Herbert Armstrong's Tangled Web of Corrupt Leaders

LCG: No, no, you fools – Russia and China are not the danger. It’s Germany, Germany, Germany!

Some things in Armstrongism never change, particularly if you are the Living Church of God. How many decades has this nonsense been going on? How many more decades will they continue to say this? Those pesky Germans! Always trying to stir up problems. The Church of God today has more to fear from its own leaders like Dave Pack, Gerald Flurry, and Bob Thiel than any outside entity.

Where Will China's Ambitions Lead?

The logo of the European Union's Global Gateway Project

China and Russia are growing closer. Last month, China proposed a 12-point plan to end the war in Ukraine. This week, Chinese President Xi was in Russia meeting with President Putin. President Xi commented that his country was prepared to work with Russia “to stand guard over the world order based on international law” (The Guardian, March 20, 2023).

In another part of the world, China recently “brokered a rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, in the process upending U.S. calculus in the Gulf and beyond” (CNN, March 15, 2023). Analysts know that as China’s ambitions continue to grow, it will need more oil. Shoring up relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia and building up its own credibility with both nations bodes well for China’s future oil needs. However, the country’s recent diplomatic coup in the Middle East and its pledge to work with Russia as a protector of international norms serves China’s plan to further push the waning United States out of the role of global hegemon. As the U.S. declines and further alienates other nations, it leaves a global leadership vacuum that must be filled. China appears to be working to fill that void. As analyst Nic Robertson noted, what the U.S. has long feared is now happening, regardless of the ultimate result of the war in Ukraine: the creation of an alternative world order that is not centered on the United States.

British and U.S. decline was prophesied long ago in the pages of the Bible, as was the rise of other nations to take their place as the end of the age approaches. Interestingly, the leading international power will ultimately notbe China! While China will likely play a major role in end-time events, eyes should be on Germany! Lit offer for Germany In Prophecy

  1. It's not Russia. It's not China. It's not Germany. America maybe?

  2. The great thing about prophecy is that you can have it both ways.

If world events go in the "right" direction it "proves" you are right

If world events go in the "wrong" direction you can say "that's just so everyone will know that only God's church saw it coming!".

  3. USA is mainly German you ignorant doofuses!
What does that do to your dumb prophecy theories?

Think of how much Armstrongists pay for these stale recycled news stories in their mid-20th-century-style magazines!

  4. I remember the fixation with I think Hans Josef Strauss and Otto Von Hapsburg back in the 70's. One thing about HWA and his wannabes like Flurry and Pack. Whatever they predict, you can be rest assured, IT IS WRONG!!!

  5. This is another indication as to how Armstrongism has passed its expiration date. You can still invent fairy tales today and have massive numbers of people believe them (like about elections being stolen), but not this type of fairy tale. The immigration reform acts of the late 1960s pretty much ensured that the USA would no longer be a largely white country with immigrants being subservient to the white population. And there have been similar reforms in other countries. That, and the ease of international travel have made most civilized nations into melting pots.

Watching Germany so intently made it so that the Arabs caught us totally off guard on 9/11. Shit can happen with China, Russia, North Korea, Iran, and other hotspots around the globe. The Germans basically realized that they were wrong in their national attitudes prior to and including World Wars I and II, and have repudiated their activities of those eras.

  6. HWA's clever ploy to frighten post WW2 folks into submission was to rehash over and over the atrocities of the Hitler regime. In the 40's -70's most of the members were still fresh from the war, so how better to prey on their fear of another war with Germany? Told to watch Germany, Germany was the catalyst. It worked pretty well then, and current COG's think they can continue to ride that wave.

  7. There were articles by hwa naming franz josef strauss as the beast or part of the beast power. Sorry, but that was a false prophesy where it isn’t just “having the timing off”.

  8. Germany is not Assyria. There is no genetic, anthropological or historical evidence to support this inane idea. The undeniable migrational data reflected in European genomes indicates that Germans are Europeans, like the British and Russians, and have no connection with the Middle East. Over against that scientific body of evidence, we have Hoeh’s exaltation of a reference to Ninus in German pseudo-history that was placed there so that the Germans could compete with Rome for who has the best ancient pedigree. On the science side of the scale, we have a lead weight and on the other side we have a frayed feather.

This brings us to a dilemma. If a family believes that the neighboring family came from Mars because that fits nicely into a bizarre conspiracy theory that they cling to, how does one bring them back to reality? The fact that the family already believes something delusional is not encouraging. And it is likely that science is one of the first things they cast aside in order to get to their pitiable condition today. How can one possibly provide these people an exit?

Paul encountered this kind of impediment to Christianity and wrote:

“But their minds were hardened. Indeed, to this very day, when they hear the reading of the old covenant, that same veil is still there, since only in Christ is it set aside.”

There are some deductions we can make from Paul’s statement. First, he himself could do nothing about this condition. Second, the veil can only be removed by Christ. Third, people who persist in believing the easily disproved malarkey about Germany being Assyria (as a part of a larger dubious religious view) do not have Jesus working in their lives to bring about a Christian walk. I don’t like to think that but that is where the logic goes.

Dealing in such malarkey, however, does have economic value. Trump said he was going to be arrested last Tuesday. We waited expectantly. It was a prophetic failure. He is still roaming freely. But that little prophecy brought into his coffers 1.5 million dollars in support. You know the much-cited maxim, “Follow the money.”

    ReplyDelete
  9. Interestingly, 7:38, the conspiracy theorists are now able to augment their malarkey with deep fake pictures and videos produced through the wonders of AI. Hence last week's pix of Trumpsie in handcuffs. Bob Thiel believes that this is the way he will be framed, jailed, and cancelled, but it is doubtful that anyone would expend the resources on such a minor bit player whom nobody even knows.

It is fascinating, the methods which people employ to support their false beliefs. Those of us who once had an Armstrong experience really got a foretaste of this back in the day. It is very disconcerting to witness a more widespread application of it amongst mainstream contemporaries.

  10. I once heard a story that Strauss paid a visit to the AC campus back in the 70s at the time he was considered the Beast, and the official explanation was that God was giving Satan one last glimpse of the Kingdom of God on the earth! Does anyone remember that? I think it was the time GTA supposedly gave him a rifle for a welcoming present.

  11. As a Christian I will focus on Christ and my shortcomings. I will work on being a better human being to my fellow man. I could care less about if the Germans come and get me.maybe they will ignore me “when they come” since I’m not of British descent.

  14. Dang, 1952 That prophet in the last days was wrong again. Now if you are a true prophet of God, then it would have come to pass and that article would have been true.

What's also silly is how this group (living), attempts to validate HWA because of the fall of Berlin Wall in 1989 as his prophecy being fulfilled. It was a historical event and Germany has increased its economy decades later but that's it. Well, Japan was rebuilt as well. Thanks to the American Govt. we helped rebuild some of these locations.

Fact: From 1840 to 1880, Six million Germans immigrated to America. Not to mention all the other German immigrants that came beforehand. Descendant descendant descendant

  15. Most likely, German intelligence knew and informed Strauss about HWA/WCG's beliefs about his role in prophecy. If they didn't, they had not done their job. We were so bush league and naive back then that we would never have believed that we were being played with.

  16. Germany's fellow Europeans, including the English, accept them as being full Europeans, and belonging right where they are. No distinctions are made against them. They are considered to be an asset, and not some sort of savage people or a hermit kingdom. German-Americans are regarded as being rational and law abiding every bit as much as the English, the French, Scandinavians, etc. HWA was wrong about the German people.

  17. Looking back and reading HWA's writings, his co-worker letters plus his failed prophecies and it is quite evident that he was NOT an apostle and if anything someone who could be titled "A Destroyer of Lives" including that of his own family. It always struck me growing up in Worldwide how it seemed the account of Christ's birth and early life seemed to be avoided and i remember how HWA talked trash saying that Christ was a "smart aleck" as he was represented by protestant and mainstream Christianity. It struck me hearing members of HWA's own family saying he really was never close to anyone and they weren't sure if he really ever loved anyone other than himself. I guess it is sorta like after he died in the Soviet Union that Tkach had to eventually play the role of Khrushchev and have a period of De-Stalinization.

  18. It’s interesting that I recall HWA writing something about in the Bible no “king of the west” is mentioned. Only “kings” of the “north” “south” and “east.” Although he taught USA was of Israelitish origjn and would be destroyed by a German led USE I wonder now that we are seeing the EU and Russia and China all growing in power—Idk who would fulfil the “king of the south” ATM unless Egypt grows in power too and/or in the future joins with other nations?—if in actual fact the US will be destroyed by either a rogue state like Iran or NK or even get in a war with China and this will then lead to the beast and false prophet appearing and joining forces in Europe to take the helm of global leadership?

  19. What if Germany once again militarized and attacked and defeated the USA. Would that prove that the Germans are the Assyrians? Would it mean that the United States is Manasseh? Hardly. Those kinds of determinations do not rest on global affairs but biology and anthropology. You cannot start with geopolitics and work backward to anthropology. Geopolitics is interpretive and anthropology and genetics are scientific disciplines with measurable results.

British-Israelism and German-Assyrianism are both products of dreamy cloudspotting. They belong in the fiction section of your library if not on the abnormal psychology shelf. But this pre-occupation is not entirely droll, I admit. BI resembles Trumpism in an important way. Even though I am a "Never Trump" conservative, I do acknowledge that his base, with their wild and incredible conspiracy theories, is motivated by genuine concerns that they cannot articulate. They sense something that the rest of us may not yet be able to sense yet. They are like animals fleeing inland to escape the tsunami. The animals may not be able to conceive of what they are really running from; they just know that something bad is out there and it is time to get serious.

Believers in BI and Trump, I think, sense something alarming that is just over the horizon. They just cannot give you a coherent description of what. So, they resort to lurid story – like what shaman did around the campfire among ancient tribal hominids. Because of the expected change in North American demographics, I suspect that they sense that we are heading towards a shooting civil war. It is a feeling of impending doom. And BI and Trumpism are both inept attempts to make it coherent.

Interesting, so are you saying take for instance, Antiochus IV Epiphanes the Greek Hellenistic king who ruled the Seleucid Empire who offered swine on the altar is an example of this geopolitics but not anthropology. Because this man of sin prophecy at the end time is depicted as someone from the Roman system, even though Antiochus (sort of wasn't)?? The COG's like to use this historical figure between the testaments as a duality of the abomination of desolation prophecy, but does he match the genetics, since they like to use the descendent (genetic) code.

  21. HWA and other religious cults used terror religion to attract, keep and control their victim-members. But non of these abuses invalidates the bible. The ten toes of Daniel 2 and the ten kings of Revelation 17 points to a United States of Europe. Since it's called a Beast, Germany is the logical leader. Plus historic accounts of Assyrian barbarism and Germany during WW2 certainly match. Not every thing HWA taught was wrong.

Yea, I understand what you are saying. But it's the timing that HWA had which was off. When he releases stuff like that 52' Article about Hitler still being alive or the 1963 Race issue, you see that the man had some screws loose.

Europe right now is struggling economically because of the Russia & Ukraine conflict. So a lot has to happen until "their prophecy timeline" See all these "so called prophets" want to be on the scene when the "Beast thing" happens, so they can leads God's people. The Almighty only works with humble and leaders who are humble. They want God to be on "their time" instead of understanding that all man's life is like a breath.

Of course not. It's the bible that invalidates the bible.

  24. Because this man of sin prophecy at the end time is depicted as someone from the Roman system, ...

Yeah but the Roman empire of old is today represented by bible "scholars" who prophesy in the name of Jesus. So the the man of sin is a member of some CoG.

You need to take a course in logic.

  25. From Anonymous 4:56: “Interesting, so are you saying take for instance, Antiochus IV Epiphanes the Greek Hellenistic king who ruled the Seleucid Empire who offered swine on the altar is an example of this geopolitics but not anthropology.”

My statement was much simpler than that. I am saying that Antiochus’ role in the world alone does not permit us to conjecture on his genetic background. The Romans, like other Mediterraneans, are a mix of people from haplogroups R, G and E and traces of others. Where in the spectrum does Antiochus fall? If we could identify his modern-day descendants, the science of genetics would permit us to identify his haplogroup.

My argument is that we cannot take a nation that has enjoyed national prosperity and tag it as Israel. Then because Germany twice fought against this nation, we cannot tag Germany as Assyria. The model of one nation being at odds over time with another nation occurs frequently in geopolitics. If is not informative of racial background of either contender. The rock-solid truth is found in the genome. It is encoded in DNA. It can be read. And from this we know that the British people are not Israel and the German people are not Assyria. The Brits are predominantly haplogroup R. The Germans are predominantly haplogroup R. And the Jews are predominantly haplogroup J.

The Germans are a mixed population. In the western part of Germany they are R1b like the British and towards the East they tend to be R1a like the Poles and other Slavs. The Germans are not different from other Europeans genetically but are very different from people who come from the Middle East genetically. This is demonstrable. No pseudo-history, speculation on geopolitics or guesswork needed. Herman Hoeh’s interpretation of the putative Table of Nations in Genesis 10 cannot be made to fit European genetics. The fact that Splinterland continues to hawk these preposterous ideas is embarrassing. Armstrongists can get really nerdish about pseudo-history. I wish they would get nerdish about the science of genetics. It would be revolutionary.

    1. Now if the British people are not of Israelite descent, then the Bible doesn't pertain to them. So don't read it, get their own book. Even Jesus came to none but the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Also they have no part in the Kingdom. Rev 7.

"The Brits are predominantly haplogroup R. The Germans are predominantly haplogroup R. And the Jews are predominantly haplogroup J."

Exactly,The Anglo-Saxons were a group of Germanic tribes who gradually invaded England starting in the 5th century in the wake of the collapse of the Roman Empire. Originally, they came from what is now the coastal region of northwest Germany/Saxony

Science agrees with history. Hoeh was incorrect in this matter.

  27. I have to laugh about the mistakes in genetics made by Herbert Armstrong and Herman Hoeh. If anyone made a more blunderous assumption than they, it would just have to be Christopher Columbus! Imagine the conversation the three of them might have in the Kingdom, hypothetically speaking, of course!

  28. Anon 505 says, the 10 toes of Daniel 2 and the 10 kings of Rev.17 point to a US of Europe. Maybe, maybe not! As long as the Common market was at 10 nations, the Church could boast of it's claim. But as it grew to 12, 15, and beyond, they scrambled to explain it. I believe in another possibility.

In 1973 the Globalist think tank, the Club of Rome, proposed a worldwide model of 10 kingdoms, dividing the earth into 10 regions as a forerunner for world government. That's interesting, considering that in 1935 E.W. Bullinger asserts

"the 10 kings (kings of the EARTH) exercise authority each in his own part of the world. The whole earth is divided to them".
    Commentary on Revelation, page 547

In this model, the Beast could be Assyrian or anybody else!

Don't think this is a far fetched conspiracy theory, for world government has been a goal for most politicians and prominent corporate leaders since the conception of the Council on Foreign Relations in 1921. Even old AC correspondence courses admit this fact.

The Globalists are a current reality and this is their goal. The only thing holding it up now? --The U.S. Constitution! . . . and we can see where that's headed!
