Philadelphia Church of God: Coronavirus "It is all a manufactured crisis!"

Below is the latest from Gerald Flurry's cult compound. Like other COG leaders, they see the coronavirus precautions as emotional and fear-based.  You can be guaranteed that PCG members will be required to be on the compound this Saturday for church services. The minds of COG leaders are getting sicker by the minute.  It is all a manufactured crisis!

Humanity is in the grip of a global pandemic considerably more devastating than the coronavirus. This awful, highly infectious flu has triggered a worldwide contagion of irrational fear and emotion. Man has lost his mind.
The ramifications of this universal abdication of reason are vast and unknown. Right now, the world is in total lockdown: Millions of people are in quarantine, a calamity for countless individuals and businesses; stock markets and economies are in free fall, even as federal governments are racking up unparalleled debt trying to save them; and many experts believe the world has entered recession. Meanwhile, national borders are closing, soldiers are being deployed to the streets in cities across the Earth, and some countries are enacting wartime laws and measures, equipping many federal governments with authoritarian power.
In aviation, when a pilot becomes disoriented and loses spatial awareness, he can panic and make decisions that send the aircraft into an out-of-control free fall, a fatal moment called the graveyard spiral. Has the panic over coronavirus plunged mankind into a graveyard spiral?
Never fear though!  This is all God's will!

From the moment the coronavirus crisis began, the Trumpet has explained that this disease is fulfilling Bible prophecy. Many biblical passages, such as Revelation 6 and Matthew 24, forecast disease pandemics in the time just before Jesus Christ returns. The truth is, as Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry recently warned, we can “expect diseases like this new Wuhan coronavirus to get worse, and to eventually spread like medieval pandemics and kill millions of people!”
The church does not need these liars claiming this is prophecy in action any more than it needs Bob Thiel making his poofy declarations.

Even though almost every country on earth today now is infected, the Flurry clan sees this as a special punishment for America, Britain and Israel and other "British Israelite" nations thrown in for good measure.

For now, let’s consider Amos 7:7-8, which describe the moment God reveals this prophecy to Amos: “He showed me: behold, the Lord was standing beside a wall built with a plumb line, with a plumb line in his hand. And the Lord said to me, ‘Amos, what do you see?’ And I said, ‘A plumb line.’ Then the Lord said, ‘Behold, I am setting a plumb line in the midst of my people Israel; I will never again pass by them’” (rsv). God Himself is talking here, and He is focusing our attention on the plumb line in His hand.
A plumb line is a measuring device; it’s an instrument used to calculate measurements and guarantee accurate construction. These verses show that God is “measuring the destruction that is to come upon the nations of Israel,” Mr. Flurry writes in Great Again. “This destruction is not randomGod is measuring it carefully and precisely. And it will bring about the most wonderful results imaginable.”
Here in Amos 7, God specifically states that He measures the punishments that are to come upon the nations of Israel, predominately America, but Britain and the State of Israel, too. God delivers the punishment with divine precision.
The Flurry's and PCG are infatuated with President Trump.
What does this mean practically? It means that God takes a personal interest in the coronavirus and its impact on America and Britain. He is aware of the consequences for President Trump and his administration, and the toll this will take on America’s economy and the public in general. He sees that the radical left is using this crisis to attack the president. It’s impossible for me to say whether America’s resurgence is over, or if this disaster will puncture Mr. Trump’s hope of reelection. But thanks to Amos 7, I can tell you that God is paying close attention to this crisis and that it will fulfill His will.
They then make this comment:
I can also state: The coronavirus is not going to take down President Trump and neither is the radical left, which has played an instrumental role in manufacturing this crisis, as it uses it to further its agenda. As the market crashes and the shelves empty, remember this: God is monitoring this situation closely; it is unfolding exactly according to His plan. Amos 7 makes it clear that Mr. Trump will be brought down by God, on His time schedule, and on His terms.

  1. Now I'm really confused. Wasnt the President supposed to persecute them after getting a bug in his ear from Joe Jr?

  2. These people are so stupid. It didn't come from the left or the right, and it isn't disproportionately affecting or not affecting countries or nationalities mentioned in Revelation. It is now a global thing, equally unfair to all! It was either an accident or an experiment gone horribly wrong in China, who suppressed those amongst themselves who thought it ethical to warn the rest of the world. It is life-threatening, so of course people are reacting crazily to it. People whom we all know and love may die because of this. And, the Flurrys and their lackeys are not helping by exploiting it in a blatant attempt to confirm their agenda. In fact they are as bad as or worse than the leftist and rightist conspiracy buffs.

Best to dust off and read the ol' Freedom Outlaw's Handbook, cue up Skynyrd's "God and Guns" on the CD player, say a little prayer, take your vitamins, and try to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. We've all got to practice positive thinking, not the suppository thinking which we were taught in Armstrongism.

  3. The Corona virus has a mortality rate of about 1%, which is 10 times greater than the flu.
Claiming that present events are exact repetitions of events in the old testament, is untrue. History does repeat, but the actors and details are never the same. There's personality in everything. They are making God in their own image by claiming that He is a micromanager. Where's the inherent freedom in "choose life or choose death?"

  4. Try 4.6% , 11:56! And it's also killing people outside of the initial "at risk" group. Calif Gov says 56% of his state''s population will get it.

  5. When I worked in the PCGs Mail Processing Center it was common practice for us to destroys thousand of booklets because Flurry got NEW prophecy/NEW truth. Every time one of his many prophecies didn’t come to pass he had to update everything. Seemed as though once a month there’d be an announcement for us to throw out a certain booklet and that a new updated one would be mailed to us shortly.
This current virus is just much needed grief porn for Flurry to frighten his members and drive numbers up.

I'm curious what your source is for your 4.6% claim.

From Reason.com, article entitled 'Trump declares national emergency to unleash the full power of the National government' by Billy Binion.
"Anthony Fauci, director of the National institute of Allergy and infectious deceased testified that the mortality rate is likely to settle around 1%, which is 10 times that of the flu."

That comment is one of the stupidest I've ever seen on this blog. Since COVID-19 is nowhere near over there's no way that any thinking person would compare it with any past pandemics. Key words, "thinking person".

Right there is the reason this is going to get worse, people are stupid. Instead of erring on the side of caution they say and do stupid things.

It's sickening. This kind of mentality is the reason that the Packs, Flurrys, Thiels, UCGs, COGWAs, LCGs, etc. of the world will always have a guaranteed following no matter how many facts they are shown.

    Pathetic

  9. THe "radical left". Has Armstrongism ever been concerned about the radical right? Did they ever make statements deploring Charlottesville? Do they have any recognition of Trump's chicanery? HWA seemed to be always sparring with "liberals" lurking in the WCG.

There seems to be a pattern in Armstrongism of flirting with the extreme (is there any other?) right wing while ferociously condemning centrists and the left wing.

For me, authoritarianism on the right and authoritarianism on the left are pretty much the same miserable thing. Just different vested interests and strategies of subterfuge.

  10. Well , one thing we know for sure, ... Flurry and his bunch are a "Manufactured Church" and have a "Manufactured False Prophet"!

The right Lord it over peoples minds, the left lords it over peoples finances via big government and high taxes. They are soul mates who use similar strategies, as you point out. Churchianity, including Herbs church and splinters are very right wing, but secular society has been predominantly left wing since WW 2. Both chain people, stripping them of their adulthood. The Bible rejects both.

  12. The Chinese virus from Wuhan might help to save the dwindling PCG cult from running out of money. All the old people in the PCG can will their estates to the PCG and then die of the Chinese virus. That way they can continue to support the evil in the PCG even after they are dead.

  13. “Philadelphia Church of God: Coronavirus 'It is all a manufactured crisis!'”

The PCG has been manufacturing crisis after crisis after crisis to make money.

Now the PCG seems to be whining that crisis manufacturing is moving to China.

Both Gerald Flurry of the PCG cult and David Pack of the RCG cult really have to scramble to keep up with their own chronic lying that they do in God's name.

  15. The original post reads: "These verses show that God is 'measuring the destruction that is to come upon the nations of Israel,' Mr. Flurry writes in Great Again. 'This destruction is not random; God is measuring it carefully and precisely.'"

Byker Bob has pointed out how stupid this statement is, considering the worldwide distribution of Covid 19. Scattershot, not focused like a plumb lint.

Just as stupid is the general assertion: "God delivers the punishment with divine precision." Hah! Just like the Great Flood, right? Not just the sinners guilty of abominations, but their innocent children. Also the other organisms unfortunate enough to be alive at the time. And remember, as just one other example, all the innocents destroyed by Joshua in his divinely-mandated scorched-earth campaigns. Flurry's focus on that one prophecy in Amos 7 is a classic case of cherry-picking.

By defying safety precautions, Flurry may be placing his own compound directly under the plumb line that marks a point of maximum destruction.

  17. I bet the major 24-7 news networks are profiting from increased audience / advertising as the world views the spectacle of the “pandemic”. I haven’t heard much, though, about the 45 million occurrences of influenza in the USA during the 2018 - 2019 season or the resultant 80,000 deaths. Not much said either about the 159,000 regular deaths per day in the world. The celebrity network anchors are not much different than COG narcissists with their fancy clothes, half truths, and schemes to retain audience for financial gain. Freedom of speech is a Right but not permitted if it might cause a riot or be harmful. Look at the harm from this lopsided coverage of the coronavirus. The statistics don’t warrant the mass hysteria that has gripped the world. But some folks are making money on it. The media is out of control. The truth, half the truth, and nothing but distorted truth. But they look good and have mesmerizing gyrate in your seat drama designed to exploit fears and make money; like the COG cons. Nothing new under the sun.

  18. To the dude questioning the 4.6% mortality rate, actually in Italy, it is currently being reported as 8.6%.

I believe the US government is being subtle in it's approach by understating the death rate, and by also using the National Guard to "assist the supply chain"

This stuff is pretty serious. Hope nobody here is missing that as they determine how to react.

    ReplyDelete
  19. To the dude misquoting stats and who is obviously buying into the hype; The chance of someone with symptomatic Covid-19 dying varied by age, confirming other studies. For those aged 15 to 44, the fatality rate was 0.5%, though it might have been as low as 0.1% or as high as 1.3%. For people 45 to 64, the fatality rate was also 0.5%, with a possible low of 0.2% and a possible high of 1.1%. For those over 64, it was 2.7%, with a low and high estimate of 1.5% and 4.7%.

The chance of serious illness from coronavirus infection in younger people was so low, the scientists estimate a fatality rate of zero.

Sounds like a disgruntled former COG minister to me. Don’t you get tired of being deceived, why you gotta learn the hard way every time?

    ReplyDelete
  20. The dude questioning the 4.6% mortality rate is an ignorant piece of shit. Way too many pieces within the cog and anti-cog community!

    ReplyDelete
  21. And the “I hope nobody here” warning, scare tactic is classic COG mind control. Yep, ex ministurd. Just can’t stop pushing your beliefs on others. Gotta have the final word, right? That make you feel better inside? So important. So informed. Wow dude!!!!

  22. 12:26pm you are the one who sounds like a minister who doesn't care about those over 64. After all, they are usually retired and don't pay tithes.

Are you too stupid to understand that while younger people may not die from, or even show signs of infection, they can still be carriers to their parents, grandparents and or great grandparents.

    You are stupid!

  23. What’s stupid is shutting down the world economy causing bankruptcy and hardship for billions of people because about 13,000 people have died from a virus. On any average day 150,000 people did or various cause, including death from complications associated with old age. It is mass hysteria led by those who would profit and perpetuated by those who believe everything the hear or see in church or in tv.

    ReplyDelete
  24. 2:55pm It's not just any old virus, there's no vaccine! No one even knows if there'll ever be a vaccine. Idiots like you are the reason that there might be mass hysteria in the near future, people know that ignorant fools like yourself will just poo poo this.

For the record I've seen no mass hysteria yet, just people stocking up before a possible storm. Store shelves empty fast if everyone is buying the same things, but at every store that I've been to everyone is orderly and patient.

That will most likely change because of fools like yourself who refuse to err on the side of caution. I have an 83 year old father, a 73 year old mother, and a granddaughter that is due in a month. I don't have the luxury of ignorantly assuming that all is or will be a.o.k.!

Fools like you are the problem, much like the ignorant anti-vaxxers who are too stupid to quarantine themselves.

Every time you post you show your stupidity!

  25. Most viruses that emerge wreak havoc for some time, then after sooner or later there is a vaccine. We all have older loved ones and children. I stay home with my family, keep my distance socially and physically. I work from home, have extra stock in the cabinets etc. You’re freaking out and name calling. I think If I was quarantined I’d hope it’d not be with you. So emotional and mean. Can’t even Post without being attacked for expressing opinions and sharing statistics. It’ll be ok. Take a deep breath and stay home and watch CNN. Hope you have plenty of TP, wipe your lips.

  26. Also, I don't watch that stupid liberal "news?" channel!

I'm most likely more conservative than you, I'm just not stupid enough to pooh-pooh the potential harm this virus may cause.

  27. I'm not merely calling names. I have facts to back up my claim that you are stupid.

"then after sooner or later there is a vaccine."

That right there is just one of your stupid comments. Sure chances are that there will be a vaccine eventually, but it is not a sure thing as your comment claims.

My daughter is a Microbiologist, her lab is working on a COVID-19 vaccine. If you think that my comments to you prove that I'm "freaking out" or are scared in any way then you are sorely mistaken.

Erring on the side of caution without going overboard is what I've advocated from the beginning.

Just go back to your earlier posts, you've been downplaying the entire thing. Any intelligent person would not do that. I'm not advocating mass hysteria and as yet there hasn't been any even though in your 7:54pm post you claim that "mass hysteria has gripped the world". You are the one who comes across as freaked out and lacking proper self-control. By downplaying something that we have no clue about you're revealing which one of us is the "emotional" one.

As Forest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does" and you've been "doing" throughout your posts!

Don't like my pointing it out? Who gives a rats ass! Nobody likes whiners.

  30. There is one thing Armstrongism taught us and that is everyone in the church is superior to everyone else, especially other church members. We know more than everyone else and our opinion is the only one that matters. Some cult members have never been able to get over their superiority complex. Some of the nastiest people I have ever met have been church members while the kindest people I have ever met have been my nonArmstrongite neighbors.
