How Will We Remember Bob Thiel and James Malm When They Die?

Yesterday I posted a brief story about the death of William Dankenbring, a former Worldwide Church of God member, writer, and minister.  I deliberately did not make any comments about his track record of public pronouncements, predictions or esoteric beliefs.  That should not be the point of announcing the death of people who have historical ties to the Church of God movement, and of whom many of us know.

Not so with Almost arrested and jailed Bob Thiel and Chief Pharisaical Zealot James Malm.  Both of these false prophets let the spittle fly right off the bat with righteous indignation.

Zealot Malm writes:

29 Aug:  Self proclaimed COG prophet William Dankenbring  died today from congestive heart failure and renal failure, he had been living in Omak, Washington.
False prophet William Dankenbring had numerous prophetic failures and many obviously false doctrines, which were as unscriptural and as utterly fantastic as Dave Pack’s or Ron Weinland’s.   He left the WCG to form Triumph Ministries, establishing himself as a sacred names enthusiast.   Most COG folks saw through him but he did have a small following.

Elijah and Second Witless Witness Bob Thiel  was even more brutal:

William Dankenbring was a prolific, though often inaccurate, writer. He used to write for the old Radio and Worldwide Church of God until he left and went out on his own.
Although I heard about him originally in the 1970s, my first encounter with William Dankenbring was about 25 year ago. I wrote to him then objecting to some of his writings and asking to be taken off of his mailing list–a mailing list I had never asked to be on. Well, he was not pleased and wrote a tirade against that which he published. All my encounters with him over the years were negative.
William Dankenbring made many false predictions over the years that I have denounced. He was always in error and time proved that.
But perhaps the most egregious negative experience I had with him was when I informed him that a written source he claimed proved at 15th, and not 14th of Nisan, Passover did not say what he claimed it did. He refused to even look at the actual proof when I offered it.
He, like many, had an opinion, and did not want to believe facts that did not support that opinion.
Here we have two certified liars and false prophets, who currently preach unscriptural baloney, proclaiming another fellow COG leader a false prophet and a liar.  Talk about total hypocrisy!  Thiel and Malm have both lied and made false prophecies and predictions.  They both teach heretical crap that has no relevance to a new covenant Christian.  Both continue to bow at the altar of Moses while ignoring and diminishing that so inconvenient dude, Jesus.  Whoring themselves out to the law apparently is not an issue for them.  Nor, is looking inward at their own warped sense of reasoning.

How people respond to the death of these two will be interesting to see.  It remains to be seen if they will continue to lie and set wrong dates, and then back peddle and lie again, as they already have been doing, and as Dave Pack and Gerald Flurry do. I can guarantee though that when Gerald Flurry and Dave Pack die there will be no mercy leveled at their death announcements.  Perverse men like these do not deserve the honor.

  1. I for one will take great pleasure knowing that Flurry, Pack, Thiel or Malm are no longer around to destroy members lives with their pharisaical shit.

  2. I set Righteous Bib straight on his misuse of " line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little" as not about how to study the bible nor what in context it means, and he ignored me. Kettle/black

  3. Almost arrested Thiel expects everyone to listen to him and do what he says, yet the ball never bounces back his way. His mind is incapable of ever thinking he might be wrong. The lies coming from him are only going to get more and more bizarre every day that goes by.

  4. If David C Quack died tonight choking in his own vomit after having his testicles burned to a crisp from being struck by a bolt of lightening which bashed through the windows of the third floor of his wadsworth temple as he stood there plotting what kind of outrageous bull crap he would sell next... then I would know that there is really a God who intervenes in human affairs on planet earth. But since there's not, Dave will continue his fraud until he dies, whenever (soon I hope). I will visit his grave site from time to time.

  5. Bob Thiel, and James Malm will be remembered about as much as Benjamin Rea, C. Paul Meredith, Colin Adair, Ernest Martin or any other number of COG cast of characters from the past are remembered... LITTLE TO NONE!

Alas , the same fate faces us all. The book of Ecclesiastes does indeed offer great insight into the "vanity of life".

  6. Since I am younger than Malm and Thiel, I will most certainly outlive them, Neither one will die in Petra or be a second witness. I will visit their graves and lay a nice slab of bacon on each one's tombstone. We all know how much Bob likes his pork.

  7. Ignore them. Forget them. These men are only "somebody" in their own minds.

  8. When public figures die, their public record is brought up. I don't believe that inappropriate. It goes with the territory. Nice things should be said at their funerals to comfort the family and relatives, but that's it.

The only qualification is that their private sins (eg womanising) shouldn't be mentioned until a respectful amount of time has passed.

  9. I sure hope their grave sites are made public so people can go and poo on them.

It is evil to say nice things about evil people. Just say the truth.

When Satan goes into the lake of fire is God going to say, "Well, he sure had a lot of zeal!" No he'll say, "Good riddance". The same principle applies to Satan's human helpers, whether Satan is literal or not.

  11. Anonymous August 30 at 9:17 PM, I decline to poo on them.

That would be an inconvenience to the graveyard groundskeepers. I intend to be far more respectful of both cemetery staff and the dearly departed. I am going to sprinkle fine bourbon whiskey on their graves. In their condition they won't mind if I run it through my kidneys first.

I have yet to attend a funeral where people publicly announced that the deceased is a bastard. And I hope I never do. As I said, as a expression of kindness to the relatives, nice thing are said. Since you missed it, David said (2 Samuel 1.17) very nice things about a murderous king Saul when he found out about his death.
People like Hitler and Satan are in a different category.

  13. When I was a believer in Armstrongism I had heard of William Dankenbring but I only read his writings sparsely. Consequently it seemed to appropriate to speak politely to respect him and those in mourning.

But that Malm and Thiel would choose to criticize him on the occasion of his passing away shows how desperate they are to compete against one they view as a rival in order to gain more tithe paying recruits for their own followings.

  16. Malm has confessed on his site that he's ill and doesn't have long to live. I recall him saying that he's been given about a year to live, and that was at least two years ago.
Bob will probably outlive most posters on this blog.

“Bill remained faithful to God after being kicked out of world wide and was given much much more than HWA and his minions . I did not agree with Bill on many things , but for over 30'years He preached on the accurate timing of Passover and all the appointed times according to the Word of God and not the word of man , something the world wide church NEVER understood due to their arrogance and Nicolaitan doctrine . Thank you Bill for being a Lamp and a voice in this wilderness of sin. Peace and Love to Bill's Family .”

You are carelessly assuming that HWA was wrong about the timing of Passover and the appointed times, and that WFD was right. Perhaps it was the other way around. Maybe HWA was right and WFD was wrong.

Numerous people disagreed with the various different teachings of HWA, and many people loved it whenever someone would leave the WCG and start some rebellious splinter group. Very interestingly, though, none of the splinter groups from the past ever seem to have amounted to anything. They are just very slightly larger forms of the “Independent” individuals who each think that God is personally leading them into the truth. In actual practice, it always looks more like a different demon is leading each one of them off in a different direction with a different pet theory that they read into the Bible.

Even the current “large” (relatively speaking) splinter groups that got their members from the WCG after the Great JWT Apostasy of January 1995 are having trouble getting anywhere. The doctrinal changes that RCM made to try to put his own stamp on the church just seem ridiculous. The doctrinal changes that GRF and DCP made are simply satanic. Why praise false prophets, dead or alive?
