The Philadelphia Church of God continues to plumb the depths of doctrinal heresy that forever cements them in Church of God history as a genuine anti-Christian cult. There is nothing godly or Christian about Flurryism.

Mark Hyde Gives Blasphemous Singles Bible Study:
March 17, 2024
PCG (just like WCG did) always gives a sermon about Christ before Passover, but it’s a Christ they really don’t know.
A dragged out and mind numbing 1 hour and 18 minute singles Bible Study was given by Mark Hyde on March 16 about “Evaluating your God Family Focus.” Below are a few notes I took from this blasphemous sermon.
“Herbert Armstrong represented God the Father to us (when he was alive), but now “Gerald Flurry represents God the Father.”
“We are here to become God and expand His family.”
Hyde went over much of Isaiah 53 ( a prophecy about Jesus) but ignorantly he claimed that when God saw His Son crucified that “there was great risk in that” because “Christ could have sinned.” and “the Father could have been alone for eternity.” But it was “worth the risk so that we would have a chance at eternal life.”
What absolute blasphemy! Refer to Jesus Two Natures which proves Jesus was fully God and fully man and never could have sinned. He willingly took the sins of the whole world upon Himself and endured the cross for the joy that was set before him. (Hebrews 12:2)
Going on, some of the other things Hyde said:
“How much do you think about building the God family?”
He talked about living a life of sacrifice spiritually and physically, or we “will get our minds on ourselves.”
He emphasized more than once how God gave up everything for us and what a risk it was.
He said those who have their mind on the “God Family Vision” will “fight to avoid sin.” He said Christ sweated blood “to keep from sinning.” And, “Would we we fight like that?”
Quoted from John 1:1. Hyde said,
“They (God and Jesus) were two Beings but it was almost like they were one because they were so focused.” (Refer to: The Two Natures of Jesus which shows Jesus was very God and very man.)
“We need to have that kind of unity.” “That requires prayer and study and fasting.”
He ended by quoting various verses on unity, even quoting HWA.
“We can’t be unified this way on our own, we can’t combat sin on our own.”
He told how on “Feb 4, 1984 HWA gave a sermon on unity” (after he put the church “back on track”). At that time HWA proclaimed, “There is going to be unity in the church!” “We must not let unity be destroyed by another spirit.
Hyde tied that in with submitting to “God’s government” which is “the love of God in action.” He said, “God must be really excited when we come together to support the Work.”
He said,
“Do your relationships with one another reflect more of an unconverted high school approach? Or do they reflect the converted approach filled with their Father’s God Family Vision?”
“If we’re all brutally honest, we see where Satan is trying to spin us into the first approach…”
“Gossip and backbiting are things we need to avoid; jealousy and envy.”
“Let’s get our minds on God’s Work and off self.” “Let’s give our lives to the God Family Vision and yearn for a family as God does.”
“One who has their focus on the God Family Vision lives a life of sacrifice.” “They will be motivated to fight like Christ to avoid sin. To go to the Father and ask for help.”
One can’t help but become outraged when listening to a sermon like this, seeing how they are rejecting the finished work of Christ on the cross of Calvary. ESN has shown on their site that eternal life is a free gift and all our sins have been forgiven once and for all. The tragedy is that PCG ministers are teaching these lies to their youth. –Critiqued by AJW
Claiming that HWA and now Gerald Flurry represents God the Father is blasphemy in my books. All religious leaders need to set an example in Christian living, but associating themselves with God in people's mind (the star power fallacy) is fraud.
ReplyDeleteChurch leaders who run their Churches like North Korea are neither Popes nor represent God the Father.
Anybody willing to question Flurry and other Bible Thumpers should do some research on the medical conditions which cause people to sweat blood. They pretend science and the Bible are in harmony. Really?
ReplyDeleteGerald Flurry is the father of destruction.
ReplyDelete“Gerald Flurry represents God the Father.”
ReplyDeleteSo is Mr. Flurry now the Pope?
What's the latest (shrunken) membership number for the PCG?
ReplyDeleteThe W.A. at 4:21 PM said...“So is Mr. Flurry now the Pope?”
ReplyDeleteYour spelling is off a bit. Gerald Flurry is the big Poop. Gerald is the poopiest poop around of all the false prophet poop. He thinks that he does not stink, but he does.
That is heretical. I know the Lord is merciful, but I do worry about the COGs, particularly the more extreme like Flurry's group.
ReplyDeleteI’d like to know the PCG’s numbers too. I’m going to take a stab at about 1500 worldwide, declining weekly.
ReplyDeleteAssuming we make it into the Kingdom, or into Heaven, what is the definitive element which keeps us from sinning, or even remembering the sinful thoughts we had as humans (which would be sinful to think again)?
ReplyDeleteI don't think my Dad (the minister) understood completely. He told me that if I kept listening to rock music, when I had perfect memory in the Kingdom, I wouldn't be able to get rid of that music for all eternity! At the time, I thought "Oh boy! How wonderful!" But HWA always said that listening to rock meant you were tuned into Satan!
No matter how much will power we have, it is fact that a professional could break any one of us. Is God going to do a purge or wipe and give us a complete new operating system? Will the world become a sterile Godly "clean room", an environment in which sin is not possible?
Surely, I'm not the only one who has entertained such questions. Thoughts? Anyone have any plausible explanations or theories?
They always say King David the ex-sinner will be pretty assured of entering the Kingdom. So what happens when David (after resurrection) has recurring flashback memories of Bathsheba-the-bathing-beauty, memories he saw of her back when she was still Mrs. Uriah?
ReplyDeleteHow will "minister dad" be able to erase his memories of tight sweater cuties ogling Elvis Presley's gyrating hips or memories of Betty Grable's gams on the pinup photo?
rock music, uh-oh 12:07...that includes the rock group Uriah Heep (pun intended)
ReplyDeleteHas PCG forgotten that Ross Jutsum song - "Ambassadors for CHRIST", from II Cor. 5:20?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure "Ambassador for the Father" is in the Bible.
Hah! David will have a much more detailed memory of his activities with Bathsheba, and that illustrates my point exactly. My own memory plagues me in this lifetime recalling nearly every stupid, selfish, or questionable thing I've done. Imagine what great warriors who slaughtered their enemies in war will be remembering! What does God do with all that stuff? The only thing that makes ny sense would be that he does a wipe. The problem is that in wiping the experience, the lesson that was learned through the experience also goes away.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the angels think of what their humans do. It would be both sad and exasperating to have to watch most people 24-7.
Comment was stated saying: "...Hyde went over much of Isaiah 53 ( a prophecy about Jesus) but ignorantly he claimed that when God saw His Son crucified that “there was great risk in that” because “Christ could have sinned.” and “the Father could have been alone for eternity.”..."
ReplyDelete******
Hyde is incorrect; Isaiah is correct here:
Isaiah 42:1 "Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, [in whom] my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles."
:4 "He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law."
God's servant, Jesus Christ, was not going to fail. That is, Jesus was not going to sin.
God's plan of salvation to save all humanity (2 Cor 5:19), and subsequently destroy Satan and his angels (Matthew 25:41, 46; Ezekiel 28:19, etc.), would be a failure if Jesus sinned. Additionally, many prophecies regarding the future doings/sayings of Jesus Christ would have ended up being lies if Jesus would have sinned.
God accomplishes His will by the power of His Spirit (Zech 4:6) through His Son Jesus Christ (1 Cor 8:6).
Isaiah 42:1 said: "Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, [in whom] my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him..."
Would anyone want to suggest that God's Spirit would allow Jesus Christ to sin? Would Hyde or anyone else, besides Satan and his angels, like to entertain the thought of blasphemy against God's power: God's Spirit?
Time will tell...
John
Angels likely see everything including each violent abuse & deaths of many kids & babies in the news last recent weeks. I personally wonder if those angels wish they could reach in & help, or if they at least politely ask God each time to help despite the percentage of times God declines granting them permission to halt the bullets or axe or fist flying on each kid?
ReplyDeleteCOG will always blame it all on Adam & Eve when each recent news abuse shocks us (& hopefully the angels too). Don't all these tragedies bring us all to ask God for 9-1-1 📞📡🙏emergency help right away?
Or do we just sit for now like RCG people who know Dave Pack is a scammer but won't say anything substantial to him.
At least the angels know whodunnit in all the cold-case files...the unsolved mysteries. I hope the angels at least "wish" they could help, while they remain patient with us for now.
(if some cookie-cutter COG doormat clod gets on here & tells me, "no, 7:55 Anon, the angels do not wish they could intervene, & rightly so...they agree with every punch the baby got last month...it's all part of the "plan")
The peccability vs. impeccability of Christ goes well beyond Armstrongism. But beyond that, yeah, Flurry is a wacko.
ReplyDeleteYou know, even as a fallible and weak human, there are some things you know you just wouldn't do.
ReplyDeleteI personally have absolute confidence that if an elderly handicapped old lady passed me with her handbag open, I am not going to rob her. I know that I wouldn't.
Even more so with Jesus. Having lived a perfect life for an eternity, sinning just wasn't something that would or could enter His mind.
