Living Church of God: Are members struggling with hardening hearts

The poor LCG member just can never get it right. Apparently some LCG members are "hardening their hearts" and are no longer teachable.  In other words, if you dare question anything you have a bad attitude and have hardened your heart against the "truth" relayed to church members.  Why can't church leaders ever write anything positive for their member?  Perhaps talk about Jesus...though I know that is a big stretch.  When he is talked  it is by making church member feel guilty about crucifying him.

Are You Teachable? The Scriptures reveal that an important quality of character that God is looking for in Christians and future leaders in His Kingdom is teachability—the desire and willingness to listen and learn. Abraham was teachable and responsive to God’s instructions (Genesis 12:1-4). Moses was a very capable leader, yet he was also humble and teachable (Numbers 12:3). David’s attitude comes through in Psalm 119:33 when he writes “Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes.” Solomon recognized his human inadequacies when he asked God for wisdom and an “understanding heart,” so that he could learn to rule God’s people wisely (1 Kings 3:9). When Jesus said the meek and the poor in spirit are blessed, He was emphasizing their teachability and their willingness to learn and grow (Matthew 5:3-5). The Scriptures also reveal that when we harden our hearts to God’s instruction, we will reap serious consequences (Proverbs 28:14). We have been called to reign with Jesus Christ in the coming Kingdom of God—and being teachable is one of the keys to attaining that reward. Let’s strive to develop this most important quality.
Have a profitable Sabbath,

  2. Word games. Manipulativeness. Control.

"I am from God. If you don't listen to me, that indicates that your heart is hardening, and you are unteachable. You DO want to reign in the Kingdom, don't you???"

If you ever grow past the glass ceiling they impose, of being cowed and submissive, It seems they want you to believe that you have lost a priceless opportunity, one that is available exclusively through them.

It would be one thing if there were any sort of validation. Without it, all they say is purely imaginary.

  3. Interesting that the three people mentioned as "teachable" were leaders, not ordinary folk. Are LCG leaders setting the same example?

  4. Why doesn't Douglas and other church leaders practise what they preach? They lord it over church members using verbal violence and all manner of threats. They rob members of the adulthood, then complain of what little humanity members manage to hold back. They want everything, so they attack their victims with accusations of being unteachable.

All the splinter ministers are wolves who burn with insatiable lust, coveting peoples souls. May God avenge their victims, and may they rot in hell.
Have a nice Sabbath as well.

Ironic that this exemplifies one of the major problems with LCG leadership and they are chastising the BRETHREN for it.

They are such hypocrites and so completely blind to their own faults!

Poor Doug. Unless he's writing this to his peers at headquarters (in an effort to subtly correct their behavior), he really is clueless.

  6. The ministers believe that the law only applies to others, and not to them. So there's never a need for them to repent. They are perfect. It's only the peasant members that have problems that need to be repented of.

  7. No, the members are not struggling with hardened hearts.

Their minds are like cement, mixed up and set -- a very long time ago.

  8. The truth of the matter is that very few ministers really believe what they preach. They have become hirelings such like the chief sheppard whom Yahweh called a fool. He and they will rise up one day and will receive the greatest shock of their lives.

They are not going to be allowed into the kingdom. Only those whose hearts have really repented and have the interests of the flock under their care. To recognize these compare their life styles to yours. Are they living high off the hog, so to speak? If they are, then they like Moses, will only be allowed to see the promised land from a distance, but will not be allowed in.

Finally the jig will be up. All their uppity behavior will disappear with their mouths hanging open just before they start wailing. A very sorry sight, but they made their choice. Live like kings now and reap the dust later.

Fear NOT little flock, it is Yahweh's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom, as for your taskmasters, they were warned NOT to treat what is MINE, as your slaves.

  12. Doug Whinnail concludes saying: "...We have been called to reign with Jesus Christ in the coming Kingdom of God—and being teachable is one of the keys to attaining that reward. Let’s strive to develop this most important quality..."

Doug loves to get the people focused on SELF, self doing this/that to qualify, to earn, to get "that reward" to reign in a coming Mickey Mouse Millennium (MMM) with his Jesus reigning on earth.

Doug speaks like a babe, a babe that does still not realize anything about Jesus Christ being at His Father's right hand for almost 2,000 years now, and will be there for over another 1,000 years. Doug is ignorant of Satan's doings after that vile evil thing is released from the bottomless pit and again deceives the entire world...and smashes Jerusalem again. Where will Doug Winnail and those who qualified by meeting Doug's prerequisites to get "that reward" be then? Why didn't they stop Satan's evil works then, after that MMM (Revelation 20)?

Doug wants the people to focus on self...what the "great self" can do, when Jesus Christ, as a human being, said of Himself He could do nothing! And Doug expects MORE from the people?

God "...made his wonderful works to be remembered..." Psalm 111:4

Sure, babe Doug can go ahead and cite the names of Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, with all of their "desire and willingness to listen and learn," their "being teachable and responsive to God"...and then shove that on to his audience, like maybe his people ought to be doing the same.

When will babe Doug realize that Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon were all part of God's wonderful works, that we should remember...not remember the individuals for what it looks like they did something, but remember the works of the God that did something?

Why does Doug continue to browbeat others...as though God's Spirit were NOT dwelling within them? What a shame!

God will take care of the workmanship of His own hands and does not need Doug's whining to the people...as though those people needed to do something to impress God, gain some reward!

God already knows no flesh will glory in His presence.....or does Doug think the people need to impress Doug and so then glory in Doug's presence?

Why did Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon do all of those things cited above by Doug? It is for the same reason that those of God's Church will do those things?

"For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." Phil 2:13

    Done deal!

    To be con’t

  13. Continuing…

Guess what was happening when Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon were NOT doing all of those fabulous things mentioned by Doug?

God didn't give then individuals the "to will" and "to do!" After all, they, like us did sin; did they not? Sin had to be in their lives! Why? That other spirit that was in them was working! Huh?

"Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?" James 4:5

Yes, Doug, the same spirit that works within you...and don't kid yourself. Ooh, Doug sin? God forbid.......or not?

"He that committeth sin is of the devil..." I John 3:8

Yes, Doug, join the club! Happens to me/us too!

Why Doug, will you be striving to get all of that leaven out of your home this week? Why?

And no matter how much you and your wife strive to get it all out, your home still will not be leaven free! Do you know why? What's the lesson? It isn't what you learned in the WCG, and if you still teach the same today in your living group, then it means you are still a babe and have not learned that there was more to understand about that deleavening process.

You said: "The Scriptures reveal that an important quality of character that God is looking for in Christians and future leaders in His Kingdom is teachability" Where did you read that?

When God wants that teachability He will provide the "to do" and the "to will" and it becomes a done deal, because He is doing that as a part of His wonderful works (Phil 1:6; Romans 8:29-30, etc).

Why not focus the people's attention on God, Jesus Christ and the True Plan of Salvation and how God is going to work it all out in lieu of what you think people need to do to help some apparently helpless and hopeless God that continues to search and look as though He needed anything from you/us?

God isn't stupid! God isn't blind! God knows what makes us "tick," and it's not a clock, but...

    Time will tell...

    John
