UCG Unable To Understand its "Essence" And Thus Members Do Not Share The Vision

The only "essence" UCG has is that it was formed to keep the elite ministers with a steady paycheck when they jumped ship from the Mother Church, WCG, after they had spent several years publicly supporting the changes.

UCG claims to preach "depth of truth". A truth that is so precious that they present it in "love". Cough, cough.

UCG blames its problems on the "clutter" in their competing market. The truth of the matter is that other churches preach a better truthful and loving message than UCG does.

The third was in the area of our vision statement. Whereas most members can recite from memory our slogan, “Preach the Gospel, Prepare a People,” which is a shortened version of our mission statement, the Council began discussion on how we can get everyone to similarly focus on our vision. Brian Shaw presented this to the Council during the COE workshop the previous week, so he presented it again for the administration and elders. This process was begun eleven years ago when a project team worked with an outside firm to help us understand UCG’s critical essence. Their work was supposed to be reworked and made our own, but due to other pressing matters it was never completed. The COE now strongly agrees that the essence of what UCG offers is “truth” and especially depth of truth. There was also agreement in how UCG presents the truth, “in love.” He said that Ephesians:4:15 is one of the core verses of our vision statement and sums up where we are all to be and how we conduct ourselves. He then drew a competitive map so all could see that our competing clutter in the market does not speak to those who are seeking “truth in love.” This isn’t just a slogan, a theme or a tagline but a cultural change that will unify us and lead us all to developing the nature of Christ, as Ephesians tells us. The COE wants UCG administration to lead our ministry and membership in “truth in love,” and believes strongly that as this is reflected in our sermons, publications and video services, all those seeking to do the same will want to engage with us. All of the Council was excited to continue to move this forward with more emphasis on this condensed version of our vision statement and each member expressed this to the administration. The Council remanded this to the SPFC for policies that can be given to the administration for implementation.

  2. UCG has become an constant target of this blog recently. Whilst COGWA is sent to Coventry, rarely mentioned. Interesting situation.
Is there a reason for this one ponders.

Whatever UCG are doing to irk the blog writers on this blog, I hope they keep doing it.

  4. I believe that what all these splinters are doing is to attempt to find the silver bullet that makes it apparent who has the conch. Thing is, there is no super blessed standout breaking out of the no growth mold. They're all pretty much unknowns as compared not only to HWA at his zenith, but also to your average contemporary mega church, or the well known mainstream evangelists, who are also working very hard to preach the gospel to all nations, and are more effective.

What if some of the Armstrongites who have come here to correct us on Banned were successful in turning us? If we all suddenly went surfin', how could we possibly even know which of all the ridiculous and pathetic little splinters was the right one? There is no evidence from any of them which could lead a person to the correct decision. And, if God were guiding all of the splinter surfers, they'd all be guided to the same one! But, that ain't happenin! The logical conclusion is that the "right" one doesn't exist. Armstrongism was always just a scam, built through fear and coercion.

  5. The core problem is that the end goal is not “truth in love” but “engage with us.” Truth in love (how ever they define that)is just a means to the end of gaining more members and money.

  6. It is interesting that this Splinter Group enlisted a consulting firm to help them define their vision. This makes me think they got the standard business treatment. I worked for a number of organizations that decided there was a need for a Vision Statement and crafted one that was always presented as a collection of imperative goals and purposes. But it always seemed like it was really a public relations package. It was intended to answer the question, "How do we want to be seen?" Typically, once the Vision Statement was published, it went on a webpage somewhere and nobody internally ever really looked at it again.

The VS said essentially we are "lion and tigers and bears" and we do "this and that". But it had no real internally transformative value. I never witnessed an organization embark on a new path based on a VS. External threat is one force that organizations do respond to. External threat will lead sometimes to transformation - as a matter of survival. My guess is that this Splinter group is feeling the bite of competition from other very similar Splinter groups. What they really need is some product differentiation not a VS.

My opinion is that the idea of "depth of truth" is dead on arrival in Splinterdom's competitive market. It is an old saw in apocalyptic Millerism and can provide no competitive advantage against the "clutter" out in the marketplace. It has no leverage.
Everybody out there in Splinterdom has already wrapped themselves in the mantle of "truth." It all started long ago with the "plain truth" as a mantra.

  8. Any successful organization must fire on all 3 of these cylinders...

Good excited turned on people, Good Process (ie successful marketing and onboarding), and Good Product (sermons, music, meeting hall, children's development).

For the UCG, they get bad grades on all 3 categories.

The only thing I ponder is why, if you know so much about how bad COGWA is, then why dont you share it?

I do agree with many here that COGWA is filled with just as many scumbags as UCG, PCG, LCG, RCG and CCG is. COGWA has become quit adept at covering up their sins and presenting themselves as enlightened and better than anyone else.

  14. “There was also agreement in how UCG presents the truth, 'in love.'”

    Presents the truth in love?

Does that mean something totally perverse, like when the UCG talks about “showing grandfatherly affection.”

MY COMMENT - A very condemning statement and tells us all we need to know about UCG. Did Jesus and/or the original Apostles hire a Consultant to help them understand their "critical essence"? You mean they are so lost and stupid that they don't know their own calling? And it was of such low priority to UCG that they put it on hold for 11 years?

By their fruits YOU shall them!

  16. Is there any significant difference between UCG an COGWA? I don't follow the schisms in Splinterdom closely. Serious responses only please.

The critical essence of it all: The former Tkach goon Victor Kubik is currently running the UCG gong show.
