I find it interesting that Living Church of God's biggest false prophet is speaking out yet again on how demonic and evil the Super Bowl and American football are. Yet, in LCG's homes across the country there will be tv sets turned on to watch the game. Beer will be consumned, hot wings munched on and junk food galore. LCG members will be cheering for their favorite teams. But not so in the Thiel household. They'll be sitting around watching Bambi and polishing their halo's.
False Prophet Thiel writes these silly tidbits:
Since most people in the USA have, at one time or another, made some hint of professing following Jesus, a relevant question may be:
Would Jesus watch the Superbowl?
I could not reconcile loving my neighbor as myself and cherishing my flesh and not doing violence to any man by watching others do it in a football game.
The Superbowl will do harm to participants in it.
The New Testament also warns Christians against being violent or approving of those that are (Romans 1:28-32), while history records that early Christians would not watch violent sports.
In the 20th century, the late Herbert W. Armstrong wrote:
Since it is more important for Thiel and Armstrongism to follow HWA than it is Jesus, I guess they must be giving approval for the murders, rapes, stalkings and abuse that went on in Armstrongism over the decades. Football is evil but these things rampant in Armstrongism are not. You never see the False Prophet Thiel speaking out against these evils happening right now in LCG or COG.Football (American football) is a violent body-contact sport. It is often played with an attitude of hostility and is dangerous and is fraught with physical injury…Soccer does not embody the same evils. (Plain Truth, July-August 1984)
I conclude with more comments from the false prophet, so incredibly stupid they don't deserve a comment:
Would Jesus watch the Superbowl?
Perhaps, some might say. And some may ridicule and/or dismiss what I have written.
Yet if Jesus did watch the Superbowl, would He watch it and hope that one team would tackle and crash into members of the other team? Or might He watch it, if He did, so He could make social commentary against the violence and/or distorted priorities of the land?
This is something that Christians, and others, should think about.

Jesus didn't have any problem watching a few hundred pigs run themselves over a cliff into the Sea of Galilee squeeling, snorting and choking on demons, so I don't see that he'd not enjoy the SB.
And you are right about the LCG members watching it themselves and , in this case, dismissing Dr. Bob's self righteous rant.
A good rule in life is that if you don't like something, then don't you do it, attend it, promote it or think about it. But other than that, leave others alone. It's really none of your business.

Mikey went to see the Super Bowl.
Some how it looks like it might not meet his expectations.
Q: Would Jesus Watch the Super Bowl?
A: I don't know and neither does Thiel. I will ask Jesus if I ever meet him in person.
Q: Would Jesus Watch the Super Bowl?
A: Of course not. Football is a modern sport and not invented in Jesus time.
Q: Would Jesus Watch the Super Bowl?
A. I don't know, but I do know my mother - who was the staunchest of Herbert W. Armstrong and Roderick Meredith WCG/LCG supporters until the day she died - hosted "Super Bowl Sphagetti" night. I hope Thiel isn't suggesting my mother is being thrown in the Lake of Fire for watching a game.

If you are going to quote HWA, it would be good to let everyone know that he wasn't exactly consistent. That, and he liked professional wrestling- so his views on sports probably are not noteworthy.
I don't know if Jesus would like American football, but just consider he may not have a strong opinion on it one way or another. Perhaps that's an angle to consider, Bobby- see M.T. above.
Q. Would Jesus Watch The Super Bowl?
A. A more relevant question would be, "Would Jesus watch Bob Thiel?"
Richard
Most people this side of the pond think that God is an Englishman.
As such, clearly He would not be watching Super Bowl American Football.
Dr Thiel quotes HWA
‘Football (American football) is a violent body-contact sport. It is often played with an attitude of hostility and is dangerous and is fraught with physical injury…Soccer does not embody the same evils. (Plain Truth, July-August 1984)’
‘Soccer’ – i.e. ‘Proper Football’ is clearly what should be watched.
(Hope nobody thinks I am biased in any way)!
Did somun sai FOOSEBALL?!
Bob Thiel, you missed a good game!
I hope this doesn't mean that after a lifetime of tithing, giving to the Building Fund , not celebrating Christmas or Easter, giving offerings, giving to the Emergency Fund, eradicating every spec of leavening in the house before the Days of Unleaven Bread, observing the Sabbath and doing bible study, abstaining from watching TV or entertainment on the Sabbath, giving to special offerings, visiting widows in their time of need, washing the stinky feet of brethren at Passover, keeping all the annual Feast Days, abstaining from voting at election time, and trying one's best to live a "good Christian life" - that watching the Super Bowl game is what gets you thrown into the Lake of Fire!
Like all Armstrongism, even your very best is NEVER good enough for entering the Kingdom of God.

I apologize for not answering for myself sooner. I was in Europe at a Hockey game and just got back to the States.
I'm kinda of a hockey kind of being so don't really follow football.
I thought this was kinda funny though..
" Football (American football) is a violent body-contact sport. It is often played with an attitude of hostility and is dangerous and is fraught with physical injury…Soccer does not embody the same evils. (Plain Truth, July-August 1984)"
Obviously Dr. Thiel does not remember just how violent, hostil, dangerous and fraught with physical injuries I will make you all in the Book of Revelation. I can be very violent when it is for the cause of peace.

The problem with people like Thiel is that they presume to give opinions on things like this at all.
Who asked him? Further, who appointed him the arbiter of such things?
The sooner he admits that nobody cares what he thinks about it, the better off he'll be.
It will change nothing for everyone else, however, because everyone else already ignores him.
What a buffoon.
What a stupid, inane, question for an aspiring theologian to ask! Boy, they really try to limit Jesus in all these little ACOGs, don't they?
Jesus is a member of the deity. As such, He is omnipotent, and omniscient. Therefore, Dr. Bob, Jesus did watch the Superbowl! I'm sure that He probably saw some good in it, while also observing things that go against the royal law of love, and will need reconciliation before being turned over to the Father.
