Living Church of God members knew that once Gerald Weston had full power, his legalistic rules would start to reign supreme. He has had a track record of being abusive by controlling as many aspects of members lives as he could.
Besides shutting down Living University's accreditation process and effectively cutting down all of its course work at the end of this semester, Weston has pulled a Herbert Armstrong and is trying to put the wayward Living Church of God back on track.
Weston has also shut down public access to Living Church of God sermons, which previously had been available for the public to listen to. So much for that "witnessing!" Now you have to have he password that is specially set for your congregation in order to listen to LCG sermons.
Perhaps he is attempting to control what "pop star" LCG ministers disseminate to the broader church rather than keeping inter own church area. LCG's mother church had a huge underground network who shared tapes of popular ministers that garnered v huge followings. Usually this revealed around prophecy and other end time malarky. The same is happening today with certain men who are more popular than Weston or most of the traveling minister/evangelists from Charlotte. Plus, it allows Weston and Charlotte to monitor all sermons and delete them before they are spread throughout the church. Several men have been preaching some rather crazy things and Charlotte is trying to squelch that as fast as possible

Internally, the effectiveness of this is wholly dependent on the honor system, and how seriously members take it. Frankly, members who disregard tithing are most likely not going to take these new rules very seriously. For those (safely) on the outside looking in, the edict is consistent with how they have historically treated regular sabbath services and the general public. It's always been a members only proposition.
ReplyDeleteWeston must have made some sort of risk-benefit analysis, and determined that freedom of information would be more harmful to LCG than it is beneficial to those who are given free access. That runs counter to the beliefs and practices of legitimate churches, who are open and anxious for their messages to be available. Looks like LCG is taking a sharp turn towards cultishness. What are they either ashamed of or trying to protect? To learn more, Google "Armstrongism". Heh heh heh.

Though the information here is often accurate, this report is not.
ReplyDeleteMost live LCG webcasts have been behind a password for years, unless they were big public events for which Meredith wanted wide access. LCG's recorded sermons remain online just as they have always been:

I think within the next decade the ACOG cults will eventually be dead and gone. Membership within these satanic groups is dropping like flies.
ReplyDeleteAnon 4:28, I hope you are right. The ACOG cults are so very destructive.
DeleteInternal use only, with sermons restricted on a don't need to know basis. Sounds like the tape-burning episodes started in PCG some years ago.
ReplyDeleteOne reason may be to curtail critique by guys like us or former insiders like Bob Thiel.
Finally, perhaps Gerald Weston is providing some "good news" by telling us this:
ReplyDelete"Terms of Use: These audio or video broadcasts are made available for the private viewing of Living Church of God* congregants as a service for those who are “shut-ins” or otherwise unable to attend personally..."
The public doesn't need anymore milk and junk food from the Living group. Why should the public continue to be pestered with a Mickey Mouse Millennium where Jesus Christ returns "very soon" to earth to reign on earth with those of the Living group......only to have Satan exit the pit after 1,000 years (Rev 20:7) and again deceive the entire world, all 4 quarters of the earth (Rev 20:8). What a failure that Living group would have turned out to be! Why didn't they do anything to prevent that failed kingdom from happening??????
What else can one expect if the living group's leadership received another spirit and is thus following another Jesus and another gospel?
Oh, and then there are those "10 kings" soon to come into existence!
Just more junk food, b/c Living sense of prophetic timing is way out of sync with the Bible's timing of events.
And on and on we could go, but enuf for now.
Time will tell...
John
Gerald wants to dry up our supply of inspiration here on Banned. If you can't stop stupid, at least keep it in the family.
ReplyDeleteOut of morbid curiosity, I recently listened to a online UCG sermon. It was the same old scriptures (God has given different gifts to church members) with the same old interpretation, with no new slant. A characteristic of food is that it cannot be eaten twice. Meaning that being given the same material doesn't even qualify for spiritual milk.
ReplyDeleteI can't help wondering if these churches are trying to hide to outsiders just how spiritually dead they are.

The wording of the legal notice is different . B4 it said nothing about shut-ins or being able 2 make a copy 4 yourself, not that u can cuz all streams 2 date run in a copy protected player that starts muted which sucks if ur 2 blind 2 click unmute. Btw I'm talking about webcast.lcg.org not lcg.org or YouTube
ReplyDelete"Most live LCG webcasts have been behind a password for years, unless they were big public events for which Meredith wanted wide access. LCG's recorded sermons remain online just as they have always been..."
ReplyDeleteYes, that is correct. LCG has been passwording their live, local sermons for years. For two main reasons -
1. They don't want people staying at home without a very good reason (so that they will go to the trouble to ask a minister for the password, and the minister can monitor how many times they are not turning up). That's why Charlotte's password changes weekly - to make it far more difficult to be continuously absent and still get access to the sermons.
2. The sermons that are released on the website are HEAVILY edited to get rid of all the potential problematic things that slip out of the mouths of the LCG ministry. There is no way that LCG HQs would allow easy access to unedited sermons by their "so united and of one-mind" ministry as they know how off-message and maverick a lot of them are.
This is Gerald Weston
ReplyDeleteToo many people have been getting most of the benefits of going to church by viewing these online videos. These thieving cheapskates refuse to pay the fair price for these benefits, which is tithing/offerings and being bossed around by the Nazi ministers.
So pay up or no password for you.

I think you can relax about not understanding John completely. I have developed the habit of skimming his comments. When I used to try delving deep into them, I discovered that my quality of life was diminished--entirely opposite from the result of savoring comments by Connie Schmidt, Dennis Diehl, Byker Bob, and a number of other contributors.
The reason lies in the old storytellers' dictum, "All stories are true. A few of them are also factual." John's problem is the one shared by many true believers everywhere: he assumes the book of Revelation to not only contain important truths, but to accurately lay out facts about the actual history of the future. We can safely ignore anyone who believes such a thing.
Censorship is the spirit of our times. All the major news papers are doing it, and so is Google, Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and the US government now going after foreign news media who don't give the news the way the USA wants is said. And the state of Texas is now cutting off funding to doctors who speak out against Israel's crimes against humanity. This came out on the Zero Hedge site I heard.
ReplyDeletethis blog also engages in censorship...i would provide at least one example, but they will merely censor me...
DeletePsh. I doubt anyone cares enough about the assorted COGs to go censoring them en masse.
ReplyDelete9:09 PM
ReplyDeleteAre you are the one posting racist or vulgar comments? If you are, then you bet I will delete them. If you don't like that then go comment on Bob Thiel or James Malm's blogs and see what happens. Oh, wait...Thiel won't let you comment and Malm will delete you too. Better yet, go comment on UCG, PCG, LCG, COGWA and all the other blogs and facebook pages and see how fast they will delete you. Go cry elsewhere.
How effective are we in shedding the various sicknesses in which we were indoctrinated by the Armstrongs? Some have really worked on this problem in various ways in their post-Armstrong years, but others, while shedding the most obvious after-effects, have become more deeply involved in racism, conspiracy theories, predatory behavior, paranoia, elitism, sexism, and other thought patterns which marginalize and isolate us as human beings.
ReplyDeleteThere is a natural propensity for humans in recovery to switch addictions. It does nothing to restore functionality as a human being when individuals transition from British Israelism to the idolization of Hitler. Switching from Simon Magus to explaining our contemporary conditions based on the Bilderbergs or Trilateral Commission or Illuminati or the Masons does not assist us in our functionality as contributing members of society. It just makes us bizarre and marginal.
Considering those of us who realize this, perhaps it explains for those who don't why we don't buy into much of the stuff some of you have come to embrace, and for which you seek our acceptance or validation. The fact is, we trouble-shoot you just as we do the collective circus of Armstrongism. To the Hitler dude who thinks he's being censored, I'd cite John Lennon on people quoting Chairman Mao not making it with anyone anyhow. That's not censorship. It's rejection and repudiation. Go away! You smell. You are typhoid Annie, and we don't wish to be exposed to your sickness or become infected.
Plain enough?
BB
You would think that the church would welcome access to their message (Matt 28). The fact that they have denied access should be celebrated. The fewer people exposed to them, the better. Have any of you visited the campuses of the PCG or RCG? Were you welcomed by a "Come unto me all who are heaven laden" attitude or "get the heck out of here before we call security!?
ReplyDeleteNO2HWA @ 9:56 pm for the win!! ;)
ReplyDeleteDear "John"...
ReplyDeletethe ten kings you speak of are the ten zones on the planet that have long been established by the Club of Rome....Google it.
The seven heads of Rev 13 are the G7.
The USA/NATO/Israel alliance is the King of the North...
The Muslim nations are the King of the South...
The Russia/China block (BRICS) are the Kings of the East....
You can watch it on CNN or read Dr Paul Craig Robert's articles for verification.
there, does that help...???
The ACOG leaders' wives should deny them pubic access. Maybe that would result in a final solutuon to Armstrongism.

True Bread said: "...The seven heads of Rev 13 are the G7....:
ReplyDeleteReally????????????????
The seven heads of Rev 13 are the seven heads, the 7 kings, of Rev 17!
Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having SEVEN HEADS and ten horns.
Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the SEVEN HEADS and ten horns.
8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The SEVEN HEADS are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
10 And there are SEVEN KINGS: five are fallen, and ONE IS, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
Who is "the ONE IS" during the time period that John was inspired to write this revelation?
It is the 6th Head, which had to be the Roman Empire during John's day and age,but 5 are fallen:
6th Head - Rome.............that "ONE IS," but 5 are fallen:
5th Head - Greco-Macedonia
4th Head - Media-Persia
3rd Head - Babylon
2nd Head - Assyria
1st Head - Egypt
and that 7th head?
7th Head - Gog & Magog, which comes AFTER the 1,000 years.......the OTHER NOT YET COME
If this is true, then the 1,000 year reign of Jesus Christ ruling on earth is a fable and is the reason I refer to it as a Micky Mouse Millennium.
Jesus Christ will be at the Father's right hand until all enemies are put down, which includes the enemy death, and that enemy Satan, which exits the pit when the 1,000 years is expired.
Oh, yes, time will tell.......
