LCG Thinks Israel Needs To Hear Their Message
Greetings from Charlotte:
When it seems as though things cannot get worse, they will. There will be ups and downs, but our world is heading into the time of Jacob’s trouble. We may not be there yet, but that is where the events taking place right now are heading. The invasion of Ukraine by Russia, whether justified or not, sets in motion paths for the future that can move us closer to the fulfillment of end-time prophecies. The disastrous manner in which the United States pulled out of Afghanistan is part of the big picture, but even more so is our headlong plunge into sinful behaviors and divisions within.
In the meantime, we continue doing the Work of God. Each week between 2,500 and 3,500 brand-new subscribers are added to Tomorrow’s World magazine. While some subscribers do not renew their subscriptions, the mailing list continues to grow as we reach larger numbers of new people. We will be starting a new congregation in Savannah, Georgia, and last week we started airing the telecast in Israel. Please pray that God will use this opportunity to preach the Gospel in Israel to accomplish His purpose.—Gerald Weston
"in Israel"? Are they saying they're in the Middle Eastern nation, where they'll have to convince people that both Flurry AND their Jewish heritage are wrong? Or when they say "in Israel" do they mean what WCG used to mean, that they're showing their program to English-speaking white people?
LCG CLAIMS: "While some subscribers do not renew their subscriptions..."
MY RESPONSE: The word "some" is a huge understatement. For all of the COGs , the non renewal rate is about 50% the first year, and then 25% less each year from that base.
This results with only about 4% still being subscribed after 10 years. This for magazines thet are free, and offer many renewal notices.
A couple of things. Firstly, so 2500-3500 new subscribers are added each week to the magazine. The strain on their already limited resources to have a free magazine widely available to the masses with a diminishing tithing base supporting the costs of publication, must surely be unsustainable long term. Are these figures genuine? And what are the real membership numbers of lcog? Is there corresponding growth in membership to substain this added expenditure? Their ‘telecast’ is now board casting into Israel? However Times of Israel and Haaretz among many other Israeli news sources point out in 2020 that Shelanu TV which sponsors God TV an evangelical station set us solely to evangelise Israelis was closed down by Government authorities. Christian TV is under the spotlight in Israel and faces huge hurdles, as it is seen as simply a means of proselytising Jews. So is the lcog claim a ‘slight’ of hand and their telecast available only online and not with any registered TV authority in Israel? Their ‘telecast’ is available online via the net ‘worldwide’, pun intended; and Israel is most certainly perhaps the most ‘wired’ to the internet, so their claim is misleading but maybe it is a matter of simply rallying the ‘troops’.
Heh! Some more deluded people who just don't understand that the Holocaust really killed off Judaism as a religion. It turned an entire generation agnostic.
Gerald Weston wrote: "...There will be ups and downs, but our world is heading into the time of Jacob’s trouble. We may not be there yet, but that is where the events taking place right now are heading. ..." ****** Yes, Gerald: "...the time of Jacob's trouble...may not be there yet, but that is where the events taking place right now are heading. ..."
True Gerald, but it over a 1,000 years from today. Jacob's trouble is part of the Day of the LORD, which will not happen until after Satan exits the bottomless pit.
Gerald sounds like another prophet falsely so-called, but Gerald's theory about Jacob's trouble fits in with Gerald's Mickey Mouse Millennium where Gerald is believing that Jesus, another Jesus, is "very soon" to return to Gerald's neighborhood and begin to reign on earth for 1,000 years along with Gerald, Doug Winnail, Scott Winnail, Rod Merdith, Bob Thiel (?????), etc.
Satan, one of God's enemies, will not be totally subdued until after Satan exits the bottomless pit, Satan disrupts peace on earth, causes further war and deception worldwide, the Day of the LORD events are fulfilled (including the time of Jacob's troubles) and Satan and his angels are destroyed (Matthew 25:41, 46; Ezekiel 28:19, etc.)
Does Israel need to hear some message from the xcogs like living (dead?)? Shouldn't Israel be encouraged by messages like the following?
Isaiah 45:17 [But] Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.
Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else.
Oh, and Jacob's troubles?
Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! for that day [is] great, so that none [is] like it: it [is] even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
Those are inspired thoughts from God to real prophets (not to prophets falsely so-called like Bob Thiel), but does that God have the power to fulfill His thoughts?
Isaiah 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, [so] shall it stand:
Oftentimes the former WCG hirelings think God needs their help in working out God's true Plan of Salvation to save all humanity and subsequently destroy Satan and his angels, but God does not. How do we know?
Psalm 74:12 "For God [is] my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.
:13 Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, [and] gavest him [to be] meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness."
Will the likes of Weston, Winnail(s), Thiel live to witness their messages about the time of Jacob's troubles and a Mickey Mouse Millennium? And/or will these hirelings (former WCG and otherwise) learn how God took care of the salvation of Jacob/Israel without any assistance from any one of them?
Yes the holocaust had a huge impact on the faith of many, not just within Judaism. Having lived in Israel I can attest to that. Ironically it also turned many to faith. Today Judaism is alive and well and flourishing in Israel and in the diaspora. Not withstanding the efforts of many to ‘convert’ them to ‘Christianity’. What Armstrongism has to offer Israel is zero. The proclamation of the gospel to Israel must come from within, from ‘homegrown’ ministry to have serious impact. From those who understand the culture, the nature of what they are facing in bringing a message that has caused so much harm to the Jewish people as a whole over the centuries. And that is indeed what is happening.

I am puzzled as to what hermeneutic this Splinter group uses to interpret the phrase "Jacob's Trouble." They equate it to the time of great tribulation, but I don't know why. I have never seen this assertion accompanied by an exegetical support. The Jews regard it as simply a "consolation prophecy" with no end-time connection. This is especially difficult to apply because the Jews have suffered so often and so greatly. It could refer to the Holocaust or any other Jewish adversity. The likely candidate would be the 70 AD events but even that is not provided with an obvious connection. Jeremiah 30:7 is recruited by End-timers to support a tribulation that seems mythic without appropriate exegesis. But it seems like such statements are built on a structure of assumption rather than exegesis.
It is like the proverb about the little boy with a hammer: everything looks like a nail. To an apocalyptic Millerite, most everything in the OT prophets looks like an end-time prophecy. People sitting in the pews should simply ask the pulpit: "How did you come up with that?"
Find a Grave website shows Roderick C. Meredith's grave. Only four "flowers" were posted. Only four people have left comments. What does this say about how he was regarded, if anything? Would you think that if he was a church leader for decades there might be more expressions of affection? Or was he feared and tolerated more than loved and appreciated by most people?
RCM is doing a lot better than either HWA or GTA in getting flowers. The Armstrong's don't get any! The flowers and comment thing had to be turned off because so many people were leaving derogatory and nasty remarks on their memorial pages.
Herbert W. Armstrong was a GREAT MAN and the CHURCH God used HIM to LEAD was FULL of PEACE and HAPPINESS like how the WONDERFUL WORLD TOMMOROW WILL BE!
The thing is that the Church of God can't get enough of Jesus especially since they teach about we must follow Jesus and keep his laws instead of abandoning them. Do you agree? Banned by Hwa Do you understand that Christ was God of Old covenant-testament? If so the answers can and should be obvious.
But consider this: While Jesus was alive, people were still expected to observe the Ten Commandments for a time. If he kept the commandments then we should too.
