Satan's incense
The Church of God has always had professional Juadaizers in its midst trying to prove that every single law in the Bible was a requirement of a Christian who follows the new covenant. They do everything their power to bastardize the new covenant into a major law keeping issue.
Today the Chief Judaizer of the Churches of God had this little tid-bit about birthday candles on birthday cakes.
Did you know that when you light a birthday candle and blow it out that you are sending smoke up do glorify Satan?
1:8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course, 1:9 According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. 1:10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
The ascending smoke of the incense as a type of the prayers of God’s people ascending to Heaven.
The pagans also believe that the smoke of their sacred fires ascend to their god; the birthday candle comes from paganism where the day of birth is considered auspicious for making a wish which will ascend to the sun god [Satan] in the smoke of the birthday candle.
I burn a birthday candle in our home bathroom after use, and it is NOT to worship Satan in any manner, but rather to "Get rid of the evil spirits"

ReplyDeleteYes. Why else would I put candles on my birthday cake? LOL
A) Lots of different religions had solar deities. The sun is a celestial body. Every pantheon had one. Ditto for the moon. The Greeks had "Helios" who used a chariot to traverse the sky, the Egyptians, "Ra" who used a boat, the Hindus "the Adityas" a group of solar deities who eventually were collapsed into a single solar deity, "Surya." The Romans had "Sol Invictus," who was fused with Jesus, who was already a solar deity due to the dying and rising motif.
B) These deities, though they may all be anthropomorphic characterizations of the sun, are not all one deity, nor is there any reason to think that all solar deities point to some underlying metaphysical reality. That's just dumb.
C) Even if there were, there's no reason to think that underlying metaphysical reality was "Satan" from the christian pantheon. It's just as reasonable to say it's Jesus.
Fundy Judaizers say the darndest things!
Since there's an infinite number of ways to be wrong, but not very many ways to be right, IMHO any adult who pronounces X is "true" with zero GOOD reasons ("Look, it says so in my KJV" = worst possible reason) is a liar because he has all the tools and information at his disposal to KNOW absolutely that he has a better chance of winning a $300M lotto jackpot than he does of being right about X.
The smoke from Hebrew sacrifices were described as being a pleasing aroma in the nostrils of the Lord, their God. That, of course, was in a dispensation long before the dawning of the industrial age,
ReplyDeleteThere is so much combustion activity mixing up the smoke in the earth's atmosphere, that the smoke from a few candles isn't even going to be measurable, or distinguishable. Cigarettes, cigars, car exhaust, trucks, trains, plains, bonfires, dung fires in India, war, forest fires, fireplaces, factories, and incinerators are just a few larger sources that make this birthday candle pronouncement yet another case of majoring in the minors.
It's bad theology, as well as bad science. God is the being described as being omnipresent and omniscient. Satan, demons, and angels are described as being in one location at any given time.

What makes one use of a candle less Satanic than another?
ReplyDeleteIf Thiel's logic is taken to its logical conclusion, anyone who lights a candle in the dark is engaging in an act of Satan-worship.
After all, why not be satisfied with the night sky that God gave you? If you are such an antichrist that you insist on having light after sunset, you are basically a Satanic rebel, so burning a candle makes perfect sense, as it will give you Satan's light and also send up smoke to worship him.
Cooking with fire also sends up a lot of smoke, so it's probably Satan-worship, too. I wonder what the Narcissistic Naturopath says about that?
I like those trick candles you can't blow out. They leave Satan guessing about when his glorification is coming. Keeps him off guard.
ReplyDeleteThe light bulb gives off more lumens than a candle. Light bulbs are the modern day candle.
ReplyDeleteTurn off all your light bulbs, you modern day pagans.
Funny this should be mentioned on my birthday TODAY...Happy Birthday to me!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that when you light a birthday candle and blow it out that you are sending smoke up do glorify Satan?
Did you know that when you listen to a >FALSE PROPHET< tell you you are worshiping Satan by lighting candles on your birthday, that you are actually listening to Satan and worshiping Satan in the first place...go figure!
I wish these COG believers would put even just a drop of common sense to their pea-size brain. If you are Jesus Christ and the time of judgment has come, will you decide the eternal future of a person on the basis of whether he blows or not a birthday candle?
