UCG: Relax, COVID is not a sign of the end times, but is a "Dress Rehearsal"

We must never forget that the boys in Cincinnati are the authority on all kind of things, and in this case, prophecy. They have determined that there is no need to worry about the pandemic being a sure sign of the end times. Whew! What a relief!

Interest in Bible prophecy has been sharpened by this pandemic. Very early on, we said this was not the time of pestilence defined by the fourth horseman in Revelation 6. Certainly, it has been a serious health emergency, but we understand there were other pieces of the prophetic puzzle not yet in place. There will be larger disease pandemics in the future. To use Mr. Mead’s phrase, this has been a “dress rehearsal.”

More recently some have concluded that an impending vaccine for this virus could be the “mark of the beast” mentioned in Revelation. Such speculation does not match the biblical descriptors of what will come upon the world during the coming great tribulation. God’s elect will know when this mark arrives and will have the fortitude to resist its defining features. Unsound and unscriptural speculation today should be avoided. We are not yet at the moment when the beast power has appeared and is enforcing its mark.

They know this is not a sign of the end because Darris McNeely has not seen the 4 Horsemen ride across the country.

We haven’t run with the horses yet. But we have come through a period we should consider as a dress rehearsal for bigger things to come. Let’s learn from what we’ve experienced.

So there you have it! Bob Thiel eat your heart out!

  1. Whilst many behind closed doors doubt a Covid 19 vaccine is the "mark of the beast".
Calling it a "dress rehearsal" is also biblically off track.

UCG, above and beyond all other groups, had 2020 earmarked for a special year. Key 25th anniversary plans had been organising for months amongst the ministry. The UCG ministry couldn't get to the GCE 2020 special meetings fast enough.

If this world pandemic doesn't really stop the UCG to at least think and ponder the what and why's God allowed this to happen, in such a special year to them, then nothing will.

If not then they are too far gone. Ships that have set sail with no turning back. (turning back to God)

  2. "Dress rehearsal"

Just as WW II was for HWA's failed prophesies...

  3. COVID-19 is a dress rehearsal for when all those godless UCG weirdos go into the Great Tribulation and have to give up their Winter Family X-mass Weekend custom for keeps rather than just cancel it for this year.

  5. I wouldn't call Covid-19 a dress rehearsal, but it's certainly an example of how things can change over night in anyone's life.

  6. Both UCG and COGWA probably are scrambling right now, after Hurricane Sally slammed into their Feast sites at Orange Beach, AL.

I'm hearing the city will be closed to outsiders until the week before the Feast starts.

Not to mention the tension this week in another Feast city, after Lancaster, PA police shot and killed a man.

Come to think of it, why did God also allow those things?

  7. UCG (and some of their members) have commented repeatedly that they never actually called Covid-19 a sign of "the end." However, if you followed what they released in the weeks just after the US began shutting down due to Covid, you see these more recent claims are a lie. Darris McNeely was the one who wrote the letter below (and gave a video update) with this ominous warning.

The COG's are famous for strongly implying something, but stopping just short of clearly identifying what they are talking about. This way later they can have plausible deniability.

From a letter weeks into the pandemic:

"In less than two weeks, the world went from a sense of normalcy to an urgent reaction to the COVID-19 virus. The lives of hundreds of millions of people were changed almost overnight. It was sudden and we had no time to prepare. Schools and businesses were closed. Major sporting events—from the Tokyo Olympics to NBA Basketball and all major sporting events around the world—were abruptly cancelled. Airline schedules were reduced by 80% and more, grounding most major carrier airplanes and placing them in financial jeopardy. The U.S. Congress passed a multi-trillion-dollar aid and stimulus package, the largest in history. Unprecedented events!...

“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning.”

This is where we are at this moment in 2020...Jesus concludes by saying “Watch.” We don’t know when the master will come, “lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And I say to you, I say to all; Watch!” (Verses 35-37).

Suddenly—as we have now seen—means without warning, when least expected...What does this pandemic mean in the context of Bible prophecy? Do not waste this crisis moment by thinking a return to normal means nothing significant has happened. Something significant has occurred. You need to act...

Here what Peter says about prophetic events. “Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness” (2 Peter 3:11). He is saying that an understanding of prophecy should compel us to live a holy, godly life. Because we know a judgment is coming, we should prepare to meet the next moment of trial with faith and courage.

Now is the time to prepare your life.

Now is the time to seek God and prepare for the age to come."

Does anyone think that writing the above letter weeks into the pandemic, UCG didn't think the Great Tribulation and "judgement" was just around the corner?

UCG repeatedly has said they never claimed Covid-19 was the end. However, looking at their own writings, tells a very different message.

If your accountant strongly implied you were about to be audited (but stopped short of saying it would actually happen), would you walk away believing that person? Apply their logic to any other profession and explain to me how they aren't culpable for claiming it was the end by implication?

They are absolute liars in claiming they never thought Covid-19 was "the End." Ironically Darris McNeely was the one who implied it!

  8. 8:17pm I'm not a UCG fan, especially not a Darris McNeely fan but you are definitely reading more into that letter than what is there. Your bias is showing.
