View video here: Obey God Rather Than Men
We have another splinter cult leader who thinks he is above the law and in fact, mocks it at the very beginning of the sermon. Jon Bisby has been stirring up a stink in COGTE for a while with outlandish sermons and idiotic prophecies. Church members say he is denigrating Raymond Cole's direction he had intended and has now set himself up as the ultimate authority in everything and some claim he has placed himself on the same level as Jesus without saying it outright. His words are the God-inspired! He is a crazier version of Bob Thiel, if that is even a possibility!
The COGTE posting on this blog is the most commented-on posting here so far. There is some really weird stuff there. Church of God, The Eternal's Jon Brisby Sinks To A New Vile Low
I'm going to start off the sermon by touching my face.
Am I being flippant?
Am I being reactionary?
Disrespectful?
It is my face and I reserve the right to touch my face. No matter what our Governor says or the President of the United States or any other medical expert is going to tell me what I should do.
Do I believe it is godly and biblical to practice good hygiene and persona practices that cut down on the spreading of disease?
Absolutely!
Do I believe it is the right of any human government to go beyond their authority and dictate how we do it in our personal lives?
The answer is no.
How do we know the difference and how do we draw the line?
Bisby is demanding that his followers attend services every week. Some are contemplating going to the authorities about him and turning him in. He is becoming the new version of GTA. Flashy clothing, cars, new condo, and other things to appeal to the women in the church. A lot of rumors are floating around about him.
ReplyDeleteWe, as a nation, are in a war, and the corona virus is the enemy. If it wins, it destroys our country. I'm sorry, but Jon Bisby has committed treason! So has Jerry Falwell Jr. There is just no other word to describe their defiance. They are enemy combatants and should be sent to Gitmo.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, hopefully their members will return in kind and have the good sense to defy them.

"..dictate how we do it in our personal lives?"
ReplyDeleteSo the government can't dictate peoples personal lives, but the ministers can. And to a micro level. It's like a mob turf war. The members are the exclusive property of their church, so the government should go mind its own business.
Come on, folks! If you are a sincere follower of Jesus, you will obey His command and visit Jon Bisby in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteWhen (not if) Bisby's immune system gets and must fight off the virus, I hope he will have the Christian integrity not to go to the hospital. Let him die gasping for air, not supported by a ventilator that could have been used on an elderly person who tried but failed to avoid the virus.
ReplyDeleteThe malignant narcissist always rises to the top at the expense of others
ReplyDeleteHow come these sanctimonious zealots never quote Romans 13?
ReplyDeleteArmstrongism is a mental disorder.
ReplyDeleteBrisby is as flighty as a FRISBEE!
ReplyDeleteHis comments are absurd of course. However, I do have a problem with the giving up of rights just because the government says to. I know some of you are older than 65 and that can affect considerations.
ReplyDeleteMy issue is that they have given so little data on the baseline health of those that have been hospitalized. We know that younger and/or healthy people may well have less issues than with the flu (don't curse me yet). I know this is not the flu; it is more contagious, but we know the seriousness is punctuated within groups more than the flu is. So, those 20 and younger are safer from corona than they are from the flu. This is true. Those that are healthy and under 50 (perhaps the truly healthy under 60 even)are pretty dang safe too.
I get it: curve flattening, taking care to not infect the more vulnerable, not overburdening hospitals, etc.
But, is shutting down the economy the way we should have done it or will do it in the future?
What if we knew who the victims of covid really are. We would be able to protect them better and financially assist this smaller population better. What if we made sure they were quarantined and protected for a month or more and let those that are much less vulnerable work if they choose and instruct them that if they are indeed necessarily contacting the vulnerable then they too are not invited to work. The truly healthy and the young will not wind up overburdening the hospitals if they take precautions as do their employers. With some allowed "ifs", this could actually shorten the quarantine period.
There are unintended consequences in this lock down as we all know. I think the time thus far has been reasonable, but is it the best way? The economy and our rights do matter. We have not balanced them in the equation. We have not demanded more information in order to make the best decisions. Maybe more information would show this is the best course of action; but, I suspect not. If any that may choose to respond can't do so in a reasonable way, that's your problem, not mine (sorry for this additional line, it's the first time I've ever used it, but it's true).
7:34am I'd say the mental disorder is held by those who after 15, 20, 30 years removed from Armstrongism are still posting on these worthless blogs. The ones who are going to remain in an acog will remain whether you all post or not and those who are going to leave don't need you!
ReplyDeleteGet a life!
10:02 is funny guy posting. Thanks for the laugh and the posting.

If you don't like it take a hike. You contribute nothing but your callousness. Perhaps this next quote will help you pull your self-righteous head out of your rectum.

I generally find the next one to be true and it keeps me coming back for more abuse
“He that wrestles with us strengthens our nerves and sharpens our skill. Our antagonist is our helper.”

I was healed of my mental disorder once I left WCG. That was a about 25 years ago. Thankfully I did get a life. Yes I agree, most will stay in their ACOG. Gary who runs this blog has worked tirelessly to keep this blog going. He posts comments from all perspectives, even yours. My reason for posting is to support Gary. There is life after being in WCG or one of the splinter groups. Many in the splinters are wonderful people. Many of the ministers are wonderful people. I recently called a minister in UCG. His family had recently gone through a hard situation. I told him and his wife how I considered them life long friends. I told them if I could help in any way to please call me.

Hey Anon 10:02 is it not a mistake to believe these wise guys and gals are telling you the truth that they left ? Where's the evidence ? Think outside of the box.

ReplyDeleteWhat if its true that we only said we left the acog's behind?
What if we are still in the acog's?
We would be reaping havoc and division. Either way, in or out, havoc and division are the ways of the world and the ways of the world are the same ways as found in the armstrong churches of god.
But not the way of Jesus Christ. Nor the way of living a truthful life. Painful Truth.
DeleteAnon at 5:26. Brisby would be very hypocritical if he ever went to the doctor or hospital because the group is taught to avoid "Satan's medical system" unless they suffer an injury like a broken bone.
ReplyDeleteAnon 4:50 says " Brisby would be very hypocritical if he ever went to the doctor or hospital because the group is taught to avoid "Satan's medical system" unless they suffer an injury like a broken bone."
ReplyDeleteYes, God says its all right to use Satan's medical system if you have a broken bone.
My problem is, I can't remember what chapter and verse that is in....)
:-)
Painful Truth...it's in the same chapter as root canals and tonsillectomies. As long as the opening is already there, it's fine. Hemorrhoids are ok to get taken care of too I suppose and is probably in the same chapter. I forget where it is.... Maybe Two Corinthians...

ReplyDeleteI was very much amused that you swear by a medicine called "chernobyl" found in Rev 8:10-11
You biblical medicine man you!
Good for you that it works.

People forget that we're deep in the fray of things currently. Facts are being collected, and we can't possibly know what just happened until the facts are tabulated and analyzed. So many unknowns. People are throwing everything at this pandemic right now, hoping to gain control. It is inevitable that freedoms will need to be temporarily surrendered, and sacrifices made. That is part of the cost of survival, and has been true of every war or emergency in our history. After it is over and has been processed, answers will become available.
ReplyDeleteWhat I said several weeks ago is just as true of Jon Brisby as it is of all the leaders of Armstrongism. You can't trust anything they say in an emergency situation such as this because they are not looking out for your best interests. They are looking out for their own self-interests and the corporate interests of their organizations. They are not slick enough in their spin to mask this from you. You can see what they are doing with your own eyes!

LOL when Brisby says "it is my face and I reserve the right to touch my face." I remember when he tried to control the guest list of a member's wedding. It bothered me because it wasn't his wedding. So, is it ok for Brisby to touch all his followers faces whether they want him to or not?
ReplyDeleteBrisby says: " Do I believe it is the right of any human government to go beyond their authority and dictate how we do it in our personal lives? The answer is no."
ReplyDeleteI know nothing at all about this Brisby character, but if he is like his others in his fundamentalist brotherhood, his indignation about government interference in how citizens do it in their personal lives does not extend to citizens who are women, poverty-stricken, brown, or gay. Stern preachers zealously make laws governing the private behavior of those people.
Natural hair colour? I think NOT. Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall-When pride cometh, then cometh shame we all know it deep down
ReplyDeleteThis fellow loves to dress up as Rock Star at Feast Time. Would Jesus do That?
ReplyDeletefew in the Philippines are saying he's lost his mind. We fall asleep in church service most sabbath times. His too boring
ReplyDeleteI hear Jesus ! Jesus gives power Jesus is in his flesh
ReplyDeleteThese groups have severe entitlement issues, and yet they think they have God's authority to take others rights away, just pitiful.
ReplyDeleteAbout the Wedding comment from 4-3-20 at 5:32 am, Jon did try to force his will on the family. Jon was going to preform the ceremony but backed out when the couple and bride's mother refused to drop an old family friend of many years off the invitation list. The couple had to change plans and had a local minister preform the wedding. The wedding and the reception were wonderful with many attending. Bill the guest Jon wanted removed told me personally he would not have caused any problems with Jon as they both had issues with one another. I've known Bill and Jon both for years and I am familiar with the problems that Jon caused in East TN by bringing in a couple of brothers who tried to rule over the brethren rather than fellowship. Bill was the leadsman of that tiny group and made decisions like you would with a cooperative for decades. Everyone had input but not so with Jon and the two brothers. My opinion is that Raymond Cole never did nor would he do the things Jon and the two brothers are doing. I know everyone of us have issues to repent of and overcome but sadly I do not see much of that coming from those who claim to be carrying the mantle as they say of HWA. Nicolaitans and people like Diotrephes are always with us. Those with eyes to see and ears to hear will recognize them for who they really are. There is still time to repent if not for the little one then do so for yourself.
ReplyDeleteDiotrephes i'm sad to say! Very true!
ReplyDeleteWhy hasn’t Brisby been watching news?
