Are you too busy enjoying life, having fun with your family, traveling, visiting with friends? If you are then you are not 100% focused upon Living Church of God's commission. After all, LCG has been warning the world about their commission for 25 years now, and if you are here in LA, no one even knows what that commission is.
LCG members need to have their focus upon a kingdom to come where they will be kings and priests and rule over the masses with power and glory as they are coequal with Jesus since they will then be gods, just like Jesus.
Redeeming the Time: The Apostle Paul urged brethren in Ephesus to consider God’s will, live with a purpose, and make the most of every opportunity to become more like Jesus Christ—“because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15–16). Ephesus was a bustling port city, home of the great pagan temple of Diana, and filled with temptations for Christians. Jesus also warned believers against being sidetracked from spiritual goals by the “cares of this world”—the pursuit of money, material things, and fame (Matthew 13:22). As Christians living in the latter days, we have a commission to warn the world of a coming judgment, to preach the Gospel of the coming Kingdom of God (Matthew 24), and to prepare for future roles in that Kingdom (Revelation 5:10; Isaiah 30:20–21). Let’s put our hearts into this mission and come out of this world—and take advantage of the opportunity we have been given to grow to become more like Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
Have a profitable Sabbath, Douglas S. Winnail
I can't help wondering how many ACOG ministers are lazy. That their sermons are dull and repetitive, plus they appear to be living vicariously through their church members, points to this.
ReplyDeleteExactly! Because we need to seek the Kingdom of God before all things.
ReplyDelete...."we have a commission to warn the world of a coming judgment"......
ReplyDelete====================================
No. The commission was given to the 11 disciples (apostles).
A commission to warn the world was not given to the apostles. They apostles were told to preach the gospel....

DeleteChrist warned of the 70 AD destruction of Jerusalem, so it seems odd that His disciples would not do the same.
Brothers here at banned at hwa come back to the truth you once knew. I pray in Jesus holy mighty name you do not let the devil steal your faith your joy your love your happiness for Christ whatever you are going through it is only temporary God will see you through whatever pain you are going through he knows the pain that you are struggling with and he will give you the desires of your heart you may not see it right now but God is only trying to make you into the image of his son he's only trying to to strengthen your faith I know it may not feel too good but to be honest with you God cares more about your character more than he does about your comfort and God will be there for you and he will see you through whatever you are going through I will definitely keep you lifted up in my prayers just remember even though you may not see the Hope even when your hope is all gone your strength lies in the Lord to always keep on trusting in Him and He will be your shelter in the time of need he is your Harbor in the time of storm.
ReplyDeleteWow! Doug is getting lazy! This one is a light paraphrase/rewording of a comment he put out in January of last year, less than 12 months ago! Maybe Doug will grace us with a series of comments about laziness?
ReplyDelete8:54, could you please support your exhortation with scriptures from the Qur'an? I believe this would be very pleasing to Allah if you did so.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
The COGs could be better off by encouraging and not scolding or demanding.
ReplyDeleteLCG's message could have been simplified to Seek ye first... (Matt 6:33)
ReplyDelete“LCG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto the kingdom”
That is basically what they all say:
The Bigger Little Fakes
LCG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto supporting the kingdom of Rod.
UCG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto supporting the kingdom of Vic.
The False Prophets
PCG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto supporting the kingdom of Gerald.
RCG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto supporting the kingdom of Dave.
COG-PKG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto supporting the kingdom of Ron.
CCG: Members need to get their focus off themselves and onto supporting the kingdom of Bob.
ReplyDeleteRedeeming the Time: Good idea. Don't let too much of your limited, precious, rapidly passing time be wasted by Rod, Victor, Gerald, Dave, Ron, Bob, etc.
RIP Sidney Poitier.
ReplyDeleteA church that demands a tithe, offerings and a large personal time investment, should be praising its members once in a while!
ReplyDeleteMost of these members have DECADES of such service and investment, which if it had been "invested" into their own lives, would have resulted in very healthy retirement positions.
While certainly our lives should reflect the "hope of the kingdom" within us, I notice (for the most part), that the COGS very much minimize the efforts of the coming "Two Witnesses", and also of the seldom spoke of "Third Angels Message", which scripture implies will be seen and heard by everyone around the world.
Having a limited circulation magazine, with a 90% non renewal rate within 5 years, or a cable TV infomercial at 3 in the morning on an obscure channel, (not putting down anyones efforts here) , however DOES NOT somehow fulfill the "great commission".
So what does fulfill the great commission then Tonto?
DeleteHave DECADES of such service and investment which if it had been "invested" into their own lives, would have resulted in very healthy retirement positions. Well Tonto that's highly interesting to read. Because that's the whole crux of the problems is it not. Same people hogg all the jobs for DECADES and no one else can get a look in. No one else gets trained or dare to. It becomes a tiny minority rule.
Meanwhile they, hoggers of all the jobs, grow weary and start despising the very situation they caused in the first place. My oh my.
"Seek ye first..."
ReplyDeleteAs I've probably mentioned before, Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven as used in the Gospels are usually meant as a circumlocution to Messiah, not to the Messianic reign (aka "The Kingdom")
In most if not all instances, I agree.

Not true. For decades, WCG strongly implied that HWA and GTA were the Two Witnesses. PCG has strongly implied that GRF and Little Stevie Flurry are the Two Witnesses. LCG strongly implied that Rod Meredith would be one of the Witnesses, leaving room for weirdos like Bob Thiel to imagine themselves as the Second Witness. And let's not forget Ron Weinland and his Silent (Witless?) Witness.
"The Kingdom of Heaven is within you." ~ Yeshua
ReplyDelete"Heaven is with in you" - Greg X. Volz 😊
Deletehowever DOES NOT somehow fulfill the "great commission"
ReplyDeleteNor does Alexa Rank on web hits.
Remember when RCG had a pseudo-random "downloads" counter? Is it still there? I don't go to the website because last time I was got a bag of poison cookies.
Response to above critique--
ReplyDeleteNotice I said "coming two witnesses". The COGS in their history surely have appropriated many personas as the 2 witnesses , even going back to HWA/GTA days, and many in the current sense. All of these have been abysmal clownish failures.
The work of the TRUE two witnesses will be very self apparent, and witnessed by the whole world. Same is true for the seldom spoke of "Third Angels Message". These are yet future events.
It is the duty of Christians , to preach the Gospel by the example of their well lived lives, and to 1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and be ready always to give an answer to every man who asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
The early Christian church changed the world, and never used magazines, or media or advertising. There were indeed, those types of mediums available , even in the first century. We see no evidence of buying a billboard at an arena, or having town crier "sandwich board" type guys,, going around on chariots crying out , or sponsoring concerts at grand opulent facilities.
There is something missing to the equation here that the modern COGS dont understand. Blindly following the HWA mass media model and not relying on God to stir the Holy Spirit within to do its will.
Anon 8:54, I pray that you'll come to the truth that Armstrongism is FALSE!
ReplyDeleteAll nations will be saved by Christ, but first he needs a side kick like a Batman needs his sidekick Robin Jesus is Herbert W Armstrong's sidekick grasp this brethren.
ReplyDeleteArmstrong taught the truth and why? He did not teach error and why? Because he is a apostle.
ReplyDeleteWhich tribe of Israel will Herbert be in charge of in KOG if he is an apostle?
DeleteThis comment has nothing to do with this article, but I'd like to point out that on your ministers of shame list that John Cafourek is dead and unable to repent. Just saying.

ReplyDeletePossibly a diatribe!
Anon 11:00 am apostle just means one sent by God.
ReplyDeleteKingdom/Reign
ReplyDeleteMt 6:33 Rather, make it your priority to find God’s kingship [basileia] and his righteousness... (R.T. France, Matthew, NICNT, pp.264-265).
"BASILEIA ... is primarily an abstract noun, denoting sovereignty, royal power, dominion, e.g., Rev 17:18... then, by metonymy, a concrete noun, denoting the territory or people over whom a king rules eg., Matt 4:8..." (Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, p.294).
Rev 17:18 ... that great city, which reigneth [basileia] over the kings of the earth (NIV).
Rev 17:18b the great city, which hath kingdom over the kings of the earth (DRB).
Mt 4:8b ...and showeth him all the kingdoms [basileia] of the world, and the glory of them;
Ac 1:3b and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom [basileia] of God (AV)
Ac 1:3b and speaking the things concerning the reign of God (YLT).
Ac 1:6b wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom [basileia] to Israel?
Ac 28:31a Preaching the kingdom of God, and
Ac 28:31b teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ...
“1:3 / The kingdom of God: For a proper understanding of this term, it should be noted that both the Greek and Hebrew or Aramaic words thus translated signify kingship rather than kingdom, rule rather than realm. Essentially, therefore, the kingdom of God “is not a community of Christians nor an inner life of the soul, nor yet an earthly paradise which mankind is bring into being and which is in process of development” (G. Lunstrom, The Kingdom of God in the Teaching of Jesus... p.232), though it might embrace all these notions, but is, rather, God acting in his kingly power, exercising sovereignty and, in particular, asserting his rule for the overthrow of Satan and the restoration of humanity to a relationship with himself. But this was conceived of in various ways: sometimes in terms of God’s eternal sovereignty and sometimes in terms of our present experience of him, but chiefly in the terms of the kingdom’s future manifestation, its onset marked by the “Day of the Lord,” when God and/or his Messiah would appear, the dead would be raised, and the new age ushered in (see notes on 2:17ff.). Then all would know God, from the least to the greatest, and he would forgive them (Jer 31:”34) and pour out his Spirit upon them (Joel 2:28).
Mk 1:22a And they were astonished at his doctrine
Mk 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Lk 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
“For Jesus’ contemporaries, as for all generations before them, the kingdom conceived of in these term was no more than a distant hope. With what astonishment, therefore, must they have heard Jesus’ announcement that it had become a present reality (see, e.g., Mark 1:22, 27). “The right time as come,” he said (i.e., the anticipated time of its manifestation), “and the kingdom of God has arrived” (Mark 1:15; cf., e.g., Luke 17:21). But, if Jesus was right (and the evidence of his life, his miracles, his resurrection, and the Pentecostal outpouring assure us that he was), then the kingdom clearly had not come in the manner expected. For the time being it remained a personal and partial experience (though certainly a real one) for those who submitted to God’s rule in Jesus Christ (cf. 1 Cor 13:12). Only when Jesus returns will the kingdom be fully established and God’s rule becomes all in all (see disc. on 3:19-21; 14:22; cf. 1 Cor 15:24f.). Thus the Day of the Lord, which, in a sense, could be said to have come with the coming of Jesus, has been drawn out these many years until his coming again. Much of the language of the Old Testament describing the Day of the Lord is applied by the New Testament to “the Day of Christ,” i.e., to the day of his return” (David J. Williams, Acts, NIBC, pp.26-27).

How do I know this is a troll? Genuine HWA-worshippers will admit that King David is a greater man than HWA
