I don't think someone appreciates the blog...
Why are you westing your time doing stupidities wasting your energy and effort running website abouth the followers of Armstrong You need to seek God follow his Prophecies Dan 12.4 To search scriptures multiplay increase knowledge and become Saved...You are in darkness as followers of Amstrong
Nadia Tomazic
Sure thing Nadia.
Anyone care to leave an update (As of 3/1/2020), on the ministers that have now left Dave's "Church"? Seems his ministry is waking up to some degree.
ReplyDeleteI think Nadia does not understand that this is NOT a page for "followers" of Armstrong, but rather, survivors of Armstrong, or any of the phony and crazy folks like Thiel, Weinland, Flurry , Pack, ad nauseam, the claim his mantle.
ReplyDeleteNadia should write that letter to all the COG’s.
ReplyDeleteWe here are all saved Nadia!
And maybe Nadia’s English isn’t that good and that’s why she misunderstood the purpose of this blog.
The second she threw out Daniel as a prophecy we need to be warned about she lost all credibility.
ReplyDeleteNadia is not a problem. She will improve in her use of English and this will not happen in the future. The problem is the people who populate Splinterdom most of whom have some native use of English and yet seem to not understand some of the salient issues of theology.
ReplyDeleteBut there is a difference in the executive use of language and verbal reasoning. One can be glib but at the same time miss the point. I have always been impressed by the glibness of a certain category of Ambassador College trained people. They excel in the rhetoric of salesmanship but when it comes to theology, you need to be the artful dodger.
I would like to go on a spiritual retreat. Never been.

Really? You are that bias?
I always understood that ANYONE trying to find Christ is welcome in His church. But then again none of the COG’s are His church..

ReplyDeleteI don't know Nadia's native language, but Google may be able to "computer translate" the blog into her language. And if Bob doesn't have his books in her language, she should tell him.
* I was an ESL teacher for many years, giving encouragement rather than criticism is much appreciated!

ReplyDeleteHere NEO illustrates the central problem. Is Christianity a discipline that the average person can understand and practice? Or must one be a specially trained intellectual to understand and practice Christianity properly? If the latter, your religion needs a set-apart class of priests to interpret things for the laypeople, or else it will remain a sect for just a few gnostic specialists. But, if the former, what can be done about the conflicting views of the many who set themselves up as priests/interpreters but disagree with each other?
There is, of course, a third way. What if Jesus' real message, as borne out by his life, has to do not with your theology but instead with how you treat other people? What if Jesus will welcome warmly the Muslim or Buddhist nurse who spent her life giving comfort to the sick and dying, but will reject the man who studied the Bible for hours daily to become doctrinally correct, but who never actually found time to extend himself in love and service to others?
Nadia.
ReplyDeleteThis site is about present and former Armstrongite cult members. The mental problems that cult members have is pointed out in "Cults in our midst" by Margaret Singer page 296. These include:
Panic attacks
Cognitive inefficiencies
Dissociative states
Guilt
Shame
Self blaming attitudes
Fear and paranoia
Excessive doubts
Depression and a sense of alienation
Loneliness
Low self esteem and low self confidence
Distrust of self in make good choices
Problems in reactivating a value system to live by
And no Nadia, the prophesies of Daniel do not address or solve these problems. Your constricted point of view is typical of members who have been fed spiritual milk all their lives.

ReplyDeleteYou have set up a strawman that you can drub that has nothing to do with my statement. One does not have to be a titan of theology to be a Christian. But neither can one pretend that Christianity in its shallowness can be apprehended fully by whomever. You can't sit down in the Des Moines Public Library, ignore orthodox theology, and expect to develop a well founded Christian dogma. There is a real Christian theology. It's not all a crap shoot.
Your Muslim nurses will have to come to accept Christ - there's no other name. And the zealous theology student who has no applied Christian practicum is kind of a concocted case. Seems artificial. Why even bring it up in this context.

When the anger level goes up, the use of SpellCheck tends to go down. That's true across social media.
ReplyDeleteN.E.O. says, "I would like to go on a spiritual retreat. Never been."
ReplyDeleteI have been on a spiritual retreat for many years now. Every time somebody tries to recruit me for a "spiritual" activity or recommends a "spiritual" activity, I retreat.
I don't claim my materialistic approach is objectively superior to those approaches described as "spiritual." It's just that it's more satisfying for me.

What a revealing statement! Armstrongism is littered with such cases. Either NEO is too distant from Armstrongism to know this, or he is too close to the problem to recognize it.
So true. Many ministers and members know their bibles inside out. but are morally twisted.
DeleteNadia clearly doesn't realise this blog is teeming with commentators and bloggers who occupy the pulpit. That's how screwed up this situation is.
ReplyDeleteNEO
ReplyDeleteHere I would in a split second pay every penny to send you to a retreat... But a one way ticket only.
Anon 12:59 NEO is very picky about who is made welcome at NEO'S church. Everyone's a idiot to NEO.
