Living Church of God members must ALWAYS remain PRODUCTIVE tithe producing in order to keep a steady stream of money coming in so they can tithe on it to the church.
At least Gerald only had 3 points instead of 10, 20, or 30 that he and others are so famous for doing in their sermons.

Gerald, the man of power, losing power over the hour.
ReplyDeleteTithe dollars are his concern,
making money to burn,
Run a few errand, burn a few dollars,
as long as it don't cause my income to fallow.
This is spot on. All we have ever been as members of LCG are cash machines.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteAn urgent note from King Saul: I will not be accepting any more tithes of grain or sheep; rather in keeping with the Roman Beast power, gather all ye gold coins into baskets and deliver them before my feet. Furthermore, all those who worried about not seeing another Sabbath, I have instituted a Sunday replacement so we might be more sociable with gentiles.
Ya know? This isn't half bad advice for surviving the next 30 days! What arouses our cynicism is the knowledge of who Gerald is, and what his objectives and agenda are, and his habits and style over the past years. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Dr. Phil, or Suze Orman could recite the same words, stamping them with their own personalities, and it would put a completely different complexion on the presentation.
ReplyDeleteSadly, many of the jobs people held in the booming economy are most likely gone, as some of the businesses will cease to exist due to the forced down time. So the worst whip-cracking will come into play as the splinter leaders realize that the funds to make their budgets simply do not exist any longer. That's when they will begin to squeal like a certain ceremonially unclean animal.

Give Gerald Weston a break. His advice was practical and wise. Having a isolation schedule is widely advised.
ReplyDeleteHe never once hinted at tithes or offerings.
Curious- are they making any encouraging messages too?
ReplyDeleteA non cog church I know is focusing on encouragement and building a virtual community.
When I was a auto mechanic we treated everyone that came into the shop like they were a ATM machine. LCD is that auto shop.
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show what their main objectives are.
ReplyDeleteWake up cogers.
Get up at the same time, work in the same place, etc, is typical church micromanaging its members lives. I don't find that in my Bible. The whole purpose of acquiring wisdom, understanding and character is to enable a person can be a independent adult rather than a dependent child.
ReplyDeleteSadly, the ministry put having its members on a dog leash first.
Hopefully the lazy man behind the desk will be put to forced labor soon! I doubt that he's done a day's work in his life!

Funny how these ACOG leaders want to know all about us, but don't want us to know anything about them:
ReplyDeleteThey keep detailed files on our love life & donation history, but won't publish a balance sheet revealing where the money goes!
From the movie "Sunset Blvd"
"..do you know where he lives; do you know how he lives..?"
This is a nit. We have all known for a very long time that Armstrongism, from the perspective of its leadership, is a business. Its about revenue flow. Their interpretation of the Bible is adapted to business objectives and profitability - hence, the emphasis on prophecy, a high utility fundraiser.
ReplyDeleteThe elephant in the room: If the US goes into summer with the extraordinary unemployment rate that was just announced, and people fall into food insecurity ahd homelessness with no recourse, you will see our society violently come unglued. And Armstrongism will suddenly become one of the most unimportant religious anomalies in the world. In fact, Armstrongism may become extinct or nearly so due to these economic pressures.
(If I am wrong about this, maybe someone will kind enough to award me the Annual William Miller 1844 Failed Prophecy Classic Trophy. But I know the competition will be crazy intense this year.)
2:00am It's the treating people like they're infants that pisses most of us off the most. Typical for HWA's Ambassador hirelings!

ReplyDeleteI don't care if my mechanic views me as a ATM machine. Perhaps I in turn view him as a car repair machine. As long as he repairs my car, and asks the going price, both parties are satisfied. The problem is that members pay the ministers wages, and in return are fed spiritual milk and treated like dirt. Where else do you get that?
it's like feeding a giant pig no matter how much money is sent in its never enough. They preach love thy neighbor but do they. What do they and any of the other cogs do for their members except suck the life out of them? The first-century church at least helped out other congregations in need. The worse one seems to be cogwa they talked the talk but don't walk the walk. They never give a real accounting of where the money goes except vague references from the financial guru Brit Taylor. Be in need forget it, you will be treated better by the pagan churches than by these hypocrites. They fulfill what was said be of good cheer and send someone on their way still being hungry.
ReplyDeleteMy money now practices SOCIAL DISTANCING!
ReplyDelete"Are you going to sit back during this crisis and let the government take care of you"?
ReplyDeleteFrom the spiritual leader of the Living Church of God, there was nothing of spiritual value whatsoever given in this 6.5 minute crisis message.
Fear is rampant in the minds of a vast populace worrying about loss of work, loss of life, loss of sustenance and loss of fortunes. Those in the COGs should at least expect to be able to sit back and have the church take care of them during a time of world crisis!
Due diligence should be exhibited by the leadership of the LCG during this crisis with a first and foremost message of Jesus Christ's words of fear not and be anxious for nothing and will I find faith. Secondarily, Weston and his ministers should be cleaning out the church bank accounts, their bank accounts and providing for the members needs.
I got much more spiritual value from some lady in the neighborhood who happened to be walking by our house yesterday. I am focusing on getting right with God and am praying for everyone, even when my family thinks I am crazy she said.
I imagine that Gerald Weston and most of the COG leaders never thought that a(the) night that no man can work, literally means a time when people can't work. Pretty scary thought Mr. Weston. If that is the time now or a time in the future, what are you going to do Mr. Weston? Are you going to just sit back and let the government take care of you?
This is Gerald Weston
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention point number four. Effective immediately, I'm leading by example by cutting my own wage by 50%. I've asked others ministers to join me. This way, the pain caused by this virus will be shared by all, rather than only the laity. This is in keeping with the many NT scriptures that teach Christian sacrifice.
We're all in this together people.
Personally, in accordance with our governor's orders, since I serve five basic segments of our state's essential businesses, I'm probably going to be out and about during the period of medical shutdown, although it will be on a much abbreviated schedule. There is a risk factor to that, and I'm not totally happy with it, but in our family we've got 4 doctors and one nurse, so we are all putting it on the line, putting it out there. Most likely the biggest risks for me would come with the work I do with for my hospital and university customers, and I believe they will probably be mostly focussed on other areas, although their printshops are cranking out informational materials related to the pandemic. If that equipment breaks down, I've got to get it back up and running.
ReplyDeleteSo far as what we can see unfolding in the future, I believe we will have several times in the coming months where the virus appears to be under control, conditions appear to normalize, and then case levels again rise to the extent that the brakes need to be applied once again. So until the experiments and research in the medical field begin to provide solid results, there will be waves, and probably additional sequesterments.
I'm sure that many of us have family members who have existing medical conditions. I worry about them. This could be it for them. It's why everyone needs to take more than just adequate precautions. You almost have to overreact, (not to the extent of panic) because underreacting can be fatal. I don't understand the irrational people who deny that this is a crisis or advocate civil disobedience to the restraints which are in place. Their negligence places all of us at risk, and when an outlaw rebel like myself can see and understand that, it should carry more weight than when a "citizen" simply repeats the common mantra.
There are some constants no matter what the prevailing circumstances. We can expect the teachers of Armstrongism to act in accordance with the historic stereotypes. It is all they know, and most likely none of them will break out from that. So, as we weather the crisis, at least there will be plenty of opportunity for commentary in the coming weeks and months right here on Banned!

How do you know Anon 7:07 ? Bygone days mainly. RCG might but pretty sad if the others do as well. Their files are highly likely to be filled with condescending rubbish.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is for sure, income for the acog's will drastically decrease in the next few months. Gerald might indeed have to get a real job soon. LMAO

ReplyDeleteI know from personal experience that your "condescending rubbish" was verbally passed around by the elders and ministers during the Armstrong era. These informal files would still be around since the splinters are the moral daughters of the WCG. The ministers are all too aware of Sun Tzus 'Art of War' advice of 'information is ammunition.' Which is why it's wise to be secretive in these cults.
Dang BB is in the midst of circulating Covid air.
ReplyDeleteBB is a hero and outstanding citizen wannabe outsider outlaw. :-)
My salutations from the heart of darkness.
Get yourself a mask man...... not the batman kind.

Hey Biker.
ReplyDeleteHere in hell we just got the green light to use the propofol type used by animal vets to keep the patients with destroyed lungs asleep until the red blood cells start accepting oxygen again.
Your humble reporter from 8 days in the future. President Trump just outbid masks ordered for the Berlin hospitals.
I'm starting to wonder when ploughs will be turned in meathooks.

@ 9:28 & 10:33,
ReplyDeleteI was in LCG. I can't say for sure about local pastors in the field, but I saw firsthand that Rod McNair at HQ keeps files on many, many LCG members. Some of the information in those files is false, which has done LCG a world of hurt when it has driven away loyal members trying to be cooperative and has kept active tares who are willing to hurt others to "get ahead" in their church.
to nck @ 10:56 AM...
ReplyDeleteCOVID-GREEN... it's PEOPLE!!!
The funny thing, nck, is that I'm not riding the Harley for a while currently, mainly as a safety precaution, because drivers sometimes spit out the window. Not at me deliberately, but just to get rid of gum, sputum, or Skoal.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, got my normal regimen of vitamins, and one of our regular colleagues here just turned me on to another fine supplement that he knows to work from personal experience, so hopefully good health will continue. I think you guys have more police officers infected than we have cases in our entire state, so I can only imagine what conditions are like for you there.
I don't have a mask, so the best I can do is cover my nose and mouth with one of my Harley bandanas. Kind of continues the outlaw theme.
Stay well, and keep posting so we know you are OK.

"The leaders want to know all about YOU, but don't want you to know anything about THEM:
ReplyDelete"They keep detailed files of (snitched reports on) your lovelife as well as donation history, but won't publish a balance sheet revealing where the money goes! HELLO?
like Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd, well might we ask of the leader:
"..do you know where he lives; do you know how he lives..?"
Weston & your rich buddies:
ReplyDelete"Where do you live; how well do you live?"
We need an Ambassador-Report-style investigation on these shady characters!
Indeed, he never said the word "tithe" once. Although I'm waiting for some minister (Kenneth Copeland may have done it already) to suggest people tithe on their government "rescue checks".
ReplyDeleteThe advice about a set schedule is something my governor mentions often in daily COVID-19 updates, in terms of parents taking care of school children.
And can we all agree that state and local leaders are "micromanaging" people's lives a lot more than COG leaders these days?
"And can we all agree that state and local leaders are "micromanaging" people's lives a lot more than COG leaders these days?"
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's closer to a toss up.
But the government is doing it for the good of all, you can't say that for acog leaders.
km
LCG at least in the past has said it’s acceptable to not tithe on unemployment. Maybe that’s why he made the comment on not depending on the government? He’s worried about funding his salary?
ReplyDeleteGerald looks like such a doofus!
