They Couldn't Have Done a Better Job Displaying Their Own Theology

  1. I did pick up a New King James at a half price book store that had AC notes in it - it also had a reference to "Mr Suckling", so it is definitely an AC student from the last Big Sandy AC era.
The smart people will at least trade it in.

  2. When I stopped attending the WCG in 1994, my bible & all of the church literature looked like that when I threw it all in the trash.

  3. “‘He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony’” (John 3:31–32).

  5. Well, I still need my old bible so I can refer to it when I attack it. If I didn't have that need for it, I'd burn it rather than contribute to somebody else's ignorance and superstition.

  6. Are we hearing God or just another man?
"This is pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father . . . to keep oneself unstained by the world" (James 1:27).
“‘He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony’” (John 3:31–32).

  7. The legalism of it all! As a WCG kid learning to play a musical instrument, I found it absolutely stifling. No innovations allowed, no improvisation. Just learning approved songs, and not being able to personalize them at all. Artistc types had an especially difficult time growing up in Armstrongism.

Instead of coming across as a Christian Borg drone with your 'cut and paste' of bible verses, how about your own opinion, in your own words.
If Seven-of-nine became a individual, so can you.

  9. The very sad aspect of the ACOG cults of doom, is the fact that they were never real christians and the concept of the true church is completely lost to those people. If Yahweh does exist, I'm sure he doesn't even know those people.

  10. Anonymous 5:11 AM said, "If Yahweh does exist, I'm sure he doesn't even know those people".

MY COMMENT - That is laughable as if YOU would know who God knows and doesn't know. You are no different than those you accuse in the ACOGS. They say the same thing.

  11. In looking at this posted article I was puzzeled at the purpose of desired purpose. It appeared to mean that trashing a book was trashing its content. I guess that the person posting it believes that abuse and misuse of scriptures trashes the scriptures. My personal opinion is that people trashing the scriptures are trashing themselves not the scriptures. I believe we should "Be filled with the knowledge of [God's] will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord" (Col. 1:9-10) and what Paul prayed that we would "walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; [and be] strengthened with all power . . . for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father" (Col. 1:10-12).

  12. That picture was a Worldwide Church of God picture that they posted in the Envoy. They are the ones who have distinctly trashed the Bible and all Christians outside the Armstrongism.

    My comment
I do not remember that picture in anything I read, but if it was I suspect the words with it did not state it that way. I see this happening all the time in today's curture. The truth is distorted to fit what they believe.

  14. If anyone wants to get a better understanding of the New Testament I recmend William Barclay's Daily Study Bible Series. It is published in 17 volumes and gives a lot of information about translations and historical back ground of the NT writings.

  15. I'd recommend "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism" by Spong and "Forged" and "Misquoting Jesus" by Ehrman.
