Here are just a few of the reasons Bob Thiel claims he is a prophet of a god. These are all his words not mine. It is clear there are some delusional thought processes going on here.
- On January 6, 2007, after hearing about a reference to a Catholic prophecy about a former Roman Catholic rising up and causing the Church of Rome problems at the end times, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel, “That is you.” During this particular visit to Charlotte, Dr. Meredith discussed both the evangelical and other fruits of Bob Thiel’s writings.
- In August 2008, Bob Thiel told Davy Crockett, that if LCG was not going to deal with certain matters that he felt needed to be corrected (and that Dr. Meredith had seemingly agreed to correct), that part of its top leadership (likely Dr. Meredith) was about to be hit with something bad.
- In September 2008, Dr. Meredith had his mini-stroke. Davy Crockett seemed to feel that this could have fulfilled Bob Thiel’s warning.
- On October 3, 2008, Dr. Meredith (who was unaware of that August 2008 warning), told Bob Thiel, “God may consider you to be a prophet.” This came from the Presiding Evangelist of the Living Church of God.
Did you know that old Catholic prophecies pointed to directly to Bob Thiel?
- In January 2009, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel over the telephone that if he (Dr. Meredith) was raised to the office of apostle, he was considering ordaining Bob Thiel as a prophet.
- On February 4, 2009, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel over the telephone, “You have an in-depth understanding {of prophetic matters}—you could be a prophet.”
Bob's dreams are on par with Joseph and Isaiah.
- Shortly afterwards that fast, perhaps after gaining more wisdom and prophetic gifts, during the Spring of 2009, Bob Thiel acquired a difficult to attain book that he did not know existed previously (not available in regular bookstores or Amazon) on Byzantine (Greek Orthodox) Catholic prophecy. While he had been aware that certain old Roman Catholic prophecies seemed to possibly point to him personally, one or more ancient Byzantine ones, combined with certain biblical ones, seemed to be too specific to ignore. And they got him to look more into related biblical prophecies on the subject.
Did you know that Bob Thiel and Doug Winnail will be the Two Witnesses?
- Around this time Bob Thiel had an apparently prophetic dream perhaps reminiscent of Joseph's dreams (Genesis 37:5-11) and Isaiah's vision to be sent (Isaiah 6:1-8), that somewhat like Peter's vision (Acts 10:17) he did not immediately understand, but like Peter (Acts 11:4-17), it seemingly became clearer once circumstances in the time since presented themselves and began to confirm it.
Bob's work is an "additional" witnesses tot he church. thanks to Rod Meredith and Richard Ames. We owe all of this to you.....
- At the Feast of Tabernacles in Glenwood Springs in a private meeting related to literature corrections that Bob Thiel requested, Bob Thiel and Dr. Winnail also discussed the idea of Bob Thiel being a prophet and one of the two witnesses (Dr. Winnail mentioned he had felt that he once thought that he, Doug Winnail, would be one of the two witnesses). Dr. Winnail stated that he wanted to see additional confirmation related to Bob Thiel and that this should be clearer over time. Dr. Winnail also commented that he felt his evangelical fruits were comparable to the evangelical fruits of Bob Thiel.
Bob gets a double does of the holy spirit:
- At another meeting with the evangelists on December 16, 2011, Richard Ames prayed, with “Amen” concurrence from Dr. Meredith and Dr. D. Winnail, that Bob Thiel would continue to do the work that God has had him do, etc. He also specifically called Bob Thiel's writings/work “an additional witness.” Hence, there was a concurrence with the evangelical and prophetic fruits of that work. The Charlotte evangelists again promised to get to certain literature corrections that Bob Thiel had brought up repeatedly over the years.
- On Sunday 12/18/11 night at a family wedding reception, without discussing the matter, Bob Thiel stared at Gaylyn Bonjour for a few moments, without saying anything and then asked, “Do you have any idea of what you may have accidently done?” Gaylyn Bonjour said, “Yes, I think so.”
- The following Monday morning was Bob Thiel's first opportunity to speak with Gaylyn Bonjour privately for more details about the anointing. Bob Thiel asked him if it was his practice to pray that God grant a double-portion of His Spirit to people that he anoints, he said, no he had never done that for an individual before. Bob Thiel asked him if he had any idea of what he may have been inadvertently led by God to do, and he said yes. Gaylyn Bonjour also said that the only “double-portion” he recalled from the Bible was when Elisha became the replacement prophet and ecclesiastical leader for Elijah (2 Kings 2:9)—Bob Thiel told him then that this was his recollection as well. Notice it was Gaylyn Bonjour, and not Bob Thiel, who first stated this as a conclusion.

2012: Newly minted prophet commences bashing Obama -
ReplyDeleteNot exactly what Rod, Doug and Dick anticipated.
The mystically God haunted aspect of these men is, all scoffing aside, creepy. The day may come where it proves dangerous for any so naive as to suspend their critical thinking and buy into this foolishness.
ReplyDeleteOccam's Razor basically states that the simplest explanation of anything is most likely the more correct explanation.
"I am God's chosen Prophet...."
or
"I have an ego problem, chemical imbalances, need to be special or personality issues...."
You choose. And for those that might fall for it, chose carefully
All scoffing aside, the God Haunted and mystically special persona these men have taken on is creepy.
ReplyDeleteOccam's Razor basically states that the most simple and obvious answer is usually the more correct one.
"I am God's chosen Prophet and I can pre-dict the future as God inspires me to.... I have the right to start a Church and take tithes..."
or
"I am mentally disturbed. I have an ego and self absorption problem and perhaps a serious personality disorder."
Chose carefully if you are inclined to the suspension of critical thinking, "proving all things," as you were taught or should know as common sense or have any sense of caution when it comes to letting others do your homework for you.
PS While RCM may have prophesied Bob would cause problems for the RCC, he seems to have failed to see Bob would cause problems for LCG.
ReplyDeleteBut I think those here could have seen that coming a mile off.
and.....maybe it is just me, but just as Dave Pack writes about himself as "Mr. David Pack," "Mr Pack," etc , I find it disturbing that Thiel uses the same approach. Speaking of himself as if someone else was speaking of him.
ReplyDeletePsychologically I am sure it is easier to speak of oneself as if another was speaking about you than "me" "me" "I" "I' but it is a strange way to view oneself.
It seems a detachment that gives wiggle room from something... Or maybe there are actually two of these guys inside themselves.
Let's see two inside of one makes 3! Holy Trinity Batman!
For the sake of symmetry, we're assuming that Roderick Meredith will sign the papers and file tomorrow to change the Living Church of God to:
ReplyDeleteDiscontinued Church of God Overseer and other losers trying to hold together a dying soulless cult corporation.
On January 6, 2007, after hearing about a reference to a Catholic prophecy about a former Roman Catholic rising up and causing the Church of Rome problems at the end times, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel, “That is you.”
ReplyDeleteI'd be pretty sure this Catholic "Prophecy" would have been meaningless without the "That is you" part.
"In August 2008, Bob Thiel told Davy Crockett, that if LCG was not going to deal with certain matters that he felt needed to be corrected (and that Dr. Meredith had seemingly agreed to correct), that part of its top leadership (likely Dr. Meredith) was about to be hit with something bad."
CLassic "Weinland" Foregoing the fact that RCM is 80, has diabetes and getting near the end of his life
"In September 2008, Dr. Meredith had his mini-stroke. Davy Crockett seemed to feel that this could have fulfilled Bob Thiel’s warning."
God only punishes with maxi strokes so this is irrelevant :)
"On October 3, 2008, Dr. Meredith (who was unaware of that August 2008 warning), told Bob Thiel, “God may consider you to be a prophet.” This came from the Presiding Evangelist of the Living Church of God."
Who doesn't have a good track record of getting such things correct as far as we can tell. I imagine RCM told Dave Pack wonderful things and launched him on his career.
"In January 2009, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel over the telephone that if he (Dr. Meredith) was raised to the office of apostle, he was considering ordaining Bob Thiel as a prophet."
And if not....all bets are off which is how God works evidently.
"On February 4, 2009, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel over the telephone, “You have an in-depth understanding {of prophetic matters}—you could be a prophet.”
Or you could be a fruit loop, time will tell.
"Around this time Bob Thiel had an apparently prophetic dream... it seemingly became clearer once circumstances in the time since presented themselves and began to confirm it."
ReplyDeleteYeah..dreams are like that. Have one and then look around for what it means and behold!.....you find it. Of course it could just be a dream bubbling up from a theologically soaked brain trying to put itself in somekind of order but that doesn't fit the plan or the need.
"(Dr. Winnail mentioned he had felt that he once thought that he, Doug Winnail, would be one of the two witnesses"
Now that's disturbing. I'd not have suspected that kind of thinking from Doug. Must be the results of not getting out of the inner sanctum enough to stay real and balanced
"Gaylyn Bonjour also said that the only “double-portion” he recalled from the Bible was when Elisha became the replacement prophet and ecclesiastical leader for Elijah (2 Kings 2:9)—Bob Thiel told him then that this was his recollection as well. Notice it was Gaylyn Bonjour, and not Bob Thiel, who first stated this as a conclusion."
Notice if this proves to be bullshit "I" was not the one who first noticed it. This saga gets more creepy as it goes. Bob may be the first prophet wanna-be in the history of the church who got a double portion of BS added to his already self absorbed thinking.
"Lord...save me from your followers."
.
With another tithe-hungry prophet having arisen on the scene in the form of "Dr" Thiel, Apostle James Malm is perhaps sensing the potential competition for the bucks.
ReplyDeleteHis anxiety is evident as this morning he posted the following plea for cash on his website:
"This work is not supported by hundreds of tithing members of some corporate entity. Finances are very low at this time and your assistance is needed to help in continuing this effort."
Who needs professional entertainment anymore, the zany world of the COG prophets and apostles are more than enough to keep folks laughing!
I'm not certain that anyone could have Dr. Bob committed to a mental institution, but, darn it all, if he were in one, he might find it difficult to get them to let him leave.
ReplyDeleteBob notes:
ReplyDelete"Bob Thiel told Davy Crockett, that if LCG was not going to deal with certain matters that he felt needed to be corrected...."
There's your problem right there. Bob Thiel needed to talk to The Lone Ranger/Tonto and not Davy Crockett to get the results he needed...
all of this "apostle/prophet" talk shows that those guys don't have a clue.....it's really sad, and people look at that and think The Church is a bunch of kooks when in reality, we have nothing to do with them.
ReplyDeleteAnd the two witnesses are two individual human beings (preachers, no less) because the olive tree is symbolic of an individual person...no, wait, it's not, is it?
ReplyDeleteThe olive tree is the symbol for Israel (not the fig tree as one might suppose) and in this case, these two witnesses are called the two olive trees. What? Two Israel's? Yep, according to Paul there are two Israel's - and two Jerusalem's as well.
But, no exposition of the Apocalypse from me today. Suffice to say that the two witnesses of Rev. 11 are not a couple of ACOG preachers - or any other actual human preacher - they are metaphorical symbols.
Anonymous wrote: "...people look at that and think the Church is a bunch of kooks when in reality, we have nothing to do with them."
ReplyDeleteHow can you make such a ridiculous statement? Sorry, Anon, but it's painfully obvious that you ALL are deeply rooted in the very same delusional ideology that spawns and fuels the likes of Apostle James, Prophet Bob, Weinerdude, etc. I know a number of folks across many different COG splinter groups and they're pretty much all the same when it comes to their foundational worldview, and how they manifest it via personal actions in the real world. The problem is you all seem rather loony to the rest of us, and then even loonier when you try to act as if some of you are the REAL servants of God while your compatriots are "sons of the devil." You all have come out of the same stinking kettle of rotten fish!
all of this "apostle/prophet" talk shows that those guys don't have a clue.....it's really sad, and people look at that and think The Church is a bunch of kooks when in reality, we have nothing to do with them
ReplyDeleteBravo! An admittance that HWA didn't have a clue!
Sadly, I'm pretty sure the writer meant that HWA's apostleship was OK and was somehow different from Thiel's and Weinland's and Pack's and Flurry's, etc.
Well yes, Herbert Armstrong could look like the model of sanity next to his descendants until you go back and see what he said about Z-Rays and Unstoppable Bullets. Maybe he had seen too many black and white Flash Gordon movies.
ReplyDeleteBottom line: They're all nuts! Crazy! Insane!
Like some have said, the Cult of Herbert Armstrong micocults should be a psychological study in abnormal psychology.
It's terrible that over time, people begin to treat it as if it has one shred of viability at all.
Now where did I put my Z-Ray Gun with the Unstoppable Bullets?
Prophet Thiel may be on his way to Mormonism, or at least some further Mormonizing of ACOG beliefs. Notice near the bottom of the following page:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cogwriter.com/duties.htm
Hence, the Bible and early writings show that the original Church taught that its leaders were to lead the flock, dress normally, be married, and support true Christianity. And that is what Jesus, Himself, did.
Either Prophet Thiel is a very sloppy writer, or he is teaching that Jesus was married, just like the Mormons teach.
Thiel promotes catholic prophecy but nothing is his own.
ReplyDeleteHe thereby validates the Catholic church.
The false prophets are multiplying in the church now at quite a great rate
"Either Prophet Thiel is a very sloppy writer, or he is teaching that Jesus was married, just like the Mormons teach."
ReplyDeleteOne does not have to be Mormon to think Jesus was married. Many see that as one of realities written out of the story just as the Old Testament EL had his consort Asherah written out of the tale
Rod Meredith never said in so many words that the younger Retired Prof had the potential to be an apostle or prophet. However, he did give him a D in a class where the young man was almost sure he had achieved his goal to earn an F. When the youth had the flu at a Feast a few years earlier, Dr. Meredith had anointed him with oil and prayed that he would recover and reach his full potential.
ReplyDeleteThese events suggest Dr. Meredith's opinion of the younger man was higher than his own. Now that the younger man has matured into Retired Prof, perhaps Retired Prof should start collecting tithes. Retired Prof could also expound scripture according to his understanding, developed through diligent study of internet publications. Not exactly the same as the Eugene, OR, public library, but just as valid. Of course tithe-collecting would be Retired Prof's prime motive.
Whaddaya think? Can this idea develop into a new splinter? Maybe the Church of Eternal God Absent God, C-EGAD.
Retired Prof:
ReplyDeleteDennis Diehl thinks you are truly and Apostle and worthy of leadership. Mr. Diehl has been told often of your power and abilities and Mr. Diehl himself was often told by RCM "the sky is the limit for you." Notice that RCM said this and not Dennis Diehl.
Dennis Diehl will begin all the appropriate paper work for Retired Prof if directed. Dennis Diehl also will purchase the appropriate office supplies immediately (The sun has not yet gone down here.)
Retired Proff is not doing this on his own but rather has the blessings of the leadership of LCG....and the sun still has not gone down here.
Dr. Meredith had anointed him with oil and prayed that he would recover and reach his full potential.
ReplyDeleteThis is Thiel's full potential?
Pathetic.
Again, LCG should be renamed:
Discontinued Church of God Overseer and other losers trying to hold together a dying soulless cult corporation
Or DCoG-Cult for short (of course, some folks may mistake the 'D' for 'Dysfunctional' but that works too).
Just "connect the docs!"
ReplyDeleteComment was made that: "...At the Feast of Tabernacles in Glenwood Springs in a private meeting related to literature corrections that Bob Thiel requested, Bob Thiel and Dr. Winnail also discussed the idea of Bob Thiel being a prophet and one of the two witnesses (Dr. Winnail mentioned he had felt that he once thought that he, Doug Winnail, would be one of the two witnesses)..."
Really! Just "Connect the docs!"
These 2 docs are debating over what kind of a doc they are: a prophet doc? A witness doc?
Both men come out of an organization that, based upon its fruits/works, God never had anything to do with...nothing to do with Global or any spin-offs! How do we know? Bible tells us so!
Matthew 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Neither of these docs have proven that God has ever planted them or their "living/continuing" group.
They are a couple of hireling docs "duking it out" to determine just "who is the greatest?"
Remember Christ's disciples playing that game...before they became converted!
If one were Satan, how would you run the "living" group/organization/sole or whatever? Sounds like a fish!
Would you control the mind of some little elderly widow, member of the living group, living by herself or would you strive to control some "evangelist" or some doc...two docs, that have a lot more say, control, influence over others of the living group to sway them here and there in that ditch for the blind leading the blind?
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
As I wrote....connect the docs...
That's what I think Satan did. He did connect the docs and voila! Bonjour! And one fellow even thinks God is such a respecter or persons that God would bless him with a double portion of God's Spirit???????
Well, why not a double portion on both docs??????????
Could the Winnail/Thiel be the 2 witnesses? Of course, not! But they are the 2 docs...if nonthing else! It all sounds so silly...
John
Do you think the two witnesses could be women? Wasn't there some old fat guy who thought he was one of the two witnesses and the other was his wife. Can't remember if he is the one who went to jail.... just can't keep my apostles and prophets and witnesses straight (not in a sexual sense of course but properly sorted in my mind). By the way I did get speech training at Gods college and was a frequent participant in womens clubs.
ReplyDeleteJohn, you raving fundamentalists never disappoint - it must be wonderful to be able to personally know the mind of God so well, and with such confidence.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how it's often the most ignorant among us that always seem to have the highest degree of certainty.
The two witnesses will never be composed of those that think they are headed for that office.
ReplyDeleteThey will not be composed of those that have achieved high degrees such as PHDs etc.
Most likely, if they are human, they will be average Joes' that will simply repeat what Yahweh tells them to say.
The job that they will do will bring hardship and suffering to them.
So we have "prophets" RCM and BT vying with each other for "prophet" status?!
ReplyDeleteLooking at Deuteronomy 18:9-22 we learn that only 2 tests are recognized to verify if a man (or woman) is divinely inspired as a prophet or not.
1) Whether they speak in the name of the God of Israel or false gods.
2) Whether a future event foretold by the person happens as s/he says it would.
Nothing's said about miracles or signs in this passage and thus such shouldn't be pointed to as "proof" of their divine commission.
In fact, as long as a "prophet" wasn't convicted of being a lying prophet s/he was to be tolerated and go unpunished even though s/he might threaten calamity or destruction to the State. Thus, whoever prophesied in the name of the God of Israel was to be borne with until an unfulfilled prediction proved him/her to be an imposter. Look at Jeremiah 26 as an example. Jeremiah was willing to die for his testimony knowing he'd done nothing wrong, but only spoke what God instructed him to say. But, whoever took it upon him/herself to make claims of being a prophet and prophesied in the name of foreign gods (e.g. alien channelers comes to mind as a modern example) or utters a prediction, which doesn't happen exactly as they say it would was to be punished by death!
Thus, it's far from just and right, in the sight of God Almighty, to assume this office without a true, divine commission and supernatural inspiration.
To conclude, by their own words Armstrong, Meredith, Flurry, Pack, Ritenbaugh, Thiel and everyone else who follows in their crooked footsteps have proven themselves to be lying prophets. By making just 1(!) wrong prediction (and they've made plenty!) proves they have divined lies and should be ashamed of themselves and divested of all credibility! They should count themselves fortunate they're not living in ancient Israel. The very law they claim to uphold accusing others of breaking stands ready to convict they themselves!
Doesn't it say in the Bible that god can speak through the mouth of an ass. I am sure God will have no difficulty choosing his vessel when and if the time comes. Of course the prediction is that they die and their bodies are left to rot in public. Count me out.
ReplyDeleteLargely overlooked in the discussions so far are the implications of what in reality is a Bob Thiel power grab.
ReplyDeleteWhat if the LCG poobahs had announced that BT was a prophet? It would have immediately put El Presiding Evangelista Meredith in second place in church power rankings, since he would have been a mere evangelist. You recall the scripture that gives the power rankings, and it goes Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist. As BT The Prophet, BT would have stood in spiritual prominence above the Presiding Deacon, even though the Presiding Deacon would have still held the purse strings.
In the COG world it's pretty heady stuff to have yourself talked about as a possible Prophet by Men Who Knew the Man (Harmstrong). Of course, it's a discussion that's never going to end - I mean, really, there's only one way for a prophet to show his bona fides and either BT did that or not.
This ambiguous power sharing possibility was not lost on Meredith, as BT's chronology shows, the only way BT was going to become a Prophet was if the Presiding Deacon got a raise himself to Presiding Apostle, or some such title. Hard to believe that men like Ames and Winnail would also allow ol' Bobbo to slide right into the ranks of power over them. Perhaps they were thinking of being named Jr. Apostles, or Lt. Apostles, or Disciple Apostles - some tag that would mean that in any meeting ol' Bobbo would be the one getting the coffee for the others.
For there is one consistent truth about the COG leaders, and BT's story holds it out once again. They would rather be wrong and in power than right and out of power.
i cannot even believe serious conversations could even go on between two people in the church without one of them raising eyebrows about the one thinking he was really special. wouldnt it be funny if Bob finds out later that all of the commentary was made to him in utter sarcasm, really, these are serious conversations, really?
ReplyDeleteVonhowizter -
ReplyDeleteYou hit it right on! Meredith would NEVER allow anyone to "rank" above him.
Meredith, Ames, Winail and others encouraged Thiel in his belief about being a prophet. When they realized Thiel no longer fit into their plans they do what they always do - disfellowship the member.
Bet they will miss his tithes.
They will miss his website because it did help in promoting LCG.
How about Bob and RCM each build an altar....soak them good with water . Have 450 elders and friends from each side, 4oo female followers in the backgroud and each have a go at getting their version of God to light them up? Worked in the past.
ReplyDeletedennis
the loser has to bring watermelon to the church picnic......
ReplyDeleteThere's somebody named Gaylyn Bonjour?
ReplyDeleteHow about Bob and RCM each build an altar....soak them good with water . Have 450 elders and friends from each side, 4oo female followers in the background and each have a go at getting their version of God to light them up?
ReplyDeleteThe loser and the loser's supporters would be killed off.
This is a sudden death playoff, after all: It's called population control -- it's natural selection to clean out the very shallow end of the gene pool.
Which is why people end up in the Armstrongist religion in the first place: Sequester all the crazies in one group (or set of groups) so they can be managed until their insanity can be dealt with properly -- the Universe's plan to keep balance.
(I hope the sarcasm isn't too subtle.)
When I consider the craziness currently on full public view as inspired by WCG-style religion and it's endless offshoots, I can't help but think of this observation from the French philosopher Voltaire:
ReplyDelete“Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.”
I fear it's just a matter of time until something extremely serious happens in one or more of these groups, making the handiwork of Terry Ratzmann or Adam Lanza look relatively mild by comparison.
What's all this talk about a "Double Portion"? What does it really mean?
ReplyDeleteELISHA'S LARGE REQUEST
"And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me" (2 Kings 2:9).
What did Elisha mean by this request? I do not interpret his request to mean that he should have twice as much of the faith and spiritual force as characterized his master. What he intended was to ask that he might be considered as Elijah's eldest son, THE HEIR to his spirit, the SUCCESSOR to his work. There is a passage in the law of Moses which clearly proves that "the double portion" {169} was the right of the firstborn and heir (Deuteronomy 21:17). This the prophet sought, and this he certainly obtained.
It was a noble request. He was evidently called to succeed to Elijah's work...."
F.B.Meyer
I imagine Bob thinks he meant to get twice as much spirit as anyone else, but evidently, in reality he was asking to be RCM's First Born and entitled to lead LCG, whether he knew it or not.
Can you imagine saying, "The reason I am in charge is that I have twice the spirit as all others." That ranks right up there with "I have never committed a major sin in my life...."
If there was any doubt as to whether Prophet Thiel is reading this blog, now we know for sure. In the day since the above post was made, Prophet Thiel has edited his website to remove the idea that Jesus was married. Considering the hundreds (thousands?) of pages on his site, surely it isn't coincidence that he had left that error in place for years and only yesterday decided to fix it.
I guess the Prophet doesn't just get his ideas from heathen Mayans and Catholics; he is influenced by ex-WCG apostates, too!
Boy, you couldn't make this stuff up! It just continues to be mind-boggling.
ReplyDeleteThis two-witness thing has really gotten old after about the past 50 years! Who didn't grow up in the WCG without being told by their parents that one and one's brother would probably be the two witnesses? Will the real two witnesses please stand up?
Also, I wouldn't believe a single thing Thiel had to say about historical events from the past after watching Jared Olar make mincemeat of him on the old Xcg site several years back. Jared corrected, and Bob defended all of the errors in that horribly bogus booklet "A True History of the True Church", and even with the proof right there in front of his face, Thiel continued believing the Armstrongism, not respected historic documents. Where have we ever seen this type of wilfull ignorance before. Could it have anything to do with British Israelism?
I said about a year ago (and I am NOT a prophet) that we'd probably see many more people in the forefront ot this doomed religious movement get desparate and say and do weirder and weirder things as they try to deal with the total bogussness of it. Seems like it's happening!
BB
All the points Bob Thiel is making comes across to me as something rather different.
ReplyDeleteReality is that the hierarchy of LCG realised his site had as good a following as the official LCG site, and they wanted to keep him sweet, and gain from anyone being drawn to LCG via Bob’s website.
The points he makes seem to all follow the pattern of ‘humour him, but don’t promise him anything.’ This is my take the real meaning of these comments:-
• On January 6, 2007…. Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel, “That is you.”
• Translation:- Bob forgot the question mark “That is you?”
• In September 2008, Dr. Meredith had his mini-stroke. Davy Crockett seemed to feel that this could have fulfilled Bob Thiel’s warning.
• Translation:- “Yes, Bob, who knows, it could have been”
• On October 3, 2008, Dr. Meredith (who was unaware of that August 2008 warning), told Bob Thiel, “God may consider you to be a prophet.”
• Translation:- “Yes, Bob, God MAY consider you to be a prophet – who knows!”.
• In January 2009, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel… that if he (Dr. Meredith) was raised to the office of apostle, he was considering ordaining Bob Thiel as a prophet.
• Translation:-”Look Bob, I am the Evangelist – now should I be raised to the office of apostle, at that point I could consider if there is any possibility of ordaining you a prophet” (Because I will still be above you, and I only said consider the possibility!).
• On February 4, 2009, Dr. Meredith told Bob Thiel over the telephone, “You have an in-depth understanding {of prophetic matters}—you could be a prophet.”
• Translation:- “I know you keep asking if you are a prophet Bob, you could be – maybe you are maybe you are not, who knows?” (Just as long as you keep pushing LCG on your site.)
• Spring of 2009, BobThiel acquired a difficult to attain book that he did not know existed previously (not available in regular bookstores or Amazon) ….While he had been aware that certain old Roman Catholic prophecies seemed to possibly point to him personally, one or more ancient Byzantine ones, combined with certain biblical ones, seemed to be too specific to ignore.
• Translation:- No translation needed, as its Bob’s own conjecture. It does give great credence to the Roman Catholic Church, who apparently has its own specific prophecies that refer to no other that Dr Bob Thiel. (And it’s always these ‘difficult to obtain’ books isn’t it – interesting definition of difficult ‘not available on Amazon!’).
• Around this time Bob Thiel had an apparently prophetic dream…..
• Translation:- Hmmm – again, Bob’s own conjecture, and no mention what the LCG view was here either.
• At the Feast of Tabernacles in Glenwood Springs ….Bob Thiel and Dr. Winnail also discussed the idea of Bob Thiel being a prophet and one of the two witnesses (Dr. Winnail mentioned he had felt that he once thought that he, Doug Winnail, would be one of the two witnesses).
• Translation:- “Cool it Bob, everyone of us ‘top dogs’ consider if they might be one of the witnesses – even me! It goes with the job!
• Winnail also commented that he felt his evangelical fruits were comparable to the evangelical fruits of Bob Thiel.
• Translation:- “I is as good as you is, Bob!”
• At another meeting with the evangelists on December 16, 2011, Richard Ames prayed, with “Amen” concurrence from Dr. Meredith and Dr. D. Winnail, that Bob Thiel would continue to do the work that God has had him do, etc.

Yes and the LCG execs get to collect the BIG SALARIES they pay themselves

Even if that's more imagined than real, that's got to stick in Bob's craw.
Of course, there's lots more imagined than real stuff sticking in Bob's brain.
At least Bob and his bromantic interest 'the Baron' have something in common- they've both lied in trying to advance their educational credentials.
Thiel has to be one of the biggest fools the church has ever produced.
