Most of us realized it would only be a matter to time till Sheldon Monson branched out on his own and started a new splinter group. What else is a wayward COG minister to do when they leave or get kicked out of something that has controlled every aspect of their life? They know nothing else. While some men do leave and get real jobs and live fulfilled lives OUTSIDE of the COG, far too many of them end up being like Bob Thiel who thinks God is leading them into some kind of imaginary end-time work.
One thing is for sure, COG ministers are a rebellious lot who on one hand preach following government, and on the other, flip church government the middle finger whenever it doesn't fit their imagined paradigm. It has always been a matter of what's good for the member is never good for the minister.
The best thing about this is that we all know that the boys in the Living Church of God will NOT be happy! LCG deserves all of this right now. If Weston had not had a hissy fit and acted out in anger and had resolved this issue in a graceful loving Christian manner, then there probably would not be an issue. But then, when has COG leadership ever acted in a graceful loving Christian manner????
This was just sent to me:
Sheldon has officially set up his own feast site. The ink is dry in the hall rental. I’ll send details as soon as I have confirmation. I know that it’s MO but I’m not sure if it’s Lake Ozarks or Branson. He’s doing online festival registration and everything. I’m appalled that he’s doing this but we can’t really be surprised because this is what Armstrong people do. The only silver lining is that it will piss off LCG which pleases me lol. I
Church of God News has this:
Sheldon Monson – Living Church of God
Sheldon Monson confirmed in his announcements during the Sabbath service on August 29th that he is starting a significant breakaway group from the Living Chuch of God, referring to the several hundred people watching online, and that “many of you are meeting in homes, some of you in church halls already.”
A Festival of Tabernacles venue has been organized at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake of the Ozarks, Osage Beach, Missouri. He said that the meeting space booked will hold up to 900 people, and they would not have to wear masks and could sing.
The situation outside the meeting hall is different. The Resort’s Health & Safety Update, August 11th, states: “Face coverings will be required for all guests and team members age two years and older in our indoor public spaces and common areas.
Due to our concern for public health and the well-being of our guests and associates, we have adjusted our normal operations in order to promote social distancing.”
A shame he has no site in England. He would be fined 13.000 dollars and each participant upto 4000 dollars each.
ReplyDeleteNck
Dean Martin addressed this with his "there's too many chiefs but not enough Indians in this town" lyrics in his 1968 "Not enough Indians" song.
ReplyDeleteHow many splinter groups does this make now after Rod Meredith pitched his fit and started Global?

?????
Rod Meredith taught him well. Divide. Start your own group. Keep all the money and the power yourself. Answer to no one.
ReplyDeleteWell isnt it ironic that it is in the same area as LCG? Very convenient for Sheldon and trying to pull members over to him.

Sheldon is a now Super Spreader, and not just of a virus.
He who has masks off let him cast the first cough.
ReplyDeleteFor Munson so loved the church that he gave his only begotten job that whomsoever shall follow him shall have eternal Corona.
Oh boy, you get to sing old purple hymnal Dwights! Cant wait!
ReplyDeleteOh no, not another splinter. But then again, what do you expect from the parent church which set a bad example by breaking away from God in the 70s and now all these daughter breakaways that will never end.
ReplyDeleteFor those who are confused and are looking for the true church. Here are some tips:
1. The truth is always in the church.
2. Truth comes from divine revelation.
3. God always use a chosen servant to preach the truth.
4. Jesus Christ will be with the church until His second coming.
5. It is our responsibility to find that true church.

Who's permission does he have to ask. No-one on here that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteExpect more of this in the future as the aged grow ancient.
The pandemic has changed everything, expectations of returning to the old ways may not go as the ancients of old expect. Same old, same old is out the window.
WCG grew out of the aftermath of the great depression and World War, what will grow out of a World pandemic? Are we all doomed to end up like you lot on here? No way. May God forbid it.
"Covid Church of God" is about all the names left I'd think.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Mickey Webster's Mickey Mousse Church of God. He left Living too.
ReplyDeleteSo if someone was to wear a mask in Sheldon's group, are they immediately shown the door, unless they 'de-mask'.
ReplyDeleteOf course, if they are wearing a mask, who can tell if they are silent during the hymns, or just singing quietly?
How do these clowns think they are qualifying to rule with Jesus Christ when He returns, when they cannot even get along with each other right now.
ReplyDeleteDo they think the Millennium will be like the United Nations - with the different country leaders forming blocs and disagreeing among themselves.
I question whether in their hearts, they really believe what they preach about the return of Christ.
Best comment on this thread TLA.
DeleteWith all the COG organizations already out there we didn't need anther one. And yet he will get a following. Frankly, although I am not a minister, I would be very troubled about starting my own COG. Perhaps, my ego isn't BIG enough.
ReplyDeleteI think that much of the laity, (were and are wise enough) NOT to be in the most of the larger organizations. That would include LCG. Mr. Munsen has stayed with that corrupt organization for many years. Will he teach a lot of their errors too, or just his version of the truth?
Time will tell....
They are all rotten because their father (HWA) was rotten. I honestly don’t know how people continue to follow this f***ed up religion and these unholy men. It truly goes to show that people will be believe anything and stand ready to be abused and ruled by over lords.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible says that COGs are cursed - they will split and splinter until they disappear.
ReplyDeleteGalatians 3:10-11
For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.”
That is a lie! God says His Church will never die.
DeleteAh, but you (Anon 730) assume the COGs to be "His Church", while 531 does not.
DeleteI enjoyed Questeruks comment about a sincere follower of Sheldon who would like to wear a mask.
ReplyDeleteI was reminded of HWA's position that the abstaining from unclean meats was not a spiritual matter but a physical health requirement. HWA as an evangelist therefore refused to preach about unclean meats to the unconverted, since the topic did not concern the Gospel.
Nck
Paul was a liar who made up stories of visions like the one on the road to Damascus. What a liar.
ReplyDeleteJews celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles in their homes. They did not use it as an annual convention. They made sukkah (booths) in their homes. HWA changed the Feast of Tabernacles.
ReplyDeleteIt is dispiriting to see that in Munson's assembly masks will not be required and that singing is to be allowed. Those practices are not arbitrary. Those measures are attempts to slow down the spread of Covid-19. It is discouraging that some are willing to tempt fate during such a dangerous time.
God's church is not cursed.
ReplyDeleteLCG is cursed because of their reliance on the law (Gal 3:10-11).
God's church will never die.
LCG is now very sick and will die, because it is not God's church.
Anon 5:31 Dropped the mic
ReplyDeleteExcellent scripture citation. These legalistic Armstrongites prefer to complete ignore Galatians.
And to anon 7:30: how I’m the world did you get that God’s church doesn’t exist out of that scripture? Maybe you should read it again. You are obviously a law keeper. Do you keep the entire law? Not likely. You pick and choose the laws that suit you and somehow dismiss the rest. That’s what Herbert Armstrong did And that is what you are doing too.
5:26am So am I to assume that when you were in the WCG that you actually believed that you were under the old Mt. Sinai covenant? If so you weren't very bright.
ReplyDeletePlease show me a systematic list of laws between the books of Acts and Revelation that you think we're to keep.
I meant 5:16am not 5:26am
ReplyDelete5:16am One other thing, what does establish the law mean to you?
ReplyDeleteEnough already. Give it a rest.
DeleteI wonder if Sheldon will keep the Feast as it’s outlined in the Bible or like HWA deemed it be kept. Inquiring minds wanna know!!!
ReplyDeleteGive what a rest????
