LCG: Are you an effective team player or do you promote yourself while criticizing us?

Well, the Friday Night SmackDown is back after a relatively benign few weeks of platitudes after the Feast. Looking at what is posted below sounds perfectly logical on the surface, but when you take into consideration this is a Church of God saying this, and given the track record of the LCG/GCG over the last couple of decades, this is just one more thing that LCG members are doing wrong. They are NOT team players, nor do they respect others and treat them gently. Remember this is a COG saying this which causes one to stop and think about when the church did not criticize members, treated them gently and respectfully, AND was willing to listen to members. Really listen.

Are You a Team Player? Members of successful teams (families, churches, etc.) develop skills to function together to accomplish goals. As Christians, we must develop the same qualities. We need to be focused on the same goal—the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33) and doing the Work of God (Mark 16:15). Effective team players avoid offending others (Matthew 18:7), they forgive and overlook slights and insults (Proverbs 17:9), and do not accuse or criticize other members of the team (Matthew 7:1–5). Effective team players are peacemakers (Matthew 5:9); they treat others gently, respectfully, and patiently; and are willing to listen (James 3:17; 4:11). They do not promote themselves at the expense of others (Matthew 20:20–24), and they appreciate that team members have different talents (1 Corinthians 12:4–12). In short, good team players have learned to love their neighbors. Let’s strive to develop these vital qualities.

  1. Team Player???

Most COGs , going back to the old WCG and moving forward, have always been deliberate "SPECTATOR SPORTS". The ministry is not interested in having "teammates", but rather just have fans in the stands, who pay the entrance fee.

The Pay/ Pray / Stay / and Obey model is still alive and well.

Winnail isn't even trying. Not much of a team player, apparently.

  3. The essence of the CoG movement with their various sects is ‘my way or the highway’.
If a member of these groups voices an opinion no matter how well founded and argued it is, that is not in accordance with officialdom, it’s the HIGHWAY………

    It's profitable for HIM:
Armstrong Doomsday Cult leaders won't reveal what they're paying themselves!

  5. Actually a good message from DSW... now even better if the ministry in LCG do this first. HOWEVER, there is a lot of reading between the lines in lcg. Its not just what they say. Many people will get from this, "to be a good team player you must do what the ministry says"... unfortunately loyalty to the organisation is elevated over loyalty to God.

  7. I'm presently reading a book about women in abusive relationships. I'm finding it painful to read. As the book points out, women often try to make verbally abusive relationships "work" by being super strong, super understanding, super forgiving, and tolerating being miserable in these relationships.
I know from my own church experiences that this is what's being taught in these churches under the table. This is what's often projected into 1Cor13.
So the responsible should tolerate constant insults, slights, etc, and never fight back, but instead respond with gentleness, patience, kind words etc.
This is the game of the unjust steward with deceitful biblical window dressing.

Where in church teachings are members taught that they have a right to be treated with dignity and respect? That they have a right to be free from physical and or verbal violence? Are you listening attack-guy Kevin?
Scratch the surface of church teachings and one finds great partiality towards the wicked.

  8. It starts at the top. How can we learn, if the ministers listen to the spies. Why do they support it? Why do they do this? The spy should confront his brother or sister first, then as a last resort the minister.
If the church doesn't follow the rules on this one thing, then everything they do is wrong.

It's not a matter of rights - it's more a matter of grace. LCG and the rest of the COGs don't understand God's character and grace - so they horribly mistreat people. The COGs do show great partiality towards the wicked - foremost, is reverence toward the wicked ministry, and next in priority are those who butter the butts of the wicked ministry.

Jesus is depicted as a loving Shepherd who does everything for his sheep; including laying down his life for them, that they may enjoy life. This is the opposite of how the COG ministry acts.

The COGs don't preach about Jesus because they don't know him; they don't follow Jesus, so they don't treat their people in the example of Jesus.

John 14:6 Jesus is the truth and the life.

The LCG team players have dutifully pumped millions of dollars into the leadership's coffers - yet have no evidence of success from the leaders' playbook. The members have always done their part for the team, yet the leaders have failed the team. If there was true increase and other success, LCG would loudly proclaim the specifics rather than the vague or misleading statements about growth.

Doug should be more of a team player and give the people fresh and useful writings - rather than recycling his demands that they blindly follow his failed leadership.
