Silenced is reporting in it's article Delusions of the Pack that Dave Pack has failed to secure funding of his mini-me monument to himself.
According to sources who wish to remain anonymous, Pack has revised the start date for construction on his personal shrine. He cannot borrow additional funds from the bank for the project, resulting in a renewed grovelling for member donations. RCG tried to borrow about 50 percent of it’s required funding, and now that the cult can’t get financing, Pack insists he never borrows money.
We have come to the spring of the year when the first two of the seven annual Holy Day offerings arrive. I do not need to tell all of you veteran members how important are these yearly “spikes” in our income. In what we have been describing as our “austerity year,” because we must (and are able to) pay for the entire building project cash-the banks are terrified of lending to any but their most established borrowers, and we never borrow anything-these Holy Day offerings become more crucial than ever. We can all understand why. Please go to God, at least once if not more, before preparing each of your Holy Day offerings. Consider making the decision on your knees. Ask God to give you the FAITH and the COURAGE-and the VISION of the world as it is and the great need to reach it with Christ’s “kingdom of God” announcement and the “Ezekiel warning” to the nations of Israel-before settling on a “number.”
Since he has failed to secure funding will he be able to open his completed campus in one year in April of 2013? Has he told another lie or will gullible members mortgage their homes and businesses to fund this abomination?
" For now, just realize that our name (and my name personally) is probably known to over 90 percent of the people in Wadsworth."
ReplyDeleteThat's about as telling a comment as need be spoken. I recall Stanley Rader, counsel and Rasputin like to HWA saying once, "I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name correctly."

DCP says:
ReplyDelete"God has revealed to me some of the most stunning understanding to which I have ever been led. It electrified the entire Headquarters church."
Perhaps one of the electrified brethren could share the Good News of the Kingdom of God and this stunning understanding with someone before next week?
Perhaps they are too stunned to speak?

Many of the people of Wadsworth were not happy about Restored building a campus there and one or two suggested that a Walmart (horrors!) might better serve the community there.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that the city "fathers" (or mothers as the case may be), wanted the land rezoned as part of an influx of money into the community, based on the promise of building the campus and the prosperity it would bring (money from RCG member's DUIs during the Feast alone might pay for the Police and Fire Departments). It may (speculation alert!) be that the leaders' assumption was based on the manic assertions of Pack that he would begin building this year and that assumption was based on getting the bank loans.
While it is true that United did get a commercial loan to build their home office, there was substantial qualification done to assure the lending institutions that it was not a fly-by-night con. There were any number of criteria, such as stability of the membership count, the flow of funds, fiscal responsibility and so forth -- none of which Pack could provide. There aren't enough members and the RCG simply doesn't look like it is stable (and the leader looks even less stable).
Times have also changed. Back when the UCG got its loan, times were more prosperous, but, friends, we've had a substantial downturn. Income for the ACoGs is dropping critically. This is not a time for building anything other than what is absolutely essential to keep going (not that I would suggest the ACoGs should keep going).
It is also the case that the ACoGs have substantially less credibility in 2012 and seem to be in substantial decline without much hope of rescue on the horizon. It's been a bad three years and there aren't any happy prospects on the horizon. People are tired of the Church Wars and British Israelism has lost it's appeal (hey, you out there -- don't you think Islam might just be a bigger opportunity for Armaggedon? Just sayin'!). The world has become something Herbert Armstrong never conceived of (during the cold war era) and his teachings are nothing but a curious artifact of the Kook world. No one wants that sort of stuff any more.
In the world of guns or butter, the choice is going to be more along the lines of survival, rather than sacrificing yourself and your family to build a monument of narcissism to an arrogant ego driven man with a conditional conscience -- and that, friends, translates into a less than stellar credit rating for the cult.
Should always count the cost before starting to build your ivory tower (the elephants for the ivory might just be in short supply).
I expect the stunned were warned by the stunner not to reveal the stunnage before the time...
ReplyDeleteIt electrified the entire Headquarters church
ReplyDeleteWhat!!?!!??
Doesn't Pack even have the money to hire a qualified licensed competent electrician???!!??
Shocking!!!
I guess he again came up a little short.
Pride goeth before something -- let me look it up...
ReplyDeleteProverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
ReplyDeleteAccept no substitutes!
Doug, perhaps you meant to quote Luke 14:28-29:
ReplyDelete"Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him."
Just another service we provide...
Banks have a reputation for just wanting money and being heartless. Nevertheless, they do serve a purpose and can sometimes help people. Some bank employees do care about their customers and do watch out for them.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the bankers were understandably ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIED to find out how David Pack planned to totally financially ruin all his followers. The bankers' consciences simply would never allow them to take part in such a merciless rip-off.
The Packatolla said, "the banks are terrified of lending to any but their most established borrowers, and we never borrow anything".
ReplyDeleteMY COMMENT - You mean the Packatolla is just finding out this late in life that Banks only lend to people and institutions with established credit ratings?
Richard
The banks won't loan because, in this case, they have financial smarts, so, like a pouty kid, he sticks out his lower lip and says, "we never borrow anything."
ReplyDeleteOnly because he can't!
I read the PDF of Pack's letter that Silenced provided.
ReplyDeleteIt's more than a little ironic that the "customary quote" from HWA with which Pack concludes his letter started out with the URGENT WARNING that "time is running out on us!"
This, from 1966. Almost 50 years ago.
The quote continued with HWA's standard technique of imploring people to tighten their belts so that "The Work" could have money.
"Time is short," he incorrectly asserted, before reminding people that God could accomplish his purpose...if everyone were to "joyfully do our own part faithfully."
How can anyone reprint something like that with a clear conscience?
The smartest thing anyone can do with their money is use it to strengthen their family's financial standing, allocate some of it where it will do real good for others -- locally, if possible -- and, under no circumstances whatsoever, send it to wolves in sheep's clothing who insist that they represent God and are somehow entitled to that money.
Let me see ...
ReplyDeleteDavid Pack is most likely telling his membership that "Satan hates God's work so much, that he has influenced the banks not to lend to us to finish the greatest work on earth today." Or, "God is testing (or judging) you to see if you will be faithful." We've heard it all before. And we, too, once believed this nonsense.
Excuse me for not making key words all capital letters.
Shouldn't we all be in fear to comment? LOL
ReplyDeleteBB
Time is short is bullshit. David Pack is a total fool who knows the schtick. He is uneducated in theology and origns of the canon. He has never read a book outside his limite and myopic world view. He is not inspired nor is he even theologically intelligent. Those of you who follow him are in for a BIG disappointment and lesson!

ReplyDeleteOnly Davey-Pee knows CURRENT events!
Did he replicate Ben Franklin's kite with a key hanging from it?
Here's what I propose, as Davey-Pee's unselected adviser-
* Impress potential investors!
(NOTE: This must be done during a thunderstorm.)
* Bring potential banking investors to the shores of Lake Loma to witness the "Davey-Pee-Spectacular"
* Attach a long wire to Davey-Pee's leg.
* Strap on HWA's metal candelabra to Davey-Pee's head.
* Strap in Davey-Pee for para-sailing, to be pulled by the Titanic in Lake Loma.
* Along the shore, pound in a ground rod and attach a wire to it.
* Start the Titanic moving, and Davey-Pee takes off, para-sailing and acting as an aerial capacitor.
* Connect the 2 wires to a group of Davey-Pee's followers who haven't paid enough tithes, to electrocute them.
* The bankers are impressed!
* Mission accomplished!
* But wait...!!!
* The Titanic starts to sink, pulling down Davey-Pee, too!
* OH, CRAP!
* Davey-Pee lands among the partially electrocuted semi-tithers!
* They start eating him!
* The potential investors leave, saying they enjoyed the show but cannot invest in an eaten person's ministry.
* Oops, that "Davey-Pee-Spectacular" to impress potential investors didn't go too well after all.
