Bronze Age Noah or 21st Century NOAA? Is Weather More Than Just Weather?

Dr Bob Thiel , as always....

The BBC reported the following:

Australia bushfires: Record number of emergencies in New South Wales

Australian authorities say an “unprecedented” number of emergency-level bushfires are threatening the state of New South Wales (NSW).
More than 80 blazes were raging across the state on Friday.
Gusty winds and up to 35C heat have exacerbated the fires, many of which are in drought-affected areas.

"Fires should get people to consider. But will people in Australia or the other Anglo-descended areas heed?
As regular readers of this page are aware, I have repeatedly warned of weather problems coming. Back in 2009, in my book, 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect,..."

"...And weather-problems are one tool that God uses to urge people to repent (cf. Haggai 2:17; Amos 4:7-12). But most will not. Nor will most Christians as they should (cf. Revelation 3:14-18; see also The Laodicean Church Era).

Most will ignore weather changes and simply believe that weather changes all the time and the changes do not have to do with God or disobeying His laws.

Yet, the Bible shows that weird, severe, and odd weather patterns are part of the warning messages that God gives.

Are you paying attention to those messages?"

On the other hand it is pretty obvious in the human history of god making and according to the modern day NOAA (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration),  and not the Bronze Age Noah...

What do you think?
Bronze Age or 21st Century?

  1. Simple question:

If a tornado were to develop SW of Thiel's house, and demolish it, who would be to blame, in Thiel's eyes?

    God or Satan?

If a tornado were to develop SW of PCG's cult compound, and destroy it, who would be to blame, in PCG's eyes? God, or Satan?

Now let's say that the same storm system spawned a tornado and it destroyed a Catholic Church? Who's to blame? God, or Satan? What if a tornado destroyed a mosque? Or a synagogue? Who's to blame now?

But let's move beyond tornadoes. What about floods? What about lightning? Wildfires? Heat? Cold? Any one of these elements can cause fatalities if one is in the wrong place at the wrong time. What about raging blizzards and snowstorms?

The truth of the matter is that there are patterns in the atmosphere much greater than any of these small-scale incidents that can happen meteorologically. These small events are driven by large, continental-scale air masses, fronts, and pressure systems at multiple levels of our atmosphere as a means of balancing out heat and cold. These weather systems have been marching around our globe for eons of years - affected only by volcanoes, and most recently by increased heat and mesoscale effects. If one wants to really dive into history, none of the weather events of today are as noteworthy as:

    1. The Tri-State Tornado(1925).
    2. The Year without a Summer. (1816).

Study is required into both of these as examples of what happens when truly "biblical"-type events happen that extraordinary. Such events are rare, and even now, have not been duplicated. Weather has always been weather - even in the days of Job, even as recorded in the Prophets - and all across the Middle East on that day when Jesus calmed the storm. Per Wikipedia:

"Author Michael Keene commented that the Sea of Galilee was known for its sudden and fierce storms and that the Jews were people of the land who were generally uncomfortable at sea, especially since they believed the sea to be full of frightening creatures.[3] The Pulpit Commentary attributes these sudden storms to winds arising on the summits of Mount Hermon, in the Anti-Lebanon mountains to the north. "

Instead of focusing on using fear to scare people into conversion, which in our scientifically skilled society does not work effectively, why not focus on the Gospel of Christ - Huh, Bob?

I think this is just a way to destroy the value of the Christian faith. If we believe that God is the creator of the universe and the Bible is the written word that has been inspired for us to live in harmonious unity with God's will and purpose we need to focus on a relationship with Jesus Christ that produces a character acceptable in the Kingdom of God. If we want to live the way of the world we can believe whatever the world has to offer. ASB

  3. All problems in the last chapter, the apocalypse, are a direct result of the first chapter command to go forth and multiply.

A forest fire is not a problem, unless you have millions of people living in the valley causing them. The same for flooding. Hunter gatherers don't care about flooding. Farmers do.

  4. The Book of Job would need a modern rewrite and in time the modern version would need an upgrade. It's not only the glory of a King to search out a matter now but of Geeks and very intelligent men and women.

Perhaps the modern version would have to include challenges about Higgs/Boson, Gravitational Waves, Dark Matter and Dark Energy, What occurred or was before the Big Bang or more understanding of the Carolina Bays and their relationship to the Younger Dryas cooling event 11,900 years ago and a comet strike on the ice sheet near Saginaw Bay, but we're almost there and a new edition would have to be made again.

What was unknown in the Bronze/Iron Age is now known in the Space and Computer Age. Dr Bob is stuck with trying to synchronize his faith restrictions with the facts of the 21st Century and misleading people with the ignorance of long ago.

    Job 38:

“Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
    17
Have the gates of death been shown to you?
Have you seen the gates of the deepest darkness?
    18
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?
Tell me, if you know all this.

Yes, we can do this now and can explain it very well with geological and oceanographic studies

    9
“What is the way to the abode of light?
    And where does darkness reside?
    20
Can you take them to their places?

Yes, we can explain this now very well with cosmology and nuclear physics.

“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of the hail,
    23
which I reserve for times of trouble,
for days of war and battle?
    24
What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed,
or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?

Yes, we can explain all this and more with the study of meteorology.

“Can you bind the chains[b] of the Pleiades?
    Can you loosen Orion’s belt?
    32
Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons[c]
or lead out the Bear[d] with its cubs?
    33
Do you know the laws of the heavens?

Yes we do and can explain this all very well with cosmology, gravitational studies and quantum physics with always more to learn.

  5. I'm still waiting for Bob to give a specific warning that would result in good weather as a blessing or bad weather as a punishment. He still gives generalized non-specific prognostications followed by told ya after a bad weather event.
Bob is a bit ahead of Mark Armstrong, who this week showed he still doesn't understand the difference between weather and climate.

  6. Can we admit the the power and enigma of weather on the planet created the gods who are said to control it to bless or punish humans?

    Umm...no, can't do that!

  7. "...and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth." Revelation 11:18

it was known in advance that mankinds end time behavior would lead to the the destroying of the earth; we are merely reaping what we have sown with climate change, and it also is a sign of the times...
