Those funny folk over at the Philadelphia Church of God cult compound have an article up on their website asking: "Are You Tired of Being Lied To?".
Seriously? This is the PCG writing this! A church that has told more lies than even Bob Thiel has, which is hard to believe!
Apparently, none of those fun boys at the Compound want to take credit for the article, Gerald and Lil'Stevie sure did not.
We live in a time when truth is becoming very rare and precious. What is the truth about covid-19? Are masks helpful or harmful? Are vaccines saving lives or killing people? What is the truth about the United States presidential election? How about global warming? Or is it global cooling? What is the truth? And do you really want to know?
Jesus Christ said the truth will make you free (John 8:32). Just think about how much easier and less stressful life would be if people told the truth—all the time! Surely everyone would want to live in a world of complete honesty. Or would they? Would you?
The question that should always be asked is, "would you want to live in a world ruled over by the Philadelphia Church of God people"? The answer to that is NO!
The sad truth is that people lie, even though the Ninth Commandment forbids it. Romans 3:4 says, “[L]et God be true, but every man a liar ….” Many studies show that people typically lie to get out of trouble or to make themselves look good.
Never has this been more evident than what we see in the current leadership of the Churches of God. From Gerald Flurry lying about the coronation stone, Lil's Stevie about Mystery of the Ages lawsuit, Bob Thiel and his double blessing and dreams he has had, to Dave Pack's creature Jesus supposedly coming back to Wadsworth to walk the hallowed grounds of the cult compound and his all things common teaching. The liars that now make up the leadership make Herbert Armstrong and Gerald Waterhouse look like saints!
The anonymous writer continues:
But did you know that most people actually want to be lied to?
Well, YES, we do! Look at the followers of Flurry, Pack, Thiel, and Weinland. Deep down some of their followers have to know their leader is bat-shit-crazy and a certified liar, but yet they sit there, week after week, feeling special and called out. Who cares if the leader lies, God will work it all out in the end.
God inspired the Prophet Isaiah to record, “That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits” (Isaiah 30:9-10).
This is a specific prophecy of what would happen to God’s own people in our time. Many of them would reject the truth of God, preferring to hear smooth-sounding lies. This attitude is rampant in the modern nations of Israel—specifically the United States, Britain and the Jewish nation in the Middle East.
The anonymous writer is right! COG members have rejected truth for the smoothing talking lies of today's COG leaders.
No wonder lies are growing in politics, medicine and the media! The ground is fertile for planting the seeds of deception. The peoples of physical and spiritual Israel prefer to be lied to. Why?
Sady, Armstrongism has been fertile ground for liars to easily dupe members with smooth-sounding lies and half-truths. The entire COG belief system has been built upon a lie, half-truths, and crafty words from smooth-talking charlatans.
Christ gives us the answer in John 3:19-21: “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
The men leading various COG's today love the darkness of their lies and have no problem in lying with compunction. Just look at Dave Pack and Bob Thiel. There is no end to the lies these two will tell.
We cannot pick and choose when it comes to the truth. We need to accept the full truth on every issue—including ourselves. And the real truth is founded on God’s Word.
The Church of God has always held up the standard and waved it high as they craftily picked and chose what they wanted to do and what they didn't want to do. They should have called the COG the Half-assed COG, because none of them ever did anything fully.
Psalm 111:10 shows us that if we are to have a good understanding, we must keep the commandments of God. God’s Ninth Commandment forbids lying. Every time we tell a lie or accept a lie, we move further away from God’s truth.
The COG has been on a downward slippery slope for decades. It has been moving away from the truth for decades since it rejected grace, justification, and sanctification.
The choice is yours. If you are tired of being lied to, choose to live the way of God’s truth in your life. “Remove from me the way of lying … I have chosen the way of truth …” (Psalm 119:29-30).
Since the lying false prophets of the COG will not leave, their members are abandoning them with vigor. They have chosen to remove themselves from the liars.
Do you really want to know the truth?
Will, you choose to stop being lied to by Bob Thiel, Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry, Ron Weinland, and the host of other COG leaders?
The ACOG leaders give themselves the right to a double standard. So members can never lie, but the leaders can tell monster lies, and it's all OK cause it's for the common good. For instance, some common lies told are that ministers have a right to lord it over their members. Why should the gentiles have all the fun on this one.
ReplyDeleteAnother is that ministers have all rights and the members have non. Another is that members must be passive rather than assertive. Hence endless admonitions to be kind, gentle, and 'a soft answer turns away wrath.' By contrast, the ministers and their minions have a right to be assertive and aggressive.
Another is that ministers can play the game of the unjust steward with their 'give way,' even though the words 'one another' (ie, relationships are two way) appear over 50 times in the NT.
So the ministers and their boot lickers have the right to everything, and the little people have a right to nothing.
"and the Jewish nation in the Middle East".
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmm why not just say ISRAEL.
Perhaps a 'Jewish' nation is an embarrassment to the writers.
Of course a little latent anti semitism may have slipped in by mistake or just a typo error.
Armstrongism educated members not to look to time-honored conventional wisdom, or for that matter anything mainstream. Well, there is a reason why conventional wisdom is conventional wisdom. It has stood the test of time and has been proven to work. But, they set us up for a false dichotomy and switched the meanings of right and wrong. Sad to see that so many people just within the past five years have become entrenched in the wrong side of that dichotomy, and believe in fairy tales.
ReplyDeleteMasks have been used in the medical profession for many decades for one reason: They are effective in preventing the spread of illness. So, it is not a matter of whether masks work if used properly, but rather of which ones work, and which ones do not work. KN95: very effective. Ditto for the blue surgical masks. The home made jobs crafted from your underwear? Not so much! Why is this even a debate except for the terminally stupid, or those who simply delight in being perverse???
mRNA research began back in 1990 with experiments conducted on mice and RNA viruses. Starting in 2010, research scientists began working on a stable delivery system for the vaccine. So, the medical technology had a 30 year history by the time that Covid 19 was identified, and operation Warp Speed simply involved the final coding, and perfecting the delivery system, making the vaccine specific to Covid 19. Of course Flurry's people have been conditioned to look to their ministers for medical truths, so they will be against this vaccine. These are poeple who aren't allowed to take Passover if it is known that they dabbed a little bit of Neosporin on a cut, fer cryin' out loud. And, don't even get me started on the Qanon-MAGA crowd, who have surrendered themselves to fairy tales all of our detriment!
Truth is indeed precious! This is why it is so disconcerting to know that there are powerful people out there hell bent on ushering their followers into the new Dark Ages.

DeleteYou are missing the larger picture. COVID 19 has been politicized for the purpose of creating a secular HWA type abusive cult. Government leaders and their officials are micromanaging people's lives just like in the early WWCG days. Yes, a new Dark Age has arrived.
And some posters on Banned are defending this. Even after experiencing such abuse in ACOG-land. Go figure?
Typical PCG practice on articles without the author's name means it's loosely copied/plagiarized from an old WCG article. Look it up. Flurry started this plagiarizing bit, so no wonder it's done by those below him. And how ironic that two of the masters of lies (Gerry/Stevie) would have this on their site.
ReplyDeleteWould not be surprised to one day see PCOG be sued over someone dying from an easily treated condition over their counseling to forgo medical treatment. I remember hearing about GTA talking about being upset and warning HWA about a child dying of appendicitis and that he and his father clashed about treatment of Loma's bowel obstruction that ultimately led to her death.
ReplyDeleteVery confusing post NO2HWA to discern which part is PCG article and which part was not. Is anon thoughts from this blog here or anon in actual PCG article?
ReplyDeleteIs not a major characteristic of liars confusion ? I'd say mockery towards others as well but confusion is the smoke that surrounds the lies.
Not sure what you’ve been smoking but it’s so obvious that even blind Freddy can see that anonymous is the PCG writer.
DeleteOh please Anon 8:13 anyone who's been around long enough knows full well Flurry types and the rest will have been first to get the Covid jab. It will have been justified for the work of the church. Keeping the work going and all that.
ReplyDeleteIf Herbert Armstrong could get away with receiving medical treatment in the 70's & 80's whilst telling the members to not dare think of going to a doctors then Flurry will be exactly the same.

ReplyDeleteAre you daft? It is plain to me which are quotes and which are not. Quotes are always indented, as you can plainly see NO2 has done here. You have no substance to complain about and you whine about something so stupid as this.
Reading your comment is like watching Dazed and Confused.
So quickly you comment 6:04. It is a badly laid out post.
ReplyDeleteAre you daft ? 6:04 insults. Not half as daft as you think 6:04 or should that be No2HWA.
ReplyDeleteIn fact no one is in the least bit stupid as you arrogantly always assume. Accusing others of "whingeing" and "stupidity" isn't that what corrupt ministry are well known for ??
Keep double checking your real location doesn't get exposed again now. Keep checking 24/7.

ReplyDeleteRelax dude! It is pretty obvious where the quotes are. Those are the indented paragraphs, in case you need some kind of assitance.
That was part of my point, 12:52. The secular HWA cult is the Qanon-MAGA crowd with all their fairy tales, and the Donald is the HWA type who runs roughshod over the process of democracy, and redefines patriotism as being loyal to him! Figures that a president of German nationality would be our version of Hitler, who for some reason, those in the ACOGs idolize!
ReplyDeleteAnon 1:13 pm
DeleteAnd I suppose Joe Biden embraces all the classic democratic values, puts country over personal ambition and safeguards our individual liberties?
ReplyDeleteAssitance ? You need the assistance.
It is very disheartening and disconcerting to see so many former Armstrongites adopt the same anti-science stance (and embrace the same conspiratorial theories) that folks who are still part of a splinter have swallowed. I guess it's really hard to emerge from that kind of brainwashing and return to sound reasoning, respect for expertise and questioning of information that contradicts consensus.
ReplyDeleteMichael Crichton 2003:
ReplyDeleteLet’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world.
In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus. There is no such thing as consensus science. If it’s consensus, it isn’t science. If it’s science, it isn’t consensus. Period.
In addition, let me remind you that the track record of the consensus is nothing to be proud of. Let’s review a few cases.
In past centuries, the greatest killer of women was fever following childbirth. One woman in six died of this fever. In 1795, Alexander Gordon of Aberdeen suggested that the fevers were infectious processes, and he was able to cure them. The consensus said no.
In 1843, Oliver Wendell Holmes claimed puerperal fever was contagious, and presented compelling evidence. The consensus said no.
In 1849, Semmelweiss demonstrated that sanitary techniques virtually eliminated puerperal fever in hospitals under his management. The consensus said he was a Jew, ignored him, and dismissed him from his post. There was in fact no agreement on puerperal fever until the start of the twentieth century. Thus the consensus took one hundred and twenty five years to arrive at the right conclusion despite the efforts of the prominent “skeptics” around the world, skeptics who were demeaned and ignored. And despite the constant ongoing deaths of women.
There is no shortage of other examples. In the 1920s in America, tens of thousands of people, mostly poor, were dying of a disease called pellagra. The consensus of scientists said it was infectious, and what was necessary was to find the “pellagra germ.” The US government asked a brilliant young investigator, Dr. Joseph Goldberger, to find the cause. Goldberger concluded that diet was the crucial factor. The consensus remained wedded to the germ theory.
Goldberger demonstrated that he could induce the disease through diet. He demonstrated that the disease was not infectious by injecting the blood of a pellagra patient into himself, and his assistant. They and other volunteers swabbed their noses with swabs from pellagra patients, and swallowed capsules containing scabs from pellagra rashes in what were called “Goldberger’s filth parties.” Nobody contracted pellagra.
The consensus continued to disagree with him. There was, in addition, a social factor-southern States disliked the idea of poor diet as the cause, because it meant that social reform was required. They continued to deny it until the 1920s. Result-despite a twentieth century epidemic, the consensus took years to see the light.
Probably every schoolchild notices that South America and Africa seem to fit together rather snugly, and Alfred Wegener proposed, in 1912, that the continents had in fact drifted apart. The consensus sneered at continental drift for fifty years. The theory was most vigorously denied by the great names of geology-until 1961, when it began to seem as if the sea floors were spreading. The result: it took the consensus fifty years to acknowledge what any schoolchild sees.
And shall we go on? The examples can be multiplied endlessly. Jenner and smallpox, Pasteur and germ theory. Saccharine, margarine, repressed memory, fiber and colon cancer, hormone replacement therapy. The list of consensus errors goes on and on.
Finally, I would remind you to notice where the claim of consensus is invoked. Consensus is invoked only in situations where the science is not solid enough. Nobody says the consensus of scientists agrees that E=mc2. Nobody says the consensus is that the sun is 93 million miles away. It would never occur to anyone to speak that way.
I place my bets with the odds, 3:32. I go with the consensus until they are proven wrong. Then I modify in accordance with the new information as it is proven.
ReplyDeleteIn the current situation we've seen people ingesting medicines for tropical fish, snorting Lysol, taking hydroxychloroquine, and now, horse de-wormer, all because some maverick has recommended these things. People continue to cite totally discredited theories and self-proclaimed experts as they advocate a party line. Don't believe me? Check out the shoddy "research"l being served up at another well known dissident site. Sad, because what you believe is now a matter of life and death.
From "Scientific Consensus: Why Should We Accept It?" by Robert Sanders at Futurism.com, we read:
ReplyDelete"A scientific consensus, in general, is what most scientists believe to be true about a certain issue based on their interpretation of all of the evidence that we have at our disposal. In other words, it is the collective answer of scientists to a particular question. For example, if the scientific community is asked: “If I let go of this apple in my hand, will it fall to the ground?” The answer will be “yes,” following the scientific consensus the apple is subject to Earth’s gravity.
This, however, brings into question the validity of a scientific consensus. How sure are we the consensus is indeed, scientific?
It’s always useful to remember that, first, a scientific paper is not a run-of-the-mill paper. It is a paper that is reviewed by a host of individuals in the community who scrutinize its limitations, its experimental processes, and its findings. Only after the paper has been through this peer review process is it accepted for publication. And each new paper builds on the information disclosed in the papers that came before.
Hence, the birth of a scientific consensus isn’t subject to a majoritarian rule. It actually signifies the fact that a great many scientists from different backgrounds have considered the question at hand and have reached similar conclusions."
The entire article is available here: https://futurism.com/what-is-scientific-consensus
There is also a tradition of doctrinal peer review, takimg place over many centuries, and involving learned theologians. You might say that the Talmud was a sort of Jewish peer review.
ReplyDeleteJust as they ignore peer-reviewed science and go for the quackery, Armstrongism also ignored millennia of theological peer review, and went for the fringe heresies.
HWA's system of research, highly influenced by the works of Alexander Hislop, has remained ingrained within the minds of many members and ex-members of Armstrongism. The gist of Armstrongian research is that you look for facts which support your beliefs. There is no following of an evidentiary trail, objective analysis of evidence, and drawing conclusions based on that evidence. It is all about finding proof texts, often lifting them from context, and without any effort to test the sources, or even know if those sources are primary or quotes and paraphrases of the primary.
I'd just like to point out that the moderators of this forum are not nearly as objective as they claim to be. I posted a response to one of the above anti - Trump posts -- my response was critical of Joe Biden. That response was not published even though it contained no profanity or personal attacks. However it's commonplace to allow anti-trump postings and other anti-conservative statements. I know that in principle this is a forum to discuss ACOG issues and experiences and is not a political forum, although these subjects often evolve into politics and current events. But I think it's very close-minded to not allow all comments.
ReplyDelete8:49 "I'd just like to point out that the moderators of this forum are not nearly as objective as they claim to be."
ReplyDeleteI don't give a crap what you think of me. Dragging in Biden, Trump, Covid, vaccinations, etc. into every damn post that has NOTHING to do with them is tiresome and boring. We hear enough of that crap on a daily basis than to be subjected dot it here too.
If you are offended at that then too bad. I don't care if I offend anonymous people.
