  1. Wild! We didn't have showers or hot water in Orr in '65! Never knew this facility even existed. Hope the Maranatha Baptists get to have it! It's probably a quality gym facility.

  2. I doubt if Maranatha wants this. The rest of the property is already divided into subdivisions. It will be torn down and homes put there. The gym was built during the Tkach era-I think.

  3. Is this being sold by Tkach's GCI?

  4. Huh, I remember that gym, mostly because the guy who oversaw the place really loved square dancing and thought it important that everyone else should, too. They did have some fun activities there, but it was an odd experience, all the marching, chanting, and conformity. It was a strange place.

  5. The gym existed before Tkach era. It was already constructed when I was at SEP in 1983.

  8. The gym was built in late 1976 / early 1977. I was there 1975-77 and helped clear the land where the gym stands ...there was a one week basketball clinic held in the gym between the first and second sessions of 1977with GTA & a bunch of high ranking folks out of Pasadena and the special guest was Kareem Abdul Jabar . I visited the camp in 2016 and there are still several old buildings including the caretakers house , dorms 4b and 4g , the chalet , the camp directors cottage, the guesthouse by the gym and a couple of faculty guest houses ... as well as the office and gym. The piece of property that the gym stands on is overgrown and the gym is a mess ... there is standing water on the floor and mould everywhere... the floor has mercury in it , which is why the gym was never torn down ... the cost to dispose of the gym floor is astronomical... which is why 7 acres on Pelican Lake is going for under 200K ...when I was there I 2016 the asking price at the time was 170K

  9. It was beautiful there anyone who got to go was lucky life changing beloved experience. Mr Armstrong was Gods Apostle so you need to watch what you are saying although you’ll be answering to God for your snide remarks on judgement day. It was a blessing to be able to go here It was one of my favorite experiences in my life and I have traveled around the world. He spent the money to have the teens enjoy a wonderful month to learn and explore a beautiful campus he did an excellent job do not undermine him ever!

  11. What a load of crap! Mr Tkach did not throw the church off track, it was already off the rail from decades of abuse, mentally and spiritually. Also, this includes pedophile ministers, rapists and stalkers. Armstrongism was sick and rotten to the core.
Financial mismanagement was off the charts. False prophets who were liars. Legalistic heresy and denial of the works of Christ in the New Covenant.

Armstrongism was and still is filthy to its core.
