Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

Please buy my book with your tithe money, "...in that way the books will cost nothing personally"

It is 2019 and these are desperate times for many splinter group Church of God leaders.  With so many of them floundering by the roadside with ineffectual ministries, they are always seeking new ways to con followers into giving them money to fund their exculsive "work".

The latest is from our favorite Church of God Chief Pharisee, official zealot and chief bastardizer of the law, James Malm.

For some time now he has done nothing but park his pharisacial butt at the kitchen table cranking out articles and booklets in order to stir up the zeal that he sees missing in all the COG's.  Never has the church had such a zealot that has turned the law into such a burden that it drags people down into a miserable existence. The few that follow him know they can never measure up to all of his lofty demands.

Because his followers come and go their money does too.  Never one to pass up a free handout due to his unwillingness to work, he has resorted to a novel new way to raise money from gullible followers by claiming if they buy his books with "tithe" money they will  never miss it.  It will be almost like it will be a gift from God to them.
I urge all those who purchase our books to use their tithe to do so, in that way the books will cost nothing personally  because they are coming out of funds earmarked for this work anyway.
This technique of providing the published works directly from Lulu printers saves this work a considerable amount in processing, mailing and maintaining an inventory.  Please do purchase from our official printer Lulu, as other sources will charge considerably more.

  1. If you're tithing to Mr. Malm, I suppose buying his book would be the same thing.

But who will be first to leave a comment on his blog along the lines of "Buy the truth, and sell it not?"

  2. The only thing I do with James Malm's writings is print them off and put on the bottom of the birdcage.

  3. COG lurkers should also remember that it’s OK to use first tithe to help support dissident (accountability) websites, and to help fund the retirement of ex-ministers.

  4. Tithing is not a new covenant command or expectation. Any present-day COG is fraudulently collecting money if they claim tithing is commanded. James Malm does not deserve to be tithed to as he is a heretical minister preaching lies.

  5. In the Didache it’s noted if anyone who puts themselves forward as a minister of Christ requests money then they should be soundly rejected as a liar and false minister e.g. “If he ask for money, he is a false prophet.” If only all who were suckered in by Armstrong’s fear tactics and false prophecies or still tithe to “ministers” under the false impression they’re doing God service were aware of this they’d probably think twice.

Incidentally I recall HWA published his booklet proposing the Wednesday crucifixion and quoted from the Didache (if memory serves) and yet what he quoted it as support for did no such thing since it still supported a Friday crucifixion. It’s ironic he referred to it as support for his false teaching and yet it referred rightly to him indirectly in his endless demand for money as a “false prophet.”

So you can buy the truth but from whom if they are to sell it not? It's a mystery!

  7. I have found some of Malms articles on technical matters educational. Some of his material is from a fresh perspective, something I don't find in other splinters.

  8. Buy the truth but sell it not.

This simply means the truth is valuable, and therefore worth money, so do what you have to do to obtain it. Sell it not means i) give it away freely, and ii) don't part with it, i.e. never give it up!

  9. COG lurkers should also remember ...

And you think they are taking instructions from the likes of you?

  10. That’s just ONE of the reasons why I don’t go to church.

  11. This reminds me of a story that I heard about one of Oral Robert's money raising schemes. On television he would offer booklets for FREE. The booklets were written by him (or at least had his name on the front) and they were printed by a separate organization. Oral Roberts Ministries would have to purchase the books from the publisher for Oral to give them away. So the books were free to the viewer, but Oral Roberts made a profit on the sale of the books to the ministry. The more books he gave away as gifts, the more money he made. Give and Get. I wonder if HWA had thought of this scheme? I bet Stanley Rader gave it some thought. He was able to make money at every turn.

    1. Of course. When you are dealing with a persistent childish anonymous troll who insists on coming here with nothing intelligent to contribute or discuss, you’ve got to get down on his level.

I wonder if this dude only deals in catcalls in his real life. I tend to doubt it, or there would be frequent trips to the hospital.

  13. What you see is just the tip of the iceberg of the other stuff he sends that I don't let through. I let an occasional one through though just for the fun of it knowing he will get his ass handed to him.

  14. Malm and others should adopt a "multi level marketing plan" sort of like Amway.

You get a percentage of "the take" from all of the downline you recruit for church, and the ones they recruit too! Top recrutiters with big downlines , get to be the ministers, and lower levels as well, such as elder, deacon etc.

Church services would evolve into a type of sales rally. Church groups could also do things like "home parties" (ala tupperware) and sell books and materials as well (with the host/hostess) making a percentage of the whole.

Got to give everyone a "piece of skin in the game" if you expect motivation!
