This is a new film coming out this month about life in the Jehovah's Witnesses cult and what happens when a member strays and questions the faith. There are many parallels to Armstrongism. The JW's also believed the end times were happening in 1975, they practice public disfellowshipment like the COG does, they practice shunning like the COG does, and much more.
It is an interesting side note that Herbert Armstrong had many JW booklets in his basement walk-in safe that were marked and highlighted. The claim that HWA amalgamated his beliefs from the SDA's, JW's and Mormons, carry way more weight than many want to believe.
It is spelled with a C! Cut the globalist crap.
ReplyDeleteDo the JW's have a mass murderer to their credit?
ReplyDeleteJames, there is this:

What a wonderful group the JW's are. Killing one dozen members at a time. A goal that the acog's will have to compete with.
ReplyDeleteThere's a under the table link between the JWs and Herbs church. Some instances. Was Christ crucified on a tree or cross? A JW leader decreed a tree, and Herb followed, though history points to a cross. The JWs changed their blood transfusion doctrine after many members and children died. Herbs church informerly eased up on seeking medical treatment. Both churches are tyrannical and treat members like children. I get the impression that the JWs are worse, though. They have discouraged members from pursuing a college education. Many of its members on their dissident sites mourn this mistake. Both churches refused to refund member donations after many sold their homes and gave the money to the church, just prior to 1975. Both churches minimize Christ, the JWs going as far as claiming that Christ is a created angel. Both deny that Christ leads members directly, replacing this with leadership by human leaders. The JWs are open in this regard, teaching that God leads their church exclusively through their 7 member governing body. The scripture they quote to support this, says no such thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's not uncommon for JWs to commit suicide after shunning, since this involves separation from their mate and children. Both re write their history, hiding failed prophesys. The JWs have their own bible translation. Herbs church doesn't but instead interprets the bible for its members. Seeing the bible through ones own eyes is discouraged.
The JWs seem to be watering down their doctrines in recent times, paralleling Herbs church fragmenting. There are many similarities.
The JWs are about to get hit nationwide with child molestation charges from "Satan" and hell.
ReplyDeleteI once picked up from the ground I think a bulletin flyer track thing advertising the JW's... it was quite disturbing.
ReplyDeleteThe picture was of a casually dressed guy just walking into a JW fellowship by himself. As he looked into the JW hall, he saw a man dressed in a full suit carrying a briefcase, and his wife dressed in a skirt and blouse, and another lady dressed in a dress or skirt in the background. A couple well dressed kids were in the background. I think I have it somewhere. I'll scan it and send it to Gary if he wants it. But it was certainly telling.
It provoked a very familiar sense - a sense that the newcomer is not yet at the standards of those inside. A feeling I knew all too well from my decades in WCG. The message was "You're entering a different world and your life's about to change."
Child molestation charges are old hat to the JWs. Some critics believe that it's because of court settlement payouts that they sold their headquarters and tried raising funds with their 'Christ is returning in 2000' campaign.

It seems more likely that HWA heard many theories in his lifetime but ultimately went with what the Bible taught. HWA wrote that he had studied the writings of the SDA church but that he had never attended an SDA church service. HWA was never a member of the SDA church.
Like the SDAs, HWA believed in the Sabbath commandment. HWA also believed in the commandment against idolatry, unlike the SDAs who like to put idolatrous Catholic hippie pictures in so many of their magazines, booklets, books, and paintings.
HWA taught the biblical laws about clean and unclean animals. HWA did not go along with the SDA vegetarian (and now vegan) doctrine of demons that the SDA church passes off as part of its so-called “health message.”
HWA taught the biblical annual festivals. The SDAs do not, and many SDAs end up observing traditions like Christmas without really knowing what they are doing.
HWA taught that there was not some sort of great controversy between God and Satan, with God desperately but unsuccessfully trying to save the world now in this age but with Satan winning the battle. Thus HWA actually refuted the SDA false prophetess Ellen G. White and her book called The Great Controversy.
and you won't find any COG folks going door to door soliciting new members...

ReplyDeleteSo HWA.."ultimately went with what the bible taught." If that was the case, this blog and similar would probably not exist. Yes, the outside of the theological cup was clean. Inside, it was filthy. You conveniently ignore the church culture, which is what impacted members the most. Ministers behaved like brutal dictators, robbing members of their natural rights. The mention of rights was and still is, taboo in these churches. Under HWA, members were treated like literal children. In one of his minister letters (reprinted in one of David Packs booklets) he tells the ministers that "they can be kings on thrones right now." He knew this meant unleashing scum ministers onto the members. HWAs favourite teaching was the unbiblical " give way" which is the game of the unjust steward in righteous clothing. As well as being a monstrous anti concept (attacking cause and effect), it implicly acknowledged self interest and profit, another taboo in his church.
HWA also hid that Christ directly leads every Christian dispite his incessant "government is everythg" mantra. Never once did a article appear pointing out that following Christs lead is part of members baptismal vow, or how to recognise that lead. Christ was pushed to one side.
HWA was a murderous Pharisee when it came to what really mattered. He won't be in the kingdom.
I can never get how people that call themselves true Christians can ignore all the abuses, injustices that took place, go on to idolize Armstrong and the church like nothing else matters. Shouldn't Christians hate evil, pride, arrogance, injustices and so on? Shouldn't they care about lost sheep? What is wrong with some of these People? Oh I remember I was bewitched as well until I snapped out of it.

Some people did not like the way HWA used radio, television, and magazines to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God. They wanted to do what they called “personal evangelism.” Now they have their opportunity to try it, but it is not working out well. In fact, all the little goofballs who want to preach their own ideas and try to attract a following just seem to be adding to the confusion of this Laodicea era.

Of course. That is why they should beware of immoral rebels like GTA, false prophets like Flurry, Pack, Weinland, Thiel, etc., and nuts like Malm.
HWA was like the Pharisees. They cared about doctrine, rules, the work, but people didn't matter. His often stated 'beware of the evil of self esteem' said it all. That is, life is cheap.
