and we can never know what lies past our 13.5 Billion year boundry.
Add to that parallel universes, multiverses or the fact that our universe is a hologram and ...whew....now that's a sermon!

It is impossible for my mind to completely grasp what is already known. I stand in absolute awe of it all. Basically, what we now know of the true extent of the universe has only come to be understood during my lifetime. That's not very long by cosmic standards.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of sad that I won't be around for the multitude of monumental discoveries yet to be made. Makes me kind of hope that maybe there could be something like reincarnation so I could come back and take part in what lies ahead. That's a much better fantasy than floating off to a mythical heaven and being bored for eternity by harp music.
Like George Burns, I love life and I'd really like to do it again. It's been fun a good part of the time. I savor some mighty good memories in the midst of the heart aches and disappointments.
